We start with two firm favourites. Frankie Froba- Love song in 32 bars and Teresa Brewer- Wang, Wang Blues. Then we go west- sort of! Bradley Kincaid with The Miners Song. Two cowboy songs. A traditional sentimental tale from Peg Morland with Cowboy Jack. Morland lost half a leg in an accident while working as a railway brakeman. A completely different cowboy from Leo Fuchs, a Yiddisha one. I love the flitting between English and Yiddish. I'm sure there are many 'in jokes' going on. The Sweet Boys give us two delightful pieces of nonsense. First- I give in so easily. Sang by Gale Ryan. Can find out nothing about her. Another familiar artist to F.S, Roberto Inglez. Born in Elgin Scotland as Robert Ingles. He led the Savoy Hotel Orchestra in the late 40s and early 50s but then left and moved to Chile. Where he continued in music career. We have Wedding Samba, Autumn Leaves and La Raspa. He lends his charming soft vocals to this last track. Two from the immensely entertaining Charlie Barnett. Big Maceo was a hugely influential blues pianist. He died young in the early 1950s. Two tracks from him and we will certainly be playing more in the future. We end, again, with western Swing and three great tracks from Jimmie Revard and his Oklahoma Playboys . A very popular Texan band in the mid, late 1930s.

Coach Pat Pecora took over as the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1976. The program was in its third year and Pecora was a 20-something wet-behind-the-ears college graduate looking to teach and coach. On February 7, Pitt-Johnstown defeated Mercyhurst 22-12, giving Pecora his 617th all-time dual meet victory, breaking the mark set by former Oregon State coach Dale Thomas. Since the win, Pecora’s added win No. 618 as the Mountain Cats head into the 2019-20 postseason. In the first part of this two-part interview with Coach Pat Pecora, college wrestling’s winningest coach in history, he’ll out line his origin story in the sport and the development of the UPJ program and coaching one of the sport’s greats, Carlton Haselrig. He’ll also talk about the old way of qualifying for the Division I tournament from Division II and Division III. 7in7 NCAA Kickoff PartyWe’d like to let our listeners know about an NCAA Kickoff Party called “7 in 7” that will be co-hosted by Trackwrestling and JROB Intensive Wrestling Camps on Wednesday, March 18 at The Barn at Cowboy Jack's in Downtown Minneapolis. Greg Anderson and Dan Seifring get their geek on with WrestleStat Several years ago, Greg Anderson was thinking about the Iowa wrestling lineup and wondered how to compare Thomas Gilman and Cory Clark. Then he put some stats to work, some automation and then got some help from Dan Seifring out in New Jersey. Almost five years later, WrestleStat is proving another computer resource for fans to compare teams, compare wrestlers and also provide an engine for fantasy wrestling leagues around the country. Several years ago, Greg Anderson was thinking about the Iowa wrestling lineup and wondered how to compare Thomas Gilman and Cory Clark. Then he put some stats to work, some automation and then got some help from Dan Seifring out in New Jersey. Almost five years later, WrestleStat is proving another computer resource for fans to compare teams, compare wrestlers and also provide an engine for fantasy wrestling leagues around the country. Anderson and Seifring talk about the meeting of the minds, where it's gone from its genesis and how it's expanded to Division II as well. Out in Barnesville, Minnesota, there's a large group of youth wrestlers. Coach Dan Cox is looking to try to solve the problem in getting kids quality mat time, while creating an enjoyable experience to keep the wrestlers in the system and prepare them for the high school program. On Episode 592 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, Cox talks bout how he developed the Northwoods Wrestling League and how it solves an issue with children who want to compete with their friends to get them on the mat and keep them on the mat. Rules involve modified dual meet scoring, allowed moves and disallowed moves that encourage learning. Competing for quality mat time is the key, as this is geared for the recreational wrestler, not the family who wants to jump right in and chase Tulsa titles. It's the silver-ish anniversary of Underemployed, and David and Jack have a special guest to celebrate the occasion, Julie Sawitzky! Julie makes her first appearance on the show as a guest (but NOT her first appearance ever), and she talks about her career, how she and Jack met (#PlatonicFriendJulie), she and David discuss their favorite alcohols, and her love of pop punk and baseball! The episode also has a sizeable amount of real talk, with all three talking about coping with anxiety, struggling socially, and accepting responsibility. In spite of the lack of Cowboy Jack, this is still a great episode!
The show starts the week off live from Cowboy Jack's the day of the NCAA Championship game, and Dave wants to put $250K down on Texas Tech, but he can't find the right spot to place the bet. MyBookie chirps him about it, which causes Dave to burn the entire company to the ground. Brandon Walker got caught in the crossfire, and ended up with a job at Barstool. All this and more on Barstool Radio,
It's March Madness time, and that means it's time for David and Jack to give their second annual Mascot Battle Bracket! Cougars, sledgehammers, butterflies, devils, gargoyles, Cowboy Jack, tornado birds, golden animals, they're all here as the two determine which mascot will win in the ultimate fight! Plus David gives his long awaited 2019 World Series preview after last year's scorching fuego Oakland A's prediction, as well as the introduction of the Kurtis Blow Bot 4100! Whether you like sports or hate 'em, this episode is for you!
David and Jack start off 2019 with their second guest episode, this time with David's former roommate Colin Mackey! David explains the origins of his friendship with Colin, complete with debauchery at Mary Washington and mistaken search warrants, with Jack explaining how his beloved alter ego Cowboy Jack played a role in meeting him. From there, they talk about a lot, including Colin's hilarious inability to grow facial hair, his results from the Keto Diet, men being primitive dumb-dumbs, Smash Mouth's album cuts, "Neil Diamond"'s views on immigrants, Jack's plea not to listen to the early episodes of this show, sleeping on beer/ADHD medicine, Wayne Rooney getting arrested and other soccer related things, Barry Bonds' and Lance Armstrong's testicles, Jack finally deleting his Twitter account, Reddit killing jokes, naming all of Staten Island after the Wu-Tang Clan, taking headphones into the bathroom, living in California, the word "chunky", Jack not liking chocolate, and so much more!
Cowboy Jack is back (and the regular version, too). An update on why I've been away so long and general upkeep before the piece starts about 18 minutes in. Hope you enjoy. And yes, I missed you too. For real. Very much so.
On this episode of Underemployed, David and Jack answer questions from you, the best fans in the podcast land! They touch on so many wonderful topics, including the best advice for growing a beard, their favorite songs to sing in the shower, Cowboy Jack, the incest on Game of Thrones, about a million Chappelle's Show references, best dates, PJ Anderson's general loathsomeness, ideal dinner party guests, Shaq, and much, much more! Also, Jack finally accepts that because "underemployed" is a standard word in the English language, the spelling of the show should reflect that.
A Cowboy Jack themed audio to cap off vanilla, because he's always just a little bit salty along with the sweet. Remember, there will be a special episode next week, over forty minutes long, vanilla, should be a lot of fun, gotten some great reviews on it already. If you want to hear it early and get my external appreciation, you can listen to it for five dollars (and get more) on Patreon.
See you on February 8th! I'll miss you, but only in spirit and even then only sometimes.
Wednesday night’s gathering of the Roots clan will be an opportunity to reflect on the life and legacy of Cowboy Jack Clement, the kindly and eccentric genius songwriter and producer who passed away in 2013. One of our guests, the songwriting entrepreneur Matt Urmy, was a great friend and protégé of Jack and arrives with an album Jack produced before his studio burned up in a bad fire. For a while, we explored the idea of a night formally paying tribute to Cowboy Jack but the right mix didn’t come together. That said, looking at this week’s lineup, with its variety and individuality, I feel sure Cowboy would have loved this week’s show. And I’m sure you will too.
