Back to Black is a quintessentially three star movie. Had it come out on Amazon Prime or Netflix, it would have been an above average biopic about a musician but theatrically it falls flat. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/beware-of-spoilers/support

Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes April Wright, Writer, Director (Movie: BACK TO THE DRIVE-IN, Doc) to the Show! (Click to go there) ● WEB: www.goingattractions.com ● FB: @goingattractions ● IG: @goingattractions ● X: @driveindoc In April Wright's fascinating documentary BACK TO THE DRIVE-IN, we go behind the scenes to visit eleven unique family-owned drive-ins across the country to experience their passion and determination to keep their theaters alive. It's a story of human resilience. When the pandemic hit, drive-ins were suddenly the only safe venue in town, with press coverage about how drive-ins are “back,” and how they are thriving. But this documentary goes behind the headlines to learn the truth, spending a whole night with 11 very different drive-ins in 8 states all over the country, from preparations before the customers arrive, to selling tickets, opening the snack bar, and getting the movie on screen, we discover these family-owned businesses are actually struggling to survive. This doc is about authentic drive-ins and the passionate people who run them, but more broadly it highlights questions about the future of the theatrical experience, and the challenges of many small businesses wondering whether they will survive and make it to the other side of the pandemic. The movie will be screened during Polish Film Festival in Sydney on Saturday, 28 May at 7 pm in Ritz Cinemas. - Prequel kinowego hitu „Moje córki krowy”, czyli pełen humoru powrót do uroków PRL-owskiej rzeczywistości! Z doborową obsadą i w reżyserii Kingi Dębskiej. W sobotę 28 maja o godzinie 19.00 Ritz Cinemas, film "Zupa nic' będzie pokazywany w ramach Polskiego Festiwalu Filmowego w Sydney.
So many Independent movies have pretentions to insight and poignancy. Most are rubbish. But the zany 1980s comedy, Back to School, starring Rodney Dangerfield no less, provides perceptions most "deep" movies miss.
In this week's special 88th episode, we conclude our journey through time with our review of "Back to the Future, Part III," the final installment of one of the best trilogies ever. Check out episodes #058 & #065 for our reviews of Parts I & II. - Which co-host can't stop talking about "Buckaroo Bonzai"? - How many total pages of breakdown, trivia, and notes, does Todd have about this movie -- and, is it too many? - How smooth or clumsy was Todd's barely-relevant "Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist" reference during the rundown? - Just how prolific was the acting career of Dub Taylor, one of the old-timers in the saloon? - How many times does Andruw remind us that Part 2 is his favorite of the BttF trilogy? - Which co-hosts site continuity throughout the trilogy & character development as major strengths of Part 3? - What did Dave's daughters think of BttFp3? (Sadly, it was past their bedtime during recording, so we only learn second-hand.) - Which co-host sites a rushed romance as a nitpick? - Do you, the listener, agree with Joanna's analysis of 2nd installments vs. 3rd installments in movie trilogies? - How is Beaufort pronounced differently in North Carolina & South Carolina, and why would you care? (And, if I weren't pointing it out here, would you notice Todd left out the "e" when spelling it and had to edit it in later?) - How coherent were the lightning rounds this week? - Which co-host had a long-winded Muppet reference when explaining his score of BttFp3...and why? - And, why exactly did Doc load the Delorean's removed rubber tires into the wooden frame mounted between the train and the Delorean? Listen now for the answers to these and other time-bending questions as we achieve 88...not miles per hour...but 88 episodes of this podcast. This week, we review the classic middle installment of an almost-certainly-never-to-be-rebooted trilogy, "Back to the Future, Part II." We discuss the movie's story structure, tone, pacing, character focus, and the excellent cliffhanger ending. How much (or how little) does the movie's depiction of 2015 hold up to the 2015 we now know in our real world past? Do the special effects depicting flying cars hold up to today's standards? Is the alternate 1985 created by Biff fun, funny, unpleasant, or just plain hard to get through? Is it a necessary evil to drive the story and heighten the stakes? We cover these questions and more on this week's episode. Grab your hoverboard, sports almanac, fedora, shades, leather jacket, and walkie talkies, as we take a historic journey to 2015, alt-1985, and 1955 (again) with "Back to the Future, Part II." The MiB franchise for the most part has been a fun watch with the animated series doing the heavy lifting in terms of fleshing out the lore. In comes MiB International which has a very back to basic approach in that it uses the plot framework of the first film with a different set of circumstances and for the most part it works. Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth have such a good chemistry with each other that it helps the film out big time. Plus the film ultimately knows its a fun ride and thats basically what it ends up being. 3BG rating: 8 out of 10 Like us on Facebook/Join our Facebook Group/Follow us on Twitter
