The world is hungry for truth. People might know the holidays of Christmas and Easter but not see the background and reasoning behind them. All kinds of people will come out to say they've been told certain things from God and what we need to figure out is if God didn't say it, then it's not true. God's word doesn't change. The truth will always be the truth. The battle today is not political, it's a battle between good and evil. They are lost in both parties and saved. Yet, the struggle is against good and bad. Isaiah 56:10-12 Paul made clear that there were dogs amongst them that would cause a Christian to stumble. We must beware of the dogs, the evil workers. We may not have them amongst the church itself but they are out there in the world trying their best to lead one astray. Some leaders in churches teach that all one must do is repeat a prayer to get into Heaven. These people want you to follow what they want you to do. The enemy wants to take down as many as it can. Isaiah was the first to refer to them as dogs. Ever had a dog or know of one that never barked? Beware of the person who doesn't warn another of the danger of sin. Are you barking, warning your loved ones of the impending danger of Hell? Beware of the preacher that will not preach on sin. Jesus warned and warned His children to wake up from their slumber. People in Noah's time went around telling others that Noah was a crazy man. Scoffers have gone around for years making fun of Jesus' return. When Jesus was on the cross they scoffed Him about His return and who He was. Beware, better safe than sorry, Jesus is coming back. Your time has an ending. You better be ready to meet Him. Your life is on record. If they looked at your life and said that all the Christians must die, would they come for you? Does your life live for Christ to the point that others can see it and know beyond a doubt that you are one? Would they come knocking on your door?

De kalder tiltaget “Better safe than slurry”. Programsponsor: Vestjyllands Andel, Farestalds Eliten

A better-safe-than-sorry theology is one that wants to do what is right and good. But, unfortunately, it also tends to portray God as being a God of technicalities, who punishes people for making honest procedural mistakes. Furthermore, these procedures are often not based on the explicit teaching of Scripture, but on certain assumptions that are […] The post Better Safe Than Sorry Theology appeared first on Radically Christian.

On this episode we catch yall up to speed on our lives, and we also discuss two events where it was better to be safe than sorry. Firstly, we talk about how soon-to-be NBA player, Bronny James had to be rushed off the court mid-game because of a gun scare. Why are people showing out at HS basketball games? Should Bronny walk around with security? We also discuss how NFL player, Xavien Howard knowingly gave someone an incurable STD and is now being sued. Jonathan, the person who works with me on providing the content I produce supporting small investors getting in, or growing their self storage business, suggested I consider writing something on security options for people building or rehabbing a facility. It always seems like a boring subject to me, but in every Bootcamp, he reminded me there are a lot of questions on it. He is right. I seem to be wanting to focus on the bigger picture, and participants want to be in the weeds asking specific questions, like about security options. So, let's discuss some security options and our relationship to them. The world is FINALLY starting to feel normal. And part of that "normal" is a return to travel. But when you haven't done something for a long time - for example, for two years during a global pandemic - it's easy to get out of practice and forget all those good travel habits you had that helped to keep you safe when you were venturing out around the world. With more people starting to make the trek to Las Vegas (and elsewhere around the globe), I thought it might be helpful to put together an episode all about travel safety & security. After all, nothing can wreck a vacation faster than being scammed, losing your passport or ending up sick or injured. And although some people may think I'm "fear mongering" here, I prefer to think of it as "worst-case scenario planning". I mean, it's better to have an umbrella and not need it than need one and not have it, right? There's a lot to unpack here, so I've created a downloadable copy of my notes for your own use and here's links to some of the resources I used to put together this episode: 25 Important Travel Safety Tips Everyone Should Know (Expert Vagabond) 21 Travel Safety Tips: How to Protect Yourself and Prevent Theft While Traveling (Practical Wanderlust) Travel Safety Tips - How To Have A Safe Vacation (The Planet D) __________________________________________________________________________ Jeff Does Vegas is an official Vegas.com affiliate! We've all grown up in a world that calls the U.S. Treasury the “Safe Haven asset.” Yet in reality, what Wall Street suggests is the safest place possible to put your money, is actually the biggest Ponzi scheme in the history of organized finance. And while the silver price can be quite volatile at times (although one could also say that a piece of silver hasn't changed for thousands of years, and it's really the dollar that's volatile), if you wanted to leave something behind for your children that you know would maintain or grow its value, could silver actually be far more of a safe haven than US dollars or treasuries? The Medcurity Podcast: Security | Compliance | Technology | Healthcare
What makes up a Business Continuity Plan, and why is it important? Our company president, Amanda Hepper, shares her expertise with us in this episode of Medcurity Live.
Why does the click-through rate on threatening headlines far exceed those that are more benign? Calling something a threat through a provocative headline or soundbite initiates a biological reaction that almost compels a person to find out more, but why is that? Multnomah County, OR Chief Operating Officer Marissa Madrigal (Masters 1605/1606 aka 1611) explores how the process of securitization (declaring something is an external threat) initiates a neurobiological process that often causes people to adopt a ‘better safe than sorry’ posture when deciding what actions to take in response to the perceived threat. Her research found evidence that this behavior is having an impact on homeland security-related decisions by creating a bias toward compulsive precautionary behavior rather than clear-minded cognitive reassessment and that our predictable behavior can be used against us.
Consumers today have a lot of choices. Whether in stores or online, people are inundated by an abundance of options for what to buy. At the same time, the products we consume seem to have more and more ingredients, additives, and chemicals in them that put our health at risk, and even their packaging could be harmful to us. How do consumers make sense of the choices they have to make to reduce their own and their family's exposure to everyday toxics? In her engaging and insightful new book, Better Safe Than Sorry: How Consumers Navigate Exposure to Everyday Toxics (University of California Press, 2018), sociologist Norah MacKendrick shows readers how today's regulatory environment in the United States came about, how so much of what we consume remains unregulated, and how environmental health groups, food retail stores, and consumers have adjusted to these realities. In an age of deregulation, when individuals are forced to take on an increasing amount of risk with decreasing support from societal institutions, MacKendrick argues that many consumers today are practicing what she calls “precautionary consumption,” or a pattern of “green” or non-toxic shopping to try to ward off the harms of conventional modern products. The burden of such an intensive, resource-consuming approach to shopping, however, falls disproportionately on women, who remain charged with the responsibility of caring for the household (shopping, cooking, cleaning), and especially mothers, who still do the lion's share of child raising. Furthermore, MacKendrick questions the ability of precautionary consumption to truly achieve environmental justice and equitable forms of widespread regulation, so that the burden for preventing exposure to everyday toxics doesn't fall on the individual, and especially not on the groups bearing excessive responsibility to do so (women, mothers) or receiving a disproportionate amount of the harm (the poor). Examining everyday toxics from a variety of angles, MacKendrick's book is an impressive analysis of how many of us shop today, why we do so, and what we can do to achieve greater equality. Richard E. Ocejo is associate professor of sociology at John Jay College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). He is the author of Masters of Craft: Old Jobs in the New Urban Economy (Princeton University Press, 2017), about the transformation of low-status occupations into cool, cultural taste-making jobs (cocktail bartenders, craft distillers, upscale men's barbers, and whole animal butchers), and of Upscaling Downtown: From Bowery Saloons to Cocktail Bars in New York City (Princeton University Press, 2014), about growth policies, nightlife, and conflict in gentrified neighborhoods. His work has appeared in such journals as City & Community, Poetics, Ethnography, and the European Journal of Cultural Studies. He is also the editor of Ethnography and the City: Readings on Doing Urban Fieldwork (Routledge, 2012), a co-Book Editor at City & Community, and serves on the editorial boards of the journals Metropolitics, Work and Occupations, and the Journal for Undergraduate Ethnography.
