Kylie Moore-Gilbert is a scholar from Cambridge University and she was a lecturer for Middle Eastern Studies, history and politics at Melbourne University. Her University sponsored her when she was invited to speak at a conference in Iran. It was there her nightmare began… Arrested by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for espionage. She was completely innocent. I followed her plight to be freed from the beginning. This is one mentally tough, physically tough and resilient woman whom I admire immensely. Kylie is Pure Grit personified, surviving over 2 years of living hell (most of which was spent in isolation in a tiny cell). It's hard to fathom surviving such torture. She is now an author, her book is called The Uncaged Sky. Stripped of all basic human rights, her story is harrowing. I grew up seeing him not only in the Uncle Toby's Iron Man series and Nutri Grain Iron Man series but at 23 he was crowned Australian Iron Man Champion, yes one extremely fit athlete. Then I recall one day seeing him not able to walk, I knew something was seriously wrong. Steve was diagnosed with something so rare he was only the 111th in the world and the 4th youngest at 38 it is called Poems Syndrome. Then being told he only had 2 years to live.     As a baby, Emmanuel Kelly was found by soldiers, barely alive in a shoe box in Iraq. He was then taken to the Mother Theresa Orphanage in Bagdad with no birth certificate, no identity. It is nothing short of a miracle he is alive today. His Mum, Humanitarian Moira Kelly, met and fostered Emmanuel and his now brother Ahmed after they spent a harrowing 7 or so years living as children of war. Over the next 14 years, Emmanuel had 6 surgeries and overcame massive obstacles to learn to walk and feed himself with a knife and fork. He captured people’s hearts across the globe with his heartfelt- Yoko Ono endorsed- rendition of Imagine on the X-Factor in 2011 (viewed by over a billion people).
