Send us a text Autistic adulting job hunt hell? In this raw ramble on Adulting with Autism, host April (autistic OT) chats with social enterprise leader Brendon Eglinton (Australian Spatial Analytics/ASA) on flipping 34% autistic unemployment—80% neurodivergent team (75% under 30, 100+ clients, 10k hours/month) tackling geospatial/digital engineering gaps. L&D expert (20+ years banking/health/aged care), Brendon's model: On-the-job training (no rigid inductions—buddy support, project passion), pre-shared interview questions (fair fit, no "perform magic"), blended remote/office (commute burnout? Balanced weeks). Transcript gems: Recruiting globally (apps via site—aptitude over degrees; probation "try before buy"), support via lived experience (individualized learning, "makes sense" motivation), low call-outs (peers/leaders explain purpose), and business advice (common-sense inclusivity: Share questions, tap strengths like pattern recognition—48% better, 92% productive/loyal). URL tie: ASA's onshore services (data sovereignty, no slavery risks), talent solutions (diverse hires boost culture), neurodiversity training (co-designed by analysts). In his message at TGC Netherlands 2023, James Eglinton delves into Tim Keller's evolving relationship with Neo-Calvinism. He recommends Central Church by Tim Keller as the primary source for understanding Keller's mature theological voice and biblical basis for his ministry.Eglinton's sermon discusses the evolution of Keller's thinking, showcasing a shift from a distant association with Neo-Calvinism to Keller explicitly identifying as a Neo-Calvinist in later years. Eglinton suggests that a careful examination of both explicit and implicit engagements with Neo-Calvinist thought in Center Church is essential to understanding Keller's theological journey.Original conference media courtesy of: https://www.geloofstoerusting.nl/

Dr. James Eglinton joined us today to talk about his new English translation of J.H. Bavinck's Personality and Worldview (Crossway, 2013). Dr. Eglinton is a leading Bavinck expert, and had much to teach us on the relationships between personality, worldview, and other concepts. He also gave insight on Bavinck's concepts of race and racism, which was fascinating to consider. We hope you are encouraged. Support the showTo learn more about United? For the last three years, we've been discussing the work of Herman Bavinck on our Third Wednesday Theology episodes. This week, we're privileged to have Bavinck's biographer, Dr. James Eglinton, join us for a special interview.Eglinton is the Meldrum Senior Lecturer in Reformed Theology at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He is a lifelong Scotsman, raised in Inverness and holding degrees from Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. He's also given much of his time and effort to translating Bavinck's writing into English. In this wide-ranging conversation, we talk to Dr. Eglinton about his life, his work, and what makes Bavinck unique among modern theologians.Links:https://www.heritagebooks.org/products/bavinck-a-critical-biography-eglinton.htmlhttps://www.crossway.org/books/christian-worldview-hcj/https://www.crossway.org/books/personality-and-worldview-hcj/

“When it comes to theologians that contemporary church leaders should be reading, I don't know of a more important one than Herman Bavinck.” So says Timothy Keller in his endorsement of James Eglinton's 2020 book Bavinck: A Critical Biography. Keller first read Bavinck some 50 years ago in class with Roger Nicole at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. But not much of Bavinck's voluminous work has been translated until recent years. So, we live in a renaissance of appreciation for this Dutch theologian who died in 1921.Probably no one is more responsible for this renaissance than Eglinton, the Meldrum senior lecturer in Reformed theology at the University of Edinburgh. He also serves as a fellow for The Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics. In this special season of Gospelbound, we're exploring in depth several key influences that appear in my book Timothy Keller: His Spiritual and Intellectual Formation. James Eglinton and I discussed neo-Calvinism, whether he disagrees with Bavinck about anything, a beginner's reading list, and Eglinton's upcoming projects. You'll find few high-level academics who can match Eglinton's gift for clear thinking and teaching, as you'll hear in this interview.
