Being adaptable isn't just a nice-to-have—it's essential for any entrepreneur who wants to see their business thrive for years to come. Flexibility in business helps you to navigate unexpected challenges, seize new opportunities, and pivot when necessary. My interview with Bakari Akil reminded me of just how important it is to build your business with that flexibility at the core, so that you can effectively address any changes in the market without having to reinvent your operations every single time. About Bakari AkilBakari Akil is an experienced entrepreneur and investor with a strong background in acquisitions and business development. As the Managing Director of Graves Hall Capital, Bakari has successfully led the acquisition of several companies, demonstrating a keen eye for identifying valuable opportunities. His approach to entrepreneurship is rooted in flexibility and adaptability, allowing him to navigate complex deals and build a diverse portfolio of businesses.Other than his work in acquisitions, Bakari loves sharing his knowledge and experiences in digital nomadism. He has traveled extensively while managing his ventures, proving that with the right strategy, business can be conducted from anywhere in the world. Key Insights:Diversify your investments. I've always believed in spreading your business interests across different industries. This way, if one area faces challenges, others can keep your overall business stable.teDelegate to experts. Hire experienced professionals to handle daily operations. This frees you up to focus on strategic decisions and big-picture growth instead of wasting your time on small tasks. Prioritize recurring revenue. Look for businesses with steady, recurring revenue. This ensures a reliable cash flow and helps your business stay resilient.Do your homework. Always visit and verify business operations in person before making any big decisions. This ensures you're getting exactly what you expect.Avoid depending on key individuals. Structure your business so that its success isn't tied to one person. This makes transitions smoother and reduces risk of making your operations stuck because someone isn't there. Bakari's best advice for entrepreneurs:"As an investor, it's important to be on location to see the business and evaluate it. [...] You really need to come there and make sure that the operations actually exist, that somebody's not selling you a business that actually is not there."Connect with Bakari Akil:LinkedInInstagramYouTubeFollow Beyond 8 Figures:LinkedInXWebsite

Happily Married, #1 Bestselling Author, Global Entrepreneur and founder of the Marriage of Greatness movement. “Many men can make a fortune, very few can build a family.” It's all about taking ACTION! Quote#1 So when you got a V H S camcorder, that's our little tool to film shorts and there's no video editing like nowadays, right? You can do it on your phone. You got all, I mean, just the whole, you and I understand what it used to take to create content.   Quote#2 There's gotta be a way to do this. And so I stood up and said, I'm gonna make a documentary and the next day in the shower, and here's a lesson for the people in the shower. If you ever notice, uh, most people get great ideas in the shower. Yes, probably cuz their phone's not in there with them. Yeah. Uh, hint And most people sadly leave their great ideas in the shower.   Quote#3 And so God gave me the vision, words of art. So I'm like, okay, let's look at words as an art form. And so that's where I started and I made an intention, got up off the couch and wouldn't you know, James, the next weekend I'm at an event. And it's one of these personal growth events. They got, you know, big names on the stage and then they have the sponsor, you know, ally, right, where everyone's got their booths.   Prehab instead of Rehab!   Body Dysmorphia, and how Evan recognizes it and deals with it.   Course correcting is how our journey in life goes.   “My bride and I both come from normal dysfunctional families, raise your hand if you can relate” : )   When we first got married our starry eyed quest was to live happily ever after and bring each others dreams to life. The challenge was, we had no money, like an old cell phone battery we were always in the red. My bride had a low paying high stress job and I had a struggling business.   We drove junky cars and lived in a postage stamp sized rental house. On top of that, I had major sexual baggage from a dark past that I'm still unpacking today. In-spite of all this we decided to have faith and dream big, we set a goal to get remarried in a different state or country every year.   With lot's of prayer, action and creativity, we have been married over 20 times and yes we have had more than 20 honeymoons! Our story has been featured in media outlets around the world, but this is just the beginning of our story…   More Cool Evan Money Quotes: “The grass is always greener where you water it” “Ok, so if you want to make a personal growth documentary, here is the guy” “Why is this taking so long, that's what every film maker says about every film project”   www.evanmoney.com   marriageofgreatness.com   IGWT4me.com   Featured song for this episode is “Ride On”, check it out on Spotify here https://open.spotify.com/track/5VQzjlHv7qZzyZIOSGkhjU?si=eb0d5a683f2e43d8 Coaching link is here, join me for a no-obligation discovery session www.calendly.com/dharmic For a custom-branded song you can reach James at james@thejamesoconnoragency.com

Lay of The Land's conversation today is with Aaron George, Founder/CEO of SupplyNow! Growing up with a family of small businesses & food service owners, Aaron first came to the US in 2015 with a deep sense of respect for entrepreneurship and the food service industry from a very young age. At that time, he came to study Civil Engineering and Business Management from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) — during his time at CWRU, he founded PastryNow which was a digital, late-night delivery platform that connected local bakeries & home bakers to college studentsIn early 2020 though, when college campuses shut down overnight, Aaron had to close down the business and go back to the drawing board. He had noticed restaurants were amongst the hardest hit during the pandemic and was determined to find ways to help. After interviewing several restauranters and chefs, he found that there were inadequate solutions available to actually help restaurants control their purchasing costs, especially in the context of having to navigate frequent critical supply chain failures. In 2021, Aaron founded SupplyNow, leveraging his experience from PastryNow, to provide critical supply chain solutions that can save restaurants and local distributors, time and money. The company's flagship service — Crisis Management — helps restaurants when their vendor has shorted them (potentially due to unexpected waste/demand, inventory miscalculations, etc) and are too short-staffed to send for a restaurant's emergency supplies. At the same time, the company has built out the supply-side of its network to service distributors who find it too expensive to offer same-day/on-demand deliveries to their customers, due to CDL driver constraints and preset weekly routes that are hard to deviate out of.Through our conversation, we also cover Aaron's journey as an immigrant founder, the many additional challenges he's had to navigate as a consequence of this, and the work of Global Entrepreneur in Residence program he is spearheading. The content of this episode may have some variations of what you've heard before, but Mylett stands out with his strict time management and earnest scheduling practices. Lamenting long meetings and describing how he almost never schedules more than 22 minutes for one, or how he splits his days into "days" approaching certain hours entirely different than the others. It's really cerebral stuff, and incredibly fascinating to hear him explain. He says it himself, he's proven his methods time and time again with some of the most successful people on the planet.
