For eighteen years (1983-2001) a fixture of radio & television's Howard Stern Show, comedian Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling was born and raised in East Norwich, a tiny hamlet on the glorious North Shore of Long Island, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Oyster Bay High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1971. In March, 1979, he created a dirty joke line, “Use Your Finger! Dial (516) 922-WINE!,” which has been in uninterrupted operation since 1979 [516-922-9463].The jokes worked. Jackie released three self-produced comedy lp's, 1979's “What Did You Expect?,” 1980's “Goin' Ape!,” and 1981's “Normal People Are People You Don't Know That Well” on his own label, OHR Records. In 1982, after founding “Governor's Comedy Shop” in Levittown on Long Island and touring as a national headliner, on a suggestion from a Washington DC comedy club owner, he blindly sent his three LP's to Howard Stern upon Howard's arrival at WNBC-AM in New York City. Howard called him to make a guest appearance on his radio show. In 1986, Jackie became a full-time cast member and the head writer of Stern's show, and as they say, the rest is history. Remarkable radio as well as show business history.Jackie left the Stern show in 2001 after fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. He's released six dirty joke CD's … “The Joke Man,” “Sgt. Pecker,” “Hot Dogs & Donuts,” Come Again?!,” F. jackie,” and “snart,” as well as three videos, five joke books and countless joke gadgets of all kinds, for children as well as adults. In 2006 he released a CD of his original music entitled “Happy Endings,” that he co-produced with guitar legend Frank Vignola. From 2007-2014, Jackie wrote and performed his own radio show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, “Jackie's Joke Hunt,” and he wrote the joke page for Penthouse magazine for 17 years.Jackie is featured in the red-hot comedy documentary, “The Aristocrats,” over a dozen other independent films and has appeared on many television shows. He still works all around the country performing his solo act of rapid-fire filthy jokes and the classic finale, “Stump The Joke Man.” and guests on many of the top national radio shows and podcasts. For shows click on the link!https://www.jokeland.com

My family has switched to Spotify and I'm wondering why I can't find your Irish and Celtic Music Podcast on it...will it make it on there eventually? I don't have an Apple phone so I'm sad that my current podcast hookup (Google) is closing down. Thank you for all your hard work!” Ben Q emailed: “Hi Marc, Big fan & patron with an Android problem - Google Podcasts has gone away, annoyingly (just a few short years after they killed Google Listen and forced everyone to migrate there). I see that the "Listen on Google Podcasts" button on celticmusicpodcast.com now redirects to podcastaddict.com, so I guess that this sunsetting of that podcast app is probably not news to you. However, I've tentatively replaced Google Podcasts as my podcast app, not with podcastaddict, but with what Google / Android suggested as a replacement, YouTube Music. I imported all of my podcasts, and they are all working the same way as before the change, except for The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. Searching YouTube Music for "irish & celtic music podcast" on YouTube Music brings up these search results, of which one looks like the right one, this result. However, that podcast doesn't seem to have the correct shows - the most recent one is from 2023; I'm not able to listen to Red - Haired Bully Boys #657 or Plant Your Boots For Freedom #656 at that link. I'm sure you're busy, but just wondering if you had any insight into this. It's worth mentioning that, if I understand correctly, this app doesn't require people's podcasts to be hosted on YouTube - I'm listening to the Savage Lovecast, for example, just as I usually do, and I don't think Dan has moved his show archive over to YouTube; I'm just using YouTube Music to listen to his regular, free podcast XML feed like usual. Anyway, thanks for taking the time and for all the work that you're doing.” Daniel Morrison emailed: “Hi Marc, I am finally making my first trip to Ireland. My Grandparents of both sides are Ireland. Castle Bar Mayo, Tuam Galway for Dad's my Grandparents. Kenmare Kerry for Ma's my Grandparents Going on Package deal for 7 days. Your Podcast has inspired Me so much to make the trip.” Christine Manbeck emailed a photo responding to my St Patrick's Day question: “Guinness Chocolate cake; parade; Screaming Orphans concert”
This country has so much to offer- jungle caves, Mayan ruins, tropical islands! In this first episode about Belize, Laura takes you along to the Belize zoo, which makes a great stop on the road from Belize city to San Ignacio. Then, you'll hop on a little hand cranked ferry across the Mopan River to the Mayan ruins of Xuanantanich. You'll also hear about the ATM caves. Swim, wade and hike your way to the sacred Mayan ritual site, still containing sacrificial human remains.Song Credits:Track: "Firelight" provided by https://slip.streamMystical song by Dorfi and Come Again by HoliznaCC0 are licensed under a CC0 1.0 Universal License.Support the show

In the last devotional of this series on God's promises, today we're looking at the promise of his return. The suffering and pain we're experiencing right now is not for forever. There is a conclusion to this story, to all of our stories. And that conclusion is being written by a God so good, so loving, and so powerful, that we know this story of humanity ends triumphantly. So may God fill us with hope, peace, and passion today as we take time to focus on his return. Our Scripture for today comes from John 14:2-3. Today's worship is Come Again by Come Again | Elevation Worship & Maverick City. . -- A First15 reader, Kim, recently shared with us, “Thank you for this blessing. It is like a balm to my soul. You are bringing the love of Christ to me.” When you help reach the $216,584 Summer Initiative goal, you'll be a part of connecting more people like Kim with God. When you help reach the $216,584 Summer Initiative goal, you'll be a part of connecting more people like Kim with God. If you haven't given yet — or you're led to give again — please do so today.
As we near the end of our week on God's heart to meet with man, we look today at Pentecost. The day of Pentecost was a major fulfillment of God's desire to meet with us. On that day, his Holy Spirit flooded the earth and was poured out on ordinary people, just like you and me. We see God's desire to dwell with a people satisfied as his Spirit fills them and remains with them forever. May you be encouraged today as you look more deeply at God's overwhelming desire to be one with you in your day to day life. Our Scripture for today comes from Acts 2:1-4, and today's worship is Come Again by Elevation Worship & Maverick City. -- Thank you for listening to today's podcast. Tomorrow we're wrapping up our series on the marks of a true Christian by exploring how we can overcome evil with good. Make sure to subscribe so you won't miss this wrap up of our series. And if this series has been especially meaningful for you in some way, consider taking a moment to write about your experience in a review. Ratings and reviews are how people find this free space for God's presence, and your story could be just what someone needs to start spending meaningful time alone with their Creator. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.
What does it mean to say that Christ will Come Again in Glory? Al discusses. What killed the Catholic University? Professor James Keating joins us. We explore the Problem of Pain with Phil Yancey.

Nate Powell is a graphic novelist and musician. He is also the first cartoonist to win the National Book Award. Nate Powell has also won four Eisner Awards. His work includes Ozark horror tale Come Again, civil rights icon John Lewis' March trilogy and its follow-up Run, comics essay About Face, and graphic novels Two Dead, Any Empire, and Swallow Me Whole. Nate's new book is Save It For Later. He reflects on how America's culture of the 1980s with the rise of Reaganism, toys like GI Joe, the Punisher comic books, and other celebrations of militant nationalism and violence across American popular culture gave rise to the Trump's MAGAites and American neofascism these decades later. Nate explores questions of “selling out” and his relationship as a younger man to punk music and counter culture and what is lost (or perhaps gained) when subcultures become more mainstreamed and their audiences and artists age with them. Nate also shares what he learned about resistance, struggle, and justice along the color line from the process of working with the titan civil rights hope warrior Rep. John Lewis on the award-winning March graphic novels. And Chauncey and Nate dialogue about being men of a certain vintage, coming of age in the 1980s, and what it means to be creative for a living. Chauncey continues to share how you can be a hero in your own neighborhood by being attentive to all of the good people and life lessons around you while also be cautious of the evil that may be stalking you at the same time. Chauncey also shares how Donald Trump's MAGAite cultists are so deranged that they actually believe that Trump's pending indictments mean that he is a prophetic figure who is being punished like Jesus Christ. On this week's podcast, Chauncey answers some questions sent in by the listeners to the show. WHERE CAN YOU FIND ME? In the last devotional of this series on God's promises, today we're looking at the promise of his return. The suffering and pain we're experiencing right now is not for forever. There is a conclusion to this story, to all of our stories. And that conclusion is being written by a God so good, so loving, and so powerful, that we know this story of humanity ends triumphantly. So may God fill us with hope, peace, and passion today as we take time to focus on his return. Our Scripture for today comes from John 14:2-3, and today's worship is Come Again by Elevation Worship & Maverick City. -- Faith doesn't happen on its own. It's a byproduct of time spent experiencing the faithfulness of our God. It's a gift given to us by the Giver of good gifts, himself. It was a supernatural faith that allowed Paul to sing even while in chains. It was supernatural faith that allowed Peter to proclaim the gospel, even unto death. And it's supernatural faith that will carry you to and through the greatest gospel opportunities in front of you. We pray our printed devotionals, Faith and Trust, help people like you experience the life changing reality that faith and trust have on your everyday life. With Faith you'll: Discover a Biblical framework for living faithfully Study powerful moments of God's faithfulness in scripture Tear down personal strongholds in your life where you struggle with faith Develop a lifestyle of faith, that weathers the storms of life And every dollar you give today goes to help more people like you experience the nearness and love of our God. Everything changes when we learn to trust and become filled with faith in our good, good God. Get your copy at supportfirst15.org!
-- Faith doesn't happen on its own. It's a byproduct of time spent experiencing the faithfulness of our God. It's a gift given to us by the Giver of good gifts, himself.
