Rares sont les artistes venant de Nouvelle Calédonie – cet archipel du pacifique situé à 2 000 kilomètres des côtes australiennes et 16 000 kilomètres de Paris – qui parviennent à se faire une place dans le paysage musical international. Avec son reggae roots résolument spirituel et engagé, Marcus Gad, 31 ans, l'a fait ! Rencontre, à Paris, avec un éternel voyageur, un être solaire, un artiste fédérateur. Depuis le succès de son premier album Chanting en 2017, Marcus Gad ne cesse de faire parler de lui et de ces productions pointues et audacieuses. Attaché à un reggae roots résolument spirituel et engagé, le Calédonien l'a remis au goût du jour jusqu'à en proposer dans son troisième et dernier opus, Brave New World, en collaboration avec le beatmaker parisien Tamal, une fusion électro inédite. Eternel voyageur (il a multiplié les périples en Éthiopie comme en Inde ou en Amérique du Sud), Marcus Gad est animé par une insatiable soif d'apprendre (la permaculture, les méthodes de vie en communauté) et n'est pas facile à « attraper ». Bonne nouvelle : ce quatrième roman de Mohamed Mbougar Sarr est lauréat du Prix Goncourt 2021. Une série de récits qui repose sur le livre Le Labyrinthe de l'inhumain, publié dans les années 1930 par l'auteur culte, T.C.
