Better Than Ezra was formed in 1988 in Louisiana. Their first major label album, Deluxe, went Platinum. Throughout the years a dozen of their singles have landed on the charts. Multi-award winning program director, Ray White, caught up with co-founders Kevin Griffin and Tom Drummond backstage at their show to talk about their All Together Now album, the early days of the band and their approach in writing songs and putting together albums. Billboard tapped the band as one of the "100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time." They've released several singles recently from their forthcoming album and have a full tour schedule in 2024. In our showcase segment we feature the latest on Billboard Music Award multi-winners, The Goo Goo Dolls and Ambrosia members Burleigh Drummond and Mary Harris and their Tin Drum Family Band which just released Emerson Street. Gotta dig it as they're Sittin' In With The CAT!!

Thank you for being part of the conversation. This is Play It Forward. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward Episode 585 With Kevin Griffin From Better Than Ezra Better Than Ezra's highly-anticipated fall tour comes on the heels of headlining summer tour dates across the U.S., in addition to a slew of shows alongside Train. Their summer trek sees the four-piece band (Kevin Griffin - vocals, guitar, keyboards; Tom Drummond - bass guitar; Michael Jerome Moore - percussion; James "Jim" Arthur Payne Jr. - guitar, keyboards) gracing some of the nation's most cherished stages, kicking things off in Los Angeles at the famed El Rey Theatre on July 18, touching down at Denver's Bluebird Theater on August 1, before heading East and putting an exclamation point on their summer by wrapping things up at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Arena on August 19 alongside Train
"There is a dominant discourse that early education is preparation for something in the future, usually stated as kindergarten; that developmental psychology with its focus on ages and stages can be a framework for early education; that children need adults to fix them; that the natural caring of others, a strength of women, isn't important. These dominant discourses lead us away from closely examining the amazing events that happen in children's lives every day that show how brilliant and capable young children are." (Tom Drummond)
Franchi, Dr. Pin and Jeff Parsons are not only joined by a special guest co-host and special guest Tom Drummond, bassist of the band Better Than Ezra, who has started routing games in pubs in a pinball starved New Orleans. New give him the noob test and much more. Another fantastic episode for this runner-up plaque-winning pinball podcast.
WTOP Entertainment Reporter Jason Fraley chats with bass player Tom Drummond of the band Better than Ezra, which rocks The Anthem in Washington D.C. tomorrow night alongside Tonic and Collective Soul. They spoke when the band played Wolf Trap back in 2015 to break down their biggest hits from “Good” to “At the Stars.”
We all know Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra at one point was doing pretty "good." In this (quite possibly most hilarious) edition of GITM, we find out how the man, myth and legend is doing now. (Spoiler alert—pretty fabulous.) With a solo album recently behind his sails (Anywhere You Go), the Pilgrimage Festival co-founder, unparalleled skilled mimic (watch for an unmissable impromptu GITM theme song) and consummate “palaverer” shares his preferred hugging style, thoughts on everything from bubble-machines to electric bikes and unique insight into the power of positive thinking.

This week I dive into the future of AI and Robots with Professor Tom Drummond, Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering at Monash University, where he is also Chief Investigator and Monash Node Leader for the ARC Centre of Excellence in Robotic Vision. His research interests include High-Performance Computing, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision, with a particular emphasis on real-time systems for Augmented Reality, Robotics, and Assistive Technologies. This week's podcast is bought to you by our sponsors and preferred retailers Wordery and the book depository. The book who's theme we are reflecting on this week is The Culture Series by Ian M Banks which is centered on Artificial Intelligence (in the books they are called the ‘minds') where the robots control the universe and AI are accepted as citizens in the series with incredible authority and wisdom. My conversation with Tom Drummond is centered around the ethical dilemmas of AI and Robots governing the world, driving our cars and potentially participating in society alongside humans. Tom Drummond is a founding member and bassist for Better Than Ezra who burst onto the national scene in 1995 with the Number 1 modern rock track "Good". But what looked like overnight success was really 7 years of do-it-yourself ingenuity and hard work. 30 years and a dozen albums and eps later they’re still at it with the same fortitude. Rockonomics caught up with Tom when he called in from The Last Summer on Earth Tour with The Barenaked Ladies and KT Turnstall. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Kevin Griffin and Tom Drummond of Better Than Ezra talk ahead of their show at the Toledo Zoo
This Episode! Tom Drummond, one of platinum selling Better Than Ezra's founding members, talks their rise to fame, heartbreak, writing style, career highlights, and what's to come... including the release of their new single "Grateful." Then social media superstar JoJo Siwa tells you all about Nickelodeon's Slimefest in Chicago, June 8th and 9th. She also shares her favorite song she's recorded so far - her new release "High Top Shoes." She also shares what keeps her grounded. Next, it's mommy-blogger Janelle Hanchett. Her popular blog is Renegade Mothering & she's now releasing her memoir "I'M JUST HAPPY TO BE HERE: A Memoir of Renegade Mothering." It's her unapologetic, raw, darkly funny, and ultimately inspiring memoir, chronicling her journey from young motherhood to addiction and, eventually, a recovery she never thought possible. Her message for moms is to accept your own mommy style - no matter how you manage to do it. Finally, it's record setting bird expert Noah Strycker. He just released "Birds of the Photo Ark" published by National Geographic. He talks his world world record of observing 6,042 bird species in one year. World reknown Joel Sartore is the photographer of the book, while Noah authors the stories. Noah's passion for birds is contagious - definitely one for the bird lovers.

On today's episode of TNS Analysts, TNS founder Alex Williams is joined by co-host, Donnie Berkholz, analyst at RedMonk; Tom Drummond of Heavybit; Matthew Wong of CB Insights; and by Gil Penchina, co-founder of Fastly. The recent news that Docker and Fastly received $40 million funding each spurs Alex's curiosity about the evolving status of developer tools as investments. With the acceleration of open source proliferation of developer tools and a history of tepid ROI outcomes for venture-funding in this market, questions remain as to the worthiness of investment in these services. We're very excited to be featuring an exclusive RIPEcast this week from NuFunk/House producer Tom Drummond of Perth, Australia. Tom forever endeared himself to The Space Cowboys last year with a track he co-produced with Slynk called 'Cow Bwoy Break' (http://bit.ly/cow-bwoy-break). Since the release of that track, Tom and The Cowboys have become pen pals and at our request, Tom was kind enough to put together this funky and eclectic NuFunk/Hip Hop/Breakbeat/Drum 'n Bass mix for The RIPEcast. Enjoy Boys and Girls! A little more background on this week's guest... http://soundcloud.com/tom-drummond comes out of sunny Perth, Western Australia. Years spent playing to a variety of different crowds has given Drummond an insight into what works on the dance floor. He studied Jazz music at Western Australia’s Academy of Performing Arts, playing in various funk and hip-hop groups during his college years. And he has supported acts like The Bamboos, TZU and Katalyst, all of which have had a major influence on Drummond's style. As a producer, Drummond's tracks have been picked up for digital, vinyl and CD release by underground funky-house and breaks labels such as Good Groove, Bombstrikes and Cold Busted and have been played by the likes of Krafty Kuts, A Skillz and Featurecast. As a DJ, Drummond's live sets are rarely restricted to any one genre. Hip hop, funk, breaks, drum n bass, dubstep and house music are all thrown into the mix as long as those tracks fit the criteria: "funky, good-time, party beats that will put a smile on your face".
