Experience Revival Podcast

Join us as we chat with Revive Ministries team member, Amanda Swick, about the power of prayer in revival, whether in our everyday lives or on a much larger scale. You'll hear inspiring stories of God working through the unlikeliest of people and be encouraged that God can work through your prayers, too. You'll be reminded of God's character and learn practical ways to revive your prayer life, or get started for the first time. Hosted by Summer Shore and Melissa Campbell, with special guest Amanda Swick. Music by Nathaniel Rodrigues A little about Amanda: Amanda Swick is a pastor's wife and a homeschooling mother to 4 handsome boys. She and her family live in Prineville, Oregon, and have been ministering with the Prineville Church of Christ for the past several years. Before that, they spent 10 years as college ministers at Oregon State University. During those years, as she dealt with the ups and downs of campus ministry, caring for a sick child, and the general chaos of life, Amanda found her passion for prayer. Through prayer, God sustained her and brought peace that was beyond understanding (Phil 4:7). Now she is on a mission to share the joys of prayer with others! Jennifer Pickrod: “I just did some research into our database and it looks like there is a record of some kind of a Christmas fair happening since at least 2004.” Cortes Currents: Do you get much of a turnout? Jennifer Pickrod: “We get an immense turnout actually because people seem to be really excited to come out and support their local vendors at this event. And so it's always nice also for them to come and see how the hall is all decorated in Christmas lights and twinkling and it just seems like a festive, wonderful event for the whole community to enjoy.” Cortes Currents: What does this represent for the vendors? Jennifer Pickrod: “This represents really an opportunity for the vendors to showcase what they've been working on through the whole year. Many of our vendors only participate in the holiday fair because they have been having a great success at this event, and they see it as an opportunity to focus on something, a project throughout the year, wherein they will work on their crafts and have an opportunity to really showcase them at this very popular event.” Cortes Currents: Tell me about your vendors. We all have a need to be seen, known, and loved. But it's not always easy, as women, to feel that way in our broken world. Difficult circumstances and painful experiences can even leave us questioning how God feels about us. But when we look in the Bible, we see that God has seen, known, and loved His daughters, since the beginning of creation. In today's episode, we'll share some examples of women in the Bible and how God went out of His way to love, honor, and restore their equal value to men, in a culture that treated them like second-class citizens. We live in a world where we are addicted to hurry and busyness. This results in a culture that leads to burnout, weariness, and being constantly exhausted…even after a vacation! We could all use the rhythms of rest and sabbath to help us create the space to hear from the Lord and bask in His presence. There is a beauty to rest that helps us find balance in our busy world. In this episode, we'll talk with one of our Revive Conference breakout speakers, Mary Adele Wilcox, to discover the antidote to weariness and busyness and how we can draw near to God through the spiritual rhythms of rest and sabbath. About Mary Adele Wilcox: Mary-Adele grew up as a pastor's kid in Corvallis and Sherwood. Following in her mother's footsteps, Mary-Adele became a teacher and currently works as a 2nd-grade teacher in the school district that she attended as a child. She has served at Northwest Christian Church in worship ministry and children's ministry for several years. Mary-Adele currently lives in Newberg with her husband, Kieric, and their spunky, troublesome little corgi, Archibald, and is expecting her first child in July. So exciting!! For a lot of us, reading the Bible can often feel like one more thing in a long list of things that we are “supposed to do as good Christians”. But spending time in God's Word can be so much more than an item on a checklist. Because on every page, God's unchanging and loving character is revealed. Through God's Word, we can begin to see and experience His radical love for us as we learn His heart and see it in action.  In this episode, we'll discuss how studying the Bible can give us a deeper understanding of what God is like, and help us to connect with Him personally, by looking at the life of Jesus.  We'll give you some good places to start reading the Bible, as well as some practical Bible study resources, whether you're diving into God's Word for the first time, or trying to find your Bible study groove again. From beginning to end, the Bible is the story of God's loving pursuit of His people. It is our prayer that by the end of this episode, you'll be inspired to curl up with your Bible, and journey deeper into your relationship with the God who loves you. In today's episode, we'll talk about what life led by the Holy Spirit looks like (and what it doesn't) and how to stay connected to God as our source of life.  If you've ever felt like being a Christian was a list of do's and don'ts, this episode is for you. The Spirit-led life is one of joy and freedom. We can't wait to share it with you.  Hosted by Summer Shore and Melissa Campbell. Losing her husband unexpectedly at 45 tested her faith, but also set in motion the desire to help others see that God is worthy of praise, even in times of grief. Her late husband's zest for life inspired Patricia to live her own, fully aware of God's presence, power and purpose — and to encourage others to do the same. It is her desire that others experiencing great loss will know they can survive any season of suffering. And not only survive but go on to become better and stronger as they press on to know God and discover His will for their lives.

It can be a struggle to know who we are and where we are going, let alone who God is. But when our identity is grounded in Christ, it changes everything!  Hosted by Summer Shore and Melissa Campbell. The world can be very slow at adopting wellness practices, even when it demonstrably leads to improvement in mental and physical wellbeing. While some spaces are beginning to value the effectiveness of practices like Reiki, there's still a long way to go before these resources become widely available to the ones who need it most.  This is why it's so important to show up everyday and be available to the people reaching out for help, so they can begin their journey towards healing.  In this episode of The Wellness Entrepreneur Podcast, I speak with Melissa Campbell, a Reiki Master who teaches energy healing to women, and we discuss the internal resources that every person is conditioned to suppress since childhood, and how Reiki helps amplify this support system! Listen in as we explore: - How access to this reserve of internal support changes behaviour and attitude - The experience of suddenly having more resources for your mental wellbeing - Focusing internally and away from external validation and approval - Why it's important to show up as the person who's done the work, so people can reach out to you for support - How people are seeking out practitioners they like across the world, instead of settling for the nearest in-person teacher - How the resilience people have shown in the last eighteen months will serve them for a lifetime Learning to trust our intuition and feelings opens up a world of internal emotional support that we've conditioned ourselves to ignore due to social cynicism. But it's crucial to tap into this massive emotional resource, so we can begin the journey of healing ourselves. In this episode, Melissa Campbell, Managing Director of McGimpsey Brothers (Removals) Ltd, discusses how she got started in the removals industry, by purchasing the family business at the tender age of 26! We discover Melissa never really had any involvement within the business beforehand, as she studied accountancy at university before joining KPMG in the audit department, where she studied for her charted accountancy exams at the same time! Then in 2018 her career took a U-turn and she ‘stumbled' across the removals industry. We discuss that Melissa, daughter of Campbell McGimpsey, knew that McGimpsey's were planning for succession as her father and Uncles were looking to retire in the coming years, and during her fiancé's (Steven) birthday dinner they decided together that they would make an offer to buy the company, which she made initially by text that evening! We discover that McGimpsey's was formed in 1983, started by Brothers Peter and Campbell, selling fish and vegetables from a van, where one evening they were asked if they could move a chest of drawers for a regular customer, which they did, and soon discovered they could make more money moving furniture than selling fish and vegetables. Fellow Brothers Stephen and Paul joined the company a few years later. We discuss how Melissa has found life in what is considered a male dominated industry and find that she has not faced any real issues, with the majority being very respectful towards her. We discover that Melissa thought her biggest issues when taking over the company were both her age and not having a removals background. But she soon discovered she had many transferrable skills, and being a Millennial, she had a good grounding in the use of technology in today's society. We discuss Brexit, and Melissa highlights that January was a challenge, with 5 to 6 vehicles on average moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland on a weekly basis, which now all require import declarations for every single one of those movements. Melissa also highlights that their European work has suffered a massive change, where pre-Brexit they would have gone through the GB land bridge, but post-Brexit is now an import and export into Great Britain and an import and export back out again, so she is constantly looking for new ways, including going direct from Northern Ireland to Europe. We discover that every day brings a new challenge, however, Melissa's biggest challenges to date, have been Covid and Brexit. We discuss that Melissa's high point of being in the industry is opening opportunities within McGimpsey's, providing more career prospects for moving up the ladder. We discover that even after a short period of time within the industry that Melissa would like a form of regulation to exist, which would help to make the industry more professional and in turn introduces better health and safety aspects. We discuss that Melissa is the current Secretary for the BAR Northern Ireland Area and that she felt it important to put herself forward for such a role not only to continue the networks created by her predecessors, but also to drive attendance at meetings as she believes the BAR is such a great support network. We discover that over the next five years Melissa hopes that McGimpsey's have grown and introduced more technology and processes into the company – this year they have outgrown their storage facility at their Head Quarters in Bangor, taking on an additional 35,000 sqft warehouse. Industry wide Melissa believes the industry will still grow and the use of technology will expand. We discuss that outside of the industry Melissa rarely switches off from the industry, however, during lockdown she took up baking which she enjoys, during times when there are no bars or restaurants open. And as always we end Moving Matters with a funny moving story regarding Paul McGimpsey assisting a client in finding their chequebook to pay for their move. Enjoy! They live in Prineville, Oregon and have been ministering with the Prineville Church of Christ for the past two years. Before that they spent 10 years as college ministers at Oregon State University. During those years, as she dealt with the ups and downs of campus ministry, caring for a sick child, and the general chaos of life, Amanda found her passion for prayer. Through prayer, God sustained her and brought peace that was beyond understanding (Phil 4:7). Now she is on a mission to share the joys of prayer with others. “Take your strengths and ask yourself, ‘How can I play to these in my business?’” Brooke Elder (10:01-10:05; 10:41-10:44) Your strengths are those characteristics about you that make you great. When you know your strengths and develop your business around what makes you great, you will be amazed at the impact you will have. Melissa Campbell is our in-house strengths professional. She helps all our clients find their strengths and know how to make them the heart of their business. “When we find out the talents that are truly authentic and work on those, it makes everything about us feel more genuine and more authentic.”  -Melissa Campbell (1:51-2:05) We often don’t recognize our strengths because they come so easily and automatically to us. Or, we don’t recognize them as good characteristics because others have reacted to them because they are “different.” Some of us struggle with talent envy. We see the desirable traits of others and try to emulate them. Often, we end up working on our weaknesses rather than focusing on our strengths. How to Discover Your Strengths Professional assessments can be so valuable in helping us assess our strengths and refocus our energy towards the areas of our lives that are waiting to flourish. There are two different strengths-finding tests we strongly recommend. The CliftonStrengths Assessment This assessment finds the way you naturally think, feel, and act and gives you your top areas of talent. When you work on those areas of talent they can become strengths. With knowledge, skill, and practice, you can take those areas of talent and build them into something that is amazing. To take the test, you can buy the book StrengthsFinder 2.0 on Amazon for $15 which includes a coupon code to redeem for the test on their website. Or, you can go directly to their website to take the test for $20. The VA Institute Character Strengths Survey This survey is a simple self-assessment that helps you understand your core characteristics. Melissa prefers StrengthFinder because of how in-depth it goes. But if you want something free, the VA Institute Survey is the next best thing. “When you work at something you’re already good at, you’re going to be more successful. Rather than taking your weakness up to a point where it would be somebody else’s talent, focus on your strength and the sky will be the limit to how much you can improve and the impact you will have.”  -Melissa Campbell (4:24-4:41) Once you know your strengths, you’ll also realize what you’re not good at. Instead of trying to be good at those things you’re not, find people to join your team who have those strengths. Intentional delegation is key to creating synergy within your team. Your aim in your business this week is to have each person on your team take the strengths test and then discuss it together.  Knowing the strengths of each person will bring unity to your team. It removes animosity and helps you understand each other better. Discuss with your team how you can use your individualized strengths to work together. A strong team is one that focuses on the strengths of each other. It’s time to stop focusing on your weaknesses and let your strengths push you forward towards the impact YOU were meant to make in this world! Nowadays we have a lot of pressure from the world around us to do all the things and do them perfectly; to be everything to everyone. The problem with trying to live up to this image or expectation is that we can end up feeling a sense of failure, that we are not enough, empty, exhausted, unlovely, and ever-striving but never arriving. What if we got off the hamster wheel of chasing our self-worth and identity from our jobs, roles and the approval of others? What if we first found confidence from knowing who we were made to be and owning that. What if we found our security from knowing that what defines us is who God says we are?
