With guest Yusra, we explore the transformative power of art as a tool for self-expression, healing, and social connection. The conversation highlights L'art a partager, a project by ASBL Douri that brings together individuals over 60 to engage in creativity, reflect on memories, and explore new artistic experiences. Through unique exercises, such as drawing with closed eyes, participants discover new ways to express themselves. The discussion delves into the emotional and psychological benefits of artistic practice and the intersection of creativity and social issues. Yusra talks about how art can bridge generations, spark meaningful conversations, and serve as a powerful medium for personal and collective storytelling. For some of the participants in the project, this is their first journey into art and first time visiting art museums in Luxembourg, like the MUDAM. Walid El Masri is the author and creator of this process and is currently displaying an exhibit in Dudelange.
We have Celje first leg and Drogheda recaps, an interview with Kevin Burke on his book 'One Night in Dudelange', about UCD's 2015 Europa League adventure which featured Collie O'Neill, Gary O'Neill and Dylan Watts, before Macdara Ferris chats to Rovers striker Stephanie Zambra ahead of Saturday's All-Island Cup Final against Galway in Tallaght.

Ambassador Bärtl talks about the upcoming visit of his President. Plus actor Catherine Elsen & director Sandy Artuso tell us about the power of Sarah Kane's work. Vladimír Bärtl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, has lived in Luxembourg for four years. He and his family arrived at the start of Covid, but rather than allow this to hinder developing diplomatic relationships, Ambassador Bärtl linked the song nano-textile production industry of his homeland with LuxInnovation. As a pilot, Ambassador Bärtl and AMCHAM co-organised and flew a group of NATO Ambassadors to Spangdahlem, a nearby American airbase in Germany. It's been a busy four years for Ambassador Bärtl. 2022 was the centenary of diplomatic relations with Luxembourg and the second half of the year saw the Czech Presidency of the EU. To celebrate these parallel programmes, Luxembourg inaugurated Václav Havel Street with both Prime Ministers present. At the end of February the President of the Czech Republic, Mr Petr Pavel, and his wife will visit Luxembourg, marking the first state visit with the new Luxembourg government. This visit will be accompanied by a business delegation with a focus on ICT, cybersecurity, space and defence, reflecting the geopolitical atmosphere in Europe right now. '4.48 Psychosis' by Sarah Kane “Remember the light and believe the light” 4.48 Psychosis is a one-woman play written by Sarah Kane (1971 - 1999). Despite her short life, ending in suicide, she is remembered as a powerful voice in contemporary British drama. Sarah suffered from severe depression and this work depicts some of her mental state in ‘virtuosic and precise use of language'. Some say that this piece was in effect her final goodbye. Sandy Artuso is the director and Catherine Elsen the actress in this show which you can see the show in Op Der Schmelz in Dudelange on 21 February. Subscribe to the Podcast and get in touch! For this week's City Scenes we're staying right here, for the letter L we'll be looking around us at the wonderful music scene that we have right here in Luxembourg. Where are the best spots to watch local music? The Philharmonie is a magnificent building in Kirchberg that more often not plays host to classical music, avant garde and jazz music, hosting orchestras, ballet, and opera and a good place to find the best of Luxembourgish music in those genres. The Rotondes is located in Bonnevoie behind the trains station and this is the place to be if you fancy catching the best in Indie, rock and electronic music. In the coming weeks and months some great local acts that you can catch playing there include electronic artist Andrea Mancini, Post rock band the cookie jar complot, Luxembourgish rapper Maale Gars and electronic pop producer napoleon gold. De Gudde Wellen is a 120 capacity club and concert space where any given night of the week you can catch the best in up and coming indie and rock bands and dance the night away to the best local Djs the city has to offer every weekend. Some upcoming local gigs at the venue include the bobby bieles band, creatures on mars and raftside and if you're into clubbing I'd recommend trying to get to the next Travel on the Beat party where you can catch local DJs Paulinska and Gustavo Morales spinning the house disco and techno. Other local venues where you might catch local acts often supporting big names, include Den Atelier, one of Luxembourg's main big room venues with a capacity of 1200 people, the Rockhal in Esch which can hold up to 6500 people and Kulturfabrik in Esch and Opderschmelz in Dudelange. Who is releasing Luxembourgish Music? A music scene isn't just about the bands that make music. Without labels to push the music and support artists you can't encourage a local industry. De Läbbel has been releasing Luxembourgish Hip Hop for over a decade. For cutting edge pop music from luxembourg you need look no further than Beast Records who have put out music by the likes of Chaild and Edsun, two extremely talented pop singers that are both pushing the boundaries for luxembourgish pop music. Bonus Noise is a label that has been running since 2009 out of a out of a recording studio run by Edwin Van Veen, they've released music by artists like Charlotte Bridge, In The Atlas, Timelord and Lumi and most recently they released a great compilation of electronic music called make synths not war. If you are an artist looking to record in a professional studio with a friendly atmosphere, then Bonus Noise Studios would be a great place to look. What festivals should I check out? Throughout the whole month of August, the Rotondes hosts nightly concerts, showcasing the best of Luxembourgs's local music scene and exciting up and coming touring acts at the Congés Annulé festival. Another good Summer one is the Siren Call festival programmed by Den Atelier and taking place in the breathtaking setting of the Abbey Neumunster in The Grund. Here you'll find Huge headliners like Phoenix, The Hives, Metronomy playing next to local acts like Claire Parsons, Chaild and C'est Karma. In Esch you have the out of the crowd festival which consistently books brilliant Indie and alternative rock line ups, for fans of Exerimental and Electronic music we would recommend checking out the upcoming Multiplica festival that is happening at the end of February at Rotondes And a recent addition to the festival landscape here in Luxembourg is the Usina festival that took place for the first time last year as part of the Esch 2022 European Capital City of Culture celebrations. This festival brings together the booking teams of all of Luxembourgs main music venues to programme a festival together. Last Year saw the likes of Kings of Leon and Caribou playing next to local artists like Charlotte Bridge and Francis of Delirium.
Is the second song on an album that record's best? This week, and rather fortuitously, given they headline Usina in Dudelange on Saturday, we look at Kings Of Leon's head-scratching about face Charmer, from 2007 LP Because Of The Times.
Tom was joined by Luxembourg-based singer-songwriter, Charlotte Bridge this morning for an exclusive premiere of her new single 'Wavering' ahead of her performance at the Usina22 festival this weekend in Dudelange. Charlotte (real name Stefania) has been writing music since the age of 12 and recording music as Charlotte Bridge since 2014. Her debut album steps came out in 2019 on Bonus Noise Records. She performs on Sunday at Usina22 festival alongisde names like Kings of Leon and Caribou. Listen here to her new singel Wavering and then head to Dudelange on Sunday to see her perform it live. More info about the single and upcoming performances can be found over on the Charlotte Bridge Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/charlottebridgemusic

Over two days and nights in June, 14 of Luxembourg's key cultural institutions, organisations and players will collaborate on the Usina22 festival, each bringing their own character and input to the collaboratively formed lineup. Jill Crovisier joined Tom on The Breakfast Show this morning to talk about her practice as a choreographer and Dancer and her new performance for young audiences, Sahasa, which will tour venues in Luxembourg in the coming weeks. Since 2007 Jill has worked as a professional dancer and choreographer. As well as practicing these disciplines, she is a videographer, director and sound designer. She currently tours with various international dance companies as well as creating performances with her own company JC movement production. Sahasa is her latest piece created for young audience. The title comes from the Nepalese for 'Courage,' which it takes as it's central theme. The performance brings together elements of parkour, freestyle football and contemporary dance and features three performers. In creating Sahasa, Lynn Jung, Sven Fielitz, and Isaiah Wilson, who each specialise in one of the disciplines respectively worked with Jill to find connections between their practices and adapt to performing together in one choreographed piece. The production was created in collaboration with various Luxembourgish cultural institutions and will embark on a tour of the country, performing to young audiences at Rotondes, Cape Ettelbruck, Trois C-L, Trifolion in Echternach and Opderschmelz in Dudelange over the course of late-April and early-May with more performances taking place in November at Rotondes. Teodor Georgiev was in the studio this morning for Delano's Top of the Week. Up for discussion were the meetings that are being held this week between the Trade Unions LCBG and OGBL and the Luxembourg confederation of commerce to discuss Sunday work in the country. Currently retail shops are only allowed to open from 6am and 1pm with the exception of 6 Sundays a year when longer opening hours are permitted. It is however ilegal for employees to work for more than 4 hours on a Sunday which is seen as a hinderance, particularly to cross-border workers who need to travel long distances to come to work. This will be the second time discussions are taking place after talks broke down last year. The OGBL and LCBG will be campaigning for more workers rights, higher sunday pay and the right to wok longert hours whilst the confederation will be defending employers interests in the discussions. For his event picks of the week Teodor chose the following events that are taking place in Luxembourg City: Screening of 'Hedwig & The Angry Inch' at Rotondes on the 5th of April: https://www.rotondes.lu/en/agenda/hedwig-and-the-angry-inch Luxcon in Dudelange happneing from the 7th-10th April https://luxcon.lu/ Luxembourg's Colonial past Exhibition at MNAH opening on 7th April https://www.mnha.lu/en/exhibitions/luxembourgs-colonial-past His personal pick for the week was Ibibio Sound Machine's track Electricity from their new album of the same name
Catherine Elsen and Pouya Ehsaei from The Assembly came onto the Breakfast Show today to talk about the interactive multimedia performance and installation project that is currently showing at Opderschmelz in Dudelange as part of the Esch 2022 Cultural Programming. The Assembly is a project that brings together over 20 artists from all over the world in collaboration. Catherine, a performance artist from Luxembourg is creative director of the project while Pouya, an Iranian, London-based musician and composer is responsible for the sound design. ‘The Assembly' is a multiplayer virtual reality (VR) experience embedded in an interactive installation that transforms into a performance stage at night. The VR experience, installation and performance can be experienced individually or combined. The Assembly, runs until the 8th of March. More information and tickets can be found at: https://dudelange2022.lu/en/agenda/the-assembly/
