Send us a textgirlllllll. this is a top i know none of you wanna talk about but we have to talk about it!the world is so heavily consumed with self to the point where it's beginning to literally seep into christian culture. but why? is this God's plan? and on a surface level, self-love is the very thing you should have as a human. surely that's a completely innocent, good thing that God would want you to have. well... it's more complex than that.in this episode, i'll be talking about...how thinking too heavily of 'self' can impact youidols and why putting yourself as an idol is the worst idea everwhy Jesus' love is better than our loveit's one of those topics where it sounds hard hitting and overwhelming, but when you truly know God's heart on it, i pray it takes the weight away.God wants the very best for you, and leaning on yourself to provide yourself the best simply isn't HIS BEST

This world of ours has little joy, real joy. Perhaps there exists some sort of superficial happiness, but transient and really unfulfilling, but little more.It seems that so much of our world is sad, hopeless in feeling, even hateful. Our world is angry, antagonistic, so very jealous and greedy, negative in so many ways.I wonder, are you afraid, feeling uncertain and insecure, perhaps even from time to time hateful and angry, untrusting, are you? I wonder sometimes, how much of the joy of Christianity, rejoicing in the relationship with Jesus Christ, in possession of a thankful heart, the promises of the Son of God have been lost as the wiles of the devil seem to permeate this world. The carpenter of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God, told us quite plainly that He came not only to forgive but to bring us who believe His JOY that our lives may be full, full of that joy. How tragic it would be if once we have met him, and believed in Him, that the joy of our relationship with Him should be tarnished, even eliminated by the ever-growing hateful things in this world. And more. REJOICE, said He, and even more:BE EXCEEDINGLY GLAD.Let gladness permeate your heart, your mind, your emotions, your attitude, your entire life. Be happy, no matter what. For not only are you forgiven but you are born again into a brand-new life of joy, happiness, and rejoicing! I wonder if you take time every day, EVERY DAY, to rejoice, rejoice in Him and for the life you should have now, and you will definitely have hereafter. Do you?The Apostle Paul tells us to give thanks, GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING, the good, the bad, the average, the day-to-day, IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS, thanks to God for His unspeakable gift. Do you? The strongest possession any Christian can have is a thankful heart. And our Lord says that we should love our enemies. Is there anything harder to do in this world than that? When someone identifies as an enemy, comes at you, does you wrong, hurts you or ones you love, is there anything harder than to love that person? But, the love we have for Jesus Christ never fails, transcends everything, is stronger than anything and it is always there, always. Our God is love and we his people should love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbor as ourselves, even if that neighbor is our enemy so says the scripture. That essential principle, that basic tenet of Christianity, that emotional command, is the hardest thing for any Christian to do, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, IT IS THE MOST REWARDING! We should never accept the wrong, but we should always love the wrongdoer, thus saith the Lord. To carry a grudge, to return hate with hate, to get even, to make a wrongdoer pay, works havoc on the believer, even more so than the evildoer. Be glad, be happy says our Lord when you are persecuted for His name's sake, when evil comes after good, and never forget, NEVER that ultimately:GREAT IS YOUR REWARD IN HEAVEN!Even, says HE, if you weep now, you will laugh sooner or later. YOU WILL LAUGH, you will be happy. Never forget that. You will laugh, you will be happy as David says in the Psalms, even as our Lord laughs at the wicked. Full belief in the love of God in Jesus Christ can do nothing but make one, the believer, be glad, rejoice, be happy and LAUGH!The smile, the facial smile, the real smile is a rarity today. The heavy heart makes for a sad face. The happy heart, the loving heart produces a cheerful face as Solomon tells us in Proverbs. Our Lord confirms that when he tells us that we should:BE OF GOOD CHEER!Life is short, so very short, and any hour of any day spent glum, sad, angry, jealous, or hateful is simply the waste of a part of THE DAY WHICH THE LORD HAS MADE! The spirit of the loving God is at the ready to help, to remind you of this part of your life which you are wasting. Be glad, says the spirit of the living God, and rejoice, and always remember, says the Lord:I AM COME THAT YOUR JOY MIGHT BE FULL!I AM COME THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY!And more. James tells us that the happy heart breaks out in singing, singing songs of love, praise, and joy. David confirms in the Psalms when he tells us to be glad and sing for joy. Even if you can't carry a tune, sing anyway. Sing songs of praise every day, let your heart sing, be cheerful, be glad, be happy, and never let any part of this sad world, this world hateful, angry, jealous, and itself without joy, bring you down. NEVER!When the rich man met the Lord Jesus Christ, He sold everything he had, and he did so with JOY. Nothing mattered to him but the joy he found in Jesus Christ. Never forget, my fellow Christians, that a cheerful heart is good medicine. It heals like nothing else, and also remember the wise words of Solomon in Proverbs that:A CRUSHED SPIRIT DRIES UP THE BONES!Avoid at all costs the dry bones of Ezekiel. Every day, even all day, you can live with the joy, the happiness, the rejoicing that our Lord provides, which is only a taste of that JOY TO COME!So, in everything give thanks. In the testings, the trials and tribulations, the sicknesses, the losses, the betrayals, the hateful, the persecution, give thanks, be grateful, for our Lord who never left the Apostle Paul when he suffered in the dungeon all alone, will never leave us. The key to claiming that promise, says the Apostle Paul, is to give thanks:GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING.And that is especially so when the trials, the tribulations, the persecutions, the hurt and the pain are the worst. When life is at its worst, our Lord is at HIS BEST.Now abides safe in Him, hope in Him, and the love because of Him. Never let go of a cheerful heart any hour of any day. That is what the Lord of the abundant life wants for YOU!

If you were to rate your prayer life today on a scale of 1-10…how would you rate yourself? Of course, there is no easy rating scale for our relationship with God, but prayer is one of those areas of our spiritual lives that men consistently find difficult. At the start of this fresh new year, when topics around spiritual disciplines are common conversation, this is a great time to evaluate our prayer habits and what they mean for our walk with God. In this month's podcast, we are excited to welcome Dr. Bill Thrasher! Bill is a graduate professor of Bible and Theology at Moody Theological Seminary and a frequent speaker for churches and retreats nationwide. His ministry interests include campus discipleship, singles ministry, and evangelism. He is the author of Believing God for His Best, A Journey to Victorious Praying, Principles of Christian Living from Romans 5-8, The Attributes of God in Pauline Theology, and Living the Life God Has Planned. Bill and his wife, Penny, live in the Chicago area and have three sons. His most recent book is entitled How to Resurrect a Dead Prayer Life. We all know that prayer is essential—it's the lifeblood of the Christian life. But most of us find prayer to be challenging. We easily get discouraged, disillusioned, and distracted. So, how can a man build and sustain a meaningful and valuable prayer life? Through this conversation, Dean and Dr. Thrasher cover such topics as: What does it mean to “pray in the Spirit”? How does the Holy Spirit motivate and encourage our prayer life? How can we identify and revive a “dead” prayer life? How can someone with a worried or frantic life begin to enjoy God's presence and peace? What does it mean to truly encounter God in prayer, and not just do it as a religious duty? What do you do when you don't know how to pray or what to pray for? How does God use our most challenging moments to actually defeat the Enemy in our lives? How can we turn our chronic temptations into moments of encounter and victory with God? Enjoy all this and more in this month's podcast!

Your DAMAGE does not DEFINE you. God put HIMSELF within YOU.  Romans 8:11 NIV And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Your DAMAGE does NOT define you. JESUS defines you!  THE LIE: The more BROKEN you are, the less VALUABLE you are.  2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. THE TRUTH: Your VALUE remains despite your PAIN!  Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 2 Samuel 9:1-4 NLV Then David said, “Is there anyone left of the family of Saul, to whom I may show kindness because of Jonathan?” 2 Now there was a servant in Saul's house whose name was Ziba. They called him to David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” And he said, “I am your servant.” 3 The king said, “Is there not still someone of the family of Saul to whom I may show the kindness of God?” And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who cannot walk because of his feet.” 4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?” Ziba answered the king, “See, he is in the family of Machir the son of Ammiel in Lo-debar.” 5 Then King David sent men to bring him from the family of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.  You can't allow your ISSUE to become your IDENTITY.  2 Samuel 4:4 GNT  Another descendant of Saul was Jonathan's son Mephibosheth, who was five years old when Saul and Jonathan were killed. When the news about their death came from the city of Jezreel, his nurse picked him up and fled; but she was in such a hurry that she dropped him, and he became crippled. It's OKAY to not be okay, but it's not okay to STAY that way.  1. ADMIT you're damaged. 2. God does His BEST work with DAMAGED people! 3. God wants to use your DAMAGE to REDEFINE your DESTINY! 2 Samuel 9:5-7 NLV 5 Then King David sent men to bring him from the family of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar. 6 Mephibosheth the son of Saul's son Jonathan came to David and fell on his face to the ground in respect. David said, “Mephibosheth.” And he answered, “Here is your servant!” 7 David said to him, “Do not be afraid. For I will be sure to show kindness to you because of your father Jonathan. I will return to you all the land of your grandfather Saul. And you will eat at my table always.” Isaiah 41:9-10 NIV 9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/coastalchurch/message

For too many years, I did all of the Christian disciplines: read the Bible, prayed, went to church and serve faithfully…but had no clue how to relate to God on an intimate level. I certainly didn't know about the role of the Holy Spirit in my life. I knew “about” God, but not as a loving Father!   One day, in 2006, I heard "a benediction” at the end of a bible radio show, and my ears and eyes were opened. It was 2 Corinthians 13:14 in the Message translation:  “The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.”    I realized I didn't know God in this way, yet I desired for a more meaningful relationship with Him. This began a journey of discovery for me, to understand how to relate to all three persons of the Godhead/Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.   In today's episode, I share a recent live teaching I did with my good friend, Chris Cree, of New CREEations Ministries, and we discuss some great insights and the importance of how God wants to relate to us. Key take-aways: •Grace & Truth came through Jesus Christ. We dive into the Greek meaning of “grace” and how understanding grace changes everything. •We must receive the love of Father God. Faith works through love and we must take time to get rooted and grounded in His love for us in order to love others well. (Ephesians 3:14-20) •What fellowship or communion with the Holy Spirit looks like. **** As my gift to you, I am offering a FREE workshop that will help you in your journey of knowing God more intimately and experiencing the life He desires you to live—His Best! I want to help you remove lies, receive Truth, and release who your were created to be—His representative here on earth! It's time to live in His fullness and thrive! Is fear holding you back from moving forward to pursue your dreams? I talk to women every day how express some type of fear in various ways. I want to help you recognize them so you can stop limiting yourself and move forward with courage and boldness. Today, I am going to discuss four main fears that prevent you from embracing change and then give you the antidote so you can succeed.    My heart's desire is to see people thriving and living in the fullness of God. I have been mentoring women for decades and seeing their lives transformed by discovering who and whose they are. Life is too short to not live it to the fullest. I am fired up now more than ever to empower Christian women to become who God has created them to be and live in His Best.   I am offering a FREE live workshop on September 7th at 8PM EST (7CST/6/MST/5PST) and I invite you to join me.  It's my gift to you to help you unlock the Real you and thrive personally, relationally and professionally. Click HERE https://loriksnyder.com/resources/free-workshop/   Fear is a bully, and for so many years it bossed me around. Once I recognized the root causes, I was able to move forward despite being fearful. Here are some thoughts about fear: Any time you are growing or pursuing your goals and dreams, fear will show up. With any type of success, there are risks involved, and fear will try to shut you down.  There is a difference between danger and fear. Danger is real…fear is a story we tell ourselves.  Four Fears That Keep You From Achieving Your Dreams: Fear of the unknown. Fear of man Fear of failure. Fear of success. Answer: Believe God's Perfect love for you. God is love. (1 John 4:8) “Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love's perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment  has not reached love's perfection.” 1 John 4:18 TPT   Focus on how much God is FOR you, leading you, helping you, with you. He will give you the courage to boldly move forward. He is for you, so who can be against you—except yourself. Stop self-sabotaging! It's time to start living boldly, with confidence that God is working in, through and for you!  Here are some other episodes to help you with overcoming fear: Listen to Episode 47 Four Keys To Embrace Change (Joshua 1) Ep. 40 God's Love For You Ep. 33 Conquer Fear With Truth  Make sure you are subscribed to this Created To Thrive Podcast. The 'fourth watch' last from 3:a.m. until 6:a.m. Night TIME is when God does SOME of His BEST work! When the lsraelites FACED the RED SEA, we read, 'All that night the Lord drove BACK the sea' (Exodus 14:21 NCV). During 'the middle WATCH ' of the night, Gideon DEFEATED the Midianites (Judges 7:19-24). Jesus rose from the dead before 'DAYBREAK' (Matthew 28:1). Matthew says: 'In the FOURTH WATCH of the NIGHT He came to THEM , walking on the sea. When the DISCIPLES saw Him... they were terrified... immediately Jesus spoke....' Take courage, it is l; do not be afraid" (Matthew 14:25-27NAS). NOTICE TWO IMPORTANT THINGS: 1) JESUS WAITED until the storm was at its WORST and they'd LOST all HOPE. That's because GOD dictates the TIMETABLE for our DELIVERANCE, and He's NEVER LATE. 2) THE DISCIPLES DIDN'T RECOGNISE HIM UNTIL HE REVEALED HIMSELF TO THEM. Often the answer you NEED is right beside you, but you don't recognise it until God reveals it to you. On another occasion, 'When... the crowd was pushing in...[Jesus] climbed into the boat that was Simon's.... put out... from the shore... [And] using the boat for a pulpit.... taught the crowd' (Luke 5:1-3 TM). In that MOMENT it would have been TEMPTING for Peter to feel IMPORTANT, THINKING the Master needed his BOAT. No, God doesn't need anything we have to accomplish His PURPOSES not our credentials, talent, or resources. So be humble. And don't PANIC! When Jesus came to the disciples that night He was 'WALKING ON THE sea.' God is on TOP of the SITUATION. Be at PEACE; He will do whatever it TAKES to reach and RESCUE you. Your problem is just a PLATFORM DISPLAY His POWER to act on your behalf! God's Servant Rev. Alfred Acheampong. Anchor Scripture: 'IN THE FOURTH WATCH.... HE CAME TO THEM.' (Matthew 14:25 NAS) Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, thank You for being there for me, my Saviour, refuge, comforter and deliverer. Amen Stay Blessed! YearOfSupernaturalProvision

Hey Beautiful woman, It's a BONUS Episode! Can you believe CHRISTMAS is here?? Some of us may be feeling rather hum-bug about it after the last 2 years but the reality is, Christmas is such a GIFT! Have you ever felt like all that you were doing was just enough to survive?Do you have a calling in your life that God wants to use you, but feel like after some time those opportunities will never happen and you just settle into being a faithful Christian?Does it feel like the calling has died?In episode 42, I am going to share with you about the Shunamite woman and Elisha and how God doesn't want you to settle for good, but to seek and hold onto what is His Best for your life. Our settling for good, isn't God's Best! 2 Kings 4:8-37 - Elisha and the Shunammite woman. Elisha Raises the Shunammite's SonGod's promise and His resurrected promiseGod can answer your prayer and even meet the needs that you don't take about, but know that you need. How many times has someone asked you “How are things?” or “How are you doing?” and you just say “I am good.” Even when you know that you are dealing with something, but don't want to share. Has someone asked you about a need and they were willing and able to help provide for that need; but you didn't want to share or say what you really needed?Down the road as time passes, the dream or promise may feel like it is dying or is dead, but God can resurrect that promise that He gave you in a prodigal child, a job, financial needs, overcoming an addiction and restoring a marriage that is facing divorce. To have a resurrection you have to die, usually to self. This is represented when we get baptized in that it represents the killing of the old man of flesh and resurrected in the new man in Christ. What dream or purpose has God given you that needs to be resurrected? There is a time that the children of Israel were given the promise of Canaan, but wandered in the wilderness for 40 years and many felt that the promise had died as many of them had died in the wilderness. Even once in the Promise Land there still had to fulfill the promise and God provided their every need.In Genesis, Joseph had his dreams and felt like they were dead when his brothers sold him. Then later when Potiphar had him thrown in prison. There was a time that he helped translate the dreams of the butler and baker that were in prison with him and he told the butler that when you are restored in position to Pharaoh to remember me. At this moment he was trying to fix it himself and not rely on God.Abraham and Sarah were given a promise of having a child. After waiting years they got to the point of having a child through Haggai, but that was not God's Best for them.In John Bevere's Book, “Good or God” he talks about what may be good and created by God isn't always God's best for us. He shares how when God created the Garden of Eden he told Adam and Eve that they could eat from every tree except from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God created it and it was a good thing, but it wasn't the best that God had for them.Back in episode 15 titled “In times of testing, Winners never Quit.” I shared how I felt that God was calling me to ministry and I thought that the way to do that was to get ordained through the denomination that we were in at that time. After the process, I walked away feeling defeated because I knew that it wasn't the direction God had for me and my family. It took time, but I learned that this was what I thought I needed to do, which is a good thing, but it wasn't God's best for me and the calling He has for me.2 kings 8:1 - 6EphesianThe Small Church Media PodcastThere are many podcasts for church media, but this one is for the small churches!Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify

That Settles It Podcast

Have you ever received something, be it a new job, business opportunity, romantic relationship, friendship, etc. and you thought “This is the Best I've ever had;” only to lose it? Okay, so I'm not alone. I have been on this subject for a while and I can't seem to let it go; so, I am going to assume someone else, besides me, needs to be encouraged and reminded. Just because something is the Best we've ever had; it doesn't mean it is God's Best for us. Let me say it again for the people in the back: “Just because something is the Best we've ever had; it doesn't mean it is God's Best for us.” There have been several times recently that I found myself questioning God about something that I thought was The Best for me, only for it to not work out. Each time He kindly reminded me to trust Him and to continue to believe Him for His Best. I don't know about you, but when it is the best you've ever had, it's hard to think it can get any better; but God says it can. So, this is where out faith comes in. Will we still believe Him, even when we thought this was it, or will we settle for our best; forsaking His Best?I know I know; trust me I know. This is so hard because we haven't seen anything better. If you're like me, it took the faith we had just to believe for this (the Best we've ever had). So, I don't want to risk losing this in hopes of something better coming along – that might not come. And let's not overlook the Big White Elephant: If it took this long for this (the Best we've ever had), how much longer will it take to receive God's Best? Let's just be real. I KNOW I am not alone on this one.Scripture says: Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: (And the writer repeats himself) wait, I say, on the Lord (Psalm 27:14 KJV).The Passion Translation says it like this: Here's what I've learned through it all: Don't give up; don't be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you (Psalm 27:14)!Truth is, He is a Good father and He only wants us to have His Best for us, The Best of the Best. So, if we have to wait a little longer, we just have to trust Him that it will be well worth the wait. In the meantime, let's enjoy the wait. Let's not sit around pouting and sulking. Let's do what scripture says: Trust Him that it will be well worth the wait.  Remember, if God said it, then That Settles It.

Not one word has failed of all His good promise which He promised through Moses His servant. (1 Kings ‭8:56‬)God's Hand is Not Shortened at ALL, that it cannot redeem your life and do a New Thing. I AM Omnipotent, ALL Powerful to deliver. Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert. (Isaiah‬ ‭50:2‬)‬ ‭Most Assuredly, God is doing a New Thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? God has the Power to make a way in your wilderness and flowing rivers in the desert of your Life. In this special episode, we chat with Kurt Morrow about the time he spent with Milt Hinton.  Milt's wife Mona asked Kurt if he would live in faculty housing with Milt.  Kurt shares some of these life-changing experiences with us today. More about Milt Hinton Milt “The Judge” Hinton was regarded as the Dean of jazz bass players. He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1910, and at the age of eleven moved to Chicago with his family. He began his musical education by taking private violin lessons, but while attending Chicago's Wendell Phillips High School and playing in a band sponsored by the Chicago Defender newspaper, he learned to play bass horn, tuba, cello, and eventually the bass violin. Like many aspiring Southside musicians of his generation, he was influenced by the legendary educator, Major N. Clark Smith. During the late 1920s and early 30s, Milt worked as a freelance musician in Chicago and performed with legendary jazz artists including Freddie Keppard, Zutty Singleton, Jabbo Smith, Erskine Tate, and Art Tatum. His first steady job was with a band led by Tiny Parham, followed by a stint with violinist Eddie South’s Orchestra. Milt’s earliest recording come from this era. In l936, Milt joined Cab Calloway and for fifteen years performed with Calloway and renowned sidemen such as Danny Barker, Chu Berry, Doc Cheatham, Cozy Cole, Dizzy Gillespie, Quentin Jackson, Illinois Jacquet, Jonah Jones, Ike Quebec, and Ben Webster. During this period he was also featured on numerous recordings accompanying Benny Carter, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Coleman Hawkins, Billie Holiday, Ethel Waters, and Teddy Wilson - to name just a few. Most of these sessions have become jazz classics. After leaving Calloway in the early 50s, Milt began working as a studio freelancer in New York City. For two decades he played on thousands of jazz and popular records. He also played on hundreds of jingles and film soundtracks and numerous radio and television programs. In addition, he made concert and festival appearances around the world and toured extensively with Louis Armstrong, Pearl Bailey, and Bing Crosby. Milt has played with virtually every jazz and popular artist from Ellington, Coltrane and the Marsalis Brothers to Streisand, Midler and McCartney. In the late 80s Chiaroscuro Records released Old Man Time , a double cd featuring Milt along with many life-long friends from the music world. Laughin' at Life, was released by Columbia Records in 1995 and Chiaroscuro recently released The Judge at His Best, a selection of his recordings on that label over three decades, and the Bassment Tapes, which features Milt performing with groups he assembled. Milt received honorary doctorates from William Paterson College, Skidmore College, Hamilton College, DePaul University, Trinity College, the Berklee College of Music, Fairfield University, and Baruch College of the City University of New York. He won the Eubie Award from the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Living Treasure Award from the Smithsonian Institution, and he was the first recipient of the Three Keys Award in Bern, Switzerland. In 1993, Milt was awarded the highly prestigious American Jazz Master Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, in 1996 he received a New York State Governor’s Arts Award, in March 1998 he was awarded the Artist Achievement Award by the Governor of Mississippi, and in 2000 his name was installed on ASCAP’s Wall of Fame. Milt began taking photographs of his friends in the l930s, and he has continued ever since. Over the years his collection has grown to more than 60,000 images. The work depicts an extensive range of jazz artists and popular performers in varied settings - on the road, in recording studios, at parties, and at home - over a period of six decades. In June 1981, he had his first one-person photographic exhibition in Philadelphia and since then he has had exhibits across the country and in Europe. In addition to being published in major periodicals, Milt’s photographs have appeared in documentary films including The Long Night of Lady Day (Billie Holiday), The Brute and the Beautiful (Ben Webster), and Listen Up (Quincy Jones). A Great Day in Harlem a 1994 documentary about Esquire’s photographic shoot of jazz legends in 1958, features numerous photographs by Milt as well as a home movie shot by his wife, Mona Hinton. In 1988, Bass Line: The Stories and Photographs of Milt Hinton, by Milt Hinton and David G. Berger was published by Temple University Press. It was selected Book of the Year by JazzTimes. In 1991, OverTime: The Jazz Photographs of Milt Hinton, was published by Pomegranate ArtBooks. In 1990, Milt's 80th year, WRTI-FM in Philadelphia produced a series of twenty eight short programs in which Milt chronicled his life. These were aired nationwide by more than one hundred fifty public radio stations and received a Gabriel Award as Best National Short Feature in 1990. In June 2000, a concert was held to pay tribute to Milt on the occasion of his 90th Birthday. Milt passed away six months later. In late 2002, Keeping Time: The Life, Music & Photographs of Milt Hinton, a one hour documentary film was completed. It was produced and directed by David G. Berger and Holly Maxson. It debuted at the London Film Festival, won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003, and has been shown at film festival both here and abroad. Milt and Mona Hinton were married for fifty-seven years and have a daughter Charlotte and granddaughter Inez who live in Atlanta. The Hintons’ life-long involvement in their Queens, New York community, their strong commitment to family, and their ongoing contribution to music and photography made them both role models and an inspiration to younger generations. So when we decided to do our Rushmore of Canadians, we knew we were out of our depths and needed an expert. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to convince Casey Corbin to join us as a guest judge. Righteousness is the foundation

Righteousness is paramount to receiving all of the benefits of God and His will for you. His perfect will for all humanity is Christ and being in Christ and experiencing His BEST. The paradox of receiving His righteousness is that it is probably the hardest thing to do, yet it is so simple as just to 'believe' it! The hardest, because it is the last thing the 'ego' wants to do is to submit to an authority greater than itself. The simplest because "you can if you will". I think the deception is that we cannot perceive ourselves in someone else's GOODNESS. We have a 'faulty' paradigm that has been formed by previous experiences mixed with self centeredness. This combination results in a hard heart that is incapable of perceiving God for who He really is and by the same token, the hard heart cannot experience goodness as a gift because of the blindness of pride.
