Former Justice Minister Abubakar Malami Begs Nigerians For Justicehttps://osazuwaakonedo.news/former-justice-minister-abubakar-malami-begs-nigerians-for-justice/#Issues #Buhari #Dasuki #Dss #EFCC #Kanu #Malami #Sowore January 24th, 2026 January 24, 2026 11:53 pm Abubakar Malami, a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation who was in office from November 2015 till May 2023 when the then President Muhammadu Buhari completed his eight years tenure in office, under which, Courts of competent jurisdiction granted several detained Nigerians bail but the Buhari government refused to release them and even rearrested some of them after they had perfected their bail conditions, the then Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami who was saddled with the responsibility of protecting citizens' rights, came out openly and apparently justified the violations of court orders by the then Buhari led government, and during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Abubakar Malami, frequently defended the actions of the government's refusal to obey courts orders of bail granted to high profile individuals by asserting that national security and public interest superseded individual rights, some of the high profile individuals included Colonel Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser in the era of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who was held for four years from December 2015 to December 2019, despite being granted bail by at least four different Nigerian high courts and the ECOWAS Court, he was repeatedly re-arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS immediately after fulfilling bail conditions, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah, detained from December 2015 until they were released in July 2021 were refused bail after Federal court declared their detention illegal in 2016 and ordered their release by January 2017, but the government under which Abubakar Malami was a Justice Minister did not comply, until they were eventually acquitted of all charges by a Kaduna State High Court in 2021, also, Omoyele Sowore, an activist and a Journalist who is the founder of SaharaReporters news media remained in DSS custody for several months in 2019 despite fulfilling bail conditions set by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, he was re-arrested within the courtroom just 24 hours after a temporary release,Nnamdi Kanu, the convicted and jailed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB Leader was refused bail during his initial trial in 2015, President Buhari then publicly stated during a media chat that Kanu among others would not be allowed to go on bail due to the nature of their alleged crimes, despite court rulings, in addition, was Navy Captain Dada Labinjo who was detained by the Nigeria Military from September 2018 until at least late 2019, despite a Federal High Court order for his release and during these periods, Abubakar Malami provided several justifications for these detentions, most notably during his 2019 ministerial screening: Malami stated that the office of the AGF is meant to protect the public interest, and "where the individual interest conflicts with the public interest, the interest of 180 million Nigerians must naturally prevail", he cited the Supreme Court case of Asari Dokubo versus Federal Republic of Nigeria, arguing, it established that national security could supersede personal liberty in specific contexts and when Dasuki and Sowore were finally released in December 2019, Malami claimed the government did so on "compassionate grounds" and in compliance with court orders, while denying that international pressure from the United States, US influenced the decision, currently, the then apparent defender and justifier of government disobedient to court orders, is now calling on Nigerians and begging them to help him get justice since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC kept him in custody against court order that he had said earlier granted him bail and after perfecting his bail conditions, he was rearrested by the DSS and since he has remained in detention. #OsazuwaAkonedoBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/osazuwaakonedo--4980924/support.Kindly support us for more productivity and efficiency in news delivery.Visit our donation page: DonateYou can also use our Mobile app for more news in different formats: CLICK TO DOWNDLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY STORE

Endlich mal Hurtigruten, von Hamburg bis zum Nordkap. Eine Tour durchs Baltikum, mit Kanu, Rad und zu Fuß. Eine Radwanderreise an der Loire, Königsschlösser, Fluss und wunderschöne Radwege. Eine Genuss- und Weinreise in Katalonien. Nächstes Jahr – zur goldenen Hochzeit – soll es die letzte große Flugreise sein – trotz Flugscham. Namibia und Südafrika. Auch, um dem Trubel zu entfliehen, den solch ein großes Ereignis mit sich bringt. Nur uns Beide zu feiern. Also: Wir reisen gerne und viel. Wir gönnen uns das und wissen doch, dass wir Privilegierte sind. Rentner, die nicht jeden Pfennig umdrehen müssen und zu der Generation gehören, die es sich noch leisten kann, weil sie noch gut aufgestellt sind. Natürlich fragen wir uns, wie es unseren Kindern und Enkeln einmal gehen wird, wenn sie so alt sind wie wir. Apropos alte Leute: die sind reichlich vertreten. Scharen sich um die riesigen Wohnmobile, die Pick-up-Trucks, die immer gigantischer werden. Was fällt sonst noch auf? Der Trend geht weg von Klassikern wie Spanien und Italien, Griechenland und den Kanaren. Gefragt sind zum Beispiel das Baltikum und der Balkan. Neues entdecken nach zig Jahren Gardasee und Adria. Ein weiterer Trend: Studienreisen Treckingtouren und Kultur. Erschreckend. Die Stände der USA – gähnend leer. Da will keiner hin, weil einer eine ausgrenzende Politik macht. Und ja: Länder, in denen Autokraten herrschen und es Diktatur gibt, mag ich nicht bereisen. Die Türkei gehört dazu, natürlich die USA oder auch Israel. Nach einer aufregenden letzten Folge mit Radsport-Legende Jan Ullrich zieht diese Woche die Golf-Mentalität in den Podcast ein und es wird ruhiger auf dem Rasen des gesprochen Wortes. Zusammen mit meinem Kollegen Paul Burba spreche ich über Rudern, Klettern, Kanu-Slalom und Gewichtheben. Eine bunte Mischung, ähnlich der Schlägerarten eine Golfbags, aus dem Repertoire der Olympischen Sportarten erwartet euch. Nur so schlagfertig wie es Rory McIlroy auf der Runde war sind Paul und ich noch nicht, denn es war früh am morgen. Eher eine Bogey-Folge, aber eine alte Golfer-Weißheit besagt: Nach jedem Bogey kommt irgendwann auch mal wieder ein Birdie.

„Klingeling!“ Was tönt denn da? Fragen sich Ingo und Maike, als sie die mächtige Burg Stargard erblicken – hierhin hat es die Podcaster diesmal verschlagen. Da kündigt sich schon Burgbaumeister Henricus in persona an, mit scheppernder Fußschelle und grüner Robe! „Nanu?“, staunt Ingo. „Sind wir auf Zeitreise?" Und ob! Die hießen im Mittelalter nur eines: Hier ist jemand auf Männerfang. Schon bekommt sie den Hof gemacht … und findet sich flugs im „Locus Secretus“ wieder. Geheimort? Eher fürstlicher Donnerbalken! Jetzt hilft nur noch ein Schlückchen süffiger Phoenix vom burgeigenen Weinberg. Remember When is a show that brings together football fans from across the UK to talk about the seismic moments that shaped their club's history - and had a massive impact on their own lives too. Rather than being about tribal division or comparing between the haves versus the have-nots, it's about the stories, the memories and the moments that unite us as football fans - whoever we support. This time, Remember When looks back at two of the most memorable FA Cup triumphs in English football history. Wimbledon and Portsmouth have suffered more than their fair share of hardship over the years, with trophy cabinets smaller than plenty of their Football League counterparts. But both clubs and their fans share an increasingly rare privilege: they won the FA Cup against the odds. Broadcaster Rick Edwards is joined by two guests who were right at the heart of the action. Marc Jones fell in love with Wimbledon after an inadvertent trip to Plough Lane in the 1980s and followed their ragtag bunch of cult heroes to the 1988 FA Cup final, where the Crazy Gang ended the day on that hallowed top Wembley step after beating a brilliant Liverpool team. Jeff Harris made a similar pilgrimage twenty years later, when his beloved Portsmouth scratched and clawed their way to the final of the 2008 FA Cup. He'd recently returned from working overseas for the British Army and watched Kanu and company complete their own journey to greatness at the new Wembley. Marc and Jeff share their hilarious and often heartfelt memories of seeing their local clubs reach footballing immortality. From that snowballing belief as their clubs marched through the rounds at the expense of numerous top-flight counterparts, to organising double-decker buses and flights back from military bases to make sure they joined friends and family at Wembley. They also remember the aftermath, as Jeff bolted back down to Portsmouth and joined in celebrations across the city while Marc caught sight of Wimbledon manager Bobby Gould bringing the trophy back to Plough Lane at the front of the team coach. They also touch on how these victories marked important moments in their own young lives, with football acting as the catalyst for moments of joy, melancholy and belonging. Remember When is a celebration of what football's all about: moments etched into history for the fans and players of two clubs who might never experience it again.
