If you've stumbled upon this gem of an episode, you're either incredibly lucky or you're one of the people who have helped us get to episode 22. In either case, thank you so much. On this episode, we have our very first guest who is known in the physical therapy world as Tom "The Man With the Magic Fingers" but we know him as Tom Sutton. Brian has been diving into the realm of Undertale. Josh finished Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and also dabbled with some Gang Beasts on Steam. Dave has been playing some Alan Wake and Diablo 3. And Tom has been summoning his inner hero of might and magic while actually playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition. The stocks are looking good this week down on Dave's Stock Corner. In the news, Microsoft has delayed Crackdown 3 yet again, VR is on the decline, and Tom (who is not a representative of EA) schools us on Madden NFL 2018 and why it's better than the previous years. Finally, we read some comments, talk about our most satisfying moments in gaming, and read an email that may or may not have anything to do with Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. And somewhere in the midst of all of that, we get quizzed on some Nintendo launch titles. Feel free to send us an email at superbscast@gmail.com and subscribe to us on iTunes. Also, if you would be so kind, rate and review us. We hope you enjoy this episode! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Drag Time with Heklina is back! Our very special guest is an author, journalist, model, cultural curator, and glam icon Angie Bowie! We ask her about her legendary work as an image maker, including 7 years of training in couture, followed by the fashioning of David Bowie with designer Freddie Burretti. She tells us about making the deals and getting the means to build the team to make the shows look the way they wanted them to look in those early days, including David Bowie's transformation from folk strummer to glam superstar. We wanted to know about her 1982 appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test, with Mick Karn from the English new wave band Japan and she tells us everything! Nerd Alert! Marc had to know all about Angie's interest in Marvel and DC comics, including her role in visioning Wonder Woman (as we know her). It turns out to be one of those fascinating show-business gotcha stories. She and Stan Lee were both ahead of their time. We get to find out what they might have done together if only they had access to the technology of computers at the time…but you really have to hear her tell it. You can also check out all of her books on her website www.AngieBowie.net, which is a great place to pick up a gift for that special someone such as an autographed copy Backstage Passes, Lipstick Legends, POP.SEX and more! Listen in to this episode where we learn all about “bad hype”, Magic Fingers, and “getting to the nook!” with Angie Bowie! 023: Bongo Ben. Bongo Ben is a live percussionist and session musician with current residencies for Clockwork Orange and Lovejuice. Inspired by the likes of local percussionist Magic Fingers as well as Defected’s Shovell and Manumission’s Pav, Ben purchased his own bongos and became self-taught by watching videos of these performers on YouTube. Quickly making a name for himself within his local scene Ben visited Ibiza for the first time and, armed with nothing more than a pair of bongos and a positive attitude, found himself playing at Space by the end of that initial trip. Ben’s career so far has seen him play alongside superstar DJs at iconic venues across the world, including: Amnesia, Café Mambo, Pikes, Printworks and Fabric. In this chat we discover how he has made it this far without ever having had any kind of formal training, his favourite moments from events he’s played at and about the time he ended up playing alongside Idris Elba at Ibiza’s Hi superclub. Everything To Guppy is a bite-sized, four-times weekly comedy/gaming podcast in which Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. This week we're taking some time to spotlight the member of the band that is frequently mocked and believed to be totally replaceable. That's right, we're talking about our friend, the bassist! We're covering just a few who we truly admire, talk about what sets them apart and how they've honed their craft to make their music legendary. You may think they just play a couple notes to backup the lead guitarist, or maybe you understand the skills they need to become truly great. But if you're the former, after listening to this, you should never scoff at a bassist again! And if you go get yourself a 6 pack of Funkengruven from Destihl Brewing to wash it down with, you may just never scoff again.Proudly a part of the Pantheon Podcast Network!

A Way with Words — language, linguistics, and callers from all over
Do you ever wonder why the almost-human characters that appear in video games can seem downright creepy? That disturbing sensation is called "the uncanny valley." Speaking of creepy, do you know someone with a morbid fear of clowns? There's a term for that, too. Why do politicians suspend a campaign instead of just ending it? How is it that the sentence Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo actually makes sense? Plus, onomatopoeia for the digital age, a magic word quiz, and the kippie bags and vaporwakes you'll find in the airport security line.FULL DETAILSWhat is it about lifelike robots and the humanoid characters in movies like The Polar Express that feels so disturbing? Robotics scientist Masahiro Mori dubbed this phenomenon the uncanny valley. It's evident with movies like The Polar Express. There are lots of interesting articles explaining this creepy sensation in Slate http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/gaming/2004/06/the_undead_zone.html, Wired, http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011-07/19/uncanny-valley-tested, and on the NPR blog. http://www.npr.org/blogs/13.7/2012/01/20/145504032/story-telling-and-the-uncanny-valleyWhen selling a house, the last thing you want is to take a bath--or, for that matter, a haircut. The first of these refers to getting cleaned out of money. The second is an allusion to the idea of being left with just two bits, or 25 cents.Be careful with that lazy man's load! http://www.fromoldbooks.org/Grose-VulgarTongue/l/lazy-mans-load.html That's the oversize armful you carry when you're transporting things and take too much to avoid making another trip. Why do politicians say they're going to suspend a campaign? Aren't they really just ending it? Under Federal Election Commission funding regulations, politicians can continue to collect money for paying off campaign fees well after an election, so long as their campaign is just suspended.
