Ron drops a wild, hilarious, and kinda heartbreaking bomb right out the gate: as a neglected feral kid living in an attic, his lips got so chapped they looked like he had four lips. Cue lifelong chapstick dependency and nonstop roasting from Opie. Then marine biologist FishGuyPhotos (Chris) rolls in with a full-on tick apocalypse report, drone shark facts, whale updates, why mermaids are just horny sailors hallucinating manatees, and why your lobster roll might be doomed. Throw in Opie's chaotic hero moment — fumbling ibuprofen like a Butterfingers commercial while his daughter saves the day with a dusty first-aid kit — and you've got one of the funniest, weirdest, most unhinged episodes yet. Trauma, ticks, ticks, and lifesaving drama. You're gonna wanna hear this one. Thanks for donating to the show https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/JANCGHFW7GJHA it motivates us to make more!

Quick recap This was episode 274 of “That Sounds Funny,” a podcast hosted by Keith, Terry, and Jill, where they discussed various news stories and personal updates. The episode began with the hosts sharing personal news including Terry’s recent visit to the VA hospital and Jill’s experience teaching loom knitting at a local coffee shop. The trio then engaged in a detailed trivia quiz about the movie “Old Yeller” before Terry presented a top 10 list of April Fool’s Day pranks featuring fictional products like “Coke Sauce” and “Dude Wipes Butt Mask.” The episode concluded with an anchor topic about orientation and mobility, covering navigation techniques and the use of GPS systems for blind individuals, with the hosts inviting listeners to submit questions about blindness-related topics. Summary Terry discussed his recent visit to the VA hospital for therapy and upcoming changes to his compression garments. The group briefly discussed current events including the rescue of downed pilots and the lunar mission, before transitioning to personal updates including Jill’s experience teaching loom knitting. Jill shared her recent visit to the Post Common in Alton, a repurposed post office now serving as a coffee shop and social space, where she learned about an upcoming crafting event. She also discussed attending Easter services with her family, including her daughter and grandchildren, and mentioned a humorous observation about a church member’s appearance. News of the Week Terry shared wildlife experts’ warnings about the dangers of discarded vape cartridges, noting that squirrels have been observed interacting with them. Jill then discussed an incident where an American Airlines flight was delayed due to a swarm of bees in the engine, which were safely removed and relocated. Keith concluded by sharing that Philadelphia International Airport set a Guinness World Record for the longest line of Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, which were made to celebrate Philly Cheesesteak Day. Terry shared a story about a rattlesnake entering a couple’s bedroom in Texas, which was safely removed by a snake wrangler. Jill then talked about a 44-year-old dove named Sugar from Missouri, which holds a Guinness record for the oldest living dove in captivity. Keith mentioned the theft of 12 tons of Kit Kat chocolate bars from a truck in Europe. The conversation concluded with Terry sharing a story about a green meteor seen in Oregon, which some speculated might have been debris from the Artemis rocket’s toilet problem. Jill's Trivia Quiz The group engaged in a trivia quiz about the movie “Old Yeller,” discussing various aspects of the film including characters, plot points, and actors. They identified answers through discussion and research, with Chuck Connors being confirmed as the actor who played Vern Sanderson. Terry's Top 10 List The group discussed various fictional or hypothetical product collaborations, including Cane Sauce Coca-Cola, Dude Wipes Butt Mask, and Puff’s pastry sheet masks. They also talked about a UGG umbrella clip, a chocolate phone case, a Mash Gang Office Keg for non-alcoholic beer, and a potential collaboration between Top Ramen and Butterfingers. The discussion was informal and focused on finding humor in these creative product ideas, with participants sharing their thoughts and questions about each concept. Anchor Topic The group then discussed the upcoming anchor topic about orientation and mobility, with Keith explaining the concepts of mental mapping and physical movement. Keith provided insights on using tools like GPS, guide dogs, and canes for navigation, while Jill’s and Terry’s comment highlighted practical challenges with GPS routing and one-way streets. The discussion concluded with Keith inviting listeners to submit questions about blindness-related topics for future podcast episodes. Email and Final Thoughts Keith shared several listener emails featuring humorous stories. The first email described a scenario where an 18-year-old girl informed her parents about a pregnancy, leading to a visit from the potential father who offered financial support based on the gender and outcome of the pregnancy. The second email told a story about a fast-food worker whose morning was delayed by a police officer blocking the driveway, only to encounter the same officer as a customer later that day, resulting in a public dressing down by the police captain. Keith shared a voicemail about a creative revenge story where a woman, after being dumped by her husband of 37 years, filled the curtain rods in their home with shrimp shells and caviar before leaving, causing a persistent smell that eventually forced the new owners to sell at a significantly reduced price. Keith shared another voicemail about a ski trip story about John and Keith staying in a barn with a widow, which ended with John inheriting her estate. The final word from our AI companion The group then shared various dad jokes and humorous one-liners. At the end, Keith announced that listeners could find more shows on their website www.thatsoundsfunny.com, where they could also subscribe, leave comments, and donate to support the show. The Black Lincoln Collective Comedy Podcast: Episode #144 on PopCulturePros (also known as #231 overall, which means danger is now a recurring segment)Title: Unarmed and DangerousAlright, it's Farace—and this week Fred proves once again that survival is more of a suggestion than a priority. The man nearly takes himself out in a showdown with… a shelf. Yes, a shelf. Butterfingers included. It's a harrowing tale of poor decisions, worse coordination, and the kind of story that makes you question how he's made it this far. Then we get what can only be described as a full-blown baby-level meltdown over whether Chuck Norris belongs in the BLC Hall of Fame. The debate gets heated, logic gets thrown out the window, and somehow they still don't land the plane clean. Is Chuck in? Is he out? Is anyone qualified to decide? Absolutely not—but that won't stop them. And to close out Wack History Month, the crew unloads a greatest-hits collection of absolute nonsense: a boutique owner getting arrested like it's a loyalty program, a woman saved by boiled peanuts (which, let's be honest, checks out), and a pro cornhole player briefly becoming “armed and dangerous.” Episode #144 is chaotic, ridiculous, and dangerously close to making sense. Press play and enjoy Fred vs. furniture—Round 1.

Interview by Ali KBrisbane's Community radio station 4ZZZ is celebrating 50 years of being on the airwaves. Known for being the springboard for most of Brisbane's best-known musicians and bands, the station has been an integral part of their journeys. The day will be market day style, reminiscent of the original market days 4ZZZ held at Roma Street Parklands. Regurgitator have well and truly formed their position as one of Brisbane's most well-known artists who, like many before and after, had their music on radio hosts' playlists at Zed Headquarters. Joining The Gurg on the line-up for Saturday's celebrations will be The Saints, Butterfingers, Tropical Fuck Storm, Big Noter, Screamfeeder, Party Dozen, Flangipanis, plus many more. The Gurg's Ben Ely shares with HEAVY some of that nostalgia, noting that their reappearance on the stage at The Parklands will be the first time they've played since their initial gig there back in 1994. With a whopping four songs they'd written and an old drum sampler that played sounds of dogs barking and glass shattering, Regurgitator took to the stage and gave it all they had, having to play two songs twice in order to fill the time slot. The Gurg also announced their JUKEBOXXIN Tour, which kicks off in November. These guys have locked in for the long haul, taking their tour literally everywhere through until around August 2026, including New Zealand and Japan. They will be playing all 58 of their singles over an extended show that'll be in two sets. Joining them as support will be South Australia's Dem Mob. Tickets and event details for Zed 50 can be found at Oztix or via https://4zzz.org.au. I'm a rent me a castle in Scotland. I just heard that story about the, King Charles dog treats, that are made in Balmoral. Very nice. And it's so they're talking about renting a castle in Scotland. I found one. This is from Arbroath, Scotland. You can rent this for $1,080 a night. Might be worth it. It sleeps 16, by the way. So there you go. Might do that. Well, here in South Carolina, our governor, Henry McMaster, has decided to go along with RFK Junior and president Trump and actually introduce new restrictions on SNAP benefits. Yeah. And I think this is a good idea. I really do. Governor McMaster announced today that South Carolina will soon impose new restrictions on how low income residents can use their supplemental nutrition assistant program benefits. Now here, what is the keyword that we're looking at there in the snap nutritional. Nutritional. Now, folks, I love my butter fingers. I love my Reese's peanut butter cups, but I know that they are not nutrition. They are just there is nothing nutritious about it. No doctors ever said, you know, Charlie, I think you you need to eat more Butterfingers. I'd you need two you need two more full sugar Pepsis and, and and more Butterfingers, and that'll get you that'll get you rider's ring. It's not nutrition. It is a treat. It's a luxury. In a post on eggs, McMaster said he plans to issue the executive order directing the Department of Social Services to impose common sense limits on snap purchases. He said America is getting healthy, and South Carolina will do her part. In the next few days, I will issue an executive order directing the Department of Social Services to place common sense limits on purchases using SNAP benefits formerly known as food stamps. Now right now, about 580,000 South Carolinians get, SNAP benefits according to the Department of Agriculture. The executive order comes several months after a bill aiming to limit SNAP purchases. Here we go. Gotta go right back to the state legislature on this one and go, hey, guys. You're the problem. You're literally the problem here in South Carolina. These Republicans in Columbia, there was a bill aimed at limiting SNAP purchases, and that failed to advance in the South Carolina house. Of course, because the South Carolina house is where common sense goes to die. The legislation titled the South Carolina SNAP Nutrition Integrity Act would have barred recipients from purchasing things like candy and soft drinks. The bill defined candy and goes on to define we all know what candy is. We don't have to be told. Boss, that effort stalled in the legislature. This is from watch Fox fifty seven. While that effort stalled in the legislature, McMaster's executive action may implement similar restrictions through administrative channels. So I think it's a good idea, but not but you would think because that's all we hear, and people are people are screaming about this. Oh, he's limited our benefit. There's one guy. Let me find it see if I can find this quote here. I thought it was, pretty interesting. Yeah. One guy, this guy named Tim, he was out grocery shopping with his son. He was interviewed. He said, they're trying to dictate what you do with your benefits. When you tell people what they can and can't get, it takes away your freedom. Mister Wise, you've got the freedom to get off SNAP benefits altogether, if that's what you want. Is that your idea of freedom? Being able to go buy Twizzlers and and and and Skittles? Something that's actually gonna contribute to things like, I don't know, type two diabetes, poor health, cardiovascular disease, all of this stuff. Wood free well, there you go. Public health consultant doctor Bamby Gaddis highlighted additional components of the proposed changes, including the expanded work requirements. There are expanded work requirements that are potentially going to go into effect, which may be disconcerting disconcerting and problematic for some people, especially people who ar ...

Dive into the hilarious, unfiltered world of John and Jay as they tackle everything from post-Easter reflections to passionate metal music discoveries in this episode that feels like hanging out with your most entertaining friends. The conversation kicks off with lighthearted "Zombie Jesus Day" greetings before evolving into what might be the most comprehensive candy debate you'll ever hear. From the mysterious cold interior of Ferrero Rochers to the eternal struggle between Snickers and Butterfingers, the hosts dissect their childhood favorites with surprising detail and enthusiasm. Their pronunciation debate over "caramel" versus "carmel" perfectly captures the show's ability to find humor in the everyday.Things take a scathing turn when the hosts review a new Mexican restaurant committing cardinal dining sins—paper plates, no complimentary chips, and overpriced canned sodas instead of fountain drinks. This critique stands in stark contrast to their praise for exceptional establishments like a local deli offering rare free orange juice refills and a solid burger joint experience at Kalahari resort. The episode's heart truly emerges during an extensive metal music exploration segment where John and Jay discover bands like Wage War and Gideon with genuine excitement that's contagious even to casual listeners. Their descriptions of "chunky riffage" and concert experiences reveal their authentic passion for music discovery.Between these main discussions, unexpected moments keep things interesting—from the outrageous "Gabagool Gals" Brooklyn character segment to Tim's surprise appearance during a bathroom break. The episode wraps with touching gratitude for their listeners, especially those supporting Jay's game store venture.Ready for a podcast that feels like hanging with friends at their most authentic and entertaining? Finding balance has been a challenge for me. I'm trying my best, but happy to be back. I was making content since I was a kid and didn't know it until now. Paying more attention to the things I consume when it comes to content. If it doesn't serve a purpose in my life... I'm not going to bother with it. DComs have been a joy to rewatch, especially with Alvaro. We're all in this together! Let's go wild cats! Butterfingers are underrated, and please give them a try. I just don't understand pimple stars...I don't get the trend and never will. I guess Alvaro and I are in the point in our marriage where we hide toothpaste from each other. I'm happy he found one that he likes to use. It's the simple gifts that mean more to me than an expensive gift. Thanks for listening!

I loved my five days there. I encountered keen politeness. The truck stop guy who said, “I appreciate your business” when I paid for my two Butterfingers. The hotel clerk. I walked a long hall to my room and three cleaning ladies looked up and said, “Good morning.” When I left Austin on Monday, a man walked up to me in the airport and said quietly, “I want to thank you for all the pleasure you've given people over the years.”Nobody ever said that to me before in just that graceful way. I was touched. At my age, you should've given some pleasure to people and he was thanking me for it, not as a fan but on behalf of people in general. Now I wish I had thrown my arms around him. On the morning of Kol Nidrei—Friday, October 11 to be exact—my colleagues and I were doing a Kabbalat Shabbat service with our youngest learners, our preschool children who range in age from 15 months to 5 years old.  Yom Kippur was in the air. Kol Nidrei with all its solemnity, was in 9 hours.  How to convey Kol Nidrei intensity to our youngest learners? So I asked them: what is your favorite Jewish holiday?  One hand after another shot up.  The first young child answered:  Halloween!  The second learner spoke up: Halloween! And so it would go.  Surprisingly, not a single child said Yom Kippur was their favorite Jewish holiday.  No three-year-old said I just love Unetaneh Tokef.  The clear choice for favorite Jewish holiday of our youngest learners is Halloween. I have been thinking about their response, and while of course Halloween is not a Jewish holiday, in a deep way, they are right.  Holidays are supposed to be joyful. What is more joyful than Halloween the way we practice it today?  It's about parents and children planning out costumes, walking the streets together in search of candy bars, and dividing the spoils at the end of the night. It's about neighborhood and community.  It's about creativity.  So many families really do up Halloween with intricate gothic scenes.  It's about fun. And of course it is about Heath Bars, Butterfingers, Snickers Bars, Kit Kats. All good stuff. Maybe our youngest learners are on to something. There is only one problem.  The Halloween so many of us observe, sweet neighbors giving sweet children sweets,  works great for children.  But in the real world adults face complexity.  Joy does not come so easily for us.

You start to feel lazy and unmotivated because you lack the grit and self-discipline to see anything through to the end. Often we lack the motivation to do what success demands of us because we don't have an identity that aligns with the outcome we say we want. Our poor habits and inability to show up consistently to create the outcome and experience we say we want creates a greater distance between where we are and where we want to go.Anthony Trucks started with an enormous gap between the 3 year old that entered the foster care system, the teenager they called “Butterfingers,” and the NFL player turned motivational speaker, bestselling author, life coach and podcast host. He advocates the value of hard work and suffering that creates experiences, opportunities and outcomes that make it possible to build a new identity. He helps people learn and do what it takes to shift their identity. In this episode, we're deep diving into 3 skills Anthony believes will help you avoid being lazy and learn to stay motivated and take action even when you don't think it's possible.SHOW NOTES:0:00 | Introduction to Anthony Trucks0:08 | Create an Internal Structure11:32 | Shift Your Identity26:24 | Commit to Do What Is Hard42:09 | Work in the Dark, Shine Brighter55:53 | Rebuilding a Failed MarriageQUOTES:“I like the idea that perspective precedes enlightenment.” [1:33]“It's interesting how people with the most idotic views can frame them so eloquently now.” [3:40]“People don't understand that you can entertain an idea without adopting it.” [10:37]“I believed the fact that if I did nothing, then nothing would get better.” [15:19]“I get the desire to want to feel good in your own skin, but the solution isn't to avoid the fact that you don't feel that great.” [19:15]“One of the problems we have in society now is that we coddle kids and we rob them of their hardships.” [32:40]“I'd done too much work in the dark for you to take what's mine in the light.” [42:42]“A lot of people are trying to shine in the light without having done that dark work.” [44:51]“You are what you consistently do.” [45:18]“I craft a specific experience for myself because I have to experience something to rewire it.” [49:29]Follow Anthony Trucks:Website: https://anthonytrucks.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/anthonytrucks Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AnthonyTrucks Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anthonytrucks/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/anthonytrucks
