Welcome back to another episode where we discuss everything about dividend growth investing with a European flavour. In today's show, we have the Canadian Dividend Investor as a guest who achieved a year ago what many of us are aiming for: early retirement by living off the dividend income. Hence, this was a very engaging show, because he was the first guest that actually did early retire, so we had a lot of curiosity on how that all went. Having said that, if you want to connect with him, then feel free to reach out to him on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CDInewsletter or via his website: https://canadiandividendinvesting.com/ Books he recommended: The four pillars of investing One up on Wall Street Beating the Street We hope you enjoyed this show and we're wishing you a lovely week ahead. The meteorologist predicts the weather, but the rainmaker makes the weather. The difference is everything.
There is a massive hole when it comes to retirement planning. Don't believe me? Try the following experiment...
Waiting, hoping, wanting, and wishing is not a winning strategy in retirement. Here's why...
Having a plan b in our working years is necessary. But in retirement? It's a disaster.
Looking for inspiration or role models? Look no further.
Are you ready to take your life to the next level? Here's why it's time to be a loser.
When was the last time you were uncomfortable? If it's been awhile or you can't remember, here's why that's a problem.
The only time you should say these three words is if you're skydiving and your chute isn't prepared.
Sometimes we can forget our strength. It's time for a reminder!
Being part of a board is not for everyone, but for the right person, it can be just what you need to add meaning and purpose to retirement.
These three words have had an incredible impact on my life...
When you hit your breaking point and realize it's just not working, embrace your reality, take control, and use these setbacks to fuel positive change. You have the power to create the life you deserve.
The phrase "one day" is powerful and can either fuel your dreams or hold you back from achieving them. Which will you choose?
Will climbing a mountain solve all of your problems in retirement? Here's why it just might.
When you think about your goals and dreams, do you think "one day"? If so, you may find that "one day" is always out of sight. Now compare that mindset of "one day" to "day one." Day one is right now. Tomorrow is nothing and today is everything. What will you start today?
If this is what success looks like, we'd all better enjoy the journey.
How many times have you started a new hobby and then experienced the dreaded dip? You know, that lull we all go through where the thrill of rapid progress fades into that period where you struggle to make any progress. When it feels like we're not making progress, it's helpful to know that the dip is just part of the process.
Sometimes when I'm lifting weights or on the Peloton, I find myself wishing it would be over. I have to do this class. I have to do these sets. I have to... And then, I reframe how I think. I don't have to do. I get to. How amazing is that?! It's a gift.
The reason change can happen with just a thought is because it can change how you think about yourself – your identity.
I've been here, and I'm sure you've been here too. My hope is this lights a fire within you to do, experience, and become all you can while you are still healthy and able.
If you are waiting for the "right time" or to "be ready" to step outside of your comfort zone, go on adventures, meet new people, or upgrade your health, I want to encourage you to think differently. You have less time than you think.
Reminisce less about the past and daydream more about the future.
Your whole life you've needed permission, but in retirement, there is no gatekeeper, application, or waiting. What will you do with this freedom?
This might get awkward. We need to talk about the news...
Life would be so much better if we could instantly have everything we wanted, right?
If Average Retirement is Kenny G, then Badass Retirement is Led Zeppelin!
Why is it we must age gracefully? What I hear is slow down and accept your limitations, but you don't have to comply with this narrative. Why not live boldly?
I'm considering a new idea: Retirement Advisory Board. Just like how start-ups benefit from advisors, imagine a small group of retirees inspiring and guiding each other. As part of the Badass Retirement Community, I'm planning to form small advisory groups. Join me or start your own!
