Laten we beginnen… Judge Mark T. Boonstra sits on the Michigan Court of Appeals, administering justice in all aspects of the law. When he became concerned about our country, he began researching our Founding Fathers and the principles that guided their lives. Contrary to secular myths, all 118 of those who signed the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation and United States Constitution believed the Christian faith must undergird our republic. His book, In Their Own Words, is an amazing resource which will help us return our country to what God intended it to be.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Who were the 118 signers of America’s founding documents? Who were the Founding Fathers and what did they believe, what was their motivation? How did they envision America? We are talking about it in this conversation with the Honorable Mark T. Boonstra. Judge Boonstra has researched the faith of all the signers and has assembled their words for you to read and discover the beliefs of those who founded our Nation. Be encouraged and challenged to hear the original intent of those who signed the Declaration of Independence on this 4th of July!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Growing up the child of missionary parents, Tina moved from the UK, to the Netherlands, to South Africa, and finally back to the UK. The transient nature of her childhood prevented Tina from feeling a sense of belonging and she often felt insulated from the outside world. To entertain herself, she played music with her family members and wrote her first song at age 11. She blossomed as a musician shortly after university when a friend's brother, a music producer, wanted to record her. Tina expected her songs to find their home in the church halls she was so familiar with, but she soon found herself performing the open mic circuit in and around London. After connecting with producer Trevor Michael, Tina found her musical voice and solidly established her sound. Tina is a master storyteller. Her songs run the gamut from the deeply painful experiences to the hope one can find in the simple things of life. Join Team Derringer (Laura, Paul, and Alton), as they explore the stories behind their five favorite Tina Boonstra songs, hear of Tina's early life, and discover the exciting projects that Tina has planned next. Marina Meijer maakte o.a.

Abstract: The neural control of walking requires the interaction between multiple sensory and motor systems. We assess brain-muscle networks during overground gait to assess the dynamic interactions between neural systems involved in gait control. Mobile electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) was recorded from 24 healthy young adults, 24 healthy older adults, and 21 individuals with Parkinson's Disease during overground walking. We estimated dynamic functional connectivity between bilateral sensorimotor cortices and eight leg muscles within a gait cycle. Using multivariate analysis, we extracted brain-muscle networks and investigated the inter-subject variability in the network activation patterns. We identified three orthogonal brain-muscle networks within a gait cycle: 1) a bilateral network that is left-right symmetric and mostly active during the double support phase, 2) a left-lateralised network that is activated during the left swing phase, 3) a right-lateralised network active during the right swing phase. These networks span a low-dimensional subspace in which neuromuscular gait dynamics unfold: the trajectories reveal that the networks are simultaneously co-expressed during the double support phase but with different networks dominating the initial and terminal double support phase. Assessing the inter-subject variability in trajectories, we found an age-related contraction of the trajectories corresponding to a general reduction in neuromuscular connectivity at older age and a selective enhancement of the bilateral network in participants with impaired tactile sensitivity of the foot. The three brain-muscle networks provide a parsimonious description of neuromuscular connectivity during overground walking. The inter-subject variability in low-dimensional trajectories is associated with age and somatosensory function. The selective increase of the bilateral network may reflect a compensation strategy to maintain mediolateral gait stability in response to impaired somatosensory information from the feet. Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2022.11.23.517774v1?rss=1 Authors: Nikolin, S., Martin, D., Loo, C., Boonstra, T. W. Abstract: Background: The effects of tDCS at the prefrontal cortex are often investigated using cognitive paradigms, particularly working memory tasks. However, the neural basis for the neuromodulatory cognitive effects of tDCS, including which subprocesses are affected by stimulation, is not completely understood. Aims: We investigated the effects of tDCS on working memory task-related spectral activity during and after tDCS to gain better insights into the neurophysiological changes associated with stimulation. Methods: We reanalysed data from 100 healthy participants grouped by allocation to receive either Sham (0 mA, 0.016 mA, and 0.034 mA) or Active (1 mA or 2 mA) stimulation during a 3-back task. Electroencephalography (EEG) data was used to analyse event-related spectral power in frequency bands associated with working memory performance. Results: Frontal theta event-related synchronisation (ERS) was significantly reduced post-tDCS in the active group. Participants receiving active tDCS had slower response times following tDCS compared to Sham, suggesting interference with practice effects associated with task repetition. Theta ERS was not significantly correlated with response times or accuracy. Conclusions: tDCS reduced frontal theta ERS post-stimulation, suggesting a selective disruption to working memory cognitive control and maintenance processes. These findings suggest that tDCS selectively affects specific subprocesses during working memory, which may explain heterogenous behavioural effects. Copy rights belong to original authors. The spaza shops, bakers and other retail outlets running their small business in townships have a heap of challenges. They close often to go and source products, carry cash and have no access to credit. Intrigued by these township markets, Jessica Boonstra, originally from the Netherlands, started her business, Yebo Fresh from her garage, delivering products to a local township. When Covid hit, she became “really entrepreneurial” and with “a bit of bluff” secured funding from the Scheinberg Fund to build infrastructure to distribute food parcels. Since then, Boonstra, with the help of her team, including sales and marketing director, Lerato Ramollo, has grown Yebo Fresh from a “playful young company” into a proper scale-up with R41.5 million in annual sales in the last financial year. Boonstra told BizNews, “People keep looking at a township as a place for charity, but maybe not so much for business, whereas it is actually the next frontier.” – Linda van Tilburg Learn more about your ad choices. This episode is a bit of a pivot from our normal stream of content, but oh so worth it. I believe it is essential to name and address the false narratives we let define and dictate our lives. In today's episode, I share a conversation with my friend Sarah Boonstra about the labels and messages that we have allowed to tack onto us, and have marked our stories. I believe there is freedom when we can name something out in the open, and invite God to tell us who we are and whose we are. Can you relate? If so, reach out and let us know your own story.
