Today's episode feels like pure science fiction. What is a digital twin? How could this help us make better and faster pharmaceuticals? And why is that important? We know that there is so much data about us and our bodies and soon, our brains. Is there a reality in which we can use data to remove human testing from the process of finding new drugs? How can we use machine learning and artificial intelligence to better understand the data that we have? If this feels like something with massive, profound implications for our future, you're right. CeADAR, Ireland's National Centre for Applied AI, funded by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland, has developed and released a suite of tools designed to help businesses and researchers to understand and evaluate use cases for rapid and ongoing developments in the field of generative artificial intelligence. The four tools are designed to empower businesses with an understanding of ways in which they could use generative AI and to make informed decisions when it comes to choosing from the vast array of available solutions. CeADAR has released these tools to build trust in AI and drive its adoption by Irish businesses while helping them to address ethical, security and regulatory concerns before they deploy generative AI. Generative AI, capable of producing content that mirrors its training data, is used across diverse business sectors. Central to CeADAR's toolkit is the analysis of Large Language Models (LLMs) - the technology behind generative AI solutions like ChatGPT. The emergence of ChatGPT has paved the way for a multitude of LLMs, both open-source and proprietary. The first of CeADAR's new tools LLMXplorer, evaluates over 155 of these LLMs and offers a consolidated overview of features, so users can understand their characteristics and make informed decisions based on their own requirements. The tool also acts as a reservoir for over 50 available datasets for pre-training and fine-tuning of the LLM. Free access to LLMXplorer can be requested via Google Form. The second tool is a report, Building Trust in Conversational AI: A Comprehensive Review and Solution Architecture using LLMs and Knowledge Graphs. This document provides insights into the evolving landscape of conversational AI, emphasising the imperative for systems to be efficient, explainable, transparent, and trustworthy. The third is AIVision360, a pioneering domain-specific dataset for AI news designed expressly for the fine-tuning of LLMs. It is suitable for training language models and enhancing their capacity in AI news discussions. The fourth tool comprises of two open-source LLMs specifically fine-tuned for AI News trend analysis named NewsConnect 7B and NewsConnect 13B. These are state-of-the-art, open-source chat models for technology, media, AI news discussions, AI news generation and interpretation. The two open-source LLMs and AIVision360 are available free on CeADAR's Hugging Face. Data for the third and fourth tools is drawn from AI NewsHub, which is CeADAR's digital news platform for global developments in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The tools were developed in CeADAR by Dr Arsalan Shahid and his team of data scientists.. Technology Solutions Lead and Head of CeADAR Connect Group, Dr Arsalan Shahid, said: "In today's digital landscape, the integration of Generative AI into businesses is essential for value creation and productivity. Yet, the trustworthiness and ethical use of AI remains our North Star. Our recent release of open-source tools stands as a testament to CeADAR's commitment to open research, ensuring businesses can swiftly adapt in this dynamic AI landscape. As we refine domain-specific Large Language Models for sectors like finance, healthcare and the legal domain, our mission is clear: to empower industries with AI tools that are not only cutting-edge but also align with the highest standards of trust and ethics." CeADAR Centre Director, Dr Edward McDonnell said: "The CeADAR Centre has developed and released a suite of tools to help companies trial Generative AI. This initiative underscores CeADAR's commitment to provide businesses in Ireland with cutting-edge tools and resources to take full advantage of the new and emerging technologies in the field of AI. Our aim is to accelerate the widespread adoption of AI for the benefit of society and the international competitiveness of our industry base." Many people say DevOps is dead with the introduction of serverless. Responsibilities change from infrastructure management to platform engineering. But what happens when you throw generative AI into the mix? How does this shake up what we now know as DevOps and what does it hold for the future? Is DevOps going to die? Omkar and Allen talk about the human aspect of DevOps and debate if this will still be something we're practicing in 5 years. About OmkarOmkar Kadam is a Lead DevOps Engineer at Cactus Communications, an AWS Community Builder, and a passionate problem solver with exceptional Solution Architecture skills.  Welcome to another episode of The New Quantum Era Podcast hosted by Kevin Rowney and Sebastian Hassinger. Today, they are joined by another distinguished researcher, Dr. Harry Buhrman. Dr. Buhrman is a professor at the University of Amsterdam, he's a director at the CWI, and he's the director at Qusoft as well. He's got a long and illustrious career in quantum information. Today, Dr. Buhrman takes us through some of his earlier work and some of his areas of interest, and he also discloses details of his recent paper which was going to be called Ultra Fast Quantum Circuits for Quantum State Preparation, but was posted to the arXiv as State preparation by shallow circuits using feed forward, which provides fascinating results with respect to the core architecture divided into four layers and time complexity around that framework.Key Takeaways:[4:45] Sebastian introduces Dr. Harry Buhrman.[5:31] How did Dr. Buhrman become interested in Quantum Computing?[9:31] Dr. Buhrman remembers the first time he heard about the complexity class known as fast quantum polynomial time, or BQP.[11:35]  Dr. Buhrman and Richard Cleve started working on communication complexity.[14:14] Dr. Buhrman discusses the opportunity that arose after Shor's algorithm.[14:53] Dr. Buhrman has also written biology papers explaining how he became involved in this field.[18:05] Is quantum computation and quantum algorithms the main focus now regarding Dr. Buhrman's areas of study?[20:06] Software and hardware are codependent, so codesigning is needed.[20:58]. What are the big unsolved problems in the areas of time complexity and hierarchy for quantum? [24:50] Does Dr. Buhrman think it's possible that there could be a future where some of the classical time complexity problems could be powerfully informed by quantum information science and Quantum Time complexity discovery?[27:32] Does Dr. Buhrman think that, over time, the distinction between classical information theory and quantum information theory will erode?[28:50] Dr. Burhman talks about his Team's most recent paper.[33:55]  Dr. Buhrman's group is using tmid-circuit measurement and classical fan out to extend the amount of computation time [35:04] How does this approach differ from VQE or QAOA?[38:35] About Dr. Buhrman's current paper, is he thinking through algorithms that may be able to be implemented in at least toy problems sort of scale to try this theory out and implementation?{39:22] Sebastian talks about  QubiC, an open-source Lawrence Berkeley National Lab project.[41:14]  Dr. Buhrman recognizes he is very much amazed by the fact that when he started in this field in the mid-late 90s, it was considered very esoteric and beautiful but probably wouldn't lead to anything practical.[43:49] Dr. Buhrman assures that there is a chance that those intractable problems for classical computing also remain intractable for quantum computers.[44:24] What's the next big frontier for Dr. Buhrman and his team?[47:03] Dr. Buhrman explains Quantum Position Verification used for implementing secure communication protocols.[50:56] Sebastian comments on the hilarious and interesting titles for papers Dr. Buhrman comes up with.[53:10] Kevin and Sebastian share the highlights of an incredible conversation with Dr. Buhrman.Mentioned in this episode:Visit The New Quantum Era PodcastQuantum entanglement and communication complexityThe first peptides: the evolutionary transition between prebiotic amino acids and early proteinsA Qubit, a Coin, and an Advice String Walk Into a Relational ProblemSix hypotheses in search of a theoremTweetables and Quotes:“ Biological processes are quantum mechanical, and sometimes you need the quantum mechanical description to understand them, and indeed, quantum computers could be of great help in simulating them and understanding them better than we currently do.“ — Dr. Harry Buhrman“There's a huge gap between what we can do and what we can prove is true.“ — Dr. Harry Buhrman“Our problems have become bigger but also more interesting, I would say.“ — Dr. Harry Buhrman“We're not the first ones to see that having mid-computation measurements plus classical feed forwards actually is very useful and can help you solve problems or generate states that if you don't have this  are impossible  to make.” — Dr. Harry Buhrman“Big companies are very interested in QC not only for building quantum computers but also figuring out whether it is useful from a software point of view. ” — Dr. Harry Buhrman

Join us as Chris Moore, VP of Solutions Architecture for Thrive lays out the key problems facing customers in the midst of this massive tech talent shortage. Thrive has tons of tools, but more importantly, the talent to manage just about any customer environment while modernizing and augmenting whatever technology they might run up against. Transcript of episode can be found below. Josh Lupresto (00:01): Welcome to the podcast that is designed to fuel your success in selling technology solutions. I'm your host, Josh Lupresto, SVP of Sales Engineering, Telarus, and this is Next Level BizTech. Hi everybody, welcome back. I'm your host, Josh Lupresto, and today we are joined by a good man, Chris Moore, VP of Solution Architecture for Thrive. Chris, thanks for jumping on with me, man. Chris Moore (00:28): Josh, thanks for having me. I'm looking forward to it. Josh Lupresto (00:31): So, title today we're talking about, you know, in this managed services world, but more importantly we're laying a claim. We're saying it's really hard and it's real, the talent shortage in technology, you know, in security in cloud, all of these things, right? So, so we're gonna get to that. I'm excited to kind of hear, obviously you guys have a lot of incredible solutions around that, and we'll get into that as we go. And we're gonna try to answer this. Now, more importantly, though, I wanna hear about your background. You know, if, look, if you've had a, you've had a great linear path and you knew exactly what you wanted to be your entire life, kudos to you. But if you took some weird, windy path and you, you know, you used to train goldfish or whatever, that's okay too. So, first of all, tell me about your background, Chris, let everybody know kind of how you got here. Chris Moore (01:18): Absolutely. Thanks Josh. So, as a kid my dad brought home this lovely IBM computer, and I turned on the monitor. I was like, What the heck is this? I'm looking at, And there was a five and a quarter inch floppy sitting next to it, and I plugged it in the 28 discs or whatever it was to get it Lotus 1, 2, 3 loaded up. Then the next evolution came. I was like, Oh, we can put this modem in it and I can get Prodigy loaded up and everything's good. And then as I progressed through my childhood I didn't honestly really play that much for the computers. I got sucked into working at restaurants and washing dishes and helping the bartenders and all that good stuff. And then I realized when I went to college, I wanted to go get my restaurant resort management degree. Chris Moore (02:07): So that's what I started off down that path. And then right around that time is right when the the CD writers came out where you could burn your own music onto, yeah, CDs. And they were all running by a parallel port, and you expect hundreds and thousands of dollars on CDs that never burnt correctly, and you threw 'em out. And it was right around that point in time where I decided actually, I want to go do something with computers for a career. So I went down and saw my counselor, said, Hey, I wanna change majors. And she looked at me and she goes, Well, if you wanna be here for three more years, and I had about 18 months left, right? So she goes, If you wanna be here for three more years, then you can change majors. And I looked at her and said, Nope, I'll get my degree, and then I'll go do what I want to do. So I did, and ironically, my first job out of college was working at a national restaurant chain on their help desk. Josh Lupresto (03:05): Ah. Chris Moore (03:06): So from there, I did help desk support. I went out to restaurants, pulled CAT5 cable, redid their POS systems, and kind of terminated everything you know, at two o'clock in the morning after the restaurant had closed, and then came back in the next morning and trained the...

There are particular indicators that something might be wrong in your Business Central / NAV system. Join Kim Congleton and me as we talk about setting and maintaining Permissions, preventing possible issues, and becoming more proactive. Essential points covered in this episode: ✔️ System administration is often one forgotten area, especially for companies with smaller I.T. teams. Kim shares that creating customer improvements requires assessing their system through a checklist related to the system admin. ✔️ Ask: Does everybody have the super admin permissions? There's a lot of risk to having somebody be a super admin or having everybody be super in the system. Kim adds that super permission can be pretty dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Learn to master controls and access, understand the permission hierarchy and adopt the best practices for setup and managing. ✔️ Look at the older versions as an indicator that there might be something wrong. Somewhere in the setup, people can't tell why something happened or why financials are changing. Posting dates and setups in accounting is a symptom of what's lacking. ✔️ Focus on symptoms of system administration issues. Making sure that your system runs optimally is something you want to pay attention to. People put it on the back burner and get their improvements and efficiencies on hold, which can result in bigger issues.  About Kim Congleton, Kerry Peters & New View Strategies:  Kim Congleton, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Owner of New View Strategies, is a thought leader and trusted business partner known for her contagious, “we can do this” leadership energy.

Description: This week's guest is the Identity Jedi, David Lee. David is an Enterprise Architect and thought leader with nearly 20 years of experience in Identity and Access Management, Business Development, and Solution Architecture. David and Richard discuss the biases identity management decision-makers have when it comes to diversity, the consequences that can come with fast-paced software delivery, the future of digital anonymity, and the importance of having difficult conversations around diversity inclusion. Key Takeaways: [1:38] David discusses his background in tech and incidental journey in Identity and Access Management. [4:32] Sending all business digital due to the pandemic has caused a new crop of problems. Including the many concerns relative to diversity inclusion as it relates to digital identity. [8:03] The biggest problem when it comes to digital identity is access. Decision-makers often don't consider the technological challenges others face because they have always had access. [13:15] There is an intersection of ethics and civic responsibility when it comes to identity. There is no discipline for software engineers when it comes to identity and privacy due to the pace at which they are expected to build, but this will likely change due to liabilities and regulation. [19:06] A potential side effect of the future of identity management could be a lack of anonymity. This exposes that gray area around allowing free speech while maintaining the right to privacy, and who should have access to authentication and verification. [23:28] The technology exists to be able to create accountability models as it pertains to identity and to reduce misinformation. The challenge is having uncomfortable conversations to address the issues surrounding diversity. [26:24] Right now, online anonymity is binary rather than the user having the ability to selectively decide. [29:23] Tech companies made decisions about identity without thinking about user choice.  Older generations are more apt to have concerns about this lack of privacy and anonymity. [32:48] The demand for faster comes with a set of consequences. The same issues we encounter around diversity in analog will present themselves digitally if we do not address them. Quotes: “For some reason, we get introduced to the identity componentry and it becomes like a bag of chips. We can't eat just one.” “For the vast majority of companies, nobody had a business continuity plan that said, ‘I'm going to send 100% of my people home.'” “There's a room full of middle-aged white men who are controlling the narrative for billions of people.” “Is it going to be built with access for everybody in mind?” “We talk about data privacy regulations, but we don't talk about protecting the user.” “Some anonymity provides protection.” “Challenge everything." Growing up in an aviation family, he soloed his first airplane before getting his driver's license. As a licensed private pilot, he was among the first group of pilots to receive a 333 exemption from the FAA to operate his sUAS commercially. As a partner at Flyover Services, he applied for and received the first approved Class B airspace authorization to fly in vicinity of KATL Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world's busiest airport. From the beginning Jake focused on ways to make the UAS flying experience more efficient. This led him to AirBase Network, focusing on addressing some of the key issues affecting UAS pilots in today's market.
