In this episode, I am joined by the amazing Walter De Brouwer. We dive deep into understanding AI as it co-inhabits our lives alongside humans! It raises new questions, new interaction patterns and new experiences and Walter discussed how to think about AI, treat AI and what AGI will do. Walter's Bio: Walter De Brouwer (WDB) has established several AI and deep tech companies (1990-now), 2 of which have undergone public offerings in Europe (LSE, Euronext) and 2 in the USA (NYSE, NASDAQ). His latest AI company merged with Atlanta-based ShareCare [NASDAQ: SHCR] and went IPO at a valuation of $3.9B (July 2, 2021). At Sharecare he serves as the Chief Scientific Officer. WDB holds a PhD in computational semiotics and has been a professor at Stanford University since 2018 where he is the course director of MED-205. He is an active contributor and beta tester of Generative AI projects, LLMs and Agent architectures. His research interests are in Multimodal Transformers, AGI, GPT agents and 6G. He is the author of 53 patents. WDB is a General Partner at Claritas Capital (Nashville, since January 2022), a $1B PE fund where he runs the Media and Entertainment (Claritas M&E) sector. This week on Womanity – Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to CEO – WDB Investment Holdings – Faith Khanyile. WDB is a women-led group with a focus on funding and supporting female entrepreneurs to transform South Africa’s business and social landscape by empowering women. Women in rural areas tend to be the most marginalised in South Africa, so they are a key focus for the group, with the view that by providing credit to women entrepreneurs allows these ladies to start their own businesses thereby uplifting themselves and their families. The WDB Trust is modelled on the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh, which was conceptualised by Prof. Muhammad Yunus, under the philosophy that credit is a fundamental human right, with the bank offering loans to people who were too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans. WDB has also prioritised women in leadership and the gender pay gap on its gender agenda and drives these initiatives in part through its presence on investment boards and influencing change. Abstract: Meiosis in female oocytes lack centrosomes, the major microtubule-organizing center, which may make them especially vulnerable to aneuploidy. In the acentrosomal oocytes of Drosophila, meiotic spindle assembly depends on the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC). Aurora B is the catalytic component of the CPC while the remaining subunits regulate its localization. Using an inhibitor of Aurora B activity, Binucleine 2, we found that continuous Aurora B activity is required to maintain the oocyte spindle during meiosis I. Furthermore, the necessity of a kinase for spindle regulation suggests that spindle dynamics is regulated by phosphatases. Our result have shown that the protein complex Protein Phosphatase 2A (PP2A) opposes CPC activity, probably by dephosphorylating spindle associated proteins such as the Kinesins. PP2A exists in two varieties, B55 and B56. While both antagonize Aurora B, they typically exhibit different localization and function. B55 has only minor roles in meiosis I spindle function. The B56 subunit is encoded by two partially redundant paralogs in the Drosophila genome, wdb and wrd. Knocking down both B56 subunits showed they are critical for multiple functions during meiosis I, including maintaining sister centromere and arm cohesion, end-on microtubule attachments, and the metaphase I arrest in oocytes. We found that WDB recruitment to the centromeres depends on BubR1, MEI-S332, and kinetochore protein SPC105R. However, only SPC105R is required for cohesion maintenance during meiosis I. We propose that SPC105R promotes cohesion maintenance by recruiting two proteins that further recruit PP2A, MEI-S332, and the Soronin homolog Dalmatian. Copy rights belong to original authors. Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker first joined Iaqradio as a guest back in April of 2008. While illness acquired following exposure to the interior environment of water-damaged buildings (WDB) comprises the bulk of Shoemaker's daily practice, other illnesses caused by exposure to biologically produced toxins are quite similar in their "final common pathway." What this means is that while the illness might begin acutely with exposure to fungi, spirochetes, apicomplexans, dinoflagellates and cyanobacteria, for example, in its chronic form, each of these illnesses has similar symptoms, lab findings, and Visual Contrast Sensitivity findings. Taken together the inflammatory illness from each of these diverse sources is known as a Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome.

It is well documented that patients with chronic Lyme disease also suffer from Candidiasis, food sensitivities, accumulation of heavy metals, and hormonal imbalances.
