In this episode, we speak with Carissa Hill, the business coach who created three independent extension businesses from home that run without her in her twenties. Since then, Carissa has built multiple successful businesses for her clients, and specializes in Facebook ads and boosted posts, in addition to helping beauty salon owners to set up their businesses. She is known for her expertise in using marketing strategies to scale businesses, having generated millions of dollars in revenue for her clients, other women in business. In this episode, Carissa shares her insights and strategies for using Facebook ads to grow your beauty business and reach new customers. Key Takeaways #1 Know your numbers Before launching a Facebook ad campaign, it's essential to have a clear understanding of your numbers as a woman in business. This includes knowing your customer lifetime value, profit margins, and advertising budget. By having this information, you can set realistic goals and create a campaign that is designed to generate a positive return on investment for your beauty business. #2 Test, test and test again! The key to a successful Facebook ad campaign is testing. This involves trying out different ad formats, audiences, and messaging to see what works best for your business. Carissa, using her expertise as a business coach, recommends testing multiple ad variations simultaneously and monitoring the results closely to determine which ones are performing the best. #3 Think beyond the sale While it's tempting to focus solely on sales, Carissa encourages businesses like beauty salons to think beyond the initial purchase. This includes creating retargeting campaigns to bring customers back to your website, offering upsells and cross-sells, and building a strong brand for your beauty business that customers want to return to. Timestamps 1:15 – 3:10 Carissa shares her background and journey into entrepreneurship, including how she stumbled upon Facebook ads and realized their potential to scale businesses. 3:30 – 6:17 Learn about the benefits of using Facebook ads, including the ability to target specific audiences and track results in real-time to help your beauty business perform optimally. 6:50 – 8:55 Carissa emphasizes the importance of knowing your numbers and setting realistic goals before launching a Facebook ad campaign for businesses e.g. a beauty salon. 9:30 – 12:40 Discover the power of testing in Facebook ads as a woman in business, including how to test different ad formats, audiences, and messaging to determine what works best for your beauty business. 13:20 – 15:10 Carissa shares her top tips for creating effective Facebook ad campaigns, including the importance of creating eye-catching visuals and writing compelling ad copy. 15:40 – 17:45 Learn how to create retargeting campaigns to bring customers back to your website, offer upsells and cross-sells, and build a strong brand that customers want to return to. 18:10 – 20:42 Carissa shares her final tips for using Facebook ads to scale your beauty business, including the importance of tracking your results and adjusting your strategy accordingly. Quotes People want new clients for a dopamine hit but a good business is all about customer retention. When you're writing the post, you have to get their attention in the first line, create some interest in the second paragraph, desire for the service, like based on the results and emotions and what it will do for you in the third section. And then action. You have to tell them what to do. Join the tribe at Carissa's Facebook Group. Did you know that Facebook marketing isn't just about running ads? While running Facebook ads provides the opportunity to reach a wide network of people, having more ads doesn't necessarily lead to more sales conversions. On top of that, it's difficult to get sales from a cold audience, especially an audience that is used to getting tons of sales pitches. This makes it important to develop an emotional connection with your target market first. In this episode, my friend, Carissa Hill, reveals the Facebook marketing strategy she uses to that effectively contributed to her business growth. She doesn't believe in running multiple ads, but prefers to have one ad running to grow her audience. Today, she explains to us the difference between Facebook marketing and Facebook advertising. Carissa also shares how she's been able to build a personal brand and how she leveraged that to grow her business. If you'd been having problems with your Facebook marketing strategy, then this episode is perfect for you! My guest today is Carissa Hill and we discuss finding the right platform by which you can radically grow your business. Carissa is a lifelong entrepreneur from Australia. Her first successful business was a spray tanning and hair extension business. She started it at age 21 and by the time she was 25 she had quite an impressive business. She grew the whole business using Facebook marketing and a basic html website. After building this business, she realized when she talked to people they wanted to know how she built her business so she started coaching. Then people wanted to know how she built the coaching business so now she teaches about that. Why Facebook to grow local business? When she started her business, Facebook didn't exist yet, she used MySpace! Carissa used it because she loved connecting with people. “I don't see it as a tool for business, but rather for connecting with like minded people.” She likes to use platforms that I actually like to use. I stick to what I enjoy using as do my ideal clients. Using a platform you don't enjoy will suck all the joy out of what you are doing. Golden nugget: enjoy what you are using and doing to grow your business. If you don't enjoy it find something that you do. How do you get started creating connections with potential ideal clients? It starts with being that real authentic person. You can't allow someone to form a connection with you if you are not being yourself. You can to show that you are a real person not just a business. A lot of businesses are afraid of showing that real side of who you are. There is something to be said about being an individual vs. business entity. People want to connect with people not businesses. Without personality, depth, emotion, it makes it hard for people to connect with your business. What type of content do you like to create? Why do you like that content? How do you create it? Not just the tools but also the thought process… I love live videos. I really love being able to connect with live videos. I have always used videos, but I love the live videos. It saves times, it forces me to be a little more vulnerable and authentic. It forces me to have a conversation with people in real time. It's more about having a conversation with people rather than just being on a video. The ability to go back to a video if you aren't in a place to watch it live. It's nice to be able to go back and watch it when you can. There is a FOMO element to live videos. Do you go live direct on your phone or computer? 3rd party software? Most of the time I use my iPhone or Mevo camera that live streams that makes it looked like an edited tv show but it's live. When interviewing people i tend to use Live TV. Check out the Mevo: https://getmevo.com/ When you work with our clients globally what is it that they are looking to accomplish? I specialize in rapid business growth. The majority of what people come to me for is help with Facebookadvertising. I help them with improving their online branding, understanding their audience, creating content their audience wants from them, and then help them with the copywriting and such to target their ideal clients. I do all my business through Facebook. I teach people to do what I do. Here's a Facebook ad, people comment on it, you have a conversation, and they either buy or don't buy. A lot of the time it's based around changing their mindset and way of thinking. Do you still work with local business or more online entrepreneurs? Work with both right now. In kind of a transition where I'm teaching more about how I built my Facebook and launching in it. Remember -- The audience is not just online entrepreneurs and I want to make sure that everyone in the audience sees the value of using Facebook to grow. There are so many ways of learning a business and so many business types. What are your best tactics for getting started having more content rich online presence on Facebook? Do you have top tips? Or starter tips for video content? I listen to questions people ask me and I will make a video answering those questions. Whether it's from my group or someone else's group. I can do a video or content post about this on my page. I'm helping people with what they want help with which leads to engagement. I'll even do a video on “what not to do” type of things when I see something I feel strongly about. Any other tips? Because it is putting you on camera, the energy that you put into it is important too. You have to have a little strategy for having intention with what you are putting out there. Positive energy is important. People will get what you put into it. What do you think is the tell tale sign of someone having a bad day on video? There's only ever been one or two I have deleted. It's been when I've been doing it for the sake of doing it. There isn't an intention or for entertainment I've just done it to say I've done it. You can feel it when you are open and honest with yourself. If you feel cringe-worthy when you watch it then you should probably delete it. How do you get so much done? Repurposing content is amazing! Mostly my support team does the communication sales chats. I do have a bot hooked up that sends them a link for my free ebook. Adds them to email list etc. I try to repurpose as much as possible. Archive 1 of Momentum for the Entrepreneurial Personality Type (EPT)
Today I’m chatting with Carissa Hill of Wolf Pack Mastermind, she’s so unique in the current entrepreneurial world and I’m so excited to catch up with her. In the past year, Carissa’s business has experienced crazy growth, she’s reached her seven-figure goal, but now what? Going forward Carissa wants to help women who are obsessed with business step out of the shadows and own their success. Carissa is a Huntress and you can be too!
Carissa Hill is a natural born entrepreneur who had her first successful business at the age of 21. Within 4 years, Carissa turned a home spray tanning business into a chain of 3 beauty salons with 9 staff and had her own range of wholesale hair extensions and mobile services around Brisbane Australia -- all without working in the business and exclusively focusing on growing it with Facebook marketing. Since 2014, Carissa has been helping thousands of entrepreneurs to master the art of successful Facebook marketing. She runs a successful Facebook group of over 16,000 members called "Coffee With Carissa" and is the founder of the Wolfpack Mastermind. Her current mission is to increase the percentage of female millionaires, after discovering that only 2% of female-owned businesses ever make it to 7 figures. Carissa is the bestselling author of the book "I Like Money - The Secrets To Actually Making Money With Facebook" and has been featured in publications such as Forbes, Inc, The Huffington Post, Entrepreneur Magazine, NBC tv, and Funnel Hackers Radio. She lives on top of Tamborine Mountain (and even owns her own rainforest) in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Australia with her husband Travis, her son Jayden, her toy Pomeranian, Pebbles and her black cat, Pepper. Today, I’m really excited to have her sit down with us and share some of the secrets to how she’s managed to grow her business in this really impressive amount of time. Born Entrepreneur “Being a business owner is a part of who I am,” Carissa says. In fact, she has always joked that she was a born entrepreneur who has been starting side hustles since she was in the womb. She may have started her first successful business at the age of 21, but she said she has been selling all sorts of things as far back as she can remember. She eventually fell out of love with that business and subsequently developed an interest in consulting instead. She then started her coaching business at the age of 28 and has since managed to grow it into a business that generates income in the seven-figure range -- all from the comforts of her home. The Path That Led to It Contrary to the stories of many successful entrepreneurs who managed to build their businesses through a mix of business acumen and sheer hard work, Carissa sheepishly admits that she owes part of her success to her laziness. Being the creative type who is always bursting with new ideas, Carissa said she has a tendency to either be really engrossed in or distracted from managing her business, so she hired someone who can bring more consistency to it. She then realized that the business thrived with the person she hired doing most of the legwork and her focusing on marketing the business on Facebook. She figured she could turn this into another business venture, and so she did. Venturing Into Coaching Looking back at it, Carissa said that venturing into coaching was “a natural kind of evolution” for her. She’s always been better at hatching ideas, building systems, and delegating tasks than implementing them, so that she later found herself treading this path came as no surprise. She initially started with making Youtube tutorials, sending out newsletters, and doing FaceBook Q&A’s (which she all did for free for a while) before eventually transitioning into full-on coaching. Now, her Facebook group, “Coffee with Carissa,” has over 16,000 members and contributes the bulk of her income. Expressing Gratitude Carissa said that she believes that you attract the things that you’re grateful for, so she “always remind myself to stay grateful for my team and clients because without them I won’t have a business.” Tips for Other Entrepreneurs If anything can be learned from Carissa’s experiences in growing her business, it’s to always trust your instincts, take time to listen to other people, and always have systems in place. She says don’t let your fears get the best of you. Prepare yourself for the worst-case scenario but always hope for the best. She also cautions people not to start a business with the pure intention to sell. Think of how you can provide real value to your customers instead and the earnings will naturally follow. It would also help to have a clear plan of where you want to take your business and how you want things done before you start thinking of expanding. Carissa says that there are many digital tools that can help you with just about anything from managing your schedule, to developing system manuals, and marketing your business through every platform imaginable, so make full use of them. Favorite Book Carissa credits Bob Burg’s “The Go-giver” for changing her perspectives on online businesses and, therefore, greatly recommends it. She’s also a big believer of following random interests wherever they might lead her, so she’s now currently reading books on palm reading. Resources If you want to know how to double your business and set it up to run without you, Carissa encourages you to take advantage of her free Wolfpack Mastermind training by going to her website, http://www.wolfpackmastermind.com/. She also gives away free eBooks, videos, and training on her personal website, https://carissahill.com.au/, so make sure you check it out. Additional Resource I promised Carissa that I will be sending her the title of this book that I really loved but can’t remember the title of during our conversation, but I want you to be able to check it out as well, so do try to add “The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row” by Anthony Ray Hinton on your reading list. Highly-recommended, including by Oprah herself.

Her Fearless Hustle | Stories from Entrepreneurial Women on Overcoming Self-sabotage
Are you willing to settle? To settle for not having success in your business? For not earning the level of income you desire? For not trying as hard as you could? Are you? I'm not. Its Tuesday, our day to dissect self-sabotage and get you on track to creating your impact. Carissa helps female entrepreneurs grow their businesses using Facebook. I think most people are trying to be too strategic about it where I have always been about trying to make it fun.” “I do really focus on building a sense of community and giving a lot of my value to my clients so that they want to stay and I find that really helps people to join and also it helps when anyone new inside the program inquires about my facebook group all of my current clients jump in and say “it’s amazing you have to join.” “I really focus a lot on making myself into a personal brand I think it’s really what helps a lot as well.” “One of my little secrets is that everytime I sell something, if I’m going to do a live video and make an offer, I actually have a little post-it note on my computer that says ‘Just trying to help’ and I find that always helps me focus on that more than just trying to sell something.” “I just add a lot of content when I’m selling something, like I just give heaps of value.” Links: FunnelHackerRadio.com FunnelHackerRadio.com/freetrial FunnelHackerRadio.com/dreamcar Coffee with Carissa www.Carissahill.com.au

4 Ways the Mompreneur Series Changed How I Approach My Business & My Daughter + Stories from You! This episode is concluding our Mompreneur Series! (Except for the BONUS episode with Denise Duffield-Thomas who will be my guest next week...mompreneur scheduling ;)). I'm so excited to share with you the 4 (+ 1 bonus) ways this series has directly impacted how I show up to my business and my daughter. And, the last half of the show features incredible mompreneur stories from your fellow Biz WomenRock community members! I promise you, you will be touched! 1. My life as a mom and my life as an entrepreneur are not separate. They are, in fact, two different elements of my life that are part of the whole. Just like my right arm and my left arm are two separate body parts, but still work in tandem with each other and are vital parts of my entire body. And this is not how I’ve been approaching mompreneurship. I’ve been so proud of the fact that I’m “100% present” when it’s mommy time and “100% present” when it’s business time. And while that’s a good practice to be present in the moments and most definitely time needs to be managed so I can put my energy into the two well, the overall life I lead does not separate these two things. So, my lesson has been to let these two bleed more into each other. To talk about business with Sedona around, to do some work even (gasp!) at times if I really need to, to chill the hell out when I’m at a business meeting with her and just have the conversations I can have...not to get all pissy because I “can’t be business woman and mommy at the same time.” This also allows Sedona to SEE her mommy work! This was a BIG, big lesson for me! 2. The pursuit of time management mastery is a necessary endeavor. Work/life balance is a myth, so I prefer to focus on time management - how am I proactively creating the schedule that best suits my life and what do I have in place to optimize every single minute of the day? The big lesson here is that there is no such thing as MASTERY of time management. What was incredibly clear was that every single woman I interviewed put a lot of time and effort into managing their time wisely. They had to in order to give attention to all the things they deem as important. However, things NEVER go 100% according to plan. And so they understood that time management was never going to be mastered. They did their best and then adjusted as needed. 3. Organizing one’s life is a must. And the tools and manner of organization are always evolving. During this series, I had a serious realization that my methods of organizing no longer work for me. After a few weeks of feeling in a cloud of chaos, I finally got a planner, a white board calendar and re-vamped the way I organize myself every day. Managing a toddler, a romantic relationship with my husband, general life “things” and a growing business requires serious organization! 4. Your mindset will determine the path you travel. One of my favorite moments of this series was when Carissa Hill talked about how she simply decided she was going to have a seriously high earning and fast growth business AND spend ample time with her 6 month old. She does tons of things to train her mind that anything is possible. This resonated with me SO MUCH because I’ve put a lot of time and effort into mindset work. That being said, I’m gonna be honest about the fact that I have moments when I want to scream at the universe about how flippin’ CHALLENGING this path actually is. Times when I feel like I’m doing it all on my own. Times when I want to work, but I’ve dedicated that day to Sedona. Times when I want BIG THINGS to happen in my business now, but I know I don’t have enough work hours to complete it during the week. Times when I want to just give up the hard push of growth in my business because I am loving mommying so much. And honestly, these were the things I expected to commiserate with my fellow mompreneurs about during this series. But when Carissa talked about this constant mindset work, I realized that yes, these experiences of mine can be true, but ultimately MY MIND IS THE ONE IN CHARGE OF WHERE I GO. Whether I enjoy this journey and get the most out of every single moment or whether I struggle. So my lesson was knowing that I don’t want this to be a struggle. And so my mindset olympics continues. BONUS: My daughter deserves the same kind of energy, planning and passion that my business gets! Maria Dismondy’s stories of how she organizes and plans out time with her kids was a huge eye opener for me. While I definitely do activities with Sedona during our mommy-daughter days and while I am absolutely proactive about what we do together, Maria’s descriptions of the cool stuff she does with her kids really opened my eyes to the disparity between the energy, focus and excitement with which I approach my business vs. time with my daughter. Sometimes it’s just easy to go on auto-pilot with Sedona or use our day as a “brain break” for me after going so hard in my business. But I realized that I can get just as excited and ready for fun stuff for me and Sedona to do that can take our time together to an entirely new level of fun, learning, growing and bonding. Since my interview with Maria, I’ve had two play dates with other mommies (I hadn’t had any this whole time!), created my own crafts corner, created a Summer Bucket List and have plans for baking cookies together soon. I think I officially fell in love with Carissa Hill during this interview. I had the pleasure of meeting Carissa at Podfest Multimedia Expo in February 2017 and I immediately knew that I had to know her and bring her to you. Carissa is a genius at using Facebook to significantly grow your business and she teaches her results-driven strategies to clients and students all around the world through her courses. And we’re not talking a small potatoes business here...she replaced her husband’s annual salary in one week during a course launch. Yeah. Super cool, right? At the time of this interview, Carissa is the mom of 6 month old Jayden and the reason why I’m so excited for you to listen to our conversation is because she has absolutely refused to believe that she needs to put her business on the back burner in order to be with her son. She embodies the mindset that she CAN have a thriving, super profitable business AND spend tons of time with her son. Yes, she talks about how she manages her time. And yes, she talks about how to best delegate so you can get more done (she actually has a few really impressive tips on how to do this!). But ultimately, the big takeaway from this episode is how to manifest the business life and mom life of your dreams and developing the MINDSET that makes it all possible!
