Grandpa Mather flew F6F Hellcats during World War 2, and later married Dottie Rehnland of Michigan, and had 3 kids, one of whom was my father. He became a Christian at the big Methodist Church in Colorado Springs in 1956 at Dawson Trotman's funeral when Billy Graham gave the eulogy. In 1962, Grandpa founded Mr. Steak, Inc., which eventually had 286 restaurants in the United States and in Canada. Grandpa Mather calls his grandson, TRP Producer and Host Lucas J. Mather, on 7 May 2020 during the lockdowns to encourage the boy. Grandpa Mather is today 101 years old and resides in Ventura County, California. He attends Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Newberry Park with his wife of 29 years, Linda Lopez Mather, daughter of longtime restaurant owner Sal Lopez, owner of Sal's Mexican Inn at 1450 Oxnard Blvd for many decades in Oxnard, California. The Republican Professor is produced and hosted by Dr. Lucas J. Mather, Ph.D., also a US Navy veteran.
It's fair to say that the robots aren't coming, they're already here. Not a week goes by that we don't see a brand new article about some new self-driving car, another A.I company bursting onto the scene, or full on i-Robot style machines marching down an aisle. It's hard not to be unnerved by the impact robotics and machine learning can have on the workforce, and there's a lot of unknown factors we're going to have to deal with in the not-too-far-off future. That's where today's guest Dan Mantz hopes to make things a little easier for us. He's spent the last 30 years working in the field of robots; for private sector companies such as GM, FANUC America, or Electronic Data Systems, and educational institutes like WPI, Kettering University, and the Forbes Nonprofit Council. Dan now serves as the CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation, or the REC. The REC's mission is to provide every educator with workforce readiness programs to increase student engagement in STEM programs. They hold hundreds of events every year that host over 1 Million students from over 70 countries, leveraging the power of competition and play to educate their students. We caught up with Dan to chat about how we can leverage our schools, private industries, and government to better educate people about robotics, and also how to build a more harmonious relationship between people and robots in the workplace. And finally, Dan shared with us how competition and play is one of the most effective ways to teach, even something as seemingly complicated as robotics. Whether you're a middle manager or CEO, this is definitely an episode you're not going to want to miss, so with that…let's bring it in!

This episode of the Leaders in Payments podcast introduces listeners to Bob Kaufman, the visionary founder of ConnexPay. His narrative not only shed light on the inception and growth of his company but also on the broader trends shaping the future of B2B payments. ConnexPay stands out in the payment industry as a disruptor, successfully handling both incoming and outgoing payments. It's a feat that sets them apart in a market where competitors often focus on just one aspect of the transaction. The discussion delved into the enduring prevalence of credit card use in the travel and e-commerce sectors, highlighting the advantages they offer, such as security and dispute rights. Bob contrasts this with the challenges presented by alternatives like PayPal and blockchain, noting the importance of simplicity and legal dispute mechanisms for consumer confidence. Furthermore, the episode emphasized the influence of Generation Z, whose expectations for digital-first, frictionless experiences are driving innovation in the payment space.
Gerald Brooks, Chairman of the Board for The African Heritage Association, stopped by to speak with Nancy to talk about the St. Louis African Arts Festival. The first St. Louis African Arts Festival was held in 1991 as an outgrowth of the 34th Annual African Studies Conference hosted by Washington University. A year prior to the conference, a group of academic, business, and community leaders came together to explore ways in which a forum could be established that would bring the diverse community of St. Louis together for the purpose of learning and celebrating the rich and diverse cultures of African and African American people. The mission of the festival is to increase the awareness of the global contributions of African people and people of African descent have made through art, cultural, and educational programs. The St. Louis African Arts Festival is held in beautiful Forest Park. Each year the festival attracts a diverse audience of thousands of local residents and out-of-town visitors during the Memorial Day weekend. The Festival draws the community together in celebration of the rich contributions of Africa and the African Diaspora (diaspora–people settled far from their ancestral homelands). This year's festival happens May 25, 26, and 27 in Forest Park.

SynopsisBy the time of his death in 1998, pop singer Frank Sinatra was such a domineering figure in his field that he was known as “The Chairman of the Board.” By the time of his death in 1992, the same nickname might have applied to the American composer William Schuman, who was, at various times, director of publications for G. Schirmer, president of the Juilliard School, president of Lincoln Center, and on the board of many other important American musical institutions. William Schuman even looked the part of a distinguished, well-dressed CEO. Oddly enough, he came rather late to classical music.Schuman was born on today's date in 1910, and, as a teenager in New York City, was more interested in baseball than music, even though his dance band was the rage of Washington High School. It was with some reluctance that 19-year old Billy Schuman was dragged to a New York Philharmonic concert conducted by Arturo Toscanini. The program included a symphony by someone named Robert Schumann, and Billy was pretty impressed. A few years later, in 1933, when he heard the First Symphony of the contemporary American composer Roy Harris, Schuman was hooked, and soon was writing concert music himself. By 1941, when his Third Symphony premiered, Schuman was recognized as a major talent, and in 1943 he was awarded the first Pulitzer Prize for Music.Music Played in Today's ProgramWilliam Schuman (1910-1992) Symphony No. 3 New York Philharmonic; Leonard Bernstein, conductor. In episode #246, we discussed the resignation of Dr. Steve Pettit, president of Bob Jones University in South Carolina.Pettit took office in 2014, a year after a GRACE report that revealed how the college's leadership had mishandled numerous cases of abuse that occurred both on and off campus.Survivors claimed that in cases that took place at the school, proper authorities were not notified, and in many cases, victims in counseling at BJU were blamed for bringing the abuse on themselves. Many people hoped that Pettit's appointment would bring about much-needed change. However, on March 31, 2023, almost nine years after taking office, Pettit resigned from BJU.Just a few days before his resignation, he wrote a five-page letter that revealed several concerning issues about Dr. John Lewis, Chairman BJU's board of trustees.Pettit accused Lewis of holding off-site secret meetings without informing key university leadership, adopting a posture of secrecy and hostility toward the board and the administration. He also claimed that Lewis interfered with the reporting of a sexual harassment case to the school's designated Title IX coordinator, among other things. Pettit threatened to resign if Lewis remained in office. In a surprising turn of events, on April 6, Dr. John Lewis tendered his resignation as well.Dr. Steve Pettit (whose official final day at BJU is May 5th) issued a statement regarding Lewis' resignation, saying,“Late this afternoon, I was notified that Bob Jones University Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. John Lewis has resigned from the Board of Trustees effective immediately. He has served BJU for 32 years as a board member and seven years as chairman. His desire was to honor the mission and vision of BJU and he worked tirelessly to that end. During his tenure, the University secured regional accreditation through SACSCOC and regained our tax exemption. I wish Dr. Lewis God's best.”The reason for Lewis' resignation has not immediately been given – it's also unclear whether Lewis' resignation will affect Pettit's decision to resign.Regardless, it's clear that change is coming to Bob Jones University.________________Support the Preacher Boys Podcast:https://www.patreon.com/preacherboysPurchase a Preacher Boys shirt, mask, sticker, or other merch to rep the show! https://www.teepublic.com/user/preacher-boys-podcast________________Find more stories regarding the IFB movement by visiting:– preacherboysdoc.com– https://www.facebook.com/preacherboysdoc/– https://twitter.com/preacherboysdoc-– https://www.instagram.com/preacherboysdoc/To connect with a community that shares the Preacher Boys Podcast's mission to expose abuse in the IFB, join the OFFICIAL Preacher Boys Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1403898676438188Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/preacher-boys-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
