In this episode, we discuss migration to the Vision system for EMIS users in Scotland, focusing on key aspects of preparation. Some advantages of the new hosted environment include automatic backups, improved access to clinical systems across multiple sites, more collaborative working, and the ability to use non-medical prescribing with barcoded scripts. Vision Anywhere provides a secure backup system, and offers offline access to patient records, and can be used for home visits. Preparatory steps for migration include the management of non-DM&D drugs, addressing unissued acute scripts, and understanding the Vision system's "Preferred Pharmacy" approach. The migration process involves a structured pre-go-live period with data validation, training, and familiarization with the Vision interface and functionality. GPs are encouraged to complete training, utilize the trial system for their practice, and familiarize themselves with system basics. Transferring methods of working can start now, as users understand how they need to use the new system, re-build data entry templates, appointments, recall and messaging systems. We speak to Dawn Ellis, one of the IT Facilitation Managers working with the NSS GP IT Re-provisioning Team, about how practices, and GPs in particular, can start to approach preparation for migration. We also hear from Dr Mark Kirk, of the Avon Practice in Lanarkshire, which is the first practice to have completed the migration from EMIS to Vision, about how he feels about the move. By accessing the NSS GP IT practice toolkit and actively engaging in available training resources, GPs can effectively adapt to the new system, ensuring improved efficiency and minimizing potential anxieties associated with this significant change. Welcome back to The More We Know! Because the more we know, the more we grow. Your mentor today is Bushra Amiwala. Bushra Amiwala is one of the youngest elected muslim officials in history and daughter of immigrants who truly appreciates diversity in its many beautiful forms. As communities across our nation – the working poor, religious and ethnic minorities, and young changemakers who are ignored by political establishments – are pushed aside, Bushra is a committed voice for underrepresented citizens. She seeks to ensure that our nation's future is in good hands by building a compassionate, politically-engaged generation. Amiwala was born in Chicago and lived in the Rogers Park area until she was 10. Her family then moved to Skokie, where she graduated from Niles North High School.  She began her political career as an intern for Republican senator Mark Kirk, and was encouraged by her field office manager, Benjamin Polony, to run her own campaign for the Cook County Board of Commissioners as a college freshman. She came in second in the Democratic primaries, earning 14,988 votes, a total of 30.6% of the vote in a three-person race.  Amiwala began an annual service project on her birthday, and in 2018 made and distributed hundreds of care packages in the Chicago area with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, who endorsed her campaign.  Amiwala was named one of Glamour Magazine's 2018 College Women of the Year.  Amiwala is an avid public speaker and has spoken in many events such as TEDxDePaul University and Harvard University to name a few.  She is one of the subjects of an original documentary called And She Could Be Next on PBS.  She is also the female candidate on Amazon Prime's RUN The Series. She is currently the subject of an original Hulu documentary called Our America: Women Forward.Listen To The More We Know ⇨ https://www.buzzsprout.com/1134704Subscribe ⇨https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxvfd5ddf72Btbck8SdeyBwFollow my Instagram ⇨ https://www.instagram.com/sameer.sawaqed/?hl=enFollow my Twitter ⇨ https://twitter.com/commitwithmeer

With the defeat of the Axis Powers in 1945, the United States emerged as the strongest nation on earth. But rather than emulate hegemons of the past, American leaders envisioned a new and different world order. Their goal was to organize an "international community," establish "universal human rights," and a growing body of "international law." This project required new institutions, in particular the United Nations. Three quarters of a century later, it requires willful blindness not to see that the UN and many other international organizations have become bloated and corrupt bureaucracies, increasingly serving the interests of despots. To discuss what’s gone wrong and what might be done to prevent the UN and other international organizations from drifting further into the clutches of authoritarians host Clifford D. May is joined by Richard Goldberg, Orde Kittrie, and Emma Reilly. Rich Goldberg is a Senior Advisor at FDD. Among his many government positions, Rich previously served as the Director for Countering Iranian Weapons of Mass Destruction for the National Security Council, and Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Foreign Policy Adviser to former Mark Kirk, both when Kirk was in the House and then the Senate. Rich is also an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. We thank him for his service. Also joining is Orde Kittrie. He, too, is a Senior Fellow at FDD as well as a professor of law. He is a leading expert on nonproliferation law and policy, and an expert on international law, particularly as it relates to the Middle East. On lawfare, well, he wrote the book. It’s title: Lawfare: Law as a Weapon of War. Orde served for over a decade in various legal and policy positions at the U.S. State Department. He was a lead US negotiator at the UN for the treaty on the suppression of acts of nuclear terrorism and participated in drafting several UN Security Council resolutions. Joining, too, is Emma Reilly who has worked in the field of human rights for almost 20 years. She joined the UN Human Rights Office in 2012. In 2013, she blew the whistle on an exceptional and dangerous policy: UN bureaucrats giving to the Chinese government the names of dissidents, including US citizens, who planned to engage UN human rights mechanisms. The bureaucracy’s response: To not fix the problem and to attempt to fire her instead. All three join host Cliff May for this episode to discuss what happened and what, if anything, can be done moving forward to combat this high level of corruption.
