We have made it to the final episode of Season 4! Thank you for continuing on this journey with That Settles It.What I have observed recently, and more frequently, is the number of people who have some knowledge of God, but they don't know what their relationship status is with God. They don't know where they stand with Him. That's scary! Especially for someone like myself (a Believer), who has had an opportunity to be in their presence and to share the Gospel; because we can't believe for you – You must believe. “Do YOU Believe?” If you're not sure, maybe because you've seen some things that look weird; or maybe you once were, but for whatever reason you sort of stepped away from the faith, this Message is for YOU! “For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).”Society has misled people to believe that God is like a genie or a vending machine and you can go to Him when you need Him and then you can just put Him back on the shelf when you're done. That's not how it works. We need Him every second – every minute – every day of our lives. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).There is one way - If anyone has tried to convince you of anything else – that is not the Gospel!Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Today, people believe more in the miracles, signs and wonders than they do in the God of the miracles, signs, and wonders; but it is written:“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17-18).”If you want this to be your lifestyle, you have to believe. “Do YOU Believe?”Even if you're not sure. Even if things don't make sense to you, ask God: “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief (Mark 9:24)!”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).Recite this short prayer to receive Salvation:“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I confess that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead. I want to trust and follow You for the rest of my life. Come in Jesus. Save me and I know that I will be saved. I accept You into my life as my Lord and Savior. Father, teach me Your ways. In Jesus name. Amen.”If you made this confession and you believe it, you are now saved. Find a good bible-based church and get connected. Find a Bible that you can understand when you read it and trust God to do the rest. Now, “Do YOU Believe?”My prayer is that salvation comes to your entire household – that you, your children, and your children's children might be saved.Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

"Before You Pick Up The Mic...Heal"

This is not to discourage anyone; but the hope is to encourage those who have a desire to help others: Please MAKE SURE YOU ARE HEALED FIRST! We've had enough people bleeding on others because they have not been healed themselves. They are trying to anesthetize their hurt and pain by trying to help others. They want to help others, but not for all the right reasons. They are trying to use the spotlight and the attention to build themselves up, to boost their self-esteem and self-confidence. They haven't received the help or the healing that they are trying to provide to others. So, Before You Pick Up the Mic – Heal!I understand that a part of the healing process encourages you to find purpose and meaning; because we are all created with a purpose. So, finding your purpose is a great thing; but you have to also make sure that you are equipped. Just like we study and learn things for our jobs, careers, and businesses; we must employ the same practices when it comes to helping people. After all, these are people's lives that we're talking about; and you don't want to deal haphazardly with them.People can tell when you're not healed. They can sense the insecurities and the poor self-esteem being masked behind your attempts at life coaching, ministry, pastoring, helps, and etc. You overreact. You're easily triggered. Especially with social media, there will be trolls and if you try to retaliate or “clap back,” your message will lose its efficacy because those watching will question, “Which one is the coach and which one is the fool.” That's why it is imperative that you heal – so that you are the light – so that you don't succumb to the darkness. Those who haven't properly healed have a tendency to walk in unforgiveness. When they start talking it comes across in the way they speak. People can hear and sense the bitterness. Also, if you have a poor track record with bad relationships, that is an indication that you may not be totally healed. You can't coach others on relationships if you don't have any (not even one). Please Note: Being called to a time of separation is not the same as offending and alienating everyone who comes into your life. What happens when you don't receive the support or interaction from others as you'd hoped, Will you quit? Will you begin to doubt yourself? Will you feel defeated and think that this is no longer your purpose? These are all reasons why it is so important that you heal first. It is possible to have been hurt – and heal – and become a great resource in helping others to heal. You can still be effective. You can still be used. You are NOT damaged goods. But, Before You Pick Up The Mic, make sure you are healed. When you are healed you are more equipped to help others heal; because you've done the work. You've been through the process. You speak from a space of love and you extend more grace and patience to those who are where you once were. You don't speak from a place of judgment and condemnation (especially if you are in ministry). Your message will not come across as one from a place of trauma and despair. But, instead you will show up as an Overcomer.Sometimes we don't even have to speak, our lives become an encouragement and a testimony within itself. We are Living Epistles (2 Corinthians 3:2).We are the lamp upon a hill; a city that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14).Men will see your good works and glorify God (Matthew 5:16).Do Good – Be the Good – That will have people asking you for help and guidance.“Before You Pick Up The Mic…HEAL!”Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

In this final episode of this series, we are going to talk about something that many people don't like to talk about – and will try to avoid it at all costs – and that is Being Prepared for Unfortunate Circumstances. The thing about Unfortunate/Unforeseen Circumstances is they don't discriminate based on age/race/religion/gender/socioeconomic status - no one is exempt. And yes, while we believe, pray, and hope for the best, it is wise to be prepared for the worst (just in case). If we didn't learn anything else from the past two years, the one thing we should have learned is that things can change dramatically and rapidly – without much warning. So, let's Be Ready. In this episode, we will discuss Being Ready for Financial Crisis, Illness, and Death. So, you're working, you have a great job with great pay and then BOOM! Out of nowhere, you lose your job. What do you do while you seek new employment? Same thing if you are a business owner; what do you do if your business takes a big economic loss? Are You Prepared? Here are some things you should do NOW to prepare for financial crisis.Be Ready For Financial Crisis·         Multiple Streams of Income (Side Hustles, Investments, Part-time Job, and etc.)·         Save! Save! Save! (and Save Some More!)·         Look for ways to reduce expenses·         Live below your means·         Emergency Fund (in addition to your savings)·         Budget – and backup budget (leaves out things you can cut back on or do without if necessary)·         Take stock of your assets (what do you have)·         Get rid of debt NOW·         Keep cash on hand in case of emergency·         InsuranceNow, here's a hard one. What do you do if you or a loved one becomes extremely ill, or even worst, passes away? Will you and your family Be Ready? I know it may sound morbid, but this is probably one of the most important conversations you should have with the people you love. Don't make the mistake of thinking, “We'll cross that bridge when we get to it;” because what if it is sudden and unexpected? What if you or a loved one is incapacitated and unable to make these important decisions? So, why not do it now? Here are some things you should do NOW to prepare for illness/death.Be Ready For Illness/Death·         Say everything you need and want to say·         Say, “I love you” often·         Spend as much time as you can together – create great family memories (leaving no room for regrets)·         Discuss family assets – Insurance (Health and Life)The ants have no chief, no boss, no manager — no one has to tell them what to do. You'll see them working and toiling all summer long, stockpiling their food in preparation for winter. So, wake up, sleepyhead. How long will you lie there? When will you wake up and get out of bed? If you keep nodding off and thinking, “I'll do it later,” or say to yourself, “I'll just sit back awhile and take it easy,” just watch how the future unfolds! By making excuses you'll learn what it means to go without. Poverty will pounce on you like a bandit and move in as your roommate for life (Proverbs 6:7-11 TPT).Don't Be Getting Ready; Be Ready – Stay Ready~For Unfortunate Circumstances~Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

I hope you are enjoying this series entitled, “Don't Be Getting Ready; Be Ready – Stay Ready.” We kicked it off with “Be Ready for Your Dream Job.” Then we talked about “Be Ready for that Great Business Opportunity.” In this episode we will discuss “Be Ready For Love.”If you are desiring love, please know that YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE. Here are some of the things we can do now to Prepare for Love:Self-Awareness – Are you self-aware? How can you expect someone else to give you what you need/want when you don't know what you need/want? Identify your strengths and weaknesses; your likes and dislikes; your beliefs; your boundaries. This way you can properly articulate these things to the people who come into your life. Take the guesswork out of it.HEALING – If you have ever experienced any type of hurt, disappointment, rejection, failed relationship, and etc., it is imperative that you heal first – before trying to start a new relationship. Remember the old saying, “Hurt people hurt people?” It's true. I don't think most people intentionally try to hurt others. I believe they never took the time to heal, and they enter another relationship “bleeding” on someone who had nothing to do with their past hurts and pains. How does that look? They push people away and their defense is, “I'm protecting myself.” Nope, that's not it. They have actually convinced themselves that they are the victim – when the real issue is they never properly healed – and these are some of the residual effects. Please heal and begin your journey to being made WHOLE.Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one's achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Love never stops loving (1 Corinthians 13:4-8 TPT).Do some introspection and ask yourself these questions about you? Where do you fall in this blueprint? The worst thing you can do is have someone to come into your life who's ready to love you, but you're not ready.“Don't Be Getting Ready; Be Ready – Stay Ready – For Love.”Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

In our first episode of this series, we talked about “Be Ready For Your Dream Job” (https://thatsettlesit.wordpress.com/blog/). In this episode, we are going to discuss steps to make sure you are ready when That Great Business Opportunity presents itself. If Warren Buffet or Jeff Bezos came to you today, wanting to invest in your business, and they asked for your business plan, or your business structure, or even your business bank account info, would you be ready? Remember, “Don't Be Getting Ready; Be Ready – Stay Ready.”Faith without works is dead (James 2:17).Here are the steps needed to start your business. Please note that many of these items on this list don't cost any money to get started. What's required is YOU doing the work. So, let's get busy. Here we go…After you have come up with a great business idea (so, that's the first step):Research – Who is your target market? Where is the greatest need for your product or service? How will you get it to the people cost-efficiently? Business Name – This should be something catchy and memorable.Business Plan – This is basically your strategy for your business that highlights its goals and plans for achieving them.  Business Structure – Decide if your business will be a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, S corporation, or limited liability company (LLC). EIN – This is your business tax ID number. You can apply for free at irs.gov. Business Bank Account – This may require a small deposit to get started, but do your research so you will know what you need to get it started, and which bank will work best for your business needs.  Business Funding – How will you fund your business? How much do you need to fund your business? How can you contribute to seeding your own business?Website – Social media is great, but you also need a website. You can get a free website from host sites such as Wix, Weebly, and WordPress.Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty (Proverbs 21:5 NLT).The worst thing you can do is be presented with a great business opportunity and then blow it by trying to throw something together at the last minute and not give your best presentation, simply because you weren't ready. “Don't Be Getting Ready; Be Ready – Stay Ready - For That Great Business Opportunity” Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

A friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17). If you have people in your life who have proven to be friends indeed, hold on to them. Show your appreciation for them and thank them often because true friends are rare and hard to find. Our first three episodes talked about people who come under the guise of friends, but who have impure motives. In this episode, we will talk about ways to recognize real friends. Characteristics of Real Friends:~Real friends show up when it matters.~Real friends are dependable.~Real friends are supportive.~Real friends applaud your success.~Real friends offer reciprocity.~Real friends tell the truth – even when it hurts – even if it may bruise your ego. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful (Proverbs 27:6). Real friends are Willing to Fight: for you; with you; and for the friendship.Let's make sure that we are showing ourselves friendly and that we are True Friends Indeed. They want to witness the path of destruction and calamity up close and personal. How many of you have Storm Chasers in your life? They show up front and center when you go through storms of life. You very rarely hear from them or see them during your victories – but they hasten to witness your storms (difficult times/trials).They hate that you are winning. That you are enduring. That you refuse to quit! These are the people who pray for and hope for your downfall. They know the hell you've been through and they hate that you won't stay down – you keep getting back up.But guess what happens after a storm? – THE SUN (SON) SHINES! You are More than a Conqueror so you will always get back up.For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 TLB). It's good they are front and center because God says “He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23:5).” But, don't be like them - offer them some. Your kindness will heap coals of fire upon their heads. Let God deal with them – vengeance is His (Romans 12:19-20).THERE WILL BE GLORY AFTER THIS!!! Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

Beware of those people who are sent (by the enemy) as a distraction – to get you off course. Their sole purpose is to make you lose focus and ultimately quit. This is especially true if you are doing/building anything for the Kingdom of God. Remember Sanballat and Tobiah in the Book of Nehemiah in the Bible (Chapter 4)? They were angry that Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall and their weapon of choice was to mock him and try to distract him.Message: Watch out for those people who always have something negative to say about the work you're doing. Be like Nehemiah – he was so focused that he didn't have time to entertain them and their tactics – he was focused on finishing what he started. But when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs, Ammonites, and Ashdodites heard that the work was going ahead and that the gaps in the wall of Jerusalem were being repaired, they were furious. They all made plans to come and fight against Jerusalem and throw us into confusion. But we prayed to our God and guarded the city day and night to protect ourselves (Nehemiah 4:7-9 NLT).Tips for Overcoming Distractions:~Stay Focused~Pray~Be Prepared to Fight for Your Work~Keep Building Remember, If God Said It, Then That Settles It.

I remember when I was preparing to unveil the biggest thing I had done in my life (in 2019) - my book - Runaway Slave: Run and Don't Look Back. I took some time to reflect on the events that helped get me to that point. I thought about the times I felt defeated and the times I felt as if I was on top of the world. Then, I remembered a word I received from the Lord on January 14, 2018: “Run and Don't Look Back!” It doesn't matter if we start out slow, the key is once we start, to keep moving and don't look back. Have you ever tried to run while you were looking behind you? Not only is it difficult, it's dangerous! You could injure yourself; you risk getting off course; and you will undoubtedly work harder than if you just keep looking forward. Don't allow yourself to get distracted by trying to compete with anyone else; run at your own pace. Keep your eyes on the prize!Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us. Keep your eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards; and now he sits in the place of honor by the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2 TLB).To sum it up, here are some things to remember as you work towards realizing your goals:~Once you start, don't stop.~Let go of regrets from your past.~Don't allow fear to control you, or dictate your actions.~Stay focused.~Keep moving forward, and don't look back.~Remember, not everyone is a cheerleader, some are spectators, others are naysayers; and some are being inspired by watching you.My prayer is that my sharing encourages you to step out in faith and do what God has called you to do. Run and Don't Look Back!Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV).Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

“We've Been Going About This All Wrong”

Play Episode Play 44 sec Highlight Listen Later Sep 12, 2021 9:02

I recently had a revelation concerning the scripture, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies (Psalm 23:5).” I've heard so many ideas/suggestions surrounding this scripture. Many believe God is going to bless you in front of your enemies just so you can rub it in their faces. Some believe God is going to bless them so they can eat in front of their enemies while they are starving. I have even said, in times past, “It's okay to have enemies; but God is going to prepare my table before me right in front of them.” I think We've Been Going About This All Wrong! I want to offer a different perspective…We must first think about everything we know about God, the True and Living God. There is NOTHING in His character that would have us antagonize our enemies! As a matter of fact, He tells us to “love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you (Luke 6:27-28).” He also says, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads. Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good (Romans 12:20-21).” I believe when God says “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;” He is using this as a three-fold ministry moment.1.   He is doing exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think.2.   HE is using it as a lesson for our enemies.3.   He is testing us to see how we will treat our enemies.See, God says: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” And right after this scripture, He tells us how we should treat our enemies. So, I think We've Been Going About This All Wrong. But we thank God for His Grace and an opportunity to get it right. Let's change our perspective and not try to kick our enemies when they are already down, but instead let's do what Christ would do. Let's love them. Let's be like Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers. But, when there was a famine in the land and they needed him. Joseph's response:“But Joseph told them, “Don't be afraid of me. Am I God, to judge and punish you? As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil, for he brought me to this high position I have today so that I could save the lives of many people. No, don't be afraid. Indeed, I myself will take care of you and your families.” And he spoke very kindly to them, reassuring them (Genesis 50:19-21).”Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

“I Want the Perks and the Benefits, But I Don't Want the Work”

Play Episode Play 58 sec Highlight Listen Later Sep 5, 2021 8:34

So, I recently told God that I want the perks and the benefits of being a Child of God, but I don't really want to do much of the work. I suspect after He finished laughing hysterically, He just shook His head…But, in all seriousness, this is how I feel (sometimes). I feel like I've done so much “work” for the church that I should get a break and just chill. You may be laughing or shaking your head, but I am being so serious. I know that Salvation is free, but as a member of the Body of Christ, we all have work to do; no one is exempt. I just want the perks and the benefits. I want God to Bless me and supply all my needs. I want His Favor and of course an abundance of His Grace; but I don't want to do my part for His Kingdom anymore (I feel like I've done enough). Now, don't get this twisted, I know that we can't work to earn anything from God. His Word is clear: “It's not by works, lest any man should boast.” Nevertheless, we still have work to do. We have to continue working on ourselves (attitude, mouth, the way we treat others); if we just want to be a good Ambassador for the Kingdom of Heaven in the earth. We have to work towards our dreams and goals and aspirations. We have to work to help spread the Good News. I KNOW I am NOT alone. Is there anyone else who wishes you could live a carefree life, not worrying about sin or pleasing God, but still receive all His benefits? These scriptures convicted me and reminded me why I can't quit: And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest (Matthew 9:35-38). I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4).For those of us who are called and chosen, we must remember that God doesn't change His mind; the work of the Lord must go on. So, for those of us who have been laboring for a while, I pray for renewed strength and endurance. I pray for the zeal we had when we first believed. I pray we will not grow weary in well doing. I pray we be reminded in due season we will reap if we faint not. I pray we will mount up with wings as eagles. I pray we will walk and not faint. That we will continue to work the works of Him Who sent us. My Resolve: Nevertheless, Thy Will Be Done! Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

I am a planner in every sense of the word. Once an idea is conceived, I take it and I run with it. I work tirelessly making sure no detail is overlooked, taking care of all the logistics, and making sure every kink has been worked out. Any event with my name attached to it will scream, “Excellence!”As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42 NLTThis is a familiar passage of scripture, and every now and then I have to refer back to it. Maybe it's because the things I once took for granted, I now cherish, like family and friends. In the scripture, Mary made the wise choice to sit at the feet of Jesus. I was once guilty of assuming the role of Martha. There were times I became so upset over the details that I made my guests feel extremely uncomfortable, instead of providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for them. Doing Too Much.We all know someone (maybe it's you) who spends days/weeks leading up to a major holiday, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, cooking, cleaning, decorating, etc. When the day finally arrives, they are either too tired to enjoy the festivities, or anxious and frustrated because they don't want anyone to mess up their home or their beautiful decorations/displays. THAT'S WHY IT'S THERE, SO PEOPLE CAN ENJOY IT! Isn't it? Or is it there to make you feel good about yourself, so people will compliment you on the great job you've done, and tell you how everything is so lovely? I'll let you ponder that…I have taken a step back from planning as many family events as I have in the past. I grew tired of missing out on spending time actually engaging with family and friends; all because I was busy making sure everything was “Just right.” I was Doing Too Much. Let's not forget what is most important: Our loved ones, those we care about, precious time spent creating memories, and taking a trip back down memory lane (Every family does it). Most people will not remember the décor or the menu, but they will remember how they felt.Let's stop being so concerned with the details. Plan, decorate, and make everything nice, but don't let it consume you. Instead, focus on what matters most. My last family gathering, I think my family was surprised. I had a simple menu, I didn't cook anything (everything was catered), no extravagant decorations; just good food, good times, and sweet fellowship. I wasn't worried about how amazing things looked (none of that matters). I was excited about laughing, singing, telling stories, swimming, eating, and enjoying the company of everyone in attendance. My primary focus is now those who want to spend time with me; be it family or friends; not trying to make everything “Perfect.” I am no longer guilty of Doing Too Much. As we prepare for the upcoming Holiday season, I suggest you do the same. Cherish what matters most. Those around you (family and friends) are your first Ministry. Don't ever lose sight of that. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:35).Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

“What Are You Willing to Give Up for a Bowl of Soup?”

I remember talking with one of my nieces who was trying to make a major decision concerning an organization she really wanted to become a part of. She knew joining could affect her future, but she acknowledged that her initial feeling was that she didn't want to think about the future, she just wants to have fun right now. I chuckled because I can totally relate. I've had many similar internal dialogues. I recall murmuring and complaining about some things that I thought I had to have now, and that I couldn't live without. I felt like I couldn't wait any longer. Then I heard it clearly, “What Are You Willing to Give Up for a Bowl of Soup?” One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home from the wilderness exhausted and hungry. Esau said to Jacob, “I'm starved! Give me some of that red stew!” (This is how Esau got his other name, Edom, which means “red.”) “All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.” “Look, I'm dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?” But Jacob said, “First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So, Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left. He showed contempt for his rights as the firstborn (Genesis 25:29-34 NLT).NEVER MAKE A MAJOR LIFE DECISION BASED ON TEMPORARY DISCOMFORT!Have you ever felt like you needed something or someone so desperately that you would die if you didn't get it/them; you know, that person or thing that you would give anything to have right now? Are you willing to compromise to get it? Are you willing to give up something that should be cherished to get it, i.e., dignity, self-respect, integrity, relationship with God? Do you feel like you have no other choice but to disobey God to get it? If so, you know firsthand what it feels like to consider selling your birthright for a bowl of soup. Yes, I said birthright; see, we have to remember that it became our birthright once we accepted Christ and became born again Believers and joint-heirs with Christ. So, we don't have to worry that we won't get that which God has in store for us, it's already ours; we just have to be patient, obey (walk upright), and trust God for His timing. Every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). No good thing will He withhold from us if we walk upright (Psalm 84:11). The truth is, Esau probably would not have actually died if he didn't eat right then, but he was only focused on that moment. He didn't take into consideration the future he was giving up. He was so concerned with instant gratification that he forfeited his destiny. This should serve as a wakeup call for us. Let us remember that our birthright is not just for us; it's for our families and loved ones, our children our descendants. It's kind of a Big Deal, so let's not discount it or take it for granted and hand it over to the “deceiver” just because we can't see the Big Picture right now.  Remember, we are lured away by our own lusts (James 1:14); so sometimes all the enemy has to do is dangle it in front of us like a carrot in front of a rabbit, and we won't stop until we get it, no matter the cost .If you feel weary, like you can't do it; be encouraged. Remember, Jesus was tempted too.  We thank God that Jesus didn't give in; because He resisted temptation, we all have a right to an Abundant life! Matthew 4:1-11 NLTThe next time you feel like you won't make it if you don't get what you want when you want it, before you do something that could cause you to risk aborting the purpose and destiny for yourself and your lineage, ask yourself, “What Are You Willing to Give Up for a Bowl of Soup?”Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

"To Obey or Not to Obey - Is it Really a Question?"

Play Episode Play 40 sec Highlight Listen Later Aug 15, 2021 9:18

I have three questions: Whose life will be saved as a result of your obedience? Who will suffer longer than they have to as result of your delayed obedience? Whose life will be lost/destroyed as a result of your disobedience?Take some time and really give these questions some serious thought.I remember over 17 years ago, in the beginning of my Christian walk, my brother and two of his friends were giving me a ride to work one morning; and I felt this really strong urge to pray. I kept ignoring it the entire car ride. When we reached our destination, it felt as if I could not move. I could not get out of the car – until I prayed. So, reluctantly, I prayed for their protection and covering. Of course, as I suspected, when I said I needed to pray, they had smirks and cynical remarks, but nevertheless, I was obedient. Fast forward to around 2am that night/early the next morning, I get a call from my brother and I hear all this commotion in the background and I can't really tell if he's crying or laughing. He eventually is able to compose himself enough to tell me they had just been hit head on by a drunk driver and their car flipped five times. Miraculously, NONE OF THEM WERE INJURED! NOT EVEN ONE SCRATCH! My brother then told me one of his friends, who was in the car when I prayed, immediately screamed, “I AM SO GLAD YOUR SISTER PRAYED OVER US THIS MORNING!”Talk about an In Your Face Wake Up Call!!!Since that night, I told God that even though I didn't understand “why me,” if He leads me to pray then I will pray. It's not always easy and if I'm being honest, sometimes I don't want to do it for fear of rejection, or how people may view me, or question if this is really God. But, when I think about all the times I obeyed and people were blessed, healed, lives saved; I put my fears and inhibitions aside and I obey because I don't want anyone to suffer, or worse as a direct result of my disobedience. Nope! But, there was a time I was on a Girls' Weekend Getaway and I believe I missed it. I saw a young lady being almost dragged through the hotel lobby by a man; and she looked like a possible sex trafficking victim to me. But, the person I was with was so unbothered and focused on what she wanted to eat – she wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to gather my thoughts – and she totally dismissed it, saying she was staying out of it. I walked away not sure what to do. I said a prayer for the young woman when I got to my room, but was that enough? Was I supposed to say something to her? Was I supposed to bring attention to the situation? I will never know. Could her life have possibly been lost as a result of my disobedience?Somewhere along this journey, I developed this saying, “Obedience IS a Sacrifice.” I know scripture says obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22), but I believe it IS a sacrifice as well. When we decide to obey God, we sacrifice our will for His. We sacrifice doing it our way for doing it His way. But, the alternative is more important than our temporal discomfort or inconvenience; especially if it can save someone's life – naturally or spiritually.I've tried delayed obedience and total disobedience. It doesn't work! Just ask Jonah. Ask Adam and Eve. As we read about their stories in the Bible, our disobedience doesn't only affect us. It affects those around us and possibly those coming behind us. So, it is imperative that we obey – even when it doesn't feel good – even when we are temporarily inconvenienced. We Must Obey God!Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

There is a remnant of people who have been standing on the Promises of God for what may seem like an eternity. If we are honest, we've had moments of doubt, fear, anxiety, frustration – wondering IF/WHEN God is going to do it. I was thinking about some things I have before God in prayer; and in prayer I remind Him of His Promises (because He told us to). Funny enough, afterwards, during my quiet time, I heard the song “Promises” by Christopher Williams in my head – just out of nowhere – and I began to chuckle. My response: “Okay God, I hear you.”I need to encourage you and remind you to stand firm on the Promises of God – in spite of what it looks like! Remember, it is written: We walk by faith not by sight. It is written: Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So, even though we don't see it YET, the Promises of God are still true. He does not lie. Promises:My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalms 37:4When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Isaiah 54:17For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 2 Corinthians 1:20Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

If we are honest, many of us have faced disappointment, sorrow, grief, hurt, pain, rejection, trauma, etc. - in which we chose to deal with it by trying to anesthetize the pain. Whether we used drugs, alcohol, sex, food, people, or church to anesthetize it – to give us that temporal relief to avoid dealing with the pain. But once the anesthesia wears off, the pain comes back. If we don't deal with it, the pain is still there. If you've had any type of surgical procedure, there's the anesthesia – the procedure is done - you wake up in recovery, still under anesthesia – but eventually the anesthesia wears off; and sometimes the pain is more excruciating after the procedure than it was before you went in. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). We need to deal with the pain from the root. It is going to be painful but that's the only way we can really heal; because we can't go through life continually anesthetizing. We may have to confront ourselves or others. We may have to acknowledge some things we don't like about ourselves. It may be painful, but it is necessary. We thank God for the Anesthetists He sends to administer temporal relief - be it in the form of prayer, a kind word, encouragement, or a warm embrace; but ultimately, we need to be healed. God is the Great Physician. He can heal us – pain removed permanently – complete healing - no longer medicating symptoms - no more Anesthetizing. He is the Master Physician. Trust Him. You will not die on the table. God will heal you - making you whole - complete lacking nothing. Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Simultaneously, I wondered, If I Would Have Listened to the enemy, myself, or others, would I be where I am today? If I Would Have Listened:~I would have believed that I was ugly.~I would have believed that I was a failure. ~I would not believe that I can run a business, successfully, for almost five years might I add.~I would not believe that I can write and publish books. ~I would have never believed that I would have an opportunity for roles in two movies.~I never would have believed that I had the ability to start a blog or a podcast.~I would have believed the lie that the sickness was unto death - and that God didn't want me to live. I am so glad I didn't listen! If so, my life could have been destroyed - full of destruction, despair and failure. And, even when I did listen, I didn't believe those lies - and I am glad about it. God wouldn't allow me to believe - He even sent others to encourage me.I wouldn't be here to encourage and empower others, if I would have listened to the lies.Take stock of all that God has Graced you with, in spite of you, in spite of the lies - and give Him Praise that you Didn't Listen to the lies spoken contrary to God's Word and His Promises concerning you.Praise Him that you didn't listen to the voices telling you to commit suicide.Praise Him that you refused to believe the enemy when he tried to convince you that you don't need God.ALWAYS Listen to the Voice of God. Ignore and refute all others. It is written: "The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice and come to him; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.  He walks ahead of them; and they follow him, for they recognize his voice. They won't follow a stranger but will run from him, for they don't recognize his voice (John 10:3-5 TLB).”Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Lately, I have felt this undeniable push to work a little harder - not just working towards, but accomplishing my goals and fulfilling my purpose. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older, or if it's confirmation that my time is NOW, but I don't want to miss it. There's this passion arising inside of me that removes all fear and takes the limits off. I've said “I can do the impossible,” but now I actually feel it and believe it and I'm going for it! I have nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain! Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1There are countless times in the Bible where people were living normal lives, perfecting their skills and no one knew them. Then suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, God called them out to do a Great Work. They were the solution to the world's problem at that time. Even those who didn't think/believe they were ready, were equipped when their appointed time arrived. They didn't have to get prepared, they were ready for their NOW; so are YOU! You may not truly know it until you do it, so just do it!~David was delivering lunch when his NOW came, but he was ready.~Gideon was hiding on the threshing floor when his NOW came, but he went on to do Great and Mighty exploits.~Mary was living the life of a normal teenage girl when her NOW came, but she accepted her call and gave birth to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.~Esther experienced her NOW when she risked her life that her people might be saved. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14Our time is NOW! It's time to stop watching everyone else do it; let's get busy! I have noticed that a lot of times, we don't have as much compassion for people who are struggling in a particular area where we have no struggle, or have overcome the struggle. In our finite minds, we think, “You should've been out of that by now. Why are you still struggling with that?” Because they haven't come out of their situation yet, we assume they don't want it bad enough, or that they are lazy. We overlook their efforts simply because they aren't where We think they should be by now.Once I found myself in that place of “But While I Am Coming,” I gained a better understanding. This is that place in your life where you are doing the best you can, according to your ability.  To those on the outside looking in, it looks like you aren't really applying yourself; but thank God that HE is not like us. Instead of assuming you don't want it bad enough, He sees even your smallest efforts and He comes and brings you to your expected end. Don't give up on yourself! God is going to do a new thing (Isaiah 43:19)!In today's society, many people, including some Believers, have this “I'm going for mine, you get your own” mentality. But, what about the scripture, “When you are strengthened go back and restore your brothers (Luke 22:32)?” Just like the man mentioned in John 5, where were all the other people who stepped in the water before him every other time the Angel troubled it and who were healed? No one felt compelled to come back and help him; to help someone who is in the same place they were once in?  Do you feel helpless?God is saving the best for last. Eyes have not seen ears have not heard neither has it entered into the heart of man all the great things the Lord has in store for you (1 Corinthians 2:9)! He is going to bless you like He has blessed no other! It's a setup! No man will be able to get the Glory for what He is going to do for you. There's no way He's going to let the same people who counted you out, and talked about you, and told you that you don't want it bad enough, take the credit for the way He is going to blow your mind. Notice, that because Jesus showed up, this man didn't even need to get into the pool to receive his healing; but he was immediately made whole. See, you are special to God, so He can't bless you the same as everyone else. No, your Blessing is Divinely designed, tailor-made just for you.  He has seen your faith; when others were being blessed all around you, you didn't give up, you kept the faith. If you have been waiting and it seems like you can't catch a break, like everyone else is being blessed except you, no matter how hard you try, then this word is for you: The Lord has seen your season of “But While I Am Coming,” and today I Am has come to bless you indeed! As we reflect on the Ultimate Sacrifice that Christ made for us, let us remember that He died, not just for us; He died for WHOSOEVER believeth in Him. This includes the people you don't think deserve it, the people you dislike, the people who dislike you, the murderers, the rapists, the terrorists, the racists, the robber, the prostitute, the pimp, the drug dealer, the woman who had an abortion, the father who abandoned his family, and etc. Think about it: While Christ was being crucified, He prayed for forgiveness for those who oppressed Him (Luke 23:34).For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).So often, especially Believers, we tend to overlook or omit that one word, WHOSOEVER. We place ourselves in the seat of Judge over other people's faults; and we fool ourselves into thinking that because we condemn them that God too will condemn them, but it's not so. It is God's desire that NONE should perish. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).Let's remember that Jesus died for WHOSOEVER; and for this reason, let us follow His example and ask God to help us to forgive the unforgivable, to love the unlovable. Let us pray for the repentance of those who have fallen from Grace; because they too are included in the WHOSOEVER for whom Christ gave His life.Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Their only hope to get in the game is if one of the starting players needs to rest or gets injured.Do you feel like you are always the second choice, plan B, or the back-up plan? Does it seem as if the only time you get noticed or called upon is when the first choice is not available? Do you find yourself wondering if you will ever be good enough to be the first pick? Do you see yourself as Anointed but not yet Appointed? You are not alone; there are many people who are considered the Substitutes.Substitutes at work, at church, in business opportunities, in dating and relationships, in friendships, in families, and etc.I too have found myself in the shadows or on the sidelines more times than I can count; but let me offer some hope: Some of my biggest opportunities came as a result of being the Substitute, in position and ready when the opportunity was presented.I know that you aren't jealous or covetous of those who are in the spotlight. If you are anything like me, you just want to get in the game, to be a part of a great work, to serve, even if no one notices. But Someone does notice: God notices. He notices your heart; He notices your integrity. He notices that you operate in the Spirit of Excellence for an Audience of One, the Lord Jesus Christ (even when no one else is looking); and this is exactly why He is the One Who will promote you from the Substitute on the sidelines to the star player in the spotlight; and it can happen suddenly; because He knows He can trust you.Don't despise the role of the Substitute; just keep your heart pure and don't become envious of those who are in the spotlight. Don't ever make the spotlight your goal; stay intentional about pleasing God and serving people; even once you are in the spotlight, remember why you were chosen to be there. Continue sharpening your gifts, stay humble, and don't get weary. In due season, God will exalt you.And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9).The work of the Lord must go forth! Perhaps they don't need what you have to offer. But there is someone who does. Don't focus so much on those who don't support and learn to focus more on the Why and the Who. Do What You Gotta Do.You have to know WHO you are called to and WHY you were called to do it. This should be your primary focus. Serve in the Spirit of Excellence. Don't get caught up in the masses – likes, comments, shares. Focus on your purpose – why you started. Also, know there are some people who are benefiting from what you offer, but you may never know it. They may never say anything to you. They may never comment, like or share; but they are being blessed. This is by no means telling you to settle. Don't settle, but don't lose sight. Focus on your who and why and the right people will come. Also, take advantage of this time of anonymity and allow your character to be fully developed, so that when the big break comes, and the big platform opportunities are presented, you will be ready. There will be no character flaws that could potentially prove to be a detriment to your success. Take advantage of this time and get those things worked out now.It is written: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him (James 1:5). Ask God to give you wisdom and show you what you should work on now to prepare you to seize the moment. I'm rooting for you! Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Have you ever thought about all the times God has covered you?I was recently speaking with a long-time friend who shared with me their gratefulness for our time of separation; because if it had not been for the separation, I may have been dragged down with them while their life was spiraling out of control. I thought about the times people were removed from my life and I thought it was rejection, but all the while God was strategically removing people from my life who would have been more of a detriment than anything else. For this I give God praise for His covering! He gives His angels charge over us to keep us in ALL our ways. In the times I strayed – the times that I insisted on doing it my way – even in the times of outright disobedience – He still had me covered (Psalm 91:11). For the longest time I have lived like Isaac when Abraham was leading him up the mountain; Isaac was carefree. He had no cares. That has been me for so long. I just trust that my Father has me covered and that He will supply - protection/provision – He has and will always provide. I am living proof of God's Covering! If you know that you're covered, I invite you to join me in giving God thanks and praise for covering us. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee (Psalm 91:7). You're covered!Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

As a Believer, there are many Promises that God has concerning us. The entire foundation upon which the That Settles It brand is built is according to the Promises of God; hence, "If God Said It Then That Settles It." So, I wholeheartedly believe and am living proof that in God "Something Is Promised." For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. ~2 Corinthians 1:20It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. ~Lamentations 3:22-23But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:19Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. ~Isaiah 41:10For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. ~Jeremiah 29:11 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. ~Psalm 37:4And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:7These few examples don't even scratch the surface of the many Promises of God. I could go on and on listing the Promises of God, so "Something Is Promised."While you are waiting on a Promise, encourage yourself by remembering those Promises that have already come to pass. Remember, we walk by faith and not by sight; so even during those times of doubt and despair, remind yourself: “Something Is Promised.”As Believers, we should never say “Nothing is Promised,” because in God there are many Promises. Remember, if God said it, then That settles It.

Have you ever tried to hold on to something that you should have gotten rid of a long time ago? You keep trying to convince yourself and others that even though you aren't using it right now, you may need it one day. But, everyone is telling you Let it Go!Sometimes when God is trying to give us a new thing, we risk delaying it or missing it because we are still trying to hold on to the old. Let it Go!For years I worked behind the scenes taking care of all of the logistics. I enjoyed it and God blessed me to execute in Excellence. I didn't need recognition, I just wanted it done right. But, I have been, I won't say pushed I will just say nudged, from behind the scenes to the forefront. Before I recognized what was happening, I kept fighting to remain in my comfortable place behind the scenes. Then, one day in prayer, as I was crying out to God asking why He was allowing me to be pushed out of that position, I heard Him clearly (in my spirit) say, “Let it Go. You have served well there and because of your faithfulness I am going to do a new thing in you and through you.” Immediately, I began reflecting on the many Promises of God that have been spoken over my life. I thought to myself “That's what this is! That's what this is! He told me He was going to use me mightily, so why am I surprised?”So often we think because we perform well and we are comfortable in a certain place, that surely this is where God has called us to stay. You may be in that place temporarily for training, sharpening of your gifts or God-given talent, to learn patience, or for the development of the Fruit of the Spirit in your life, which will lead to character development; but you are NOT meant to stay there. So, when the call comes, Let it Go!His lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord (Matthew 25:21).Your desire to work in the Spirit of Excellence behind the scenes, even when no one is looking and it seems no one notices, is what has made you a hand-picked candidate to be used by God. He is looking for those who have no desire to take His Glory, but who will point people to Him. You can't stay in your comfort zone. Perhaps you thought you were safe there and no one would notice you and call you out. Let it Go!There may be some who question your motives, but don't let it cause you to doubt. The reason you know your motives are pure is because if you are honest with yourself, the thing you are trying to hold on to, you've recently started to feel as if it wasn't as fulfilling anymore; but you are holding on to it because you want to remain faithful, and honor your commitment to the Lord. You haven't yet realized that you are growing weary because you are being called to the next level. The call to the next level is none of your doing, promotion comes from the Lord; this is your season, your time for promotion is now (Psalm 75:6-7)!You don't even think that you are qualified, and you can think of others who appear to be more qualified than you; and this is precisely why God desires to use you. You not being qualified is perfect, because those He calls He qualifies. You acknowledge that the only way you can do it is with the help of the Lord, and that's why you have been chosen. So, that cherished position behind the scenes, Let it Go! Your time is now! The King has extended you His Scepter. You have found favor in His sight, and He wants to put you on display for the world to see your good works and Glorify Him (Matthew 5:16).Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Your primary focus is getting close to God, at all costs (Psalm 65:4).You may have to go “undercover;” meaning who you are is no longer important; people don't need to know who you are, you want to get to know God; and you want to lead them to God (Matthew 16:24).You will be tested/tempted by those who don't believe you are worthy to get close to God, who believe you are a threat to their spotlight; even though your focus is on Him (Matthew 16:1, Mark 8:11).Many have gone before you, but were unsuccessful because they took their eyes off God and placed their eyes on the people/problems/situations surrounding them. But, there's a hunger and a thirst on the inside of you that only God can quench; and you won't stop until you get close to Him (Matthew 5:6).You are In So Deep that you now look, sound, and act like Christ; even those who once knew you, don't recognize you (1 John 2:6, John 3:30).Because you are now In Too Deep, you are promoted by God, not man.  (Psalm 75:6-7).People don't believe that you deserve to be promoted, especially not so quickly, so they will try to bring accusations against you, but God will defend you in the presence of your accusers. So, even when people try to bring up your past (even if it's true), God won't hear of it because you now have a new identity in Christ (John 8:1-11, 2 Corinthians 5:17).But, you must sacrifice too because you may have to separate from family and some friends and loved ones because they can't go where you are going (Luke 14:25-27).It is important that I reiterate that THIS WILL NOT BE EASY; and once you get In Too Deep, there is no turning back. You will get frustrated (emotional rollercoaster is an understatement); you will think you made a mistake; you will get angry; you will doubt; you will want to quit; but quitting is not an option. You are In Too Deep. Now, God is nudging you and compelling you to go deeper. “Many are called, but few are chosen.” You have been chosen, hand-picked by God Himself. THIS IS THE REWARDING PART (Matthew 22:14)!Many want to know how you could get In Too Deep, when others couldn't?  Simple: Because your focus was always on getting close to God, NOT position, prosperity, or people!  That's the secret - and even though you feel like giving up, there is something inside of you that will not let you stop now. Even though all hell is breaking loose, there is a small faint voice whispering, “You're almost there.” Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Oftentimes, we ask God for something, and because it doesn't come immediately, if we're not careful, we forget what we asked. Then when it shows up, we don't recognize it. Depending on what we're facing, many of us fall into one of the categories below:When things are going well – I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well (Psalms 139:14).During times of testing and trials – My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me… (Psalms 22:1)?MESSAGE: God does not change His mind! He's not fickle (we are). If He said it, then That Settles It! Don't just take my word for it… God addressed Mary as “Highly favored and blessed among women.” Even though I am sure she probably didn't feel that way at the time – trying to figure out how to tell people she is a virgin who will give birth to the Messiah (Luke 1:28).  Gideon, saw himself as “the least in his father's house,” yet God called him “Mighty man of valor.” He went on to defeat a massive army with only 300 men (Judges 6 & 7). Jesus told Peter “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Please note: That did not change, not even after Peter denied Him. Remember, Peter went on to preach at Pentecost and about 3,000 souls were saved that day (Matthew 16:18; Luke 22; Acts 2).And we dare not forget Jesus, whom God introduced to the world as “My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” – and we know what Jesus suffered after this; but we also know He Reigns (Read Matthew 3:17). What I want you to take away is: You are who God says you are – even when you don't feel like it – even when your situation doesn't look like it – Remember Your Name. And because I am a Realist – if you just can't seem to Remember Your Name, then Remember His Name:Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Perspective - a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view. This week I want to challenge your perspective. Many people want to experience happiness, but they don't know how. If you are anything like me, you may need to shift your perspective from a place of the “What about me” mentality at times, to a place of selflessness and focus more on blessing others. Learn to express your gratitude for the good things in your life. This will undoubtedly lead to times of happiness. Embracing those moments of happiness strengthens and encourages us. It helps to prepare us, and encourages us for when we do have to face difficult situations. Then, in times of tests and trials we have the strength and hope to encourage ourselves. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:37). We can choose and purpose in our hearts to experience more of those happy moments, where nothing else matters – even if we have to go look for it. YOU deserve happiness. Choose happiness, unapologetically. Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Have you ever received something, be it a new job, business opportunity, romantic relationship, friendship, etc. and you thought “This is the Best I've ever had;” only to lose it? Okay, so I'm not alone. I have been on this subject for a while and I can't seem to let it go; so, I am going to assume someone else, besides me, needs to be encouraged and reminded. Just because something is the Best we've ever had; it doesn't mean it is God's Best for us. Let me say it again for the people in the back: “Just because something is the Best we've ever had; it doesn't mean it is God's Best for us.” There have been several times recently that I found myself questioning God about something that I thought was The Best for me, only for it to not work out. Each time He kindly reminded me to trust Him and to continue to believe Him for His Best. I don't know about you, but when it is the best you've ever had, it's hard to think it can get any better; but God says it can. So, this is where out faith comes in. Will we still believe Him, even when we thought this was it, or will we settle for our best; forsaking His Best?I know I know; trust me I know. This is so hard because we haven't seen anything better. If you're like me, it took the faith we had just to believe for this (the Best we've ever had). So, I don't want to risk losing this in hopes of something better coming along – that might not come. And let's not overlook the Big White Elephant: If it took this long for this (the Best we've ever had), how much longer will it take to receive God's Best? Let's just be real. I KNOW I am not alone on this one.Scripture says: Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: (And the writer repeats himself) wait, I say, on the Lord (Psalm 27:14 KJV).The Passion Translation says it like this: Here's what I've learned through it all: Don't give up; don't be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you (Psalm 27:14)!Truth is, He is a Good father and He only wants us to have His Best for us, The Best of the Best. So, if we have to wait a little longer, we just have to trust Him that it will be well worth the wait. In the meantime, let's enjoy the wait. Let's not sit around pouting and sulking. Let's do what scripture says: Trust Him that it will be well worth the wait.  Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

I try to live a life balanced with both Education and Application.People today are at a great advantage because, thanks to modern technology, we have a wealth of knowledge right at our fingertips. If we want to know what something means, we can just Google it and one search will yield thousands of results to aide in our research. This is all great, but the problem arises when we think all it takes is to know something to be considered Subject Matter Experts;  but without Application, all we have is “head knowledge.”This is true for every area of our lives. We can have all the knowledge on what it takes to be a successful leader, but if we never apply those things we've learned, guess what? We will not become a successful leader. We can read all the peer journals and medical websites about proper dieting and weight loss, but until we put those things we've learned into action, we will not lose weight. We can read tons of scriptures and Christian books about loving others the right way, but unless we practice what we've read, it won't happen. If we are honest with ourselves, some of the most influential people we've learned/gleaned from are those who not only know it, but who also do it (or have done it).Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith (Hebrews 13:7 ESV).For Believers:If we are always quoting scripture and spouting clichés when others are sick, but when it hits us or our household, all they hear is murmuring about how sick we are and how we will never get better. If we are always telling others to have faith and believe God for prosperity, but they often hear us complaining about how broke we are; why would they want to serve this God we serve? They've heard us talk about what the Pastor said, and what we've learned, but they don't see us living this victorious life we claim is available for those who believe. We've tried to impress them with what we know (Education), but when the rubber meets the road, we don't practice what we preach (Application).I don't believe we can have one without the other. We've seen people who try Application without Education and they do what they've been told to do or what they've seen others do (not fully understanding why), and they often fail. Then there are the people who have the Education but no Application. These people know, but either they are too lazy and don't do what is required, or they just want everyone to know how smart or knowledgeable they are. They want to know solely for the sake of saying they know. The problem is, simply knowing isn't always enough. People want to know what worked for you and what didn't. Without Application, there is no experience from which others can draw.Let's endeavor to live a life of Balance. A life of Education and Application. Know it. Speak it. Do it. Model it. Remember, the world is watching.Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

I was driving in the car listening to K-Love and singing loud, proud, and wrong (as per my usual). I am pretty sure the words to the song were “Take this out of my hands;” but I was well into the song before I realized I was singing it wrong. I was singing, “Get Out Of My Head.” (Insert laughter).Fast forward to after the car ride; I was still laughing at myself for singing the wrong words, but I thought to myself: Actually, this is what we have to tell the enemy; those crazy thoughts that creep into our minds; worry; doubt; fear; and despair. We have to tell them, “Get Out Of My Head!” I know I know I know. This year just started; but unless we choose to change our perspective, we could easily make the mistake of thinking, or even worse, speaking that it's just a continuation of last year; or this year is starting off worse than last year. No! You MUST tell those negative thoughts ,“Get Out Of My Head!” Scripture says it like this: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). No matter what is going on around us, it is our responsibility not to let it get to us or into us. We have to protect our peace and sanity. This is where that whole walk by faith and not by sight thing comes into play (2 Corinthians 5:7). It is imperative that we protect our minds and our thoughts at all costs. We have to be mindful of what we watch; what we listen to; and what we mediate upon. So, what should we think? I'm glad you asked. Philippians 4:8 tells us: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. God has taken the guesswork out of it for us; so, tell those negative thoughts, “Get Out Of My Head!”Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Happy New Year!New Season – Season 2 – Episode 1We are in the Genesis of this new year, new decade. Everything is still fresh and new (Read Genesis 1).We're going to say chronologically, we are in our new Genesis; but what does that mean? We've already made our plans, prayed and written our vision - Now let's pursue it! As we create, and as we pursue our purpose and destiny, let's make sure that we do so in the Spirit of Excellence. Let's not cheat ourselves, nor the people who stand to benefit from what we have to offer. Let's pray and ask God for the Grace, Strength, and Endurance to do it in the Spirit of Excellence. We pray for God to anoint us afresh for each task set before us. We also want to make sure that whatever it is we create, that we steward it well. When we get to the point that we need help, let's make sure that we are selective in choosing the right people to help carry out our vision. This is so important because choosing the wrong people can be detrimental to your vision. The wrong people could destroy it; they may not have the same passion as you; or they could actually be a discouragement to you – and you don't want that. So, make sure you choose wisely. I believe the most important thing is to remember to rest. Even as God was creating the world and everything in it, He took time to rest. Rest is so important because you need to be rejuvenated, refilled, revitalized, replenished; you need virtue restored unto you. This helps to make sure your vision stays clear and you don't become overwhelmed and risk doing things out of fatigue and frustration; also, you don't want to rush or do things half-hearted.So, as we move through our Genesis, let's remember these four things:1.   Create2.   Steward properly3.   Choose the right help4.   RestRemember, if God said it, then That Settles It. Have a Wonderful, Prosperous, Healthy, and Successful New Year!

Unbreakable – not easily broken.I want you to close out this year and go into 2021 with this: You are Unbreakable. You are not easily broken. Make that your declaration. If you just reflect over this year (COVID-19 aside), the things that you endured, that you thought were going to take you out – yet you overcame and came out victorious - you are indeed Unbreakable and sometimes we just need that reminder. For those of you who are making New Year's resolutions, or goals or vision boards, this word needs to be visible for you to gaze upon it every day; so even in the midst of adversity, tests and trials, and difficult situations you can stop, even if you're in the middle of a crowd of people, and whisper to yourself “Unbreakable – I am not easily broken.”No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through {Christ Jesus} who loved us (Romans 8:37).You are Unbreakable. This has to be your declaration/affirmation/constant reminder.  Now here's the caveat: As we're going forth and we're wearing it like a banner that we're Unbreakable - stay away from broken people. Many broken people don't know they are broken. Either they don't accept/acknowledge it or they don't realize how broken they are. If you're not careful, they will project whatever insecurities or deficiencies they have on you; and they can end up breaking you, or at least trying. I don't believe that it's intentional because in their minds they believe they are setting boundaries; guarding their hearts; or protecting themselves. You've heard the saying about why it's hard to save a person who is drowning; because if you are not careful, they will pull you down too. That's what happens if you're not properly equipped to aid or help a broken person - they will undoubtedly break you, or at least try to break you. If you don't have the strength and endurance it's okay. That's a part of self-awareness. Acknowledge it, pray for them and pray that God will send someone who can help them. But don't – for any reason – at no cost – let them break you. Your declaration/affirmation/banner is “I am Unbreakable. I am Unstoppable.” This is not just for 2021, but for the rest of your life. Whenever you're faced with disappointments; difficult times; hard decisions; when it looks like you're not going to make it; when you feel like you want to give up; when it feels like this thing is going to take you out – you have to be Bold and Courageous and declare: “I Am Unbreakable! I am not easily broken!”  Your words have power. The power of life and death is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) – so speak life! Speak life into yourself. Speak victory over yourself - declaring that you are Unbreakable – and so shall it be. Those words will not return void. When you decree and declare and believe you are Unbreakable, then you shall be Unbreakable – not easily broken. Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.Have a Happy Prosperous Unbreakable New Year!

Take a bow, you made it! It's the end of another year and it's by the Mercies of God that we are still here. Now, whether you know it or not, people have been watching you, and your refusal to quit has encouraged them more than you could ever imagine. With that being said…This is the perfect time to Get Naked…Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne (Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT).This crowd of witnesses is not just the Patriarchs of old, but also the people you inspire on a daily basis, even if you don't recognize it. As you enter this new season, I'm challenging you to bare your soul; be open and honest about your tests and trials. It is not just your triumphs that will strengthen and encourage others, but it is also how you handle difficult situations and setbacks. Besides, it's time to get rid of that excess weight (sin, disobedience, rebellion, etc.) once and for all. So, as you let it go in preparation for the next level, why not bless others by exposing the enemy and sharing some of the knowledge you've gained from your pitfalls and shortcomings. Hopefully, your openness can prevent others from making the same mistakes. Paul said it like this:And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News (Philippians 1:12 NLT).Many of us have this erroneous belief that in order to inspire others, we must only allow them to see our good times, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. People are watching us and if we are not careful, our actions could cause them to become discouraged if we only allow them to see the victories. So, what happens is when they face difficult times they don't know how to deal with it and they feel like they're doing something wrong. If we are more transparent, even in the difficult times, it will encourage others and afford them an opportunity to see how to endure; and it can show them that it does not mean they are on the wrong track, but it could be a sign that they are on the right track.Undoubtedly, the most important reason to Get Naked is so that you can receive your Total Deliverance. God wants to make you complete and lacking nothing; but you must first admit that you need it, and allow God to do the work in you. It would be a shame to live a life pleasing before men, but still be disqualified by God…Besides, He already knows everything about you, so you might as well, “Bare it all.”Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable (Hebrews 4:13 NLT).But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (1 Corinthians 9:27).So, if you truly want to inspire people, Get Naked and show them how to endure even when facing unfavorable situations. Follow Jesus' lead.  He wasn't worried about the shame because He was so focused on the Joy of the Cross; and you see where it got Him: seated in a place of honor at the right hand of God.Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It. When I first started driving, my parents had this old Pontiac Bonneville. It was white and long like a missile; like a spaceship. It did not go in reverse; you could only drive forward. But you know when you first start driving it's a sense of liberty and you don't really care what you drive as long as you drive. You would drive a tank or whatever you can get your hands on, whatever you can get behind the wheel of - you just want to drive. So, I begged my parents to let me drive it and they did. They warned me: This car doesn't go in reverse. What I soon learned was, wherever I was going I had to plan ahead. I had to plan accordingly; because I knew wherever I went, I had to be able to pull in and park in a way that when it was time to go, I could go forward - because there was no going backwards, because it didn't go in reverse…As I was thinking about this crazy story not too long ago, I had such a great revelation: “I'm Going To Be Just Like That Old Pontiac” - only going forward. My mindset, my plans, the way I execute is going to be in a manner as such. I'm only going forward. A lot of times when we face difficult times, hard trials, and difficult situations; what usually happens, if we're not careful, is we revert back to our old normal - to the familiar; to what is comfortable; to what is safe. But that is not what we should do. We have to press forward. That is where our faith comes in. Scripture tells us that “we walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).” Sometimes we may not be able to see that next step; but we have to continue to move forward - going back should not be an option, not ever. Just like with that old Pontiac - we could not go back - we could only go forward. This is how we need to plan our lives when we're setting goals; when we are making plans; and when we're making decisions. We need to do so with the mindset that: “I can only go forward. Going back is not an option. I am not going back. I'm only going forward. I cannot go back.” Scripture tells us “once we have been made free, be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).” Another scripture says “going back is like a dog going back to lick up his vomit (Proverbs 26:11).” Who wants to do that?! No, this is not the time to go back! We cannot go back to what was once familiar; to what was one comfortable. We have to be intentional about only going forward in every area of our lives. Our mindset has to be: “I'm Going To Be Just Like That Old Pontiac.” No going backwards – only forward. Remember, If God said it, then That Settles It.

    "Viability vs. Visibility"

Play Episode Play 51 sec Highlight Listen Later Dec 6, 2020 4:28

Viability - the ability to live, grow, and develop; the ability to work successfully; the ability to survive or live successfully. Visibility - the state of being visible (seen); capability of being readily noticed; the degree to which something has attracted general attention. In this day and age, so many people are working tirelessly for Visibility, but many don't have any Viability. We are working to be seen; we're working for likes and shares and comments; but, are you really building something? Is your work Viable? Are you working to build something that will last well beyond the likes and the shares and the comments? Let's work to do something that is Viable and not just try to be seen. Let's not just try to be Visible. Scripture tells us that “Men will see our good works and glorify God who is in Heaven (Matthew 5:16).” So, we want people to see our good works - not just our good posts; not just our good photos - but our good works. You want something that is going to be sustainable. You want something that is going to last well beyond your days here. Let's start building now. You want to leave an inheritance for your children and your children's children. You want to leave an inheritance for generations to come. So, what is it that you're building now? Are you just building a great social media following, with nothing that's really tangible; or do you want to build something that is Viable; something that will last; something that will bless people; something that will encourage people; something that will empower people; something that will last well beyond you; something that will precede you? No, we don't do it to bring glory and honor to our name - whatever we do, we should do it for an audience of one, the Lord Jesus Christ (I'm a firm believer in that). When scripture says: “Men will see your good works and glorify God (Matthew 5:16);” what if they don't know God? They may applaud you and they may glorify you; then it is up to you to point them to God; to give God the glory; to honor God for the strength, the ability, the wisdom, the creativity to be able to create and execute whatever that thing is that you're doing. We want to work to be Viable not just Visible. Many people are doing so many things to look busy, but my question is: “Are you productive? Are you producing anything? Are you yielding any real tangible results? Are you producing something that is going to last longer than the length or the duration of a Facebook story? Are you going to produce something that's going to last beyond 24-hours, the duration of an Instagram story? Are you producing something that is going to help people? Are you producing something that is going to educate and empower people? Are you producing something that will be here for generations to come? I challenge you, throughout the rest of your life: Whatever you put your hands to; whatever you set out to do - do it in the Spirit of Excellence; do it to the Glory of God. Build something that is going to be Viable and stop trying to just be Visible. This is what I believe: When you do it right; when you do it with the right motives; when you do it with the right intentions, it's going to be seen any way; it's going to be admired by many anyway. But, when you're doing it just to be Visible, what happens when they see it but they leave the same, they leave unchanged? You may have gotten a lot of likes and comments and shares, but who did you impact? That is the question… So, whatever it is that you're doing; whatever it is that you're planning to build, ask yourself: “Is this Viable, or am I just doing this to be Visible?” Make sure your motives are pure.Remember, If God said it, then That Settles It.

    "Brand Ambassador"

About two years ago, I was named Brand Ambassador for my Favorite bakery. It was kind of a Big Deal (to me). My friends laughed at me because they, and anyone who follows me on social media, know how much I Absolutely Love this bakery. I am always checking in (via Facebook and Instagram) at this bakery as I pick up my delectable treats. One of my Facebook friends even commented that they need to pay me for all the advertising I do for them.As I chuckled at myself and my “Newfound Fame,” I thought about how being a Brand Ambassador is not new to me.When you think about what a Brand Ambassador really is…A Brand Ambassador is a person who represents a brand in a positive light, and by doing so, helps increase brand awareness and sales. As a Believer, I am supposed to be an Ambassador for the Kingdom of God. So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:20 NLTI have been doing this for the Kingdom of God for about 16 years. I remember when I first received the free gift of salvation, I told everyone. I was excited about this God who saved me. I wanted everyone to come to Him and get to know Him. I wanted everyone to receive this free gift. No one had to pay me; no one had to tell me to do it. There was no incentive. It's something I believe in. That's a Brand Ambassador.I recently shared with a friend: Being a Brand Ambassador for me, has to be organic. I can't do it just for the sake of doing it. If I am going to be a Brand Ambassador for a person, product, or brand, it has to be something I believe in, something I have tried. For me that's the only way I will be able to truly sell it. As I continue to grow in faith and mature spiritually, I not only tell people about God and all the wonderful things He wants to do in their lives, but they are able to witness it in my life. They see me endeavoring to live a life that is pleasing to Him, and they see His unmerited favor all over my life. As I continue to strive to be the Best Brand Ambassador for His Kingdom, God is allowing others to see His many benefits. Now, my challenge to you this week is to ask yourself, “Am I a Good Brand Ambassador for the Kingdom of God?” Answer yourself honestly. Do your coworkers, family, and friends know that you are a Born-again Believer? Do they see your fruit (of the Spirit)? Is your life compelling people to come and ask, “What must I do to be saved?” If not, do something about it. Don't miss this: I am not telling you to live a life that is pleasing to men. I am reminding you to live the life God has called you to live. This is your reminder: You are a Brand Ambassador, and the world is watching you. Show them what they are missing. Let your life represent God in a positive light and help increase awareness of His Goodness, His Mercy, His Grace, and His lovingkindness towards us; thus, increasing souls being added to the Kingdom.Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

    "Sincerest Gratitude"

As we approach Thanksgiving, many of us will celebrate with whatever our version of Thanksgiving is for this year – whether with family, with only those in our household, or virtually. This year will probably look a little different, but one thing that has not changed, is we all have something for which we can be grateful. I have learned how to express my Sincerest Gratitude while living in, being present in, and enjoying the moment. I recently shared with someone, that “I am going to enjoy THIS moment. I am not worried or concerned about the “what if,” or the next moment – I am going to breathe in and embrace THIS moment. I am going to take it all in and enjoy THIS moment.” I have never seen a more grateful person than someone who knows they don't deserve whatever it is they received. Their joy, happiness and expression are unmatched. For me, one of the things I am so grateful for is Grace, God's Grace. It is sufficient and it endures forever. We deserved death hell and the grave. But, because of the Blood of Jesus and His sacrifice, we now have a right to the Tree of Life; we now have a right to life and life more abundantly. Grace is God's unmerited favor – we don't deserve it, we can't earn it, but yet He bestows it upon us. For that, I express my Sincerest Gratitude (daily). I am reminded of the story of the two criminals who were being crucified alongside Jesus…One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”~Luke 23:39-43 ESV Throughout this week and beyond, be intentional about expressing your Sincerest Gratitude; especially for those things you know you don't deserve, but God still chose to Grace you and Bless you with anyway. Give Thanks! Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It. Happy Thanksgiving!

    “Why Are Everyone's Brakes Squealing?”

Over 20 years ago, my good friend April and I were driving around in her aunt's Volvo station wagon and I said, “It seems like everywhere we go somebody's brakes are squealing. These people really need to get their brakes fixed!” My friend was laughing uncontrollably for about 10 minutes, until she was able to inform me that it wasn't everybody else's brakes squealing, IT WAS OURS! As I reflected upon that crazy story, I had a revelation and I thought about how that is true for many of us. How many of us are quick to point the finger at others when there is an issue or a problem? Without thinking about it, we are quick to blame others – it's never us.About two years ago, God started dealing with me, instructing me to be intentional about looking at myself first; asking those difficult questions: “Did I do something wrong? Could I have done something differently?” And not hastening to point the finger at others. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. ~Matthew 7:3-5 ESVI want to challenge you this week to be intentional about first assessing if, or how, you contributed to the problem; and not be in such a hurry to point the finger at others. I know there are times when we are faultless, I get it. But the goal is to condition ourselves to always be willing to do a self-assessment FIRST, and not be so quick to blame others. This also keeps us humble by reminding us not to be so proud or pious, thinking we are incapable of doing anything wrong. We are all human and we all err. Also, this is a great opportunity for us to extend grace to those who are at fault. Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.I'd love to hear from you. Share your feedback and experiences with me as you take this challenge of self-assessment FIRST this week.

    "Stop Running"

I remember when I was 16, my parents bought me a Ford Mustang. I had a part-time job and a little money in my savings account; I was living the life. My mother said something that I didn't like one night and that was the last straw! I had enough of her, so I decided that I was going to run away. As I look back, I marvel at the level of influence I had even at that age; because I managed to convince my older brother and cousin to push my car out of the driveway and down the street so that my parents wouldn't hear me start it up that night. I got in the car and made my boyfriend go with me. We were headed to New Jersey (at least we thought we were). My plan was to go live with my older cousin. There was one issue: I had only been driving for a short while and I was terrified to drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, especially at night. So, my cousin convinced me to stay at a hotel for the night and then, if I was still determined to leave in the morning, I could try to tackle that bridge during daylight. Early the next morning, my boyfriend called his house and my mother had already begun terrorizing everyone trying to find us. She threatened my boyfriend's family, saying that she was going to have him arrested. She was relentless in her pursuit to find her baby (ME). I was afraid at this point, because I knew that I would feel her wrath if I went home. Eventually, I gave in and spoke to her on the phone. Immediately, I could hear the fear and hurt in her voice. She cried and pleaded with me to just come home. My cousin got on the phone and yelled at me for being so selfish and spoiled and inconsiderate. I went home and my mother just held me, she hugged me, she kissed me, she cried, she begged me to never scare her like that again. This story reminds me so much of God and His love for us. He does everything to help us fulfill our purpose and destiny. We do so many things to hurt Him. We do things that we know are wrong. We have the audacity to get upset when He chastises us; we know it's for our good, but it doesn't feel good. We don't like it, so we run. It's time to Stop Running. For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. ~Hebrews 12:6And what about the people in our lives who, according to their ability, genuinely love and care for us? What about when they say or do something we don't like and we decide we want out? We become distant. We stop talking or texting. We, all of a sudden, become too busy and have no time for them. Thankfully, when we come to our senses and realize how immature and petty we are, they are right there waiting with open arms. It's time to Stop Running. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. ~Proverbs 27:6I share this because I know what it's like to take for granted those who love us, then to look up one day and they are no longer here. Let's Stop Running! Let's express our gratitude for every person who is a blessing in our lives, while they are still here.Remember, If God said it, then That Settles It.

My prayer for you is that your Creativity be Unlocked/Unblocked. We are created in the image and the likeness of the Ultimate Creator, God (Gen. 1:27). He created you; and me; and this world in which we live. If we are created in His image and likeness, then we have the same ability to create. If we can conceive it; if we can think it; we can create it. When we are children our creativity is flowing freely and we believe we can do anything. It's not until we face life circumstances, or we encounter people who speak and cause us to doubt, that our creativity may become blocked. That's when we begin to limit ourselves and cease to create, or even believe we can create. We need to assess our lives and make sure we are surrounded by like-minded people; people who are creative; people who believe that dreams are possible; people who will speak life to our dreams, and not kill them with words of doubt and disbelief. We need to dream again like we did when we were kids. Think like a child. Daydream as much as possible. Let go of the idea of perfection – that will come with practice, persistence, and improvement. The idea right now is to Unlock or Unblock Your Creativity. Dream Again and Create!Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

If you have a chance, you really should take some time and read about Jacob in the Bible (Genesis 25-35). Jacob was considered a deceiver (deceiving his own father early in his life). Later in his life he is seen wrestling with the Angel of God. His name was changed to Israel, and he spent the remainder of his life serving God. I began to ponder Jacob's life, and I came to this conclusion: He Loves Me! No matter what we have done, God still loves us and He is still our God. Isn't that wonderful? Just take a few moments and reflect back over your life. Think about all the bad, evil, mean, and cold-hearted things you have done. Think about the things for which you still haven't forgiven yourself. Think about the things that you hope no one ever finds out about you, or your past. Now think about this: In spite of ALL of that, He still loves you and He still wants to be your God! Doesn't this just give you so much hope and joy? I know my joy is refilled when I think about it. After all, I know ME, and I know what I've done (and so does He), yet He Still Loves Me. That's a great reason to Rejoice! Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you (Psalm 139:7-12 ESV).Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It. Be encouraged. No matter what you have done up to this very second, God still loves you. Ask for His forgiveness. Thank Him for His Grace. Repent and turn away from those things that you know are wrong. Forgive yourself, and walk in the “Newness of Life,” that He has promised us all.

Here! cried the vessel, I know I will do,Place me on Your table for all men to view.Look at me, called the goblet of crystal so clear,My transparency shows my contents so dear,Though fragile am I, I will serve You with pride,And I'm sure I'll be happy in Your house to abide. The Master came next to a vessel of wood,Polished and carved, it solidly stood. You may use me, dear Master, the wooden bowl said,But I'd rather You used me for fruit, not for bread! Then the Master looked down and saw a vessel of clay.Empty and broken it helplessly lay.No hope had the vessel that the Master might choose,To cleanse and make whole, to fill and to use.Ah! This is the vessel I've been hoping to find,I will mend and use it and make it all Mine.I need not the vessel with pride of its self;Nor the one who is narrow to sit on the shelf;Nor the one who is bigmouthed and shallow and loud;Nor one who displays his contents so proud; Not the one who thinks he can do all things just right; But this plain earthy vessel filled with My power and might. Then gently He lifted the vessel of clay.Mended and cleansed it and filled it that day.Spoke to it kindly. There's work you must do,Just pour out to others as I pour into you.By Beulah V. You MUST know your worth! You cannot let other people define it – that's your job – and it's very important. It is one of the most important jobs you will ever have. Some people will come into your life and try to make you into the person they want you to be – not for your betterment – but for their benefit. You will never be good enough for these people, no matter how hard you try; and that's not your issue, it's theirs. Tell those people “Don't Settle For Me.” Tell them, “I Choose Me,” and bid them adieu. It is written: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Rom. 8:28).” So, learn to walk away from every life experience asking yourself, “What can I learn from this; what is the takeaway? And grow from it. There are times when we will have to be flexible, especially if we think the relationship is worth it; but we should NEVER have to lose our identity just to please others.Surround yourself with people who will REAFFIRM what you already know about you. I have heard the phrase, “Looking for love in all the wrong places,” throughout most of my life – you probably have too. There are even songs about it; so, I think we get the idea about looking for love in all the wrong places. Now, I want to challenge your thinking and your expectations by provoking you to begin Looking for Love in All the Right Places. What does that look like? Here we go…Start by looking to God – for God is Love. It is imperative that we believe that God loves us, in spite of us and our imperfections. God's love is evident. If you believe, you can see it, sense it, and feel it all around you. Now, embrace it and believe that you are worthy of it.Next – the most important place to look for love in the earth is in YOU! Remember, God is love; and if he lives in You, then love is in you. You may have to do some digging and removing layers of hurt and distrust to see it, but trust me, it's there. We are taught from a young age to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, but the problem is many of us were never taught how to love ourselves…Use 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as a guide to love yourself.Be patient and kind to yourself. Don't hold grudges against yourself, forgive yourself. Stop keeping an account of all your wrongs.   Be loyal to yourself – no matter the cost. Always believe in yourself.Always expect the best of you.Always stand your ground in defending you.As you learn to properly love yourself, it emanates through you. Also, your love for yourself is a guide to teach others how to properly love you. Once you truly and authentically love yourself, you will begin to attract the right people and form synergistic relationships – only competing to outdo each other in love.Begin Looking for Love in All the Right Places. Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.
