In a bold keynote address at BNC#7 in Hermanus, South Africa's Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, delivered eye-opening predictions about the political landscape leading up to the next elections - providing detailed analyses on the EFF, DA and ANC. McKenzie highlighted the importance of the Government of National Unity to South Africa, and how the coalition is keeping the EFF, MK and particularly "the most popular man in South Africa", Jacob Zuma, out of power. McKenzie shared behind-the-scenes insights into the dealings of the GNU, in particular, working with the DA and ANC. He also unpacked details surrounding the recently announced budget and closed off with some of his achievements so far as a Minister. After his keynote address, Minister Gayton McKenzie joined BizNews founder Alec Hogg for a no-holds-barred Q&A session where he doubled down on his stance against illegal immigration, calling it the "biggest issue facing South Africa" and warned businesses to stop employing undocumented foreigners. He also defended the Government of National Unity (GNU), emphasizing its necessity in countering the rise of Jacob Zuma's MK party. Reflecting on his tenure as Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, McKenzie highlighted his push for reforms in sports funding and infrastructure while confirming ambitious plans, including a bid for the 2036 Olympics and bringing Formula 1 back to South Africa. His candid remarks, including unexpected praise for political rival Helen Zille, underscored his belief that pragmatic leadership—rather than party loyalty—is key to South Africa's future.

Maybe a once-in-a-lifetime delivery.”

McKenzie reckons all non-ANC politicians, including Jacob Zuma's MK and the EFF, should unite in a single objective of ejecting the ANC from government, which will cut off its corrupt tentacles whose destructive cadre deployment reaches into every corner of the State. Discussions on electing a president and a new government must be completed in the next two weeks. Democracy Works Foundation chairperson Prof William Gumede says an “outlier” coalition government without the ANC is possible. The party that ushered the country into democracy and freedom, and independently governed South Africa for the past 30 years will need an alliance with another party or other parties to make up the 10% support it lacks to meet the threshold to remain in government. The ANC garnered 40% of the vote in the 2024 national elections with just over 6.3 million votes. Its loss in support has been attributed to former president Jacob Zuma's new MK Party and voters' dissatisfaction with the "glorious liberation movement". Its not a given that the party with the majority will anchor a coalition government. Gumede, says President Cyril Ramaphosa's job is on the line, coalition partners will come with demands. The MK Party has made it clear it will not work with an ANC which has Ramaphosa at the helm of the government. Last year the DA signed a pre-election agreement with smaller parties with a common goal of toppling the party of Nelson Mandela. Its Multi Party Charter partners, such as the IFP, Freedom Front Plus, ACDP and ActionSA, lagged far behind in voter support and did not reach double digit margins to make up the more than 50% needed to form a government. DA leader John Steenhuisen pledged loyalty to the charter after its partners' disappointing results. The parties are expected to meet soon. At the IEC national results operation centre PA leader Gayton McKenzie suggested the ANC be excluded from a new government. Gumede spoke to us about the prospects of a coalition without the ANC and the negotiations for President Ramaphosa's job.

He vows the UIM will not form any alliances with the ruling African National Congress (ANC), the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), MK or any cabal. De Beer talks about the fear that MK - on a “massive march” - and the ANC might “become family again” - and that South Africa might have an ANC government again “by hook or by crook”. He speaks frankly about the “rocky affair” of the Multi-Party Charter (MPC), of which his party is a member, but gives the assurance that the MPC is still together - and going into the election “as a team”. He also describes the faultless strategy followed by Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie in the war for the Western Cape. McKenzie says his leadership team is heading off on a learning visit to Israel, a country which has had a coalition government ever since its founding 75 years ago - and is hopeful this will teach his party the importance of maturity and unity among opposition parties, as their infighting undermines their credibility. In this wide-ranging discussion, McKenzie also touches on how the Moonshot Pact could work, but predicts that if the opposition doesn't sort themselves out, the ANC will be able to retain power in 2024 by choosing between his PA and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) as potential coalition partners. Mass deportation of illegal foreigners, death penalty, cancelling race — some of the (things) Gayton McKenzie says he will do when he becomes president. In a robust conversation on the Sunday Times Politics weekly with the Patriotic Alliance leader, McKenzie says he knows he will become SA president and laid down his objectives which “are all anti-SA constitution”, which he labelled as hypocritical. “I know I'm gonna be the president of this country and God will come back to South Africa.” McKenzie spoke on being a gang leader and how his life transformed through God. The former mayor of the Central Karoo District blames illegal foreigners for all SA's problems and wants everyone to walk around with identification. On the podcast he elaborated on the six things he stands for which are: Bring God back to schools: “God will come back to South Africa” National service, conscription: “military” Mass deportation of illegal foreigners: “all our problems stem from illegal foreigners. They will leave.” Bring back the death penalty: “you kill, I kill you” Stop exportation of our unrefined minerals: “we shall get the maximum benefit from our minerals” Cancel race: “how long are white kids gonna pay for the sins of their grandparents?” Current coalition governments, notably in the big metros, have been characterised by instability and infighting, in which the PA has been an important player. A central personality in South Africa's edge-of-the-seat political arena, McKenzie 'fesses up to mistakes, especially in the Johannesburg Metro. Action South Africa, a member of the anti-ANC/EFF Rainbow Coalition, today threw down the gauntlet for other members to bring the Patriotic Alliance back into the fold - and immediately take back control of the Johannesburg Metro. ASA's leader Herman Mashaba served notice of a vote-by-raised-hands motion of no confidence on April 25 in office bearing puppets appointed by the ANC/EFF councillors, setting April 25. In this interview with Alec Hogg of BizNews, the entrepreneur turned political disruptor says the content in social media messages postings by PA leader Gayton McKenzie encouraged him to take this gamble. He expects it to spark a new maturity by Rainbow Coalition members - with destructive bickering replaced by mutual respect among its members. Learn more about your ad choices. In this no-holds-barred interview Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie opens a window into what South Africans can expect from coalition rule after the 2024 National Election. At the very least, it promises to be exciting. The PA's co-founder says his ‘kingmaking' moves that reinstated power for the ANC in Johannesburg and Knysna, are deliberate lessons for erstwhile allies – especially the Democratic Alliance whose leader he again meets with tomorrow. Arguing the end justifies his means, McKenzie maintains if allowed to continue, current bickering between anti-ANC parties threatens to snatch defeat from the jaws of 2024's probable victory. He maintains the PA's switching sides will prove the point that coalitions must be run as true partnerships – and is confirmation he will always follow through on what he promises. In this interview with Alec Hogg of BizNews, McKenzie also explains the reasons why the PA rejected formal offers of funding from ‘my friend' Rob Hersov and like-minded tycoons. At BNC#4, when sharing the people he believed would serve SA well in a post-2024 cabinet, Hersov proposed McKenzie should be appointed SA's President. Learn more about your ad choices. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) announced on Tuesday that four political parties made donation disclosures during the first quarter of 2022/23, however, two of the four donations were made later than the regulated timeframe. The Democratic Alliance (DA) disclosed the largest total donation for the quarter with R15 977 687.13. The African National Congress (ANC), which disclosed R10 000 000, made its declaration outside the IEC's deadline. ActionSA disclosed donations of R750 000, and the Patriotic Alliance (PA), made the other late disclosure of R310 000. The total amount disclosed by all parties for the quarter was R27 037 687.13. Of the DA's total disclosed donations, its single largest donation of R15-million came from Fynbos Ekwiteit, which also made significant donations to the party in the previous financial year. The ANC's donation came from the entity Botho-Botho Commercial Enterprise. The IEC clarified that the Botho-Botho Commercial Enterprise should not be confused with Batho-Batho Trust, which made a significant donation to the ANC in the previous year. ActionSA's donations were received from Style Eyes of California (R600 000) and Shave & Gibson Group (R150 000), both of which donated to the party in the last financial year. The PA received two separate amounts of R150 000 and R160 000 from the party's leader Gayton McKenzie. However, the IEC explained that the donations amounting to R150 000 and R160 000 were made on March 7 and March 31, 2022, respectively, which was in breach of the legislation because the donation was declared a quarter late. The Commission requested that the PA make a representation explaining the contravention and the IEC revealed that the party had fully complied and that the necessary action had already been taken in accordance with the law. While the ANC's R10-million donation was submitted a month later than the regulated deadline and while the donation was made within the reporting quarter, it was declared to the Commission almost a month after the submission deadline of July 31, 2021. The Commission has also requested that the ANC provide an explanation for the late submission within 7 days. IN-KIND & FOREIGN DONATIONS The total value of in-kind donations declared during the first quarter was R723 493.56, and declared by the DA. This amount was donated by a DA donor that had previously made donations - the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), which made total aggregate donations of R3 100 044.85 in the previous financial year. The DA is also the only party to receive foreign donations in the reporting quarter. The total value of such donations is R977 687.13. The FNF donated R723 493.56 and the remaining R254 193.57 was received from Volkspartj voor Vrijheid en Democratie.
