In this episode, Jess and Alex are sharing all the magic, insights, and travel tips they brought back from a recent media event at Walt Disney World. From exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to exciting new ticket and resort updates, they're joined by Megan—Travel Mom Squad's Disney expert—to talk about how to make a Disney trip more affordable, less stressful, and extra special using points and miles. What's New at Disney World? Big Updates & Summer Deals During the media event, Jess and Alex sat in on a panel with Disney execs and Imagineers who revealed upcoming changes and summer promotions—like 50% off tickets for kids (ages 3–9) and free dining plans for guests booking resort packages. They also shared how Disney is working to simplify the experience, with improvements to the Lightning Lane system and new family-focused resort programming.  Why Staying On-Property Might Be the Best Deal One of the biggest takeaways? Staying at a Disney resort may cost less than you think—especially when you consider perks like free transportation, early park access, and even character visits right in the hotel. The team shares highlights from a private resort tour, including a peek at value resorts like Art of Animation (with family suites for six!), the moderate Coronado Springs, and the deluxe Boardwalk Inn. Megan also breaks down recent stays at the Swan and Dolphin, All-Star Music, and off-property Hyatts—and why she's team Disney all the way. Making Disney More Affordable with Points & Miles Jess, Alex, and Megan walk through the credit cards they recommend for offsetting the cost of Disney, including the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card for erasing ticket purchases and American Express® Gold Card for dining. They also explain how to book hotels using points for on-site stays.  Park Tips, Lightning Lanes & Planning Strategies From early-entry tips to the best times to ride Peter Pan (hint: before 9am), this episode is packed with practical Disney advice. Megan also shares how she used the Southwest® Companion Pass to cut flight costs and why her family skipped Lightning Lanes altogether on some trips.  Planning a Disney trip this summer? This episode is packed with what you really need to know—straight from the Travel Mom Squad's latest Disney adventure. Hit play or share it with a Disney-loving friend!

Wondering how to celebrate Valentine's Day at Walt Disney World? We share the top six ways to celebrate Valentine's Day in style, plus a look at new Disney Parks wedding options and the new Disney Weddings gowns for 2024.New Disney Wedding Style Options Disney Weddings has added EPCOT with Spaceship Earth as a backdrop to its list of locations for in-park weddings at Walt Disney World.  Disney noted that the offering includes enhanced unique lighting displays on Spaceship Earth, choreographed to music and changing color patterns. EPCOT is now available to book for Disney weddings taking place in January 2025 and beyond. In case you were wondering, Disney in-park weddings offer a lot of potential setups. Pricing will rise into the hundreds of thousands, starting with a standard $40,000 ceremony fee and going up from there. You must use Disney transportation and so on. Weddings take place two to three hours after park closing. Ever wondered why Magic Kingdom was closing early one day for no apparent reason? Weddings can involved extravagent seating and couches along Main Street. The reception in from of the castle with tables elegantly designed. An underlit dance floor in front of the castle. Arrive by a trip down Main Street in Cinderella's Carriage and so on. Disney Wedding Gowns 2024 And if you're mortgaging the house for a Disney Wedding, then you have to have a Disney Princess inspired gown from the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection, right? The 2024 line of Disney bridal gowns was just released and the gowns are, not surprisingly, stunning (and so is the photography being posted on social media by Disney). Sizes are available from 0 to 30 and gowns start at $1,799. Follow Disney Weddings on Instagram or Facebook if you want to see what all the buzz is about.  -- Top Six Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day in Style at Walt Disney World How to Surprise Your Special Someone with a Magical Valentine's at Disney WorldSpa Treatment for TwoIf you are a couple who loves spas (or even if your significant other loves them and you want to make it special), the Grand Floridian Spa at Walt Disney World is a great spa where you can relax and unwind together. To book a treatment you can call a Spa Co-ordinator at (407) 824-3039 for more information on their couples options and other spa services. Hot Air Balloon RideIf you find it romantic to think of experiencing the "World" from high in the sky, head over to Disney Springs where you can board the Aerophile hot air balloon. This is a fun hot air balloon ride that floats 400 feet above the ground, offering great views of Walt Disney World (and beyond) day and night. You likely won't have the balloon to yourself on this one (it holds 30 people in total), but if you time it right you can catch a flight at sunset or during the fireworks displays for a little extra burst of romance and Disney magic. Cost is currently $30.00 per person (DVC and AP discounts may be available).Disney Springs Shopping SpreeIf your Valentine loves to shop, then why not surprise them with a Disney shopping spree at Disney Springs?! Gift your Valentine a gift card (or cash--which might be better for non-Disney shops) and accompany them on a shopping spree tour of Disney Springs! This is a particularly great gift if you don't normally like to spend time shopping, making it extra thoughtful and something your Valentine will truly appreciate it. Plus you have the option of making a day of it with a hot air balloon ride, treats and a romantic dinner!Romantic Carriage RideIs there anything more romantic than a horse-drawn carriage ride? Horse-drawn carriage rides are offered through the wilderness trails of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and also at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. There aren't many things more romantic than snuggling up with your special someone in an old fashioned horse-drawn carriage through relaxing natural surroundings. The rides are approximately 25 minutes long and leave from Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness and Boatwright's Dining Hall at Port Orleans. Call Disney Reservations for more information: 407-939-7529.Romantic Dinner for TwoNo romantic Disney vacation together would be complete without at least one extra special dinner for two. While Disney World is known for its fun themed dining and character experiences, it is also home to some first-rate award-winning restaurants, many of which are ideal for a romantic dinner for two. You can choose from very formal experiences such as Victoria & Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, to more relaxed--yet very elegant--surroundings such as Citrico's right next door or Narcoossee's, nearby. Other great choices include Via Napoli, Takumi-Tei and Monsieur Paul at EPCOT or The Boathouse at Disney Springs. Pick your personal favorite, or even better, make a surprise choice if you know a particular restaurant they love or want to try. Whatever your tastes, there is a great romantic spot for you somewhere around Walt Disney World. Bicycle Built for TwoFinally, for some casual but thoughtful romantic fun, a bicycle built for two is a romantic notion that you can do in a very practical way at Walt Disney World with your Valentine. Rent a surrey bike at Disney's Boardwalk Inn (or several other places around Walt Disney World) and you can enjoy a cozy bike ride side-by-side with your special someone. Riding along the Disney Boardwalk and adjacent area at night amidst the lights and activity of the surrounding area is a particularly romantic experience. Plus, you can enjoy dinner, a drink, dessert or even a nightclub after the ride at The Boardwalk--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Today, Juliana Pónce shares the story of her ceremony at BoardWalk Inn's Croquet Lawn and reception at Atlantic Dance Hall. You'll hear how she and Nick saved money by choosing venues that need little decoration, renting silk bouquets, and forgoing transportation. This allowed them to incorporate one of their top priorities—Disney fireworks—in the form of a guest-pleasing EPCOT welcome party at UK Lochside, complete with a custom menu featuring dishes that honored the couple's Mexican heritage. This week, Jennifer Brown shares the story of her BoardWalk Inn Conference Center ceremony at the Marvin Gardens Room  and reception at the East Promenade Ballroom. One of Jennifer's top priorities was bringing to life her vision for a lavish Enchanted Forest wedding theme, and today she shares how she was able to do this for less than half the cost of Disney's quote by using outside vendors for everything from floral and décor to transportation and even entertainment. This included draping the entire ballroom; bringing in prop gates, a light-up dance floor, and large trees; and hiring a trio of outside actors to pose as uninvited guests and a faux wedding planner à la Franck from Father of the Bride. For anyone who loved the buffet-style all-you-care-to-enjoy dining experience at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground, you won't have that unlimited dessert bar anymore.Trail's End will be closing in April and converted into a quick service marketplace. No more table service at Trail's End Fort Wilderness.Disney's BoardWalk Inn Club Level Concierge Lounge is ClosingThe Concierge Lounge at Disney's BoardWalk Inn is closing for refurbishment on March 11 until at least the end of April. How this might affect you even if you hadn't booked Club Level there.Narcoossee's is Reopening at Disney's Grand Floridian on April 1After a seven-month closure, Narcoossee's is reopening with a new design concept of land and sea. Will the new enhancements mean for a better dining experience? We're hoping it will, but the signs are not all positive that Disney has addressed past issues at Narcoossee's. As far as the menu is concerned, it's not entirely new--which is disappointing, as the menu was a big issue. The Bisque is back, but with a new tableside presentation. There are also two new starters: the Beef and Ricotta Tortelloni (with brown butter, parsnip puree, and sultanta raisins) and the Ocean-inspired Charcuterie Board featuring ahi tuna pastrami, charred octopus, and house-made sausage from the sea.  For the main course, Chef Noah's signature dish is the Blackened Redfish. This is served with a crispy chorizo-sunchoke hash with hominy, Florida sweet corn, and red pepper rouille. Plant-based dishes include a Roasted Vegetable Paella featuring market vegetables, cannellini beans, and preserved artichoke finished with charred Meyer lemon. Land-based fare includes a new Dry-Aged Pork Ribeye Chop served with creamy goat cheese-potatoes and turnips with onion jam and a touch of fig jus.Chefs have kept Narcoossee's staples like the Plancha-seared Scallops with Parisian Gnocchi and Surf and Turf featuring filet mignon and butter-poached lobster tail. The dessert course kept their trademark Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert cherry sauce and Chantilly cream. New dessert items include The Berry Pavlova -- artfully crafted with Florida fresh berries and citrus delicately placed over meringue and yuzu crémeux and finished with a tableside pour of anglaise. And the Pineapple Bavarois (roasted-pineapple house-made blackberry-buttermilk ice cream). The wine list has been refreshed with pairings for each dish and the bar team has anew cocktail program, inspired by the Victorian era. Disney is touting a signature Empress Lime Gimlet, a modern twist on a classic gimlet with Empress Gin, Rockey's Botanical Liqueur, and cold-pressed lime. There are non-alcoholic cocktails as well.--San Fransokyo Square appears at Disney California Adventure Park in Summer 2023Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure park is transforming into San Fransokyo from Big Hero 6.  It's a fictional mash-up of San Francisco and Tokyo. The story goes that ss the tech industry began to emerge and the local fishing trade fell on hard times, entrepreneurs came together to reinvent the seaside canneries into a vibrant, multicultural district of neighborhood restaurants and local shops. An iconic landmark of the area will be the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge, which will span the tide pools linking San Fransokyo Square to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk. When the transformation is completed this summer, you'll find familiar favorites like soups in freshly baked bread bowls, plus many new Asian-inspired selections. The new Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería draws inspiration from its tri-cultural influences with signage in English, Japanese and Spanish. Outside will be a beer garden decorated with festoon lights and papel picado.--A New Theme Park and New Dates Added for Disney After Hours EventsEPCOT has been added to Disney After Hours starting on June 1 and the price does include ice cream novelties, popcorn and select beverages available at carts throughout the park. When Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park reopens this spring, H2O Glow After Hours will be back as of May 20.Disney's Hollywood Studios is adding more dates for Disney After Hours as well, starting May 3.Tickets are now on sale and the usual discounts for DVC members and annual passholders will apply.---The Villas at Disneyland Hotel Reveal First Look at Guest RoomsThe 12-story Villas at Disneyland® Hotel tower will open this September and Disney released a first look at the room themes. You'll find room themes including The Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty and The Princess and the Frog. The one- and two-bedroom villas feature Fantasia and Princess and the Frog themes. The multilevel three-bedroom Grand Villa is the showstopper. Foodie Guide to Disney Holiday Gingerbread Treats and Displays 2022If you've ever been to Disneyland or Walt Disney World during the holidays, you know that the sights and smells of Disney gingerbread displays are the true showstopper. So Disney pastry teams have been hard at work bringing gingerbread holiday traditions to life for 2022. Here is everything you need to know about Disney Christmas gingerbread for this holiday season. At Walt Disney WorldAs always there are multiple gingerbread displays to discover at Disney resort hotels. The biggest and most famous of all is the gingerbread house at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This life size gingerbread creation features clouds of cinnamon smoke puffing out of its chimney. The gingerbread for this storybook gingerbread house is made from a classic Austrian recipe. On the porches surrounding the house, you'll find an 85-pound chocolate Santa, nutcrackers, toy soldiers, and snowmen that have all been hand-painted by the Grand Floridian Bakery team. This year, for the 50th Anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World Resort, the gingerbread displays feature extra colors and accents inspired by the signature EARidescent look. And of course, in true Disney style, you can even get limited edition pins, mugs, holiday ornaments, and treats! Here's what you can buy at the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House: Freshly baked, homemade Gingerbread Mickeys and Shingles, Stollen Bread, Brownie Christmas Tree, and Chocolate Peppermint Bark House-made Gingerbread Ornaments and Gingerbread Houses New items include Gingerbread Latte Whoopie Pie and Hot Cocoa Bombs There are assorted Gingerbread Cookie Bags, Marshmallow Pops, and a Caramel Pecan Fudge Bar There are also gluten-friendly, plant-based, and no-sugar-added treats The Grand Floridian Combo Box features assorted fan favorite treats, including the Chocolate Mickey Ornament, which is exclusive to the Combo Box Shop for Grand Floridian Gingerbread Bakery shirts and more merchandise. At Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, a Life-sized Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and a Gingerbread Baby Zebra will appear (November 23). What Fresh Hell: Laughing in the Face of Motherhood | Parenting Tips From Funny Moms

Listeners have been discussing their trips to Disney World on the What Fresh Hell Facebook Group, and Jillian posed this question: "I'd love to hear a Disney episode: if you've been, if you are Disney people who go frequently, or are you a one and done type or a 'that's a hard no' type?" Good timing! Margaret recently took her family for their "one and done" trip to Disney World. The biggest takeaway? Save early and save often for your Disney trip. Disney is one of those places where the more you spend the better your experience... and also one of those places where just when you think you're finished spending money, it's time to spend more money! Margaret and her family invested in the Genie+ Pass which saved them lots of long wait times. The pass is great for skipping lines, but it activates at 7 a.m., so be ready to set your alarm for 6:30 and be poised with your finger over the app. (And to access your inner zen when it's overloaded and you can't get in!) Margaret worked with a Disney Travel Planner and stayed at the The Boardwalk Inn. Staying in a Disney property meant early access to the parks (great for getting on popular rides like "Rise of the Resistance" first thing in the morning) and was great because there were lots of activities for the kids. including a nightly outdoor movie showing. Overall Margaret highly recommends a Disney World vacation– as long as you keep in mind that as vacations go, it's not that relaxing. Using the Genie+ app means early wake ups every day, and there's so much walking. But even for a Disney skeptic like Margaret the week was hectic but magical... which means her family may not be "one and done" after all! Learn more about your ad choices.
