Tal van transferactiviteiten bij Picnic PostNL, het dubbele verhaal achter de tranen van Toon Aerts, een opmerkelijke diskwalificatie op het EK veldrijden, het relatief kleine aantal Nederlandse profs zonder contract voor volgend jaar, het vertrek van Premier Tech en het WK Esports dat voor de deur staat. De tweede dag van het WK Veldrijden zit erop. Eén gouden medaille voor Frankrijk en twee voor Nederland. Het waren Tibor Del Grosso en Fem van Empel die zegevierden, maar na afloop werd er vooral gesproken over een zeer ontgoochelde en zelfs boze Lucinda Brand. Verslaggevers Niels Bastiaens en Zeger Schaeken blikken terug op de wedstrijden van vandaag en kijken vooruit naar de crossen van morgen. Dat en meer in de WielerFlits Podcast. Het was Fem van Empel die zaterdag na een nagelbijter voor de derde keer wereldkampioene veldrijden werd. "Er was eigenlijk niets aan de hand. Brand dook in een gat dat niet bestond. Al zag je na afloop wel dat Van Empel aangedaan was door de woorden van Brand. Ze had het er niet makkelijk mee." Verder viel ook de dominantie van Del Grosso weer op. Hij werd op zeer sterke wijze wereldkampioen bij de beloften. "Eigenlijk is Del Grosso de U23-categorie ontgroeid", haalt Niels aan. "Hij vertelde vandaag ook voor het eerst dat hij tijdens het seizoen af en toe zich afvroeg of hij ook bij de elite zou kunnen meedraaien. Dat heeft hij op het NK al bewezen. Ik ben er zeker van dat Del Grosso op weg is naar de absolute top." Tot slot hebben de mannen het nog over het nieuws rond de Wereldbeker én natuurlijk de crossen van zondag. Dan staat het hoofdgerecht van dit WK veldrijden op het menu: de cross bij de elite mannen. Wat betekenen de recente evoluties van het parcours? Zeger neigt richting het kamp Van der Poel. "Je ziet dat techniek een grotere rol speelt dan verwacht. Er wordt ook weinig gelopen en de modder is ook anders dan verwacht. Dit is niet de modder waar Van Aert van houdt."
