In this episode of the Ezra Interviews, Dr. Michael Thiessen interviews lawyer Barry Bussey about the evolving landscape of charity law in Canada, particularly concerning religious organizations. In the first part of their discussion, they discuss the historical context of charitable status for churches, the implications of recent government recommendations to remove this status for pro-life and religious organizations, and the broader philosophical shifts in society regarding the role of religion. The conversation underscores the significance of charitable status for churches and the potential implications of altering government policies on religious communities. They also discuss the implications of changing charitable status for Christian organizations in Canada. They explore the philosophical foundations of charity, the role of government in influencing church operations, and the need for churches to respond proactively to these changes. The dialogue emphasizes the importance of understanding the historical context of charity, the necessity of making religious arguments in the public sphere, and the challenges churches face in maintaining their mission amidst political pressures. This episode revolves around "Resentment" as a human motivation. We begin with a discussion of a debate conducted by two AI's on the topic of Capitalism vs Socialism and remark on how whinny, nit-picky and generally ungrateful the Socialist bot's arguments were. From here we move into the topic of racial violence in South Africa, apartheid and the history of Rhodesia. Here we again find ourselves discussing resentment as it pertains to social unrest and human tribalism. Next we tackle grandiose ideas, which have played out in human history such as: Manifest Destiny, the Divine Right of Kings and the Right of Conquest. And, as you probably guessed, we can't discuss the Right of Conquest without a detour into the Gaza-Israel conflict and the resentment that so often comes with Imperialism and Colonialism. And finally, we wrap with a commentary on freedom of speech, whether speech can be violence (or incite it) and the special status given to the so-called N-word. Enjoy :)
What's the real history behind the Inquisitions, what do they reveal about the Christian faith, and could history be repeating itself? A few weeks ago, we unpacked the truth about the history of the Crusades. This week, the great Bill Federer returns to shed light on the rise of the first inquisitions, their lasting impact on both the Church and American history, and how these events connect to the biblical narrative. Join Frank and Bill as they tackle questions like:What are some of the key events surrounding the Spanish, Islamic, and Portuguese Inquisitions? What does Islam teach about those who leave the faith? What is the "Divine Right of Kings" and why is it so dangerous? Why was translating the Bible into English considered a serious crime? How did Christian disengagement from politics open the door to more persecution? Is religion really the root cause of most wars—and which worldview has the most violent history?Who did Thomas Jefferson give credit to as the inspiration for his views on freedom of religion? What is Jesus' new way forward now that the Old Covenant law is obsolete?Who in our culture wants to do an inquisition against Christians? In this thought-provoking episode, Frank and Bill explore how political powers throughout history have exploited religion to gain control—often with tragic consequences. From assassinations to coerced conversions, you'll get a gripping look at the real story behind the inquisitions—while also debunking myths and setting the record straight by looking at the facts! This week's episode ofWhat The Frock? is a wild ride through the absurd, the infuriating, and the outright hilarious. With Rabbi Dave and Friar Rod at the helm, we navigate a world where the Super Bowl is more of a sideshow, government corruption is business as usual, and a man once decided to live among goats just to escape the madness of modern life. The episode kicks off with theSuperb Owl—or, as normal people call it, the Super Bowl—but don't expect a traditional sports breakdown. Rabbi Dave's real excitement isn't about the game, Taylor Swift conspiracy theories, or questionable officiating; it's about the return of baseball. Meanwhile, Friar Rod, ever the voice of detached amusement, would rather explore distant galaxies inNo Man's Sky than pretend to care about the Chiefs' dynasty. But the real heart of this episode isn't in the end zones of Vegas—it's in the corridors of Washington. The duo dives headfirst into the latest government scandal, this time centered on USAID and its staggering misuse of taxpayer dollars. Billions funneled into leftist causes, media subscriptions, and who-knows-what else, all under the nose of a government that, apparently, doesn't think you have a right to ask questions. Their discussion spirals into the age-old dilemma: are we mad about the corruption, or just mad that we finally have to acknowledge it? And more importantly—what the hell do we actually do about it?If that all sounds a little heavy, don't worry—What The Frock? never stays serious for too long. From Prince Harry's dubious immigration status (is he an illegal alien now?) to the tragicomedy of Meghan Markle's imaginary divorce memoir, the show's signature blend of sarcasm and righteous indignation remains in full force. And then there's the pièce de résistance: the story of a man who, in his infinite wisdom, decided to live as a goat in the Alps. Prosthetic hooves, grass diet, and all.As always, this episode delivers a mix of sharp political critique, historical insight, and offbeat comedy. Whether you're here to shake your head at government absurdity, revel in sports indifference, or just hear about a guy who went fullgoat mode,What The Frock? has you covered. What The Frock? – Super Bowls, Government Waste, and Goats in Switzerland

God made humans male and female not to build a divisive wall around their strengths and weaknesses, but to create a powerful union of husband and wife. Both have traits the other doesn't have. It doesn't make men and women better or worse... it makes them different. New York Times bestselling author Lisa Bevere is pushing back against the secular culture's obsession with gender ideology that she says is destroying the God-given image of male and female. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Bevere talks about her book "The Fight for Female, Reclaiming Our Divine Identity". Bevere is no feminist. In fact, she says feminism to her is teaching women how to be men. Instead, she's empowering women to be women; strong enough to be wives and mothers, and noble enough to see in their male counterparts a co-traveler on a journey of faith. The definition of change is to make (someone or something) different; alter or modify. In this episode I talk about the importance of allowing change to occur. It is inevitable and if you want to see your vision materialise, change is what will allow that. You cannot bring everybody to where you are heading, trust how your life is unraveling. Patience and persistence is what will make the seed of faith grow. It all starts with forgiveness of the past and accepting it for what it is.Transcript from Broken RhythmThe hardest prison to escape from is the mind. However it is not impossible, we must affirm the words “I AM POSSIBLE”. Everyone is either living in the past or trying to live in the future which causes us to not take action towards what we desire. As a man thinketh so shall ye be. The power of the mind can either lead you to success or the complete opposite direction. Turn your fear into faith, transmute any negative self talk into positive. You have to act as if you already have what you desire, meaning wake up at the time your highest self would, if your highest self reads 3 books a month then do that ect.Questions to ask yourself….Question #1: Why Am I Here?Question #2: How Can I Express More of My Self?Question #3: What is for my Highest and best good to do today?Take incremental steps to becoming who you want to be. Escape the mind as you must live with your soul, the mind will keep you in a continuous rat race. March to the beat of your drum, everyone's music is different embrace that. You are and have been the creator of everything that is in your life, whether you know it or not. So why not create the life of your dreams? Being rich is our birthright step into that belief.Todays Affirmations:I now release the gold-mine within me. I am linked with an endless golden stream of prosperity which comes to me under grace in perfect ways. All that is mine by Divine Right is now released and reaches me in great avalanches of abundance, under grace in miraculous ways.Miss Broken Rhythm xThank you so much for tuning in so much love to you all! Natural Rights The idea of natural rights is the concept used in philosophy and legal studies that a person has certain rights from birth and which, because they were not awarded by a particular state or legal authority, cannot be removed, that is, they are inalienable. Such rights may include the right to life, liberty, equality, property, justice, and happiness. https://www.worldhistory.org/article/2375/natural-rights–the-enlightenment/ God-Given Human Rights vs. Divine Right of Kings The distinction between God-given human rights and the divine right of kings was a crucial aspect of the Founding Fathers' philosophical framework. In this episode of New Ideal Live, Nikos Sotirakopoulos and Elan Journo discuss recent calls by Tucker Carlson and other conservative voices to resist technological and economic progress in the name of preserving traditional values and lifestyles. Among the topics covered: Conservative policy proposals that oppose economic and cultural progress; How conservatives are torn between the contradictory goals of promoting individual freedom and preserving traditional ways of life; Why traditionalism is a philosophy of stagnation, and the dynamism inherent to capitalism is the exact opposite of traditionalism; Why the constant, ambitious pursuit of new knowledge and technological advancement is a fundamental human need; Why the “right to stagnate” mentality leads to hatred of production and innovation and sets people against one another; Why a fear of progress and a desire to stagnate reveal a profound lack of self-esteem. Mentioned in this podcast and relevant to the discussion are Ayn Rand's essay “The Age of Envy” published in Return of the Primitive: The Anti-Industrial Revolution and “The Missing Link” published in Philosophy: Who Needs It as well as “The Divine Right of Stagnation” by Nathaniel Branden. https://youtu.be/0MY12U37IVA In order for the state to function, the mass of the people has to believe in its legitimacy. To that end, the state employs a class of professional apologists and controls the means of propaganda, often through dominance of the education system. The task of the State apologist is “...to convince the public that what the State does is not... crime on a gigantic scale, but something necessary and vital that must be supported and obeyed.” In return for their services, the apologists are rewarded with power and status and allowed to share in the booty obtained from the masses. – Gerard Casey, Ph.D., Libertarian Anarchy: Against the State (2012, Continuum International Publishing Group), p. 27. Dr. Patrick Newman, a Fellow of the Mises Institute, is assistant professor of economics at Florida Southern College and a Fellow of its Center for Free Enterprise. Today's conversation dives deeply into the question of Rights. We in the 2A community are quick to bring up our rights, to affirm them as pre-existing, to appeal to them as unlimited... but what exactly are these human rights, how should we talk about them, and how did America's founders define them? Today's guest is Dr. Phillip Kayser, a pastor and theologian who has written extensively on the topic.
