GM David Howell is the three-time champion of the United Kingdom and holds the record as the youngest player to earn the GM title in UK history. He has been a top 50 player in the world rankings and has a peak rating of 2712. He has been well-known in British chess circles since the age of 8, when he impressively beat GM John Nunn in a blitz game! As David tells, such accomplishments, have come with amazing opportunities, such as playing against and alongside GM Magnus Carlsen and training with GM Garry Kasparov, but he has also had to reckon with significant external expectations placed on him from a young age. In the past year, David has also been getting more involved in chess media. He is now the chess columnist for The Times of London, was one of the broadcasters of 2019 Gibraltar Chess, and has begun doing entertaining “banter blitz” shows for Chess24.com. David also recently released a great instructional DVD, called “Winning Grandmaster Methods: How I Got to 2700.” We discuss all aspects of David’s chess work, and David candidly relives the ups and downs of his chess career, and shares some of the standout stories and improvement advice from his DVD. Rachel Ventura has been a part of Legendary Games for a considerable length of time and managed the business development. Bu that does that mean? With a successful Kickstarter on its way to publish Ultimate Kingdoms, a compilation of Ultimate books from the company’s catalogue, I wanted to talk to Rachel about the operation itself rather than just about the book. Unsurprisingly, she knows exactly what she is talking about and the interview is quite revealing! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Last episode we had JASON NELSON from Legendary Games on the show! Join us for talking Pathfinder, Starfinder, D&D 5E, RPGs, other bits of geekery and gaming, and more--if you dig the show, join us at www.twitch.tv/littleredgoblin on Thursdays at 7PM EST to be a part of the discussions. Thanks!

In this MEGASIZED episode, James Introcaso chats with Sage Stafford and Paul Harpring of Venture Maidens and Chris Zacher of Twin Cities by Night about White Wolf RPGs. Then it's a conversation with Jason Nelson of Legendary Games about science fiction RPGs and his Kickstarter for the Alien Bestiary.
Following the leads discovered in their investigations during Episode 5: The Hardscrabble Connection, our heroes meet up with the Level 21 Crew as scheduled. The discussion proves fruitful, thanks, in part, to Ysoki camaraderie. Next, the adventurers make their way to the Downside Kings' infamous hideout, the Fusion Queen. It has all the hallmarks of a typical night club -- neon lights, a dance floor you can't deny, awkward attempts at conversation, and fights between friends. But the fun doesn't last long, and the adventurers find themselves ambushed by thugs. Will they survive? Crit Bits: Jason Nelson of Legendary Games gives us the inside scoop on their Starfinder-compatible Alien Bestiary.
James Introcaso sits down with Jason Nelson of Legendary Games to discuss forest campaigns and his new Kickstarter for the Forest Kingdom Campaign Compendium. Then it's a conversation with DSPN's own Mike Shea of Sly Flourish about short adventures and his new Kickstarter for Sly Flourish's Fantastic Locations.
Maximising sales in the RPG market is real hard. In fact getting sales in the RPG market is hard. ¿Is it that there are too many products out there, or that there is a lacking in the sales process understanding? Jason Eric Nelson has been learning how to, and selling very well, a lot of books at Legendary Games. With a few successful Kickstarters (some of which I missed) and some truly amazing books out there, he knows what he is talking about. And he was kind enough to give me his time and share some of his knowledge, which was truly interesting for me to hear. I hope you get some good inspiration in this podcast and it helps you boost your sales as much as possible! Enjoy the show!

We talk to legendary games coder Jim Balgey about porting Dragon's Lair to the Sinclair ZX81 (and winning a world record for it) and why the Sega Saturn port of Doom was intentionally crippled. Legendary Games has been creating some impressive material for quite some time now. With a great ability to surround themselves with terrific writers, they hit the mark very, very often. Now Legendary Games have joined forces with a terrific plethora of authors to create Legendary Planet Adventure Path, a very interesting take on the fantasy and science fiction games with this new adventure path for the Pathfinder RPG. I got together with Neil Spicer and Mike Shel, two of the leading people behind this project, to find out more about what it entails and what’s all about. Legendary Planet Adventure path is funded in Kickstarter and I strongly recommend you take a look at it. It looks pretty amazing! Hope you enjoy the show!Apologies for the audio quality in some parts. I tried to clean it up a bit but alas some of it is not great. :(
Legendary Games has been creating Pathfinder material for a while now and they do indeed know what they’re doing. Our very own Endzeitgeist has written numerous reviews of their products and more often than not he’s very complimentary, which is a good sing indeed! It seems that now they’re setting themselves up for something bigger and better than anything they’ve done before and for that they’re in Kickstarter. They have teamed up with Rogue Genius Games, Kobold Press and Dreamscarred Press to create an amazing looking compendium of books to expand on the Pathfinder Mythic rules. Three books, no less. I had the pleasure of interviewing Rachel Ventura and Jason Nelson and got to ask them a lot of questions about the project, their company, their future and a lot more. Hope you enjoy the show!
