Easy people and welcome back to the F24 Podcast, my name is David and as often as possible I have a creative come over to my studio in North Acton to talk about their lives and interactions with London, or whatever place they are from, culture and creativity. This addition to the F24 UK Culture Archive, that's what I'm referring to as now.. is Cappo who has been a top level lyricist since I first heard him and got into UK Hip Hop in 2001 thanks to Juse from Highbury. Capps lives in Nottingham and we wanted to get this conversation in so we did it on zoom, a dope couple of hours. Cappo dropped his first album in 2003, same year I opened the shop and the Zebra Traffic boys made sure it was in the stock at the shop the moment RareKind was co-signed by Brighton's Don, HP of the Lost Souls and he's been in rotation ever since. At the end of last year Ewan at RareKind Records in Brighton checked in and asked if I'd heard Cappo's latest album, I hadn't.. Ewan popped it in the post and couple days later I'm bouncing round my studio, feeling the energy and lyricism of one of my favourites latest offering to the UK Music.. Canon by Nottingham's Cappo and Kong the Artisan is at the top of albums of last year and is and will be hard to top this year and maybe years ahead also.. It's a beauty with, as per Cappo's skill, eloquent lyricism which requires lyrical excavation to breakdown his rhymes. The album is honesty at the highest level, thought provoking and heart string pulling. I rang Ewan back after a week of listening and told him my thoughts.. he then proceeded to tell me what Cappo had also accomplished in recent years, he became a Doctor of Philosophy with a PHD in literature, music and contemporary culture and for those that listen to this archive, podcast, know full well that is right up my street. There is nothing I love better than someone coming through this amazing culture we found as kids and young adults and it assist in them finding their true self. Not to say Cappo or me as Dasr our not our true selves, of course they are but as we get older and realise how hard this living life is, the more I find the comfort of being yourself, Paul, David, you lot, it is beneficial to understanding and letting your self be, just be. No cloak, no alias, proudly standing up with the culture on your back stating I am me.. This conversation is amazing, like all of them, but Capps is the man, so nuanced, so thoughtful, so considered… This is some of Dr.Paul Stephen Adey's, culture and creativity story, enjoy, this is F24.
Will artificial intelligence shape the future of Christian discipleship, ministry, and outreach? Chase Capo, leader in AI relationship development for Glue, joins Dr. James Spencer on Thinking Christian to explore how faith-based AI is offering a powerful alternative to mainstream models like ChatGPT.

as we're in the run up to that trade fair to end all trade fairs, South By Southwest, I've been made aware that some artists are boycotting the event due to SXSW's ties to Ray Of Today. While fully respecting the right of any performers, established or not, to make their own decisions, it's hard for me to understand the depth of animus toward Mr. Cappo. I mean, last time i checked yoga seemed universally popular. Sure, raw foodism isn't for everyone but it's not as though healthy eating is a prerequisite for enjoying the music of Youth Of Today or Shelter (contrary to popular belief, no one ever had a kebab knocked out of their hands at a Youth Of Today show, though that might have more to do with no one serving or selling kebabs at the venue). Everyone has to do what they believe is right but this seems a little hysterical, and you won't find a bigger critic of SXSW than me (save for Victor Wembanyama whose Austin showcase is scheduled for the day EVERYONE GOES HOME, WTF) (UPDATE : OK, it seems this has nothing to do with Ray Of Today and it's all about RAYTHEON's presence at SXSW. Which is a different matter entirely. Please ignore the post above, though I do think there's a lot to be said for exploring raw foodism)

Do you feel confused or undecided when hearing talk about AI, ChatGPT, and other technological advances? Our guest today is Raghunath who has so much wisdom to share. He is a long-time yogi, spiritual teacher, musician, podcaster, and co-founder of Supersoul School and Farm. A teen in search of meaning, Ray Cappo fled his suburban Connecticut enclave for New York City — and found community among the misfits of Manhattan's Lower East Side. He fell in love with punk rock, so he started a band, Youth of Today, and a record label. Success soon followed. By the late 1980's, his bandhad thousands of fans, cementing Ray as a leading voice and trendsetter at the bullseye of hardcore culture. At the age of 22, he experienced a spiritual awakening and traveled to India to become a monk. After 6 and a half years, he began another successful band. 20 years ago, Nathalie and Raghunath met while they both worked at YogaWorks in Los Angeles. He never planned to become a teacher, but was always fascinated by spiritual openness. After moving to L.A., he realized he didn't want to be a musician anymore, but yoga was a passion of his. He was asked to sub as a teacher, and his teaching journey began from there. After all this time, what does yoga mean for Raghunath? In the past, he was always interested in alternative lifestyles and clean living, but he never approached yoga as a specific way to “fix” one thing. It was always a search for spirituality. Now, yoga isn't the whole meal, rather it is the condiment for larger feasts of the soul. We are spiritual beings that have a soul. The goal of yoga is knowledge of the Self. Who are you underneath your ego self? Underneath all the trappings of the false self, who is the true you? The body is a gift, but it is not all we are. All aspects of yourself need to be nurtured. In this episode, we learn from the yogi, popular musician and former monk - Raghunath Cappo. Cappo achieved success early in his life, leading a punk rock band, Youth of Today, which championed the ideals of vegetarianism, clean living and self-control, to a reach of thousands of fans. Eventually, Cappo went on a spiritual journey to India, becoming a monk in Vrindavan for more than six years. Diving deeper into his spiritual practice of yoga, kirtan music, meditation and scriptural teachings, Cappo now leads his own yoga teacher training programs, guides in kirtan studies and continues to make music. In 2020, Cappo and Kaustubha Das launched their own podcast, Wisdom of the Sages, currently available on streaming platforms! Cappo speaks with us candidly and transparently about his own mental struggles during his life journey, what bhakti or devotion means to him and how he sees his art and actions as a means for spiritual growth. From the meaning of true love to punk rock to the Bhagavad Gita to pandemic struggles, Cappo navigates us through it all. But at the core, he guides us through his own life mantra at every moment - his Philosophy of Now! Let's listen, learn and introspect together.
The Vital Veda Podcast: Ayurveda | Holistic Health | Cosmic and Natural Law
In this episode of the Vital Veda Podcast we have a very special guest, Raghunath (Ray) Cappo, who has a wonderful life-story & absolutely profound teachings to share. A hardcore punk rockstar-turned-monk-turned-teacher of all things Vedic.Raghunath achieved great fame & prominence within the punk-rock scene in the 80s, and yet decided to give it all up and wholeheartedly dive into a purely spiritual path. For 6 and a half years he became a celibate monk of the Hare Krishna Bhakti-Vedanta tradition and now dedicates himself to teaching & enlightening others with the powerful knowledge he attained during his wonderful lifetime. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:
What a pleasure it was having Raghunath on the show - SO insightful. He has the ability to really simplify the complicated. Here is the story, from Raghunath: I've been on such a spiritual quest in this life! From my teens I started a punk/hardcore band called Youth of Today, which championed the principles of clean living, vegetarian diet, and self-control. By the time I was 21, my band had tens of thousands of fans around the world. I was shocked. I started Revelation Records, an indy record label with my high school buddy and signed 20 bands with a similar beliefs and ethics. As exciting as this was, there was a growing void in my heart I knew only Spirit could fill. I got into spirituality, metaphysics, and mysticism; eagerly consuming spiritual classics, my hunger only increased. This eventually manifested as strong desire to go deeper. I split and quit the band. Gave the label to my partner. The teachings of India drove me East and at age 22, I ended up on an ashram floor in the holy village of Vrindavan. That was 1988 — and one of the best choices I made in my life.India before cell phones and satellite TV, what to speak of the internet, was an exotic land. I got to refine and dive deep into my yoga practice, my study of sacred literature and ritual, learn kirtan, cooking, mantra meditation and living simply with nothing except a few robes on my body. I was blessed with integrity-driven teachers who understood the essence of spiritual life. In 1991 I received the name Raghunath (formally Ray Cappo), representing initiation into lineage and a rebirth. I travelled to ashrams all over the world and the holy places of India, and I simply fell in love with the rich spiritual culture. I remained a monk in an ashram for six and a half years and now, many years later, teach how to incorporate everything I learned into everyday life. Basically how to get the spiritual high without leaving the world behind (or in some cases leaving it). Guess what? This stuff works whether you're a householder or a monk.Presently I'm the opposite of a monk. I'm married with 5 kids. I co-founded Supersoul Yoga and Farm with my wife, a school in the countryside in upstate NY, where I lead yoga teacher trainings. Every year I lead sold-out pilgrimages to my favorite cities & villages around India and share all that I know of these places that I love. In the mood of a pilgrim, I and teach others how to enter these sacred vortexes, that they may receive an unforgettable transcendent experience. Since 2016, every January I lead a game-changing training in India with an ever expanding curriculum. We started with a 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training which we've been refining to be a life changing experience. We teach the sweet culture of yoga which includes not just advanced yoga and pranayama, but sacred literature, kirtan study, Ayurveda for yoga teachers, Ayurvedic cooking, and yoga nidra. Last year we added an entire second training dedicated exclusively to the study of kirtan. Occasionally I get asked to do a reunion with my band which, when on stage, I realize is extension of everything I speak of today. I'm praying that I can give my students all the life-altering truths of the yoga system that I have learned from my gracious teachers.Forever Student is hosted by Stephan Muller and brought to you by the audiophiles at Dukkan Media.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
