Your emotions are the glue to make your habits stick. Case in point: Two people are trying to lose 50 pounds: #1 - just wants to lose 50 lbs for losing weight's sake #2 - knows that, if he doesn't lose the weight, he won't be able to play with his kids in a few years I'll put my money on the dude who has his kids on his mind every day on his weight loss journey… Because he's going to be emotionally driven to lose those 50 pounds.  In today's 5-Minute Drill, I'm going to help you not only commit to an anxiety-preventing habit, but also emotionally connect to it... Because I want this habit to STICK for you so you have LESS anxiety in your life.  LET'S GET IT!   [00:01 - 05:22] Opening Segment J.R. shares a story about how he was living in a constant state of anxiety during the Champions Rise Challenge he co-founded and co-hosted during the height of the pandemic.   [05:23 - 12:10] What's The Drill? Tackling the Anxiety Triad Pick ONE point in the Triad (unrealistic standards, perfectionism, or being “always on”). Then do the OPPOSITE of it. Here's how…  If you picked… Unrealistic standards or expectations - identify where your standards or expectations may be too high or unrealistic.  Then ask yourself, “what's more realistic? Considering where I'm at right now in life or in my game or in this relationship, what's more realistic?”  Pursue that expectation and only once you hit that, then raise your bar. Perfectionism - Identify where you're being a perfectionist. Is it going 4 for 4 today because you had an 0-4 day yesterday? Is it nailing EVERY point with perfection on that presentation you have to make? Is it making sure everything goes as planned with your kids today? Once you identify where you're being a perfectionist, determine how you're going to give yourself some more grace. Then commit to that. Being ALWAYS ON - simply put, schedule yourself some breaks. It's a necessary part of getting into flow and unlocking your best.    [12:11 - 14:09] Wrapping Up! Hello my love,  In this episode, we're talking about good ol' anxiety and overthinking. With the holidays coming up, ending off the year, and all the responsibilities we have ALL THE TIME, there is no shortage of things piling up within us.  Constantly bombarding ourselves with the things we should be “doing” or piling up and overthinking about a particular subject, keeps us out of the present. Period. We aren't engaged with the people around us, the things we really SHOULD be committing to, and we aren't leaving room to love ourselves! Here you will learn the TWO VITAL STEPS that I suggest you take in transmuting your anxiety and overthinking into a peaceful, present state of mind.  Be sure to listen to the whole thing, where I share one secret, yet grounding question, you can ask yourself when you catch your brain running on overdrive. Other parts of the conversation include how our nervous system works, and how I have struggled with piling things on top of each other throughout my own life.  Presence, always,  Much love, Nicole P.S. Today's guest is Kate Schoenecker is a Confidence Consultant for Next Level Confident (yes, we work together!) Personal Trainer, and Yoga Instructor! You can check out her IG @mckatester or email her hello@janellelynnae.com "Some people think their walk with anxiety has to be their reality. I don’t have everything figured out but I have experienced a lot of hope and freedom in this area so I’m passionate about helping other women." Anxiety and depression is affecting 40 million adults in the United States. 18.1% of our population. Anxiety is highly treatable, yet only 36.9% of people receive treatment. Kate shares that she’s been battling different forms of anxiety since she was 3 or 4. "I first went to therapy for Tricotilomania. But when I got older, I thought seeing a therapist made me weak. I originally saw a doctor because I thought there was something wrong with my heart, but it turns out they were panic attacks. I had tingly fingers and numbness. A hard time breathing and chest pain." We will answer questions like: How do I know if I have severe anxiety? How can I stop shaming my thoughts? How do I stop unwanted thoughts? How can I use my anxiety for good? Should I go get bloodwork done? How to have a healthy relationship with my body? How can I have a healthy relationship with myself? Why do I have so much social anxiety when I'm heading to an event? Many of us have fearful, intrusive thoughts. These are unwelcome thoughts that cause more and more fears. This can become a scary loop where are you don’t know what is reality and what’s not. One technique that's worked for Kate is naming the fear a persons name.. like Sally. So instead of resisting your intrusive thoughts, play with them! What are the 5 creative things you have done to kick anxiety in the face? 1. Get your bloodwork taken. If you’re missing nutrients, a side effect can be anxiety. I had an Iron deficiency. I went and saw an Integrative RD. 2. Thought play. Create a separate identity for your fear. Being able to laugh at yourself and your taboo thoughts! 3. Keep track of less. What all are you keeping track of? Take an inventory of what all you’re tracking in your brain. Counting Calories. Weighing yourself every day. Social media. 4. Take inventory of your movement patterns. If you’re constantly working out super hard, doing HIIT or long runs, it might be causing elevated stress your levels. Weight lifting. Cardio. If your workouts are always super intense it can lead to chronic stress. “It’s not all about calories in, calories out. Recent studies are showing that stress is playing a bigger role in what your body looks like.” 5. Try something totally new! Keep an open mind. Something you wouldn’t have tried before. Like chiropractic care, acupuncture, a float tank, water coloring. "I don’t need to be ashamed of my anxiety. It’s not weakness. It’s fire! It’s power!" "Slow and steady wins the race. It’s okay that you don’t have it all right now!" Thank you, Kate, for sharing your powerful mind on today's podcast!

Identify the Anxiety: Choose to ID my feelings vs. DISMISS my feelings Anxiety sign posts for me: heart racing; obsessive thoughts on an issue; guilt; irrational, negative thoughts, i.e., “I'm ruining my family's life.” Release the Need to Control: Pray like it depends on God and work like it depends on me. I can only control things within my circle of control. Reframing Mantras: “I have more than enough time to do everything that I need to do.” “I laugh at the days to come.” I release the timeline. No big deal. Rome wasn't built in a day. Manage My Emotions: Avoid emotional extremes of adult temper tantrums or meltdowns. Emotional Intelligence 2.0 Talk to 1 to 2 People: Your partner, coach, friend or therapist Prayer/Meditation/Presence of ️God: Meditation: HeadSpace app taught me about meditation which has really improved my prayer life with Jesus. More time in prayer and the presence of God Self-care: Step outside yourself and observe yourself as if you're a doctor or counselor. 3 S's:  Sleep, Sugar, Stimulants Exercise Nutrition Relationships Routine Kick 2020 off right!! Welcome to How to B Podcast with @brittancreid. Episode 18 with Samantha Hearne founder of A Happy Mind. She is a Anxiety Coach and Podcast Host. Samantha Hearne meets with us to share how anxiety shows up in our lives and the things we can do to overcome it. She’s an award winning anxiety coach, author and podcast host. Samantha coaches women and female entrepreneurs to overcome their anxieties so they can thrive in their lives and businesses. Let’s face it, anxiety is a crippling disorder that prevents people from stepping into their greatness because it isn’t an emotion that can be quantified. Most of us are constantly worried about something in our lives. And through that worry anxiety  magnifies our insecure feelings about how we are seen in this world. While being a full-time teacher, Sam started to build her business, spoke at different events, wrote for mental health blogs and currently she hosts her own podcast. She understands what it means to work really hard on your business while juggling multiple commitments. Anxiety almost derailed her mission to serve. It’s crucial to identify how anxiety is present in your life. Sam states there are three categories of anxiety. They are emotional, circumstantial and physical. Once you begin to understand the differences then the next thing to do is to identify any trends. When you are self-aware and you will notice the trends. From there, you can then create strategies to help reduce your anxieties.   A few nuggets from this episode are: Never be ashamed for your story and never apologize for it. You don’t have to take on other people’s emotions. You can create amazing things in your life and move past the story that’s holding you back. Without understanding yourself nothing can change.   Want to connect more with Samantha?
