Minnesota Vikings 2024 Season Preview and Free Agency Wishlist With Ted Glover — In this episode of 'Skoldiers & Spice,' host Sal Spice is joined by special guests Ted Glover and Dave to dive deep into the Minnesota Vikings' 2024 season. They kick things off by discussing the Super Bowl lineup and making lighthearted comparisons about their rooting interests. The conversation quickly shifts to a comprehensive review of the Vikings' season, including the roller coaster of emotions and standout performances. Special attention is given to the future of quarterback Sam Darnold, with both guests expressing skepticism about his return to the team. They turn their focus to the Vikings' pressing need to fortify their offensive line, debating the merits of various free agent targets such as Trey Smith and Kevin Zeitler. The trio also examines potential draft strategies, emphasizing the importance of landing quarterback J.J. McCarthy, whom they believe is the team's future savior. In addition, they navigate the complex web of free agency, expressing hopes of retaining key players like Cam Bynum while acknowledging the likely departure of veterans like Harrison Smith. Free agency wishlist items like WR3 candidates, including intriguing but unlikely reunions with Stefon Diggs and Cooper Kupp, add spice to the episode. Concerns about the kicker position and its impact on the team's overall success are also addressed. Throughout the discussion, Sal, Ted, and Dave keep optimism high, looking forward to what they believe will be a transformative 2025 season for the Vikings. The episode wraps up with Ted sharing information about his show, Vikings Report with Drew, Ted, and Chris, and expressing collective hope for the Vikings' future success. 2OB looks at the Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears, in what friend of the show, Ted Glover, calls the “Dead Man Walking Bowl”. In all likelihood, both head coaches, Mike Zimmer and Matt Nagy will be fired within 24 hours of the final whistle. There is the possibility that both have already been notified too. There are also expected changes coming at the general manager level of both squads as well. Those factors, along with players who will not be on the team next season, make a game that only determines draft position, interesting. Bears QB Justin Fields is out on Covid IR so Andy Dalton will start against the Vikes. Zimmer has said Kirk Cousins will start along with all the other starters healthy enough too. They are treating this as a regular game and trying to win. Should they? This is a game full of business decisions from the owners to the players. To play hard or not, to win or not? In the same way, as with a Shakespearean tragedy, fans will see and talk about the tragic flaw(s), the tragic hero(s), antagonist(s), and the catastrophe.  Two Old Bloggers are comprised of Dave and Darren, who both started blogging on the Purple decades ago will go over a way to possibly see how this game will go and if the Vikings can win, so get ready for the Climbing The Pocket and Daily Norseman pregame show! Here are the themes for the show: Breaking news: Jason La Canfora of CBS is reporting that Mike Zimmer will be released and Rick Spielman moved out of the GM position. We'll go over the usual stats to start - the strengths and weaknesses of each team. Theme #1 - Vikings vets will play but should they? Theme #2 - Will Kellen Mond play? Theme #3 - Who will play their last game as a Viking?  Join us for your Minnesota Vikings talk amongst Two Old Bloggers and join the conversation! Fan with us!!!  Good morning Horners! It is time to increase that laugh level. Can you image when the “retired” Mr. Ted Glover texts you wanting to record a show? You drop everything and do just that. Ted, who we all miss from his Zim Tsu’s, Rick Speaks and Stock Mart Reports on Daily Norseman wants to talk Vikings football, so we give him the platform. Here he joins back with Drew and Dave for a preseason Good Morning Gjallarhorn In The Raw episode.  What mystifies Ted [and the rest of us] is the offensive line. Why when Mike Zimmer specifically called it out after the 2019 season does it seem not to quantifiably get better? Sure there has been some musical chairs as who who plays where. It has been addressed in the draft but with Pat Elflein not turning out to be anywhere near hopes and Ezra Cleveland drafted as a left tackle being listed as a backup left guard, things just don’t seem right. It is a mystery when everything else seems good. The Vikings have a decent quarterback in Kirk Cousins, plenty of weapons from Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, Kyle Rudolph, Irv Smith Jr and even rookie Justin Jefferson so there are reasons to look forward with anticipation except for the aguish over the O-line. Will it be unfounded? What do you think?  Enjoy the rest of the conversation and all the laughs. It is always a blast when Ted talks. After 17.5 hours of live broadcast for the draft, we sit down and review the Minnesota Vikings 2020 draft picks. From our first rounders of Justin Jefferson and Jeff Gladney all the way to our last seventh rounder and talking about the first quarterback taken since Teddy Bridgewater, Nate Stanley from Iowa.  We go through the entire list, in round one there are expected starters Justin Jefferson at wide receiver and Jeff Gladney at cornerback. Round two we open up with Ezra Cleveland who may or may not start. Dave explains why he should from the get-go at left tackle. There were tons of gems and hopefully diamonds in the rough found in the later rounds too. Our question to you is, who were your favorites? Who do you think is going to start in 2020? Who do you think will contribute in 2020? In these crazy times, have the Vikings improved, and will be reflected on the field  Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator. In a matchup of two of the top teams in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks face off against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. The Vikings are 3-3 on the road this season and are 2-3 coming off the bye week under head coach Mike Zimmer. Ted Glover of the Daily Norsemen joins the show to talk about the key to stopping a Vikings offense that has seen a lot of success this year, especially since their Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. Two things that have helped the Vikings offense improve since Seattle saw them last season. First, Dalvin Cook has been tremendous in the run game and catching passes out of the backfield. Secondly, Kirk Cousins has done very well to limit turnovers. With the Vikings allowing just 18.6 points per game, good for sixth in the NFL, the game could come down to how well Russell Wilson will be able to perform inside the red zone against Minnesota's defense.   Vikings vs Cowboys… Good morning Horners! Your Minnesota Vikings crave to Arlington Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys in prime time, under the lights, on turf and in a climate control stadium [Jerry’s World].Here at the Daily Norseman, the Climbing The Pocket Network morning show, Good Morning Gjallarhorn with Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and David Stefano present your game preview show.  We start the show addressing the the mental makeup of the Vikes. We all hear about winning on the road, winning against good teams, winning in prime time, and how all of them have been challenging to this team, and especially to Kirk Cousins. Here is a chance to bust those stereotypes. Can the purple do it? The road the playoffs gets a lot tougher if they don’t. Keys to game will include how many yards that Ezekiel Elliott can be limited to vs how many total Dalvin Cook can produce per Drew. That requires the Vikings defense to get turnovers and winning the turnover balance. Pressure on Dak Prescott and against the rush will be a necessity. The defensive backfield including Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes [if he plays at all due to injury] will have to be on their game because Dak has already thrown 8 interceptions this season. If they are not, expect to see Mike Hughes and Holton Hill put in early to replace them.  Drew has his latest trivia challenge, Vikings vs Cowboys edition, where we take a trip down history’s lane. Starting with the push off, because why not, and ending with the Vikings winning the last 2 games. This is fun and laughs abound on this one. How well do you do answering the questions?    We hope you have a great Sunday full of good friends, better food, awesome beverages and a Vikings win. There was plenty to take away from this game and hopefully moving forward.  Flip from Fifteen Minutes with Flipmazzi brings his every present positivity butts heads with Yinka Ayinde of Climbing The Pocket, Ted Glover brings an even sense of humor and sanity, and Dave from Good Morning Gjallarhorn talks about sailed 2 yard passes. None of us want to see that and Ted explains why we won’t, even if Adam Thielen is resting and not playing.  On this short week, the team with the best talent usually wins and that means the Vikings. Drew goes over the numbers to back this up too. The narrative is that the Vikes should win easily but will good or bad Kirk show up? It’s a prime time game and he will be amped. He has a history of streaky play, so will this start a marked decline? Even with a win, the detractors will say it isn’t against a good team. Not to worry, the next two against the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys with on the road will be that test. Does this season feel different to you?  Drew brings his Vikings vs Redskins trivia. There is a lot of golden information and memories from the 1976 Conference Championship to the 2017 game in FedEx Field where the same two quarterbacks battled previously. Then stay for the Ted Glover story at the end. You’ll like that deal!     We hope you have a great evening, enjoy good friends, good food and good beverages, and as always, GO VIKINGS!    Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator.   Vikings vs Eagles… Good morning Horners! What a game! Way to start your victory week with the sound win over the Philadelphia Eagles. 38-10 was the final score where the Vikings jumped out aggressively early and even though the Eagles fought back, the Vikes snatched all the momentum back with a stiff 82 yard drive and score. That’s what we love to see as fans and at Good Morning Gjallarhorn.   Kirk Cousins was on FIRE! 22 of 29 for 333 yards and 4 TDs. He had one interception that was not his fault, but is playing like we hoped he would. Is he possessed by aliens? The truth is out there, but we don’t care. Just keep this up, and as Ted Glover says, “we have a really good football team.” Stefon Diggs had a day too, by catching 3 of those touchdowns and amassing 167 yards. Against the Eagles’ interior 7 led by Fletcher Cox that was #1 against the run, Alexander Mattison, Dalvin Cook and even Stefon Diggs amassed 122 yards. The passing and run games were for the second week complimentary of each other and Stefanski called a good game. How refreshing is that?   The Vikings defense had its moments too, holding Carson Wentz and crew to just 20 points. Eric Kendricks seemed to be everywhere and is continuing his outstanding season. Danielle Hunter now owns the NFL record for most sacks before turning 25, and even though Wentz was slippery, he was pressured all day. If all this keeps up, we as fans have a lot to look forward to. Next, the Vikes take on the Detroit Lions in Ford Field and keep the victory Mondays going.   We hope you’re ready for a great week and as always, GO VIKINGS!   Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator.   Vikings versus the Raiders… Good morning Horners! GMG is back with another “In The Raw!” immediate post-game reaction show. Dave is done with all his moves and ready to talk football with Ted and Drew after that wonderful and expected victory at US Bank Stadium yesterday. Your Minnesota Vikings played a very efficient game soundly defeating the Oakland Raiders 34-14 to now go 2-1.   Sackles, sackles, sackles,… We love us some sackles. Sackles for the uninitiated is the when a Vikings player gets a sack [and Dave has been consuming adult beverages]. The team amassed 4 yesterday with Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter each getting one, along with Eric Wilson [in for and injured Anthony Barr] amassing 2. There were plenty of more pressures on Derek Carr which is the goal on this Sunday, but the sackles are the cherry on top, and we love cherries.    Does Dalvin Cook look absolutely remarkable or what?! Cooker has to be one of the best, if not the best running backs in the league. Coach Rick Dennison has coordinated on heck of a running game and Cook is the main beneficiary, but he isn’t the only one as we have seen with Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone [in garbage time] reaping the benefits of gaudy yards per carry numbers. We should all find out next week in Chicago versus the Bears defense if this is for real. We all sure hope so. The O-line has been good at run blocking and making it happen, but next Sunday should be their toughest test yet.   The defense started out on fire! The dragon may of not due to the No Fun League’s moratorium on pyrotechnics, but the D sure did. We love seeing an opening 3 and out. Harrison Smith got yet another interception and turnovers like that definitely give the team an advantage.   Passing was efficient with Kirk Cousins making most of the throws he should have this week. It was great to see Irv Smith Jr get big chunk yard receptions. Even Kyle Rudolph got involved. The WR3, Chad Beebe, who affectionately is called “Faberge Egg” by Ted Glover was almost non existent and went out with an injury. Hmm… I wonder if Ted nailed his nickname? Overall, the passing was good. That Cousins to Adam Thielen pass was perfect for the score. One question though, should we as fans be concerned about the lack of throws to Stefon Diggs? You tell us.   Enjoy your victory week! SKOL!   Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator. Then shout SKOL!    As always, enjoy the watch and listen!  BREAKING NEWS!!! Good morning Horners! We have the Vikings versus Seahawks game reaction and recap on this episode of “GMG In The Raw.” You can watch and listen to how Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and Dave Stefano react immediately following the game. Dave even took copious notes blowing Drew's mind away in the process. Kirk Cousins was showing some mobility, a good thing. We like that! We wanted to see a better running game, better run defense and see fewer wide receivers being open against that defense. These things were still there and we wondered could it be because the Minnesota Vikings were running their base, or bland defense, stuck in a simple zone scheme, could it be because Linval Joseph and Shamar Stephen weren’t playing, or just that it's the preseason and head coach Mike Zimmer doesn't want to show anything? Drew noted that when the second team defense comes in, they show more fire and that the level of excitement goes up in the stadium. “Their energy jumps.” Ifeadi Odenigbo did an outstanding job all night. Cameron Smith blitzed but whiffed on the sack. The scariest point of the evening came on the offense when Alexander Mattison had his leg bent in a very awkward position. All of us thought with Vikings fan dread, that he was going to be injured on that play, but he got back up and continue to play just fine. We've noted how he seems to get stronger as the game goes on. Oh, and what a night Boone had! We felt he secured the RB3 spot with that performance, and Zimmer liked his special teams play even more. Kyle Sloter had a very good game. We discussed why he should relieve Kirk Cousins as the QB2 in this week's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Both Dave and Drew were adamant that he earned that look, but Ted wasn't as convinced. He still thinks that Sean Mannion did nothing to lose his QB2 status. Yes, he threw the pick 6, but he drove down the field and scored on the next series. We are all to use to the team laying down after something as adverse as of miss-ran route that results in a pick and causing a huge swing in the scoring. After seeing the game Dave doesn’t think Sloter’s status has to do with the games. It has to do with practices and what support he brings to the rest of the QBs in the support role. He may be too inexperienced to see and help, at least in Zimmer’s mind. You'll have to listen to catch the rest of the GMG impressions on players like Kaare Vedvik, Dan Bailey, Matt Wile, Brandon Zylstra, and Dru Samia. Lastly, the guys think Dave should die his beard purple for week one. Should he? Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator. Good morning Horners! We have a special Good Morning Gjallarhorn "short" for you. Our very own beloved Ted Glover following the victory of his hometown St. Louis Blues started to discuss with Drew Bunting how the Stanley Cup was the toughest trophy in all of pro sports [team sports] to win. I disagreed and said the Lombardi is. The debate was on… A good chunk of us being raised in the frozen north, know both sports well. Football and hockey players were always admired for their toughness. In professional sports there are athletes across all spectrums, but football and hockey were the impact/collision team sports. Ted and Drew took the side of hockey being the toughest, the long season, the multiple games in the playoffs, the hits, etc. I felt however, due to recovery times, size, and the different nature of football, including a smaller playoff field, it was. The Blues won their first trophy in their history, and we know where the Minnesota Vikings sit in their goal to achieve one. The 2019 season might be that year where first time winners take the championship, and that bodes well for our beloved Vikings. Which do you think is the hardest trophy to win? Like and subscribe! Good morning Horners! As the rollout continues of the Climbing The Pocket Network joining the Daily Norseman, DN readers have enjoyed Good Morning Gjallarhorn for almost a year now. You have Ted Glover, myself, and Drew Bunting that started the show and shared here. Ted has been a front-page writer since 2009, and I have been doing fan posts and some front page writing on and off since 2008, but you never really got to know Mr. Drew Bunting. This episode, we have Drew On Drew just for you. Drew is an avid Vikings fan and been one all his life, but had to suffer much of it out on the West Coast, with a good chunk of that prior to the Internet and Sunday Ticket. Like many Minnesota Vikings fans, he looks to find Vikings news and memorabilia wherever he can find it. Now, in the modern information age, it is easy. So much so, that he is joined in at the beginning of the Good Morning Gjallarhorn conception. He said, “Dave, why don’t we do a podcast, but better,” and GMG was born. Drew tells us about the two types of shows the GMG does regularly. His favorite is our immediate post-game live show, that we call "In The Raw.” Then there is our second show which includes more analysis, production and a look forward to the weekends game that usually launches on Saturday mornings. It is the GMG pregame show to start your weekend. On occasion will also do some GMG short takes just for the fun of it. Drew grew up loving two things, music and football. He tells stories of imagining himself as Bud Grant when he was but a kid, of learning to play the bass guitar. He started with jazz and then fell in love with rock 'n' roll. This love of music or the game translated also to liking players that obviously play for the love of the game. He views Adam Thielen as one of those. Can you name some Vikings that you think fall under that category? Looking towards the 2019 season, he's hoping everybody stays healthy, not only on the field but off. Drew loves to talk football and he can get awfully funny, so enjoy the show. Like and subscribe! Then shout SKOL!  As always, enjoy the listen! Learn more about your ad choices. Good morning Horners! The old crew is back in the saddle again and in this episode, we talk about team bonding and fractures in the locker room. Starting out with a look at the Green Bay Packers, and how it seems that there may be dysfunction already, or at least the potential there for quite a bit. Ted Glover and Drew Bunting break down what they see for them this season. Dave compares Aaron Rodgers to Joe Flacco over the last two seasons and how this will definitely affect how the division shakes out in the Minnesota Vikings can win it. As Gary Kubiak's role for the Vikings comes into more clarity, and enthusiastic discussion broke out of whether he will be a sounding board head coach Mike Zimmer or more of a quasi-offensive coordinator taking that job from Kevin Stefanski. The guys at GMG are curious as to what you think about this new dynamic? We look at the offensive line, which we all agree should be an improvement over last year, but wonder if it will be enough. Seeing a poll on Twitter where Vikings fans were asked what is more important, a good offensive line, the scheme, or a set of very good wide receivers, there was a definite push in the direction of what fans haven't seen in a long while. We are curious, which of those three do you think is most important to future Viking success? Ted hypothesizes that there was a fracture in the locker room last year, and Drew laments the loss of leaders in the locker room like Everson Griffen, Brian Robison, and Terrance Newman. There is definitely a value for veteran leadership when it comes to the chemistry among the players. What a difference we saw between the 2017 season and the 2018 one. Wrapping up with that team binding theme, Ted tells a story of how it was either Mike Lynn or Roger Headrick that back in the day took the team for some team bonding experiences to include ziplining down a canyon. Can you imagine Jerry Burns yelling, "to the zip line!"? How many F-bombs were sure to follow? “Weeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!” – into the 2019 season we go! Learn more about your ad choices. The Draft Recap Show – Good Morning Gjallarhorn Style

Good morning Horners! Your beloved Minnesota Vikings have completed the 2019 draft with 12 overall selections and plenty of transactions to get there. Ted, Drew, and myself bring you the recap and the only way grizzled old fans can. Be prepared for some fascinating and absolutely humorous analysis as we dive into some of your favorite picks. Not since 1965, has four offensive players been selected with the first four picks by the Vikings. Those household names included Jack Snow [WR], Archie Sutton [T], Lance Rentzel [WR], and Jim Whalen [TE]. This year soon to be household names started out with Garrett Bradbury [C], Irv Smith [TE], Alexander Mattison [RB], and Dru Samia [G]. 1965 was a very long time ago, and to our senior fans that remember that far back, I salute you. For the rest of us, join in the enjoyment of learning about this year's selections. Obviously, Gary Kubiak had a huge influence over the Vikings direction during this draft. Known for his offensive mind and scheme, we can see the direct effect. He may be the first person to ever convince Mike Zimmer not to pick any defenders early. That demonstrates one heck of a relationship, either good or bad, that we’ll look forward to seeing in 2019. Not to give all credit to Kubiak, because we know Kevin Stefanski and Rick Dennison were also involved as well as Rick Spielman and his scouting department, and of course how the board fell. Players discussed in this episode include Mattison, Bradbury, Samia, Smith, and the lower round selections of Cameron Smith [LB], Khris Boyd [CB], brief mentions of Dillon Mitchell, Olabisi Johnson, Oli Udoh, and then Ted Glover's favorite selection, Austin Cutting. All these fine young gentlemen were part of the 12 player haul, the largest for the Vikings since the league went to a 7 round format in 1993. Everyone that watched the live draft show, I want to give a big shout out. You all rock! It was our most watched show to date. We have two questions for you. Good morning Horners! The guys are back and ready to start the 2019 league year. After a couple months of stewing in the disappointment that was the 2018 season, Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and Dave Stefano return to discuss the state of the Minnesota Vikings. They look at the timeline that ran up to selecting John DeFilippo and Kirk Cousins. The flaws in the decision making of selecting an offensive coordinator that was going to implement a style of offense not conducive to neither the quarterback not the group of offensive linemen that had to block for him, and ask why? The Vikes have since hired the “Denver Mafia” lead by Gary Kubiak and including Rick Dennison. The whole group of new coaches will reportedly be focusing on implementing a more traditional West Coast Offense style of play that is said to be better suited to Kirk Cousins skills and a zone blocking scheme that should help in his protection and in the run game. Mike Zimmer in effect gets to get his guy who can mentor the Kevin Stefanski in the offensive coordinator role and ensure the offense is more productive while he can focus on the defense and the necessary future players needed to fill holes of departing free agents, cuts and trades. The team will see quite a few new faces due to having to clear money to gain cap space. OTC reports the Vikings are sitting $5,340,897 available and that isn’t even enough to sign the rookie class. There is still need money for veteran free agents and eventually the practice squad to cover for the up and coming season. This means so veterans of the squad last year will have to be let go one way or another. With the Vikings not tagging Anthony Barr in any way, just gives you one example of needs that will have to be addressed in some fashion. On signing free agents, the Vikings have already started with in-house guys fullback CJ Ham and punter Matt Wile, signing them to veteran minimum deals. With the offensive line being a factor of last season’s dismal results, the focus will be needed either through free agency, the draft, or both to shore it up. Last year’s rookie Brian O’Neill proved to be a bright spot, but he will have to be combined with 4 other guys in a more mobile system geared to take advantage of their skills. Mike Remmers looks to be a cap casualty, and a logical choice to free up some funds, but his right guard position will have to be filled. Pat Elflein should look forward to a full offseason of strengthening and his level of play improving to where fans thought it would be after his rookie season. The Riley Reiff will sit as the left tackle, for now, with the only questions being in the guard spots. That could change however depending on what is available to the Vikings in the draft and what shuffling of players coach Dennison decides to work best. The NFL Combine is complete, free agency nears, and the draft will follow shortly after that. The guys at GMG hope you join in the laughs, the debate, and the hopes that come with being Minnesota Vikings fans. Tell us what you are hoping to see in the next month as the beloved Purple makes another run at getting better. Like, subscribe, and ring that damn bell! Then shout SKOL! As always, enjoy the watch! Good morning Horners! The possibility of the Minnesota Vikings throwing a 50 burger against the Detroit Lions this Sunday may seem ridiculous, but that is exactly what Dave is calling for. The old men, Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and Dave Stefano discussed the possibility in this episode of GMG. Ted rejoins us after taking time out for a little champagne tasting to discuss the beautiful victory over the Miami Dolphins last week. The awesome defensive play there resulted in 9 sacks and shutting down the Fins after a giveaway touchdown and a fluky explosive run. Comments were made on the differences seen in playcalling by Kevin Stefanski versus John DeFilippo and how the offense was more productive than it had been in a while. There was still the angst over Kirk Cousins and his seemingly one or two bad plays a game that results in points for the other team. If the Vikings are getting hot this time of the season, not only on the defense but on the offense, if those mistakes are eliminated going into the playoffs, the possibilities can actually be super. Consistency in the maximizing of assets in playcalling will have any opponent not wanting to play the Vikings. The depth on the defense has shown it’s worth so far this season with outstanding play by not only Anthony Harris but with Mackensie Alexander really starting to step up his game, along with Holton Hill proving to be the best undrafted rookie free agent signing probably since Adam Thielen. Drew runs Dave and Ted through another round of Way or No Way. There are some interesting questions about the dynamic duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, Kyle Rudolph’s performance, and another that leads to that 50 burger prediction. From our lips to Odin’s ears let’s all hope it is so! How would you have answered those questions? Please post below. We are interested to hear what you think. Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 033 – In The Raw: Waiting On The Mistake   Good morning Horners! Here is your post game reaction show where coming out of the bye week, the Minnesota Vikings went into Soldier Field to battle the Chicago Bears. The problem with that, was that it really wasn't much of a battle. Our beloved Vikings were not favored to win, and as usual Vegas was correct. Join me, Drew Bunting, and Ted Glover as we discussed, or should it be disgust, the action of the evening.   This game put many Vikings fans expectations in doubt. Ted and Drew both discuss the frustration that comes from watching the purple underperform and make mistakes, and especially in critical situations in a way that just rips at one's fandom. The three of us are called the Grampa Division because of our age and the fact that we have followed this team for over five decades, or nearly that. I guess there is an honor to the what seems like futility of being a Minnesota fan. There are only a few fan bases, like the Buffalo Bills, or even the Detroit Lions in the NFL that no such pain. Not to offend anybody else, like Cleveland Brown fans, and there are probably a couple others, but with the team playing in its 58th season it can wear on you.   Mike Zimmer and his coaches had plenty of opportunity to plan for this game. The Vikings came off their bye week and basically had two full weeks to prepare for Mitch Trubisky and his scrambling abilities, along with Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks rushing skills. It wasn't until the second half however, that any adjustments appeared to be made to spy on the Bears quarterback and none made to slow down the rush. In looking at the game logs, it appears that tight end Kyle Rudolph only assisted Riley Reiff once on a chip block. A team in its fifth year under the same head coach, Mike Zimmer, even with a new offense of coordinator, shouldn't make these repeated poor strategic decisions. Especially, when you consider they had two weeks to prepare. That now makes a record of 2-3 for Mike Zimmer coming out of the bye. I do not recall Dennis Green or even Mike Tice having an issue playing after a bye week.   Kirk Cousins did not look sharp, in fact he was compared to Christian Ponder in his throws and some of his decisions. His throws were off target too many times, and then there was the inexplicable interceptions. He wasn't the only one on the offense that failed to live up to expectations either. Dalvin Cook had another game with a fumble and other than about one decent run, was bottled up most of the day. We attribute most of this to the offensive line play, but a good chunk goes to John DeFilippo’s poor game calling of plays. He joined the Vikings with all the hype of being a one-year wonder that would go on to be a head coach next year, but yet that type of offensive play calling and in game adjustments have yet to be consistently seen, and not just game to game, but from quarter to quarter. Questionable play calls, especially when trying to come from behind, instill no-confidence in a fan base that is thirsting for the success that was promoted and anticipated by the organization.   We talked about the moral victories, not that they're worth a W in the win column, but are still nice to hear. Anthony Harris had another very good game with two interceptions and overall good play. He very much looks to have won the starting spot opposite Harrison Smith even once Andrew Sendejo gets healthy. Stephen Weatherly had another good game as a rotational player and is continuing to show his improvement, especially when it was him that stretched out plays towards the sideline so they could be stopped. The other moral victory of the night came from the best wide receiver tandem in the league, where Stefon Diggs had over 100 yards receiving, and Adam Thielen became only the second player in Minnesota Vikings history, tying Randy Moss,  to getting to 1,000 yards the quickest in a season. Both Adam and the GOAT did it in 10 games.   Not to worry, this isn't a completely "woe is me" show. We do have our laughs, especially when I get a phone call in the middle of recording. I guarantee you'll watch and laugh at that point. We also ask you to give us your thoughts about the Vikings need to do for the rest the season.   Like, subscribe, and ring that damn bell! Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 029 – Gnome More Mistakes   Good morning Horners! It's Lions week, or when this comes out actually game day. Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and I get together and preview what should be a fun-fest held within US Bank Stadium as our Minnesota Vikings take on the Detroit Lions.   In this episode, we talk about getting things right, like getting selected to win a gnome. We talk about no more mistakes. The Vikings, due to their own play, which has included mistakes in various aspects of the game, be it by players or by coaches, absolutely have little to no room left to make any mistakes if they wish to make the playoffs. A good example of this was the time management issue during the New Orleans Saints game. Norse Code’s Arif Hasan, asked Coach Zimmer about this. This plays into some midseason grades that Drew asks Ted and me to give.   Looking ahead to the game, we talked about the impact of Detroit trading away one of their best receivers, in Golden Tate. He always used to be a thorn in the Vikings side just about every time they played the Lions. He is now gone leaving only Marvin Jones Jr and Kenny Golladay as the two only viable receivers for Matthew Stafford to throw to. Stafford has all the talent in the world but is inconsistent at times, just like our own Kirk Cousins can be, but has seemed to have pulled rabbits out of his hat when it comes to beating the Norsemen in their home stadium. Drew brings his normal bird’s eye view of the stats, and suggest that will be easily able to run against this team. It’s looking like Dalvin Cook is likely to return to play, and Latavius Murray is running well, so this could very well be the case. We are still looking forward to production from Adam Thiel and Stefon Diggs. Diggs however, has already been ruled out for the game with a rib injury he suffered while landing on the ball last week. Aldrick Robinson has stepped up and caught touchdowns just about every time he's been on the field, that will have to continue Sunday as he is expected to get more playing time.   Even though the Lions traded away Golden Tate, they traded and got the week before, Damon "Snacks" Harrison to sure up their defensive line and beef up their run defense. The Vikings interior three, are going to have their hands full with that big man. This is the point where the rubber hits the road and the team must respond under the pressure. Vikings fans will be looking forward or hoping for, a convincing win just like in the old days when Dick the Bruiser and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka were tearing it up in the ring.   On the show, you have heard Drew talk about his playing days not only in football but as a rock bassist. He was part of a band called Little King, and a fan sent in a YouTube of them where you can see Drew knocking it out of the park, just like we expect the Vikings to do on Sunday.   If you like loud, hard rock, hair band music, check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_hCzhpjBvw&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3RQQQhdJEIP7kquCuol9hpS_OHXKTHC3ngqWae-oNYyy79kIuzMd1Wd3Q         Like, subscribe, and ring that damn bell! He even stuck a fish hook through his cheek and put fireworks where they should never go. Don't get me started on what he's done with a stapler.Ever since he snatched a video camera from his father's closet at age 15, Steve-O has lived for attention. And the Jackass star learned early and often that public adulation escalated in lock step with the outrageousness of his behavior. The equation was simple: the further he pushed the envelope, the more America's favorite prankster felt loved and alive.Insanity ensues.Still, it wasn't enough. It would never be enough. An insatiable hunger for wholeness that could never be sated. A spiritual hole he almost died trying to fill — first through external validation, then through substances. As insanely dangerous as his stunts had become, it was drugs and alcohol that ultimately brought Steve to his knees. To the brink of death. To the psych ward. To sobriety. It was March of 2008. A moment that broke him. A moment that saved him.Let's back up.Steve-O knows how to play the idiot. But Stephen Glover is no moron.Growing up in five countries fluently speaking three languages, Steve has maintained household name status for almost two decades in an industry famous for it's flash in the pans and also rans. When the camera is off, he's far more grounded than you might imagine. Surprisingly self-aware, present, generous and contemplative are just a few descriptors that spring to mind. That's the Steve I'm interested in.So this week we go beyond Steve-O to meet Stephen Glover — the human being behind the clown, comedian, stunt man and provocateur. The best part? We're joined by Steve's dad. Not only was this Ted Glover's first podcast, I believe it's the first time Steve and Ted have ever been interviewed together (at least on audio). The result is glorious. This is a conversation about health, environmentalism and ethics. It's about the damage inflicted by addiction on loved ones. It's about recovery, forgiveness and spiritual evolution. Black Heart Gold Podcast

We close up Previewpalooza by talking Big 10 football with Graham Filler and Ted Glover from SB Nation's Big Ten blog, Off Tackle Empire. Find out why Michigan State's recent form is only a semi-fluke, why watching Penn State football is like dating a crazy chick, and nineteen other metaphors and analogies that Graham used over the course of the podcast. Podcasting with Graham is like reading the Book of Exodus. When our resident Michigan Man wasn't comparing things, Ted provided far better insight than we ever could.
