After two months of inactivity, I am happy to present another new programme for NuDirections. The program under the name Rise Above aims to help people overcome the sadness and devastation caused by a world in conflict. Never underestimate the healing power of music. I have included some of my favourite tunes I regularly spin at Big Hands, the coolest bar in Manchester, as well as some discoveries like the talented Jon Lucien. I highly recommend listening to his song "Would You Believe in Me" - he may not be a current singer, but he is truly amazing. Good music is timeless and always worth discovering. Another discovery is the vibrant dancehall tune of More Justice and Truth by Virgin Island's reggae star Pressure Busspipe. Another novelty I found recently, is the great tune of Say Truth by Fred Fisher Atalobhor. Inside my DJ boxes, I get my most regular artist's music played in my sets. There you will find Manu Chao, Joe Bataan, Dreadzone, Mo-Horizons, Zulu 9.30, International Velvet and Planet Hemp. Of course, Hip hop artist and producer from Dallas Oneofus with the great track and theme of the programme. Last but not least, Jah is forever is beautiful melody of lovers Rock by Swish Reggae producer Elijah Solomon and and Jamaican singer Glen Washington. My selection is a bunch of exciting tunes for empowering our minds and souls to Rise Above. Playlist 1- Baby Shiva - International Velvet (featuring Mustafa Akbar and Roots of See-I) 2- More Justice and truth - Pressure 3- Say the truth - Fred Fisher Atalobhor and his Ogiza Dance Band 4- Would you believe in me - Jon Lucien 5- Muchacho ordinario - Joe Bataan 6- Me provoca te ver - Manu Chao & Chalart 58 7- Mountain - Dreadzone 8- Frisson - Mukta 9- Southern Fried Funky Lovesong - Mo'Horizons 10- Era - Zulu 9.30 11- A culpa é de Quem - Planet Hemp 12- Rise Above - One of Us (featuring Flotation and Molecular) 13 Jah is forever - Elijah (featuring Glen Washington)

Preparing a company for a flotation (also known as an initial public offering or IPO) is a significant undertaking for a CFO. It involves several crucial steps and considerations to ensure a successful and smooth transition to the public markets. Here's a general roadmap for how a CFO can prepare a company for a flotation: Evaluate the company's readiness: Assess the company's financial health, growth prospects, and market positioning to determine if it's the right time for an IPO. Consider factors such as revenue growth, profitability, competitive landscape, market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Assemblea strong team: Identify and work closely with professionals experienced in IPOs, including investment bankers, legal advisors, auditors, and other relevant experts. Building a knowledgeable and experienced team is crucial for navigating the complexities of the IPO process. Financial statements and compliance: Ensure that the company's financial statements comply with relevant accounting standards and meet the requirements of regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Conduct a thorough audit of financial statements to ensure accuracy and transparency. Due diligence: Prepare the necessary documentation and disclosures required for the IPO, such as a prospectus or registration statement. Conduct comprehensive due diligence to identify any potential legal, financial, or operational issues that may need to be addressed before going public. Financial planning and forecasting: Develop robust financial models and projections that showcase the company's growth potential and profitability to attract investors. Consider factors such as market size, competitive landscape, pricing strategy, capital expenditure plans, and long-term financial goals. Corporate governance and internal controls: Strengthen corporate governance practices and internal control systems to meet the heightened requirements of being a public company. Implement robust financial reporting processes, internal audit functions, and compliance frameworks to ensure transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance. Investor relations and roadshows: Develop an investor relations strategy and communication plan to effectively engage with potential investors. Conduct roadshows and investor presentations to market the company and generate interest among institutional and retail investors. Legal and regulatory compliance: Work closely with legal advisors to ensure compliance with all relevant securities laws, regulations, and disclosure requirements. Address any legal or regulatory issues, potential risks, or contingencies that may impact the IPO process. Operational readiness: Assess the company's operational infrastructure and scalability to handle the increased scrutiny and demands of being a public company. Evaluate areas such as IT systems, reporting capabilities, internal processes, and human resources to ensure they can support the company's growth objectives post-IPO. Risk management and contingency planning: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with going public, such as market volatility, regulatory changes, or adverse events. Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies to address any potential challenges that may arise during or after the IPO. Post-IPO transition: Prepare for the transition to being a public company by establishing investor relations functions, implementing financial reporting processes compliant with regulatory requirements, and adapting to ongoing market and investor expectations. It's important to note that the IPO process can vary depending on the jurisdiction and industry. Working closely with experienced professionals and advisors throughout the preparation and execution phases is crucial to ensure a successful flotation. Ep 228 Pipe Encasement Flotation – Archimedes was the Man! –The Pipeline Podcast – Ep 228 Pipe Encasement Flotation – Archimedes was the Man! – With Scott Jennings Listen to this latest episode of “The Pipeline Podcast” where Scott Jennings talks about “Pipe Encasement Flotation” – In this podcast, Scott explains the relation of buoyancy to construction and how easy it is to calculate the buoyancy force on, say, a pipe within a concrete encasement pour. In this episode, the calculation of pipe flotation (in a concrete encasement pour) is explained. This allows the Contractor to design adequate tiedown for each stick of pipe. Estimation is an important and a high level skill, but knowing the math behind it and being able to analyze this gives the Contractor a greater understanding and will prevent construction mishaps. I hope you find this episode as informative and as exciting as we have. Please let us know your thoughts about the episode! In this episode, we chat to author Jo Hamya about her brilliant novel, Three Rooms. We discuss her subversion of the bildungsroman narrative in order to interrogate the myth of linear progress and what it means to grow up in the wake of Blairism and the 2007-8 financial crash. We speak about the ways in which people might live in proximity to the upper echelons of society and yet never truly enter privileged spaces as a consequence of class, gender, race and politics. Through the lens of Brexit, Trump, Grenfell and the housing crisis, amidst soaring wealth inequality, Jo addresses the myth of meritocracy in contemporary Britain and interrogates the effects of social media upon our psyches. We chat about the notion of patriotism, the commodification of protest, the struggle to take up space in the modern metropolis and what it really means to inhabit a room of one's own in contemporary Britain.
