During a child's first few years of life they go through an obscene number of nappies. It's estimated that nearly 3 billion nappies are thrown away in the UK every year – that's roughly 8 million nappies a day.The Environment Agency estimates that some components of disposable nappies can take up to 500 years to biodegrade. On the market today, there is no disposable nappy that is 100% biodegradable. Even most biodegradable brands only claim to be made of 60 % to 80% biodegradable material. The most environmentally friendly choice would be to go for reusable nappies. A baby goes through around 5,000 disposable nappies before being potty trained, if they made the switch to reusable, they'd only need around 20 to 30 reusable nappies. Even if just used part-time as little as two changes a day – that's about 700 nappies a year you're not sending to landfill.Sourceshttps://mossy.earth/guides/lifestyle/reusable-nappies-vs-disposable https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45732371 https://www.madeformums.com/news/reusable-nappies-not-catching-on-suggests-new-research/Special thanks to Imriel Morgan for providing a comment in today's episode. Elijah Wood tells Tom Sutcliffe about his new film No Man of God. Elijah Wood plays criminal profiler Bill Hagmaier in a story based on interview transcripts. Hagmaier is sent by the FBI to visit the serial killer Ted Bundy on death row. It's just a week away; Bundy agrees to talk, and he has much to confess. As lockdown and the pandemic brought concerts to a standstill, many musicians and comedians turned to online live streaming to perform, entertain and connect with audiences. According to YouTube, 78% of British people watched a live stream over the last 12 months. But now as live events return, and with concerns still over safety, have live streams proven they can coexist alongside in-person concerts as a way to feel part of an experience? Musician Paul Smith from Maximo Park and director and filmmaker Oscar Sansom discuss It's often said that we're living in a podcast ‘boom,' with increased investment from technology giants and big name celebrity signings. Imriel Morgan is the Founder and CEO of podcast marketing agency Content is Queen- a signatory to the pact- and she's also an award-winning host of the Wanna Be Podcast. Every month we meet with other Audiobookworms to discuss an Audiobook recommended by you. This week we're discussing Sour Hall by Laura Kirwan-AshmanSour Hall is based on the short story by Naomi Booth, the story follows George and Ash, an interracial lesbian couple who move to Georges family farm which is isolated up in the Yorkshire moors. As they begin their new life as dairy farmers, a boggart sets about tormenting both of them, thriving off of their pain and feeding on their energy, ruining George's dairy products, and distancing the couple from one another. The drama was recorded in partial 360 degree sound on location in Yorkshire, this piece has a powerful atmosphere and makes brilliant use of sound effects. Firstly, some series which you can hear in their entirety: Bronzeville Capital Fight Night (iHeartRadio) Edith Bowman tells Podcast Radio Hour about her movie music podcast Soundtracking, which boasts over 200 episodes. Each week she speaks to guests from the world of film about the emotion evoked by the score. She'll tell us how she's bagged interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Terence Blanchard and many more musical icons, but there's one composer in particular who has eluded her so far... Other suggestions of great long running series include: The Comb (BBC World Service) Reply All (Gimlet) Scene On Radio - season 4 The Land That Never Has Been Yet The Anthill (The Conversation) Nancy (WNYC) email your recommendations to podcastradiohour@bbc.co.uk

It’s Episode 96! Sofie Hagen (Secret Dinosaur Cult and Made of Human) and Imriel Morgan (Wanna Be & Shout Out Network) return for Sofie’s choice 22 July. 22 July is a 2018 film from Paul Greengrass, it is a fictional dramatisation of the real life events from 2011 when Anders Behring Breivik committed horrific violence on the island of Utøya and Oslo. The film could be viewed as three parts. The first part shows the calculated destruction and massacre that Breivik inflicts upon defenceless teens as they try and escape. The second part is standard drama, giving a voice to the victims as they try to recover and Breivik in court. The final part is a rushed attempt at offering hope and some kind of reconciliation of guilt for those who survived. Scores [supsystic-tables id='99']The end result is over two and half hours of messy filmmaking, while its intentions are to tell the victims stories and maybe to show the strength of family but it is still unbearably bleak. Overall 22 July scores 2.53 - let down by recommendability and that it’s over two and half hours. What do you guys think? Have you seen 22 July? What did you think? It’s Episode 86! Imriel Morgan (Wanna Be Podcast and Shout Out Network) and Sofie Hagen (Made of Human and Secret Dinosaur Cult) join us for Imriel’s choice, the 2018 Netflix film To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Based on the novel of the same name by Jenny Han, directed by Susan Johnson and starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo. While there is nothing particular new or surprising about the plot of To All The Boys, what is surprising and refreshing is the characters and loveliness flowing through the whole film. The lead, Lara, is played by Vietnamese born actress Lana Condor, which considering most female leads in rom coms are white Americans is a pretty big deal. What makes it even more of a bid deal is they don’t draw attention to it or make a plot point, boom! Zipping along at 99 minutes the film is a breeze and the chemistry between the two leads is always believable. Scores [supsystic-tables id='89']There was a lot of love for To All The Boys from everyone, a LOT of love, nearly so much love that it toppled newly crowned Flixwatcher champion When Harry Met Sally off the top. Nearly but not quite, but scoring a very respectable 4.78. They’ve just announced a sequel so watch this now! What do you guys think? Have you seen To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before? It’s Episode 54! Imrie and Natalie return for the documentary One of Us. This 2017 documentary follows the lives of three people who have chosen to leave the environment of Hasidic Judaism. Did you know Hasidic Jews fear the internet? If the answer is no and you’re curious why you might find this challenging documentary of interest. A sort of expose and sort of suspense thriller this film looks at the treatment of three different people who try to leave their communities. All three stories are sad, depressing and scary, there really isn’t much positivity to take from their experiences. Scores [supsystic-tables id='56'] While the stories of the individuals here are all important and should be be heard One of Us lacks in resolution or any kind of positivism the film lacks balance or perspective - scoring low on repeat viewing (as do most documentaries) overall we score it at 3.32 - worth an investigation. Once synonymous with the kitchen table, podcasts are now big business. The likes of Spotify and Amazon all produce their own podcasts and some advertisers see popular podcasts as a better investment than traditional radio. Andrea Catherwood is joined by Jamie Morton and James Cooper from My Dad Wrote A Porno, Caroline Crampton of the New Statesman, Imriel Morgan presenter of the Wanna Be podcast, and Ben Chapman, Head of Digital for BBC Radio. Presenter: Andrea Catherwood Producer: Richard Hooper.
In episode 8, Amber talks to Imriel Morgan, CEO of ShoutOut Network, UK's diverse podcast network about falling into podcasting, the labor intensive love of audio and why it is important for podcasters of color to have a voice. Amber kind of loves British accents, (so American, right?), and Imriel's show and prove attitude makes listening to hers that much sweeter. This episode is brought to you by Sudio.
