    Emerson Hart co-founded Tonic in 1993 and is their lead vocalist and plays rhythm guitar.  The band has received two Grammy award nominations and has a Platinum album to their credit.  Tonic's latest release is a single titled "To Be Loved."  On the solo front, Emerson has released 3 solo albums.  His latest single is "I Look For You."  Reaching back in our archives, multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Emerson in May of 2015 before his solo performance in Myrtle Beach, SC to talk about the transition from the band to his solo work, differences between his music with Tonic and his solo work, his Beauty In Despair solo album, the latest with Tonic and much, much more.  In our showcase segment we feature Toad The Wet Sprocket's front man Glen Phillips whose latest release is There Is So Much Here.  We cover the newer "classic" artists on this epiosde of The CAT!

    Duane Betts, guitarist/singer/songwriter, heads up his band Duane Betts and Palmetto Motel and is a co-founder of The Allman-Betts Band.  He is the son of the late Allman Brothers Band's co-founder, Dickey Betts.  Throughout the years you'd find Duane in various bands including Dawes, Puddle of Mudd, Whitestarr, Jamtown and Dickey Betts & Great Southern.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Duane out on tour with Little Feat in October of 2024 who touched on his early career highlights, being the son of a legendary rock star and his recent albums - Wild and Precious Life and Bless Your Heart.  In our showcase segment we feature the frontman from "that little ole band from Texas," ZZ Top's Billy F.     CAT Episode 193 - Jimi Haha (Jimmie's Chicken Shack)

    Jimi Haha is the frontman for the band Jimmie's Chicken Shack that launched in 1993 in Baltimore, MD.  His career took off after signing with Elton John's Rocket Records in 1996.  The band blends their alternative style with rock and funk to produce their driving sound.  They've toured with 311, Live, Everclear, Fuel and others.  In September of 2024, Ray White interviews Jimi and touched on the bands history with various record labels, the "Haha" name, their latest album 2econds, his Jarflys band and plans for 2025.  In our showcase segment we feature the most popular American band from the 1990's, Pearl Jam whose latest album is Dark Matter.  We close out our show with a group that has 2 Platinum and 4 Gold albums, 311, whose new release is titled Full Bloom.  Rock music at the core, on this edition from your rockin' friends at the CAT!

    Joe Bonamassa is constantly listed towards the top of the lists of the best guitarists in the world.  At the age of twelve he opened for the legendary B.B. King and was introduced to the world.  Nominated for three Grammy Awards, Joe's won numerous other awards especially in the Blues world.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White connected with him via telephone in August of 2024 to talk about his Live At The Hollywood Bowl album, playing concerts at many of the world famous concert halls, his activities during COVID, his latest with Black Country Communion (who recently released "V") and much, much more.  Check out more from Joe on Episode 19.  In our showcase segment, we look back at highlights of another excellent guitarist -John Sykes, who played with Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake.  He succumbed to cancer in December of 2024.  We have superb rock guitarists on this episode, brought to you by your friends at Classic Artists Today.  Let 'em rip!

    Bill Payne is an accomplished Keyboardist/Singer/Songwriter who co-founded Little Feat in 1969.  He's also worked and recorded with the elite in the Rock and Roll industry including Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and even Pink Floyd - along with dozens others.  In the early 2000's Bill reunited with The Doobie Brothers (where you'll find him playing on 9 albums throughout the years) and was on the road with the band at the beginning of their 50th year Reunion Tour.  With Little Feat, they recently added 2 new members of the band and recorded Sam's Place, an album that's currently up for a Grammy award.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Bill before he took the stage in October of 2024 to talk about his recent work with the Doobies, Little Feat's Sam Clayton's expanded role on their latest release and other album insights.  In our showcase segment we feature the great one - Eric Clapton, whose latest album is Meanwhile.  The heart of Rock and Roll, right here on The CAT!

    CAT Episode 190 - Elliott Yamin

    Elliott Yamin in 2006 was a finalist on the 5th season of American Idol.  He released his self-titled album in 2007 that peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200.  His single "Wait For You" obtained platinum certification.  Elliott has had 5 solo albums land on the charts throughout his career.  In recent years you can find Elliott performing and touring with the Lao Tizer Band and Special EFX All-Stars.  His latest recordings can be found on Lao Tizer Band's Amplify album, released in 2024.  Multi-award program director Ray White caught up with Elliott before he hit the stage in June of 2024 to talk about his career highlights and recent work with Lao Tizer and Chieli Minucci.  Our showcase segment features three amazing musicians/bands who also has recent releases.  Daryl Hall with D, Norah Jones with Visions and Guster with Ooh La La.  This show "pops" as we launch into 2025, here on the CAT!

    CAT Episode 188 - Fito de la Parra (Canned Heat)

    Adolfo "Fito" de la Parra has been the "classic" drummer for Canned Heat during the past 57 years.  Having played at Woodstock in 1969 (Episodes 180 and 181) he has led a resurgence of the band during the past few years.  Their latest album Finyl Vinyl has garnered tremendous accolades and propelled them towards the top of the Blues Rock charts and album of the year mentions.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White spent time with Fito in July of 2024 to touch on the many highlights of the band during their many decades.  He also gives his unique insights into Canned Heat's new album.  In our showcase segment, we honor the late Mike Pinera who passed away on November 20, 2024.  Mike was co-founder of the band Blues Image and went on to play in Iron Butterfly, New Cactus Band, Alice Cooper and released several solo albums.  He also formed the first "all-star" band - The Classic Rock All-Stars.  We're back from the late 60's and early 70's on this episode brought to you by the authority on "new" music from many of your favorite "classic" bands and performers...     CAT Episode 186 - Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead)

    A tribute to Phil Lesh, founding member and bassist/vocalist for the Grateful Dead, who had a unique style of playing a six-string bass guitar.  His career kicked off when he joined his friend Jerry Garcia in The Warlocks, which ultimately morphed into the Grateful Dead in the mid-1960's.  Many consider Phil as an innovator on the bass.  Phil wrote or co-wrote many of the Grateful Dead's songs throughout the years.  He was inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a member of the band.  After the Grateful Dead disbanded, Phil continued his career in the band's offshoots; The Other Ones, The Dead, Furthur and Phil Lesh and Friends.  Phil passed away on October 25, 2024.  On this tribute episode, we're join by Phil's friends Bill Payne of Little Feat and Duane Betts - son of Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band fame, who have played with Phil during his career.  They share their unique insights about the legendary musician.  For Dead fans and music lovers too, this is an episode not to be missed!  The legends...we have them on the CAT!! 

    CAT Episode 185 - Greg Kihn

    Greg Kihn released over 20 albums during his career and landed 11 songs on the Top 100 and/or mainstream rock charts in the U.S.  Originally from Baltimore, MD, Greg moved to California in 1972 and laid the groundwork for his successful career.  You'd also find him on the airwaves hosting many radio shows.  Greg passed away on August 13, 2024, after a long illness.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White shares his June of 2012 interview with Greg touching on his "Best of Beserkley" compilation, his move to the west coast, days with Joe Satriani in the band, relationship with Bruce Springsteen and much more.  In our Showcase Segment you'll find the latest from Sting whose out on his Sting 3.0 tour,  Daryl Hall who just released his album D and Michael Des Barres (Power Station/Detective) who just dropped his It's Only Rock N' Roll project.  Definitely a "Kihnplete" show on this edition from The CAT!

    Jorma Kaukonen, guitarist/singer/songwriter, recorded with Janis Joplin in 1964.  In 1965, he joined Jefferson Airplane.  You'll find him on every album that they released.  In 1969, Jorma went on to form Hot Tuna with Jack Casady, who still performs today.  In 1974, he recorded his first solo album, of which there are over a dozen studio albums released today, with the latest titled One More Lifetime.  In 1996, Jorma was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Jefferson Airplane.  In this episode we feature Ray White's March of 2009 interview, from our archives.  Jourma shares his insights on some of his old band members, the latest with Hot Tuna, his River Of Time CD along with his feelings about the Americana music genre.  In our showcase segment we focus on former member of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' Mike Campbell.  His latest album, with his band The Dirty Knobs, is Vagabonds, Virgins and Misfits.  The heart of Americana music is featured on this episode of the CAT!!

    Leon Medica, bassist and producer of LeRoux, co-founded the band in 1977.  Throughout the years the band was featured on music television shows including Solid Gold, The Midnight Special and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.  They had 7 songs land on Billboard's Top 100 chart.  Leon won an American Music Award for producing a song from the movie "Dirty Dancing" and also is a Grammy nominated musician who played on an album with blues great Tab Benoit.  This tribute to Leon, who passed away on June 9, 2024, includes our interview with him from July of 2008 which touched on LeRoux, the Louisiana rock sound and LeRoux's album, Ain't Nothing But A Gris Gris.  In our showcase segment, we feature Leon's friend and frontman for Wet Willie, Jimmy Hall.  His latest album is Ready Now.  Sounds of the deep south on this special edition of the CAT!

    John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band hit their stride in the early and mid-1980's with four Top 10 songs.  Many people know the band from the tremendous success of the Eddie and The Cruisers movie soundtrack.  Throughout the years, that band had 11 singles land on the music charts.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White sat down with John in January of 2012, shortly after the passing of his good friend Clarence Clemons - at a tribute show, to talk about The Big Man and the Jersey Shore music vibe.  John's recently released several singles by his band.  In our showcase segment we feature another Jersey band that's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Bon Jovi.  Their latest album is Forever and it's full of rock songs and power ballads.  We'll also feature the latest from another superstar from just across the border in Pennsylvania who unfortunately split with his longtime musical partner.  Daryl Hall has his first album out since parting with John Oates, which is called "D".  The CAT rocks you on this episode as we focus on the Jersey to the Philly sounds!!   

    CAT Episode 175 - Franke and the Knockouts

    Franke Previte formed Franke and the Knockouts in 1980, who had three Top 40 singles and two Top 50 albums.  Franke co-wrote music for the hit soundtrack Dirty Dancing featuring the Academy Award winning "The Time of my Life."  He also co-wrote "Hungry Eyes," which was a #1 U.S. Adult Contemporary hit sung by Eric Carmen.  Franke and the Knockouts most recent album was titled The Complete Collection.  We interviewed Franke in June of 2011.  In our Showcase Segment, we feature Gerry Beckley (interviewed in Episode 71) of America, who has released 10 solo albums including his 2022 release Aurora.  In 2024, he's dropped several singles including "Crazy" and we expect a new album from him soon.  We close out this episode with the legendary Billy Joel who released his first new single since 2007 titled "Turn The Lights Back On."  Kick back and chill as you listen to this episode from the CAT!

    Jai Johanny Johanson aka Jaimoe is the only living original member of the Allman Brothers Band, that was formed in 1969.  During his illustrious career he was also a member of Sea Level.  Jaimoe presently leads a jazz-rock group called Jaimoe's Jasssz Band.  In 1995, he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Allman Brothers Band.  Award winning program director Ray White caught up with Jaimoe at his hotel in September of 2013 to talk about his early days as a musician, hooking up with Duane Allman and his most recent release Jaimoe's Jasssz Band's Renaissance Man.  In our showcase segment, we look back at the career of guitarist/singer/songwriter Dickey Betts who was a mainstay in the Allman Brothers Band for many years and launched several other bands after his departure.  Dickey passed away on April 18, 2024.  Two of Southern/Country Rock stalwarts are brought to you by your authority on the latest happenings about "classic" rock bands...the CAT!

    Don Dokken launched Dokken in 1978.  The Grammy nominated band has had three Platinum albums and ten Top 40 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock charts.  Their latest studio release is 2023's Heaven Comes Down.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Don in November of 2012, in this legacy edition of the CAT, to talk about their Broken Bones album and other key insights into the band's history.  In our "showcase segment" we feature Black Country Communion - a band made up of superstars Joe Bonamassa, longtime member of Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes, son of Led Zepplin drummer John Bonham, Jason, and former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian.  Their latest release is titled V.  We conclude this episode with classic rock icons Blue Oyster Cult, whose latest album is Ghost Stories.  This show features Rock 'N' Roll to the core, brought to you by Classic Artists Today!

    Paul Nelson, a guitarist/record producer/songwriter won a Grammy award for Best Blues Album in 2015 for Johnny Winter's Step Back release.  Paul's played with the elite guitarists in the world and was a phenomenal guitarist himself.  He produced albums and toured with Johnny Winter for several years until Johnny passed in 2014.  Working with many of the blues and rock greats, he also found time to release several of his own projects.  In November of 2023, multi-award winning program director Ray White hung out with Paul to talk about his guitar training, several of his projects and hooking up with Johnny Winter.  I was sad to learn that Paul passed away on March 10, 2024, while out on tour.  He was a great talent that will be missed by many.  We hope you'll enjoy one of his last interviews and the awesome work from Paul on this insightful episode.

    Jeff "Skunk" Baxter is one of the elite guitarists today.  He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Doobie Brothers.  His career on the national scene was launched in 1968 as a member of Ultimate Spinach.  In 1972, Skunk became a founding member of Steely Dan, playing on their first three albums.  Joining the Doobies in 1974, after doing session work on several of their earlier albums, he was with the band until 1979.  Most of his musical career was dedicated to doing session work for many other bands and artists.  In our November of 2023 interview, multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up backstage with Jeff before a show supporting his 2022 album Speed of Heat.  We touched on a series of highlights from his early days, stints with Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, and about his latest solo album and tour.  You won't want to miss this episode!  We close our show with the latest from The Doobie Brothers.  Their latest single is "Lahaina" was recorded to benefit families and individuals affected by the 2023 Hawaii wildfires.  Be sure to listen to our other shows featuring current and former Doobies' on Episodes 18, 44, 75 & 128.  World-class musicians (always) right here on the CAT!!

    CAT Episode 158 - Artimus Pyle (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

    Artimus Pyle was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 as the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd.  His excellent, straight ahead, drumming can be found on 7 of the bands albums.  In addition, Artimus has released a handful of solo albums with his Artimus Pyle Band.  He was among the survivors of the tragic 1977 plane crash that killed the bands front man - Ronnie Van Zant and others.  In Ray White's July of 2023 interview with Artimus, he talked about how he obtained his first name, his time with Skynyrd and his upcoming album.  He wrote the documentary movie Steet Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash, that was released in 2020.  In our showcase segment we pay tribute to Gary Rossington, Lynyrd Skynyrd's founding member and guitarist/songwriter, who passed away on March 5, 2023.  He was the longest surviving original member of the band.  Gary also led the Rossington - Collins Band who had a Top 20 Billboard album in 1980 titled Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere, that garnered a Gold Record award.  The icons of Southern Rock...we have them on The CAT!

    CAT Episode 155 - Keith Reid (Procol Harum)

    Keith Reid was best known as the co-founder of Procol Harum and their lyricist and songwriter.  He's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the song "A Whiter Shade of Pale."  Towards the end of his career, he led The Keith Reid Project, who released two albums, the last one titled In My Head.  Keith passed away on March 23, 2023.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White hooked up with Keith in April of 2009 to talk about his The Common Thread album, which included a highly-impressive group of singers including John Waite, Chris Thompson and Southside Johnny.  His final release with Procol Harum was The Well's On Fire, in 2003.

    The Refugees may be a relatively new band to many, but their members are longtime veterans of the music industry.  Wendy Waldman (featured in Episode 60) is a composer/musician/singer who appeared on albums by artists including Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Buffett and Maria Muldaur.  She's released nine solo studio albums, too.  Deborah Holland (featured on Episode 140) launched her career with the supergroup Animal Logic (including Stewart Copeland and Stanley Clarke) in 1987.  Since then, she's released six solo albums and recently 2 new singles with Animal Logic.  Touring and recording with Elton John and Rod Stewart, Cidny Bullens rounds out the trio.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White shares insights from Wendy and Deborah talking about The Refugees and their other recent work.  Their brand new album is California.  In our showcase segment, we feature a tribute to the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll," Tina Turner.  Awards during her illustrious career have included selling well over 100 million records and receiving 12 Grammy awards.  Tina passed away on May 24, 2023.  The ladies rule on this episode, from Classic Artists Today.

    CAT Episode 147 - Dean Daughtry (Atlanta Rhythm Section)

    Dean Daughtry, keyboardist, was with the Classics IV during their heyday in the late 1960's when the band had three songs reach the Top 5 on the pop charts.  In 1970, Dean was a co-founder of the Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) with other members of The Candymen, with whom Dean was also a member of in his early years.  For nearly 50 years Dean was a mainstay in ARS, which has had six Top 20 hits.  Dean passed away on January 26, 2023.  On this episode multi-award winning program director Ray White reaches back in the archives and features his May of 2010 interview with Dean before he took the stage.  He shared with us his insights into the Classics IV and the emergence of ARS and their then current album Eufala.  We close out this episode with an icon in American music, David Crosby, who left this world on January 18, 2023.  We take you back to his days with The Byrds, Crosby Stills & Nash and his solo work.  Two artists in bands that played a key role in many lives are featured right here on the CAT!
