Basant kicks off the podcast by talking about the ongoing election season in Gujarat, the ground realities of the Gujarat model, unemployment, Narendra Modi's image, and unkept promises such as those surrounding the sugar mill in Kodinar. He explains how the closing down of one mill has compelled farmers to grow less profitable crops as compared to sugarcane. Ayush then details how the Yogi Adityanath government gave Republic TV a plot in Noida for a new studio, and how this land was leased during the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, on a day Arnab Goswami interviewed the chief minister in Ayodhya. He says the deal is not illegal but raises questions. This and a lot more as they talk about what made news, what didn't, and what shouldn't have. Trinea's focus is to raise awareness and to elevate Avalon Healing Center's business model nationally and globally so that people know of their services before any assault or trauma occurs. Trinea was also featured in the HBO documentary “At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal”. In this episode, host Akanksha Kumar is joined by Newslaundry's Shivnarayan Rajpurohit. Shivnarayan talks about his experience attending an event organised by the RSS, where the highlight was a conclave on the state of the media, with awards handed out to a series of journalists.“You expect some good discussions on press freedom, while India is sliding down the press freedom index, but there was no discussion as such,” says Shivnarayan of the 11-hour event. “...These awards show that there are rewards also if you speak in favour of the government.”He also explains his report on three journalists allegedly attacked in Rajasthan – their arms and legs fractured after they reported on a “land grab”. Considering the spike in attacks on media personnel, he says, “It will be very difficult to convince the masses that we are journalists and we are for public interest.”This and a lot more as they talk about what made news, what didn't, and what shouldn't have.Tune in.Contribute to our NL Sena projects Bulldozing a New Image in MP and The Yogi Who Has It All.Timecodes00:00:00 - Introduction00:01:30 - RSS awards00:05:35- Rajasthan journalists assaulted00:22:17 - RecommendationsRecommendationsShivnarayanGreen Signals: Ecology, Growth, and Democracy in India AkankshaThe Trial of the Chicago 7At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal Produced and recorded by Tehreem Roshan, edited by Satish Kumar. For our latest episode, Erin and Elizabeth talk to the two-time-Emmy-nominated film director Erin Lee Carr, whose work features several acclaimed true crime titles for HBO, including Mommy Dead & Dearest, At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal, I Love You Now Die: The Commonwealth V. Michelle Carter, and Undercurrent: The Disappearance of Kim Wall. For Netflix, Carr directed Britney Vs. Spears, about Britney Spears' quest for freedom from her conservatorship controlled by her father. Erin Carr is the daughter of the esteemed New York Times media columnist David Carr, who died suddenly in 2015 at the age of 58 when Erin was just 26. David Carr had experienced what his daughter describes in our interview as “the rise and the fall and the rise,” grappling in his twenties with a crack cocaine addiction amidst the beginnings of what would become a meteoric journalism career. The premature births of Erin and her twin sister helped him get and stay sober, all of which is chronicled in his bestselling 2008 memoir The Night of the Gun. In Erin's own memoir about her father, 2019's All That You Leave Behind, she writes about the special bond she had with him over their shared career ambitions. And, as Erin would realize in her later twenties, their shared addiction to substances. Six years sober and engaged to a Washington Post media columnist (a similarity she thinks her father would have a field day with), Erin talks about the constant encouragement her dad bestowed on her—his toughness and tenderness—and shares the email he sent her after she was once fired that should probably be anthologized in parenting manuals. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tell-me-about-your-father/support

We all have those times when we're asking God for the solution to something and … crickets. We ask and nothing happens for days and maybe even weeks. It can be frustrating when we don't know how He wants us to move forward. I've been there and felt that frustration too. Then suddenly one day, you're minding your own business, and a thought pops into your head and it's the answer to your question! It seems so random and out of the blue but you just know in your gut that you have what you need from the Lord. In His wisdom He knows exactly what we need, and when we are ready to receive it. Might not make sense to us but it makes absolute sense to His plan for our lives and the kindness with which He stewards our hearts. This is where the beauty of John 14:26 becomes a reality in our lives. God takes the gold that we have been depositing for years and, wrapped in His love and wisdom, He makes known to us what we need, when we need it. It is the beautiful promise of Jesus that the Holy Spirit will come and help us. This week as I have been recording videos that will be in our new course, I experienced a well of gold coming up and out into my words as the Holy Spirit helped me to remember analogies from literally thousands of hours of coaching and conversations that I have had over my 20 years of being a believer. As you listen to today's podcast you will see the gold that has been deposited in you too! It's an amazing invitation that will transform how you see your role in your world as you realize how truly special you are. We look at how to walk this out Be faithful to deposit gold Let it transform your life Share it as Holy Spirit leads We're SO excited to see the GOLD in you! Come visit us at www.TheWaysOfWisdom.com

Olympians train hard. For many, it's their job to push harder and longer and heavier than us mortals do. When we say “no way” and bump up against our limits, they endure. But the net effects of all those watts and miles and grunts aren't only measured in washboard abs, records held and medals won: the discomfort of the most unbearable workouts is in a way the reward, giving meaning and value to the endeavor of athletic excellence and creating a bond between those who understand how much ache is required for gold. Hear Carlin Isles, Chloe Dygert and other Team USA athletes recount some of their worst workouts. Weightlifter Kate Nye gives her insight on breaking through to new bests and Canadian Rower Gabrielle Smith joins us from Tokyo with her coach Gavin McKay to talk about reaching the body's limits and teambuilding through discomfort. Join us for Season 2 of NBC Sports' The Podium. Episode 11 also features Ahmed Fareed's telling of Kerri Strug's 1996 display of toughness.

Journalist Jesse Barron shares his insight on this very difficult and complex case. In July 2014, 18-year-old Conrad Roy died by suicide in his car at a parking lot in Fairhaven, Mass. Police soon discovered a series of alarming text messages from his girlfriend, 17-year-old Michelle Carter, that seemed to encourage him to kill himself. This discovery sparked sensational headlines nationwide, leading to a trial that raised difficult questions about technology, social media and mental health, while asking if one person can be held responsible for the suicide of another. In 2012, teens Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy fell in love. They lived hours apart and met in person no more than five times, but exchanged thousands of texts over a two-year period. After Roy was found dead in his car in July 2014, what appeared to be a standard case of suicide by carbon-monoxide intoxication took a shocking turn when investigators discovered alarming text messages on his phone. Carter, 17 at the time, had urged Roy to kill himself, even after he had second thoughts and removed himself from his car. Directed by Erin Lee Carr (HBO’s At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal and Mommy Dead and Dearest) I Love You, Now Die explores the complicated relationship between Carter and Roy, drawing on some of the thousands of texts they exchanged over two years to chronicle their courtship and its tragic consequences. Featuring unprecedented access to the families, friends and communities that were forever changed by this unusual case, the documentary explores the changing nature of the justice system today, following a story that has wider implications for society at large, both online and in real life. The film presents a well-rounded look at a bizarre tale that was a deadly convergence of mental illness, loneliness, pop culture and technology. In July 2017, Michelle Carter was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the suicide of Roy. In August 2017, she was found guilty and began her 15-month prison sentence in February 2019, following a failed appeal. I Love You, Now Die includes footage from Michelle Carter’s trial, where the filmmakers had the only camera allowed in court and supplied the pool camera for this historic case. It also features interviews with key individuals in the story, including: Conrad Roy’s immediate family; Joseph Cataldo, Michelle Carter’s defense attorney; Dr. Peter Breggin, an expert witness for the defense; police detectives; and journalists who covered the case extensively. The documentary premiered at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival. I Love You, Now Die is directed and produced by Erin Lee Carr; produced by Andrew Rossi; co-producer, Alison Byrne; original music, Ian Hultquist; cinematographer, Bryan Sarkinen; editor, Andrew Coffman; executive producer, Sheila Nevins; senior producer, Sara Bernstein.

You know what? We make this look good. Podcasting that is. Alonso and Drea are joined by the wonderful co-host of 'Everything's Coming Up Simpsons' - writer and comedian Julia Prescott. The three of them dissect the brand new film, Men In Black: International. They chat about the movies that received the "troubled production" reputation. Plus, they discuss their favorite/least favorite movie posters. And, as always, staff picks. In news, April Wolfe is writing the Black Christmas remake, an animated Spice Girls musical is on its way, and Dee Rees is working on a fantasy musical of her own. Staff Picks: Alonso - Between the Lines Drea - Wild Rose Julia - At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal With Alonso Duralde, Drea Clark, and Julia Prescott. Liverpool v Tottenham Recap (1' - 30') At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal (30' - End)
After watching the heartbreaking documentary “At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal” I was inspired to share two of my own sexual abuse stories. No matter how small the experience might seem... it deserves a voice. Through standing up & speaking out, we give others a permission slip to do the same! ❤️

Where No Fan Has Gone Before Commentary. The Original Series may have only trekked on television screen for three seasons, yet there are a surprising numbers of homages to such a short-lived voyage in various movies and television shows—a nod to the impact TOS has had on popular culture. In this episode of Standard Orbit, Mike and Drew bring you a commentary for one of the most overt homages, the Futurama episode "Where No Fan Has Gone Before." Find out what happens when you get (almost) the entire living cast of TOS in (almost) the same room, while sending them to the year 3002… where Star Trek is show forbidden!
