Kairos Moments -- a place where we talk about the significant moments in life that have the potential to change everything. A Kairos Moment is when: * God moves/speaks. * We respond. * Everything changes.
blessing, encouragement, powerful, relatable, loved, life, listening, look forward, thank, love this podcast, great, kairos moments, god moments.
Listeners of Kairos Moments that love the show mention: julie has a way, jenny, m looking forward, excited to hear,"What do you do when you are unable to change the difficult situation you're in? Even if you can't change the circumstance, you are not a victim. Instead, you are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be victorious in the midst of your hard season." (Karen Harmon) Karen's Kairos Moment: Karen's pastor CHALLENGED her to praise God FOR the hard season she was in. It felt like lip service, and it felt ridiculous to say out loud; however, the more she did, the more it took root and became her reality. If we truly believe what Romans 8:28 says about all things working together for our good, then we can praise Him FOR the hardship and not just praise Him for the victory coming on the other side. God will use the situation as one of the steps to get you to the ultimate victory. She began to declare, “God, I praise you for this hip fracture! I know at the end of this, it will be for Your glory and for my good. I may not see it now, but I know You have victory on the other side of this obedience.” QUOTE: “The chains started to break when I started to praise.” (Karen) Karen's perspective changed as she began to see who God is instead of focusing on her pain. She decided to do what she could instead of focusing on what she couldn't (mentoring, writing, etc). So often, we want a quick fix or a checklist, but Karen says we put so much value in the final destination, but the beauty lies in the journey. I despise the message, “You are enough.” Because YOU'RE NOT, but He is MORE THAN ENOUGH. By aligning ourselves with that mantra, when we go through these hardships, we beat ourselves up. “If I'm enough, then why can't I do this? Why can't I conquer this? QUOTE: “YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO! He was meant to do that IN you, FOR you, and THROUGH you.” Shift your focus from wanting to be enough to: “God, you are more than enough!”
What do you do when you are angry at, disillusioned with and disappointed in God? How do you handle that crisis of faith? My guest today, Karen Harmon, went through a major plot twist in her life, and it sent her to a really dark place. Listen to today's episode to find out how Karen found her way through the suffering she experienced that left her questioning God. QUOTES: "You can feel all those feelings. He's strong enough to handle them. But once you release them to Him, you'll discover He really is good. He really is still for you and not against you." (Karen) "You can't always find your way into His presence, especially when you are dealing with so many negative emotions. You need to surround yourself with people who will take you there when you can't find your way." (Karen) "Praise Him for the process of going through the hardship, not necessarily for the victory that's coming." (Karen) SCRIPTURE: "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living" (Psalm 27:13 NIV). Let's Connect! REAL LIFE We're taking a deep dive into the woman behind the God-given dream. We can't compartmentalize our callings from the rest of our lives. They're all related, and each aspect has an influence on the other. This episode is for: The woman who feels called by God but has “stuff” going on in the background. Maybe your spouse isn't a believer, you have a health crisis going on, or you have a prodigal child who is just not living like the way they were raised. It's wearing on you, and you don't feel authentic. Maybe you look at all the pretty pictures on Instagram and think to yourself, “How am I supposed to do this when I have "XYZ" going on? I must not be called to do this because I struggle in these areas, and they don't seem to struggle at all. Or maybe you just need someone to come alongside you and share some real practical tips on HOW to move forward even though you have "stuff" going on. WE TALK ABOUT: Kim shares an acronym to make sure we're taking care of ourselves in all the important areas – "S•P•I•C•E•S!" Kim shares a tip on how to deal with "stuff" that comes up as we move forward in our calling and how not to let it derail us. Everybody has "stuff" going on. We can't use that as an excuse any longer to not put action behind what God's called us to. ABOUT KIM: Kim Haar is a writer, speaker, podcaster, licensed professional counselor, and guest radio co-host. She has well over a decade of experience helping others find healing and wholeness in life. Kim has a private practice, There's Hope! IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: Dr. Jamie Morgan's new book – "Her Calling: A Woman's Guide to Fulfilling Her God-given Destiny. You can order it here! What to do in the waiting room of God's calling. Why this message is so needed right now. So many women are sitting on the sidelines for many different reasons: lack of support, fear, lack of mentoring, feeling unworthy, Church hurt, etc. The enemy wants to silence women's voices from proclaiming the Gospel. Living with no regrets. For every excuse we can come up with for not walking in the fullness of our calling, Jesus says, "I died for that!" The root of fear is SELF FOCUS! Emulating other people's ministries is not the goal. Jesus is the goal! QUOTES: "If you look at people to launch you into the ministry, God will make sure you stay in the waiting room!" (Jamie) "God is always building our faith muscles for our future ministries." (Jamie) "The place of woundedness in your life acts as a glass ceiling to answering God's call." GUEST BIO: Dr. Jamie Morgan is an ordained minister who has been in ministry for decades as a senior pastor, teacher of the Word, evangelist, revivalist, reformer, a prophetic voice, conference speaker, podcaster, TV show host, and mentor. Ambition always felt like a dirty word to me! I thought Christian women: are supposed to be meek and quiet, should be passive and content, and should stay as far away from ambition as possible. On Today's Episode: I'm talking to Tammy Whitehurst. Tammy is the co-director of the Christian Communicator's Conference, a training conference for speakers. However, to those who know her best she is simply Davis's wife, an empty nest mom, and a former middle school teacher. Tammy told me she's built her team around the premise of “collaboration over competition.” When I heard that, I knew she was my people, and I had to have her on the podcast. KEY TAKEAWAY POINTS: Abundance vs. Scarcity Mindset! Just because God blesses you with a gift, doesn't diminish His ability to bless me with my own unique gift. Collaborators know how to learn from others. Collaborators are inviters. Collaborators are includers. Usually, they've felt the sting of being on the outside. Collaborators have been underdogs. Collaborators want to see and applaud the gifts God's given other people. Collaborators are confident in the gifts God's given them. Collaborators are encouragers. Collaborators want to see other people succeed. Collaborators share. Collaboration is a Win-Win! QUOTES: “When you collaborate instead of compete with other people, you get MORE doors open to you!” (Tammy) “You do what God's called you to do, and we work together to do something really awesome” (Tammy) “When we compete ... we're ultimately going to end up alone” (Tammy) “Competition is lonely” (Julie) When people compete ... “Satan's like a buzzard. He just roams around picking people apart one painful piece at a time” (Tammy). “Collaboration is a happier place. You don't have jealousy and envy. You accept the call god's put on your life and do it well” (Tammy). “Don't die with buried treasure!” (Tammy) SCRIPTURE: “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life" (Galatians 6:4-5, The MSG). "I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace" (Acts 20:24, NIV). ********************************************* For the woman who is discouraged from even trying because she feels like she can't compete: Step out on two-footed faith. One footed faith says, “Okay Jesus, I'm going to step out in faith, but just in case you don't come through for me, I'm going to have Plan B, C, D, E, F and G.” Believe that the impossible is possible. So many people stop before they even get started because they think they have to be perfect. Cemeteries are filled with stories that were never told, songs that were never sung, teachers that never taught. CHRISTIAN COMMUNICATORS CONFERENCE: Christian Communicators Conference: “It's a small conference where big things happen” (Tammy) If you would like to collaborate with other Christian speakers, this conference is the place to be no matter where you're at on your speaking journey. She is the co-owner of the Christian Communicator's Conference, a training conference for speakers. Dreams becoming idols in our hearts Surrender is key to carrying out the dream God's given you Being an extrovert or introvert has nothing to do with confidence. We need to continually go back to God for a fresh filling At times we may feel like the anointing to walk in our calling has left us. It feels so good to not have to carry the worry of the world. Amy discovered freedom when she was diagnosed with cancer. When you live with fear, you're not really living. There's so much freedom in letting go! What it looks like to surrender your fears to God The goal is not to get rid of fear completely. It's to let the Holy Spirit tame it so it doesn't rule our lives. Brave steps will always be a win! Book was written with the introvert in mind. Community is important on this journey of being emboldened. QUOTES: "You can't know your purpose until you deal with the fear.” (Amy) “When you are in a mode of fear, you are less apt to listen and you certainly aren't going to act on anything.” (Amy) “Fear is normal, but courage gets the final say.” (Amy) “Pride really plays a big factor into a woman's fear.” (Amy) “Your brave step will always be a win!” (Amy) CONNECT w/ AMY: Amy Debrucque is a wife, mom of four, cancer survivor, and co-author of “Embolden.” She is the founder of the Life On Purpose Movement and host of the Life On Purpose Podcast where she encourages women to live on purpose instead of fear. The Bible says: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12 NLT). We know God is not a magic genie that exists simply to fulfill our every wish, desire or longing. But I also know that sometimes when our dreams (the ones we thought God gave us) don't come to fruition, our hearts can become hardened, cold, and unbelieving because we're left hurt and disillusioned. We can't always pinpoint why those dreams never happened, but we can always trust that He knows the bigger picture. His ways are not our ways! If we aren't careful, the disappointments, delays and detours with our dreams give the enemy an open door to build strongholds of doubt and unbelief. A hard heart is not good soil to receive another dream from Him. A sick heart will cause you to: Second guess your ability to hear God. Not be able to dream again. Adopt a "que sera sera" attitude. Not pray. Pray safe prayers – you know the kind of prayers that if God doesn't come through, it's not that big of a deal Not trust God with your heart anymore Ask me how I know. I've been there!
IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: The difference between the pressure of a dream and a weight of a dream. We prepare and show up, the outcome is up to God. (“Pressure's off!”) Faithful over Famous Prophetically speaking into someone's life. How you hold the tension between AMBITION and knowing this dream is God's dream. What God's definition of success is. Sometimes God calls you to be a dream supporter. Sanctification can be part of God's plan for you with the dream He's given you. Slow growth vs. instant gratification. How to know when God is asking you to quit or persevere. God's “Divine Strategic Plan” Sometimes a “failed” dream is really God building into you what you need for the dream. Moses' excuses with the dream God gave him. QUOTES: “Our act of obedience isn't really in pursuit of that dream, but our act of obedience is really in pursuit of Christ.” (Jenny) “Wanting success is fine, but wanting Jesus is greater!” (Jenny) “We yearn for maturity and slam dunks even before taking our first steps.” (Jenny) “It's not just one big dream we're pursuing; it a bunch of little dreams that make up the one big dream of pursuing Him.” (Jenny) CONNECT w/ JENNY: Jenny Randle went from a career in the heart of Hollywood to a faith-based author, national speaker, and chart-topping podcaster. QUOTES: “Clarity comes from action, and action can be just one simple thing.” (Christa) “The longer you sit in overwhelm, the more overwhelming in gets. … The only way to make it stop growing is to do something.” (Christa) “It's very empowering to take one step at a time because you gain confidence with each step that you take.” (Julie) CONNECT w/ CHRISTA: Christa Hutchins equips busy Christian communicators and leaders with project management and problem solving skills so they can turn their big ideas into a successful ministry or business. IN THIS EPISODE: Heather graciously strips away all pretense and tells us what comparison really is and how to find freedom from it. We also answer the question: “Is it wrong to want more or better in life?“ Women are notorious for comparing ourselves with other women in our marriages, homes, jobs, children, body image. We can also fall into the comparison trap in our God-given dreams and in our calling. Comparison doesn't always include other people. We can also struggle when we spend our time comparing ourselves with who we feel we should be and who we used to be. QUOTES: “Comparison is the enemy's way of saying, ‘God cheated you!‘” (Heather) “Idols can be good things in the wrong spot.” (Heather) CONNECT W/ HEATHER: WEBSITE: https://comparedtowho.me/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/comparedtowho/ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/HeatherCreekmoreblog CONNECT W/ JULIE: WEBSITE: https://stuffofheaven.com INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/julie_e_holmquist FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/stuffofheaven

Your God-given dream is not some cute little thing that would be fun to do one day. God planted that seed of a dream in your heart, and He wants to see a harvest. He wants you to be bold and courageous in bringing those dreams to life. It's time to stop playing it safe with your faith, to start leaning into your calling, and to begin bringing those God-given dreams to life. On this episode, Katie Reid and I talk about: One way to discern if your dream is God's will or not. How perfectionism keeps us stuck and paralyzed. How freedom in pursuing a dream can be scary for a perfectionist. What it means to pray bold and unedited prayers. A lot of times God requires us to take a step of faith BEFORE He does the miraculous. SCRIPTURES: "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:17) "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts..." (Colossians 3:15). "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it'" (Isaiah 30:21). QUOTES: "It doesn't depend on us, but God wants to partner with us" (Julie) "God is both POWERFUL and PERSONAL!" (Katie) "God's will is a not a tightrope." In this episode, I talk with Jan Greenwood about: How you learn to be a good leader. What Biblical leadership is. How success is a harder test than obscurity and why. How comparison is a counterfeit power. The grace to wait on God’s timing. Why the preparation season lasts longer than we want it to. How everything goes through a death, burial and resurrection. Listen to episode 10 here. You want to wait for God to open doors of public ministry. What you can expect with greater visibility and success. Jan is a pastor, teacher, and mentor. Her latest book The Grace Giving Leader is about how to lead well and develop people. She is also the author of Women at War and founder of Brave Strong Girl, an online mentoring community for women. Jan and her husband Mark have been married for more than 35 years and they have four children. They live in a suburb of Dallas. You can follow her on Instagram or Facebook. You can visit her website at bravestronggirl.org or her on Facebook @bravestronggirl or @jangreenwood.16. It's grace that empowers us to walk in our calling. It's also grace that empowers us to wait during a season of preparation.

What does it mean to be buoyant? To be buoyant means to be able to stay afloat or rise to the top. In the midst of a difficult season in our lives with wave after wave of bad news, I learned at least six ways to become buoyant even though the waves continued to rage. 1. Recognize and acknowledge God as our only source of POWER, PROVISION, and PEACE. 2. Find JOY! 3. Wage SPIRITUAL WARFARE. 4. WORSHIP 5. SERVE someone else. 6. Do not be afraid to ASK FOR HELP. What other ways have you found to become buoyant in life's troubled waters? Let me know. Email me at Julie@StuffofHeaven.com.
Have you ever gotten whiplash from all the twists and turns and unexpected detours in life? I have. I've also felt like a kite flying around in the wind unsure if God had the other end of the string. But this is what I know: God is good, and He can be trusted. Even when we are scratching our heads and not understanding what He's doing, God has plans and purposes we can't always see at first. If we shift our eyes just a little, we will be able to see God if we look for Him. Listen in to this episode as Leah Lively shares her twists and turns and how she saw God through it all. Leah Lively is a wife and mother of four living in central Virginia. Through writing and speaking opportunities, she is passionate about encouraging others in learning more about the Bible and maturing in their faith. Their mission is to: Ignite Passion, Unlock Potential, Unleash Creativity, and Inspire Purpose With their passion and conviction, their message inspires people of all ages to step out of their comfort zones, pursue their Creator, and to engage this world with the love and power of Jesus Christ. QUOTES: "It’s not about man or a formula. It’s about people engaging God and God engaging people and people submitting their hearts and wills to the plans and purposes God’s given them and being courageous to step forward." "A divine appointment is a situation that comes about in our lies that wasn’t planned or premeditated. There’s a divine exchange — either for prayer, encouragement, salvation or something else that was not orchestrated by you, and both parties understand that it was something that was more than coincidence. It was something God put together. We aren’t always privy to the end result of our obedience. Brian says, “I’m of the opinion that we are on a need to know basis. We don’t need to know, and God’s not obligated to give us the whole story.” CONNECT: Websites: 2MuchtoLive4.com rs1motivationalmedia.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrianWalrondRS1
Kicking the Confidence Killers to the Curb You were created on purpose for a purpose and that was for an intimate relationship with your Creator God. Ephesians 2:10 tells us that God prepared good works in advance for us to do. It takes courage and confidence to do those good works. John 10:10 tells us that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. He doesn’t want you walking confidently in life or your calling. He much prefers you to be hesitant, doubting and paralyzed from fear. Was Jesus confident? Yes, and we can be, too! Merriam-Webster defines confidence as “great faith in one’s self or abilities.” I don’t really like that particular definition. I know my strengths and weaknesses, but I only have great faith in God accomplishing His purposes in and through me. He gives me the grace, strength, skill and ability to do His good work. I much prefer the second definition: a state of mind in which one is free from doubt.” God wants us to walk in confidence WITH Him. You can be humble and confident at the same time! It’s walking WITH Him that allows us to be both humble and confident. Galatians 6:4-5 says, “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” (The Message) Make a careful exploration of who you are. Make a careful exploration of the work you have been given. Sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. REFLECTION QUESTIONS: What are my strengths and weaknesses? What are my skills and talents? What is my spiritual gift? What has God placed on my heart to do? Do I know what my calling is? Where am I not walking confidently in my life and in my calling? What blinders do I need to put on in order to not be distracted with comparison (eliminate social media, etc.)? What is one thing I can do this week to kick the 6 Confidence Killers to the Curb?
Confidence plays an important role in our lives and our calling. Misplaced confidence is pride and will only destroy us. True confidence comes from our right standing with God, our ability to hear Him, and to respond to what He's saying. Satan knows the enormity of what happens when a believer confidently walks in the good works God prepared in advance for them to do. He is threatened when we realize the high value of our calling (Philippians). There are 6 Confidence Killers I've seen the enemy use in my own life. They are: Comparison Perfectionism A Wounded Heart Fear of Man People Pleasing Our Thoughts and Words In the next episode, we talk about how to be confident in life and in our calling. Tell me what stood out to you in this episode. Maybe you have another Confidence Killer you would add to the list. Email me at julie@stuffofheaven.com.
"You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully" (2 Co 9:7). There's a lot of vitriol surrounding what's going on right now in our world, especially as it pertains to the mistreatment and suffering of our black brothers and sisters. Our response should not be coerced but informed and from a heart of love -- His heart. I want to encourage you to listen to His voice and do what He says. He'll tell you. It's very much on His heart and mind.
Jenny Randle is my guest today. She went from a career in the heart of Hollywood to a faith-based author, national speaker, and chart-topping podcaster. Her search for meaning in the everyday moments of life has led her to write her newest book Getting to Know God's Voice: Discover the Holy Spirit in Your Everyday Life (A 31-Day Interactive Journey). In this book, Jenny encourages readers to discover how God designed them on purpose. Getting to Know God's Voice came about as Jenny wanted to know what it looked like to know God biblically, fully, and authentically. That started her on a journey of learning the giftings that Jenny has in her life and how they fit into the world around her and into the Church and Church culture. Getting to Know God's Voice is a guide for those in the Church who want to learn how to fully and authentically embrace the Holy Spirit with safeguards and boundaries in place so it's not manipulative but a really beautiful way to experience the Holy Spirit in our everyday and mundane moments. WE DISCUSSED: Intimacy with God (what it is and what it looks like) Spiritual Gifts (Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12). Power/Revelatory Gifts Her newest book is an interaction journey. In it, Jenny talks about the 8 different ways God speaks to us. A couple of them are: God's Word. She has the readers read a passage, work through some questions and write down what they feel God is saying. People. Jenny asks the readers to prayerfully ask God to put a person on their hearts and to ask God how they can encourage them. If it is an encouraging and comforting word, she asks them share it with that person and write down how they responded. It's not enough to RECOGNIZE the Kairos Moments and the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We have to RESPOND to them, and that's when EVERYTHING changes. CHALLENGE: God may give you a single sentence for someone that might not make any sense, but it might be a moment where they feel seen and known by a God Who loves them. They might want to develop a relationship with THAT God. God is inviting you to participate in what He's doing in the world! You are gifted. Don't let the enemy steal that from you. Feeling stuck in life? There are 5 things God wants to do during this season. In Episode 11, we talk about how He wants to: 1. TEACH US ABOUT REST. 2. Help us TEND TO OUR HEARTS. In this episode, we will talk about how He wants to: 3. TRAIN US IN OUR WAITING SEASON. 4. UNTANGLE THE LIES WE BELIEVE so we can be free. 5. POSITION and PREPARE us for what's next. Have you ever felt stuck in life? Maybe you feel stuck right now. There are two kinds of seasons of being stuck: A God-Ordained Season of Being Stuck An Appointed Season of Growth in Being Stuck Sometimes when we feel stuck in life, it is actually God trying to get our attention. It is a God-Ordained Season. God’s plan is NEVER to leave us in those places of feeling stuck. But by acknowledging them, we will be able to move forward in what His plan is for our lives. There are things He wants to do when we are feeling this way. He wants to: TEACH US ABOUT REST. Help us TEND TO OUR HEARTS. TRAIN US IN OUR WAITING SEASON. Waiting on the Lord is actively anticipating what He will do in and through our lives. The more we try to get unstuck in our own strength, the deeper and more entrenched we get. UNTANGLE THE LIES WE BELIEVE so we can be free. POSITION and PREPARE us for what’s next. In this episode, I talk about the first two: Teaching us about rest and help us tend to our hearts. 1. TEACH US ABOUT REST We see this emphasis on rest everywhere in the physical world: In writing, we pause at the commas and stop at the periods. In music, the rest note is just as important as the other notes. Without it, the music would be chaotic, blurred and unstructured noise. In farming, the farmer intentionally lets a piece of land lie unplanted for a season. He rests his land so the soil is replenished with nutrients and able to sustain future planting. 2. TENDING TO OUR HEARTS Just like idolatrous Israel was prone to wander and lose her way as she chased after anything and anyone but God to fill her, we too chase after other things–lesser loves. Lesser loves are those temporary things upon which we have set our affections. They are anything we look to fill a hole in our hearts that only God can fill. Next episode we talk about the remaining 3 things God wants to do when we are feeling stuck. JOIN THE KAIROS MOMENTS FACEBOOK GROUP HERE!
It’s Part of the Process When God gives us a dream or a vision of what our lives will look like and the impact we will have on the world for Him, we go through a process before it becomes reality. The bad news is that process is not fun. Matter of fact, it can be a painful one, but God is all about the process. There is purpose in the process! The good news is God does so much more than we could ask or even think when we submit ourselves to that process. In this episode, I'm going to share the 3 Step Process I've seen God take someone through as their dream becomes a reality. QUOTES: “Why...would God go to the trouble to plant a garden that is forced to sprout rather than commanding it into existence?” She came to understand that “God delights in watching things grow.” (Beth Moore, “Chasing Vines” 2020) To connect with me: Website: https://www.stuffofheaven.com I'd love to hear from you! God's promises to us in Psalm 91: He will rescue. He will protect. He will answer. He will be with us in trouble. He will deliver us. He will honor us. He will satisfy us with long life. He will show us His salvation. ************************************ Psalm 91 as read by my 11-year-old son! To me, there is just something really powerful when I hear a child read a portion of Scripture. Hope this ministers hope, encouragement and faith to you! "For the word of God is alive and active." (Hebrews 4:12) "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11).
Where are fear and doubt holding you back? Are you self-sabotaging the plans God has for you? God is inviting you to step out of that fear and to walk in faith toward His plans for you. It really is simple, but it isn’t easy. It takes courage. Don’t you want to leave the gray and dreary confining life of a fearful existence and step into the bright and exciting adventurous life God has planned? J.J. Gutierrez talks about her KAIROS MOMENT that came when God used her 6-year-old daughter to speak truth to her. She could have easily dismissed it, especially coming from such a young girl. But she RECOGNIZED it as coming from God and RESPONDED to it. From that moment on, J.J. knew what she had to do. It CHANGED everything. What do you do when fear is staring at you in the face? What is your go-to response when unimaginable tragedy strikes? Tiffany Johnson shares her story of when she was attacked by a shark while she and her husband were vacationing in the Bahamas. TODAY'S TAKEAWAYS MEMORABLE QUOTES: What you put in comes out! Even though they (God's promises) may not be for us today, we don't know what we're going to face in the future. You always want to think you have a strong faith, but honestly, you don't know until it's tested. The times I spent with the Lord before the attack, cultivated this closeness with Him that sustained me when I needed it the most. Tiffany has had the opportunity to share her testimony on many media outlets, including Animal Planet, CNN's Vital Signs, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, The Today Show, Inside Edition and the 700 Club. One man accused her of fabricating her story after seeing her picture the day she was released. She and her husband radiated the peace and joy of the Lord. He said the only reason why he even considered it a fake news story was because of the smiles on their faces. Tiffany was able to share with him the reason for her joy. She said, "The awesome thing about God's joy is that it is not dependent upon our circumstance. We can have joy despite the lowest of lows that we're in because that's what God's promises are to us." PRACTICAL WAYS TO TRUST THE LORD IN THE MIDST OF DIFFICULTIES: Spend time communicating with God daily. Journal. We can look back and see God's faithfulness in answering our prayers. Be intentional with our relationship with God. Build a history with Him. As we begin to know God's character through reading His Word, we have to tear down any false ideas of God our experiences might have told us. When you are able to grasp more of the truth of Who He is, we can start to see ourselves as He sees us. Our thoughts are extremely powerful! We are changing to a bi-weekly format, and here's why: Many of you have told me my podcasts are too short. It seems like we just get to the good stuff...and then it ends. That's a good problem to have. Am I right?! Going to a bi-weekly format will allow me to dive deeper in my interviews and pull more from my guests and to create richer content for you. This podcast is all about YOU! Subscribe to Kairos Moments so you don't miss a single episode!
Which tree are you living in within your relationships? The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil Sin-conscious ONLY looks at the actions of others (and not their heart) Seeks to EXPOSE sin and wrongdoing in others Speaks truth in harsh, judgmental way "My RIGHTS!" The Tree of Life Love-conscious Looks at actions AND their intentions Seeks LOVE which covers over a multitude of sins Speaks truth in humility and love "Our RELATIONSHIP!"
What do you do when you are unable to change the difficult situation you’re in? Even if you can’t change the circumstance, you are not a victim. Instead, you are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be victorious in the midst of your hard season. Karen Harmon Karen’s Kairos Moment: Karen’s pastor CHALLENGED her to praise God FOR the hard season she was in. I may not see it now, but I know You have victory on the other side of this obedience.” QUOTE: “The chains started to break when I started to praise.” Karen’s perspective changed as she began to see who God is instead of focusing on her pain. She decided to do what she could instead of focusing on what she couldn’t (mentoring, writing, etc). So often, we want a quick fix or a checklist, but Karen says we put so much value in the final destination, but the beauty lies in the journey. I despise the message, “You are enough.” Because YOU’RE NOT, but He is MORE THAN ENOUGH. By aligning ourselves with that mantra, when we go through these hardships, we beat ourselves up. “If I’m enough, then why can’t I do this? Why can’t I conquer this? QUOTE: “YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO! He was meant to do that IN you, FOR you, and THROUGH you.” Shift your focus from wanting to be enough to: “God, you are more than enough!”
What do you do when you are angry at, disillusioned with and disappointed in God? How do you handle that crisis of faith? Karen Harmon went through a major plot twist in her life, but she came out the other side singing His praises. You can feel all those feelings. He's strong enough to handle them. But once you release them to Him, you'll discover He really is good. He really is still for you and not against you. "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living" (Psalm 27:13 NIV). You can't always find your way into His presence, especially when you are dealing with so many negative emotions. You need to surround yourself with people who will take you there when you can't find your way. Praise Him for the process of going through the hardship, not necessarily for the victory that's coming.
This Kairos Moment happened while I was recording the episode with Pete and Jordan Jones. It will set you free, friends! Step out (even if it's not perfect), and do what will bring God glory. Make Him famous!

GUEST: On today's episode, I talk to Joel Muddamalle. He is the Director of Theology for Proverbs 31 Ministries and is a PhD student at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with an emphasis in theology. Joel and I discuss God's original intent for Adam and Eve (and subsequently us) when He placed them in the Garden within the context of His Divine rest. WE ALSO DISCUSSED: The tension and mystery of trusting in the finished work of Christ as wholly sufficient AND as a result of that, we work. "Biblical Theology" ... what it is and why everybody should want to study it. God's presence is rest! Rest and how it relates to our identity, our relationship with God, and our relationships with other people. (So freeing!) Progressive sanctification. The Gospel is like a river. Imago Dei: The image of God. It was not broken at the fall. What we need to discuss is the Status and Standard of the Imago Dei. QUOTES: "As we attempt to know God's Word, we will find it is knowing us." (Joel) "As a result of the fact that God has done the finishing work, I can partner with Him in the work He's assigned to me unto His glory that will ultimately be for my good." (Joel) "The Old Testament sets seeds for us to see come to fruition in the New Testament. Likewise, in the New Testament, we need to ask ourselves where are the echoes, allusions and development that has already been laid in the Old Testament." (Joel) "The mysteries of God are wrapped up in the special needs of my son." (Julie) CONNECT: To connect with Joel on... Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Muddamalle/. Today I discuss 5 Ways to Discern Your Own Kairos Moments. Scriptures mentioned in today's episode: Galatians 5:25 1 Kings 19:11-13 Psalm 27:13
