This week, I am delighted to welcome back Lyle Blackburn to the show to cover one the Lone Star state's most infamous cryptid cases. The Lake Worth Monster cases erupted in that hot summer of 1969 which left dozens of witnesses baffled, locals forming monster hunting posse's and a slew of strange characters claiming they were responsible. Lyle also discuss the curious case of the Cowman of Copalis Beach, an often overlooked Bigfoot encounter first uploaded on line way back in 1995! Lyle's book can be found here: Monstro Bizzarro can be found here: Thank you to Lyle as always for his conversation! Sue Kasper, it's a name you might know by memory but if you grew up PC gaming in the 90s you're definitely familiar with her work. Sue was the lead composer on SimFarm and the international sensation SimCity 2000! Both games were developed by Maxis, a studio known for producing simulation games since the 80s including SimCity, The Sims, Spore and many others. Sue's eclectic tunes have been ingrained in the hearts and minds of simulation game players the world over, and there's no doubt that her work on SimCity 2000 inspired a great many other composers trying to capture that iconic simulation game sound. She's a lifelong musician and guitarist that's been playing gigs in a number of bands around California since the 70s. While we weren't able to speak to Sue directly on mic, we had an excellent conversation with Michelle sitting in as proxy for Sue to answer our collective questions about her work on SimCity 2K and SimFarm. It was a ton of fun hearing her experiences rocking out, and her work with companies like Maxis, Guitar Player magazine, and Avid/Digidesign. Today, 2 unpublished and 2 published from Living In God's Rhyme.  Today my hope, my prayer is that it is God's words, not my words, and God's voice, not my voice that are heard.  May the power of God lift us up as we read and discuss today's poems. 8/11/19 A daily devotional I was given by a neighbor and I have been reading has led me to new understanding of what God has for us (me).  It has led me to a more thorough understanding of prayer, waiting and hope.  The book is Streams In The Desert, complied by L. B. Cowman.  My neighbor thought I would like it because of the poetry that is in some the devotions.  I'm sure there was another involved in this decision as every day since I started reading the devotions are exactly what I need. VICTORIOUS You are my King and my God, who decrees  victories for Jacob.  Through you we push  back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes.  (Psalm 84:4-5, NIV) A thousand and more years Overcoming our fears, Defeating our foe So onward we go. Love for His chosen ones, His daughters and sons, Through God's grace They find faith. Today, our foes still in sight, We have victory, through God's grace Over the foes we fight, The enemies we face. The battle against temptation Has been won through our redemption. The battle against sin Our savior did win. Through death And by the grave, Through His resurrection, Jesus has defeated our foe. As heirs to the Lord, When we face the horde, And as we live with the discord Of this world, Jesus is our sword. Call out to the cross And proclaim the loss Of our enemy. Claim His victory.  Jesus was victorious, Victory is our chorus, The song we claim In Jesus' name. 8/9/19, tcarter Discussion: I am still amazed how God works.  From what I heard one the news today to reading His word tonight came the following.  I also realized how His love works through the encouragement of others.  God does work in His ways, not ours. THE LOVE OF HIS COMMAND I heard the news today. Yes, I changed a word, The lyrics from the sixties Last century that is. Yes, I did hear and I did read the news. Sometimes when one speaks one's views The truth comes out, then others shout, Wondering how views like that come about. I once wrote about a long ago idol Whose thoughts one day became idle. He sang the words all you need is love, To which I replied, all you need is God's love. I believed, he did not, what Jesus said, “A new command I give you.   As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, If you love one another.”  (John 13:34-35) The love of man, yes it can Give us relief from the grief Of the lives we live And what we did give. It is there today and maybe gone tomorrow. There will be so many days with sorrow. What is this love we need? This love, what does it feed? Is it freely given to everyone Living with us under the sun? Maybe, Maybe not. Jesus said, as I have loved you. Commanded, this we must do. Not a love of this world, No, with the love of God. Sending his Son to live among us, This man, the Son of God, Jesus, Loved us all, the good and the bad No matter the lives that we had. He loved those in need, That is you and me, all of us. Whether living in the weeds Or in the fields, he loves us. Oh, there are those who will fall When it is time for the final call. But by loving without standing behind a wall There will be more in God's love standing tall. The rich man, the poor man, The tattered and torn And those dressed well worn, One and the same in God's hand. To deny our love to others We do judge our brothers, Judge them to be less, Judge them to be useless.

The Cave Hills are a pair of broad buttes standing sandstone-capped and pine-bedecked in Harding County, far northwestern South Dakota. Bull Creek divides the South Cave Hills from the North Cave Hills. Jones Creek traces the south face of the South Cave Hills. There, in 1890, after trailing a herd north from Belle Fourche, W. H. “Virginia Bill” Hamilton established a ranch. And there, in 1998, I came to locate the old ranch headquarters in preparation for a reprint of Hamilton’s book, Dakota: Autobiography of a Cowman . I left off this story in my last essay, following a pair of pronghorn toward the hills.

This week is National Suicide Prevention Week and the podcast is discussing Kayla Stoecklein’s new book, *Fear Gone Wild: A Story of Mental Illness, Suicide, and Hope Through Loss. If you are not familiar with her story, sadly, her husband, Andrew, died by suicide two years ago. Now, Kayla has become an advocate for mental health by spreading awareness and offering hope as she vulnerably shares her story. Suicide and Mental illness are not discussed much, so I am thankful to Kayla for helping give voice to this important subject.  She shares the myths of suicide and how to help someone walking through depression. She honestly talks about her wilderness season and how God has helped her thrive even in the middle of it. Lastly, she gives an amazing illustration of grief and pain to help those who are walking through loss. I promise you do not want to miss the truth she shares.  Also, I am so excited for someone to win a copy of Kayla’s book,*Fear Gone Wild. All the details are on my website, jodirosser.com or you can click direct link below: https://jodirosser.com/giveaways/fear-gone-wild-book-giveaway/ In August of 2018, Kayla lost her husband, Andrew – pastor of Inland Hills Church in Chino, California – to suicide. In the wake of the tragedy, she embarked on a brave journey to better understand his harrowing battle with mental illness and, ultimately, to overcome the stigma of suicide. With a clear-eyed acknowledgment of how misguided and misinformed she was about mental illness, Kayla Stoecklein shares her story in hopes that anyone walking through the wilderness of mental illness will be better equipped for the journey and will learn to put their hope in Jesus through it all. All the red shoes off screen, singing through a mask, and how this pandemic is changing the way we do church, not just in MJAC but in every church in Moose Jaw. We get to know our new lead pastor Kirk Cowman a little better and enjoy a conversation about his love for tech stuff and the way this season of isolation impacted his family and his staff team. We process our mixed feelings about the recent decision to wait to reopen the MJAC building until after Thanksgiving. Rachel gives us the scoop about what reopening has been like for some of our church neighbours, including Church of God and Hillcrest, and why some, like the Church in Caronport, have decided not to reopen their buildings yet. We start to imagine what church outside the building, in our homes and yards, could look like, including some of the safety concerns that might come up. In the last third of our show we discuss the way confession impacts our relationships and Jeremy and Kirk's messages on 1 John. Settle in for a long, wide-ranging conversation, friends!

If you thought this podcast was above exploiting the cuteness of a baby animal for attention, think again! Is it a bear? Is it a different, older bear? Whatever it is, it’s got some stank.Following a definitely-not-pre-recorded segment of The Quaff, Jake treads some familiar ground on just two legs. Eric Ludy Sermon Podcast: Church at Ellerslie

We often look at the lives of heroic Christians like Apostle Paul, Charles Spurgeon, or others and forget the hardships and difficulties they faced. Mrs. Charles B. Cowman wrote that “Every flower, even the fairest, has its shadow beneath it as it swings in the sunlight. Where there is much light there is much shade.” Though lives like Paul and Spurgeon shown much light, their lives were also marked by much “shade.” In this sermon, Pastor Eric Ludy encourages us to embrace the difficulties, trials, and hardships that come our way—as that is often a tool God uses to declare the power of the Gospel even more through our lives. For as Paul reminds us, “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Cornerstone Chapel - Audio Podcast

Life is filled with its share of trials and tribulations. We often describe these times like a “desert experience.” Isaiah writes about this theme in Chapter 35 and how God will once again cause the desert to bloom and cause the redeemed of the Lord to be crowned with joy. In its future interpretation, Isaiah is speaking of the Millennial Kingdom when Christ will rule and reign on Earth for 1000 years. But in its near interpretation, he writes about God’s sustaining grace through the trials of everyday life. In 1925 a wonderful Daily Devotional was written by Lettie B. Born out of her own personal anguish, this Devotional speaks of how Christ refreshed her like a Stream in the Desert. Join Pastor Gary for today’s study from Isaiah 35 entitled, “Out of the Desert.”

In 1989 Peter Cowman, a qualified architect began a rethink of what architecture should be. He wanted to examine the ideas and motivations behind shelter making, taking it back to basics, looking at what we would want to use all the spaces in a home for and looking at designing for the individual that the design evolves with the making with an emphasis on no mortgage or planning permission building possibilities. He developed the econospace, a timber framed building of less than 25msquare (no need for planning if on a piece of land with a building already on it). It is a simple structure with posts and beams and an infill of clay and straw. Windows are sealed and ventilation is provided by vent shafts which can be opened and closed as needed ensuring maximum insulation and heat retention. The structure can be built for €5000.In an attempt to to help to take away the mystery of shelter making, to bring it back into people’s consciousnesses, Peter developed his living architecture course which he has honed over the last 20 years. He also runs a website where he shares his philosophy on shelter making, sustainability and food growing and teaches it on a regular basis in Leitrim and Australia.   More info: Living Architecture Centre Host: John Gibbons Music: The B-52's - Love Shack Contact: info@alchemyradio.net Website: www.alchemyradio.net Twitter: www.twitter.com/alchemyradio Facebook: www.facebook.com/alchemyradio.net

Tonight is a replay of my Bobby Hamilton interview. His encounter reminded me of the “Cowman of Copalis Beach” encounter story. Bobby Hamilton grew up in Garrison and Jacksonville and said he has had encounters with Sasquatch. Hamilton said his first one started in the winter when he was four years-old. “I’m walking in the bedroom with my head down and I hear something scratch the screen and I look up and there is this apish looking thing with an evil grin, because I could see teeth, and it was motioning with his hand for me to come to the window,” Hamilton said. Hamilton believes East Texas is the perfect sport for sightings of the primate because of the wooded areas to hide in and the abundance of fresh water. Hamilton also said he believes the public will soon start seeing more sightings. “We are having more encounters with these things coming up to people’s houses and killing their livestock,” because their environment is being torn down,” Hamilton said. Bobby Hamilton is a co-founder of the GCBRO. Now a days Bobby spends his free time researching and investigating reports of aggressive Sasquatch’s harassing locals. The GCBRO wants to harvest a body so that they can present real evidence to science and prove that in fact this creature does exists.

Having not being officially celebrated in hundreds of years the festival is to return, rising from the ashes of the Bealtaine name as Festival of the Fires. It promises to be an event unlike anything ever witnessed in modern times - an iconic national celebration to truly ignite the summer. Created through the alchemy of ceremony, heritage, music, theatre, literature, arts, crafts, poetry, holistic health and sustainability.  Festival of the Fires will feature the collective talents of hundreds of participants drawn from all over Ireland and the world, gathering at the exact centre-point of Ireland to celebrate the onset of summer. One of the ceremonial highlights of the festival will be the lighting of a national fire, ignited first on the summit of Uisneach and then carried to hilltops in every one of Ireland's 32 counties. In ancient times, this sacred Uisneach fire was the catalyst for coast-to-coast celebrations with festivals and gatherings taking place in the fire sites, and in the communities below. You can find out more about the festival on the website at http://festivalofthefires.com/.   Twa Corbies by Damh the Bard A classic folk track, the Twa Corbies or 'two crows', given the Damh the Bard magical treatment for the new Crowman album.   Damh the Bard Interview (Pronounced 'Dave') Damh is a musical storyteller who works within the world of myth that cannot be proved; where the Faerie really do dance on Midsummer's Eve, where the trees talk, and the Hollow Hills take you into the realms of Annwn. It’s surrounded by a large fallen stone wall, and inside you can still see the remains of the roundhouses. On a beautiful day it is incredibly peaceful, but on a typical Dartmoor day, with the wind and the rain, it must have been a harsh place to live. "I sat with my guitar inside the remains of one of the roundhouses and just began to play on the guitar – looking around, breathing in the history of the place, imagining it full of life. What kind of people lived there. A Raven called overhead, and I felt I could see torchlight on the Tors either side of me. Voices of the Ancestors singing. The Land singing. And the melody of the guitar began to take shape. A ghostly and reflective refrain."   Competition Damh left us with a signed copy of his latest album, Tales from the Crowman, to give away as a competition prize. So, we set a competition based on Welsh Mythology for you.   Spirit of Albion by Damh the Bard Damh plays us his rousing anthem, a paean of praise to the land, Spirit of Albion from the album of the same name.   Get EXTRA content in the Celtic Myth Podshow App for iOS, Android & Windows Contact Us: You can leave us a message by using the Speakpipe Email us at: garyandruth@celticmythpodshow.com.
