The war on gender has many fronts. In a time of unprecedented division among genders, comedian Omid Djalili shares a cautionary tale of the history of Iran's two revolutions, how women-led revolutions are our best chance of liberating us all, and how men can make a difference from the West. Around the world women's rights to freedom, justice and civil rights are being infringed upon and, in the case of Iran, violently attacked. The protests and revolution are a struggle for freedom and equality. This is not a fight against the hijab or against men. It is a fight against ignorance and as such it is supported fiercely by the men of Iran who are suffering a majority of casualties in their activism. New episodes every Monday

Two seasons in, the HBO/BBC series Industry has become one the sharpest, most riveting productions on television. The key to its success is how it invites the audience into the elite domain of London finance from the perspective of aspirational newcomers to the trade, looking to get ahead at all costs. Nathan Micay is a relative newcomer himself – to scoring – and his slick, intricate synth-based score is clearly the guide through it all, mirroring the aspiration and tension that permeates character and scene. Micay is the very welcome guest on this episode of the Composer Podcast!
Nihal, Hayley and Scott discuss The Elon Musk Show, a documentary about the world's richest man, the Channel 5 drama Maxine, and the second series of the HBO/BBC investment bank-based drama Industry. Scott also brings news of John Cleese's signing to GB News, and another rebrand for ITV.

In this episode I meet Adwoa Akoto, British-Ghanaian actor, writer, model and entrepreneur who appeared in HBO/BBC's hit series 'I May Destroy You'. She talks about her unusual route from economics and finance into acting and how her experience working with NGOs shaped her desire to create impact in this world. Reflecting on the conversation, she says, "I didn't even realise a lot of the answers to the questions that you're asking me, I've never really thought about in so much detail. So this has been really enlightening for myself as well." Listen to the power of silence in allowing the brain to do the thinking it needs to do - an essential element of discovering your own moments of remarkable clarity. Adwoa is an inspiration to young actors and entrepreneurs, especially those of hybrid nationality like herself, and this episode is an object lesson in how you can discover clarity in your path ahead if you just create the right environment for great thinking.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adwoaakoto_Twitter: https://twitter.com/adwoaakoto_

Andi Osho is what the cool kids of our day would call your typical "Slashie", meaning she cannot be defined by just one occupation. She is an award-winning comedian, writer, actress and on top of that she is the only person to win Celebrity Mastermind, not once, but twice. For the past eighteen years Andi has graced our screens in a variety of ways from comedy shows such as Live at the Apollo and Mock of the Week, to dramas such as Michaela Coel's HBO/BBC, I May Destroy You and BBC 1's Line of Duty. In this episode, we discuss everything from Andi's drive to continue to innovate herself even when the road ahead is not clear, her frustration with the comedy world as a Black woman and how she is now at peace with the idea of not having her own children. We're also joined by dietitian Ruth Wood, who gives us some insight into the best foods and nutrients for us and why that 7pm spin class might not be the best idea after all.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Disney Plus). Connie and Becca are back after an unexpected delay. We highlight a show that really gives the gays what they want - HBO's Gentleman Jack. We discuss our love for the HBO/BBC period drama about the Gender Non Conforming, possibly Non Binary Lesbian Anne Lister and her search to find a wife in 1800's Halifax. We also talk about the series stars Sophie Rundle and Suranne Jones and how she's is the perfect actress to play Lister on screen and also touch on the Anne Choma book that decodes Anne Lister's secret diaries of her lesbian conquests and quest to marry a woman. So basically LOTS of LESBIAN this time.

We continue to wonder whether our favorite book moments will ever see screen time as we pass the halfway point in the first season and continue to move through Lyra's world at breakneck pace. Opinions dujour: Dafne Keen's performance is about as peak-Lyra as we could ever hope for; we thought it would be a lot darker and snowier in the north; and the show makes two of its most suspect adaptation choices in the same episode. There is blanket spoiler warning for the whole episode if you are not up to date with the HBO/BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials. There is an additional spoiler warning for those who don't want to be spoiled by book knowledge beginning at 55:30. Verbal spoiler warnings are given. Is that a daemon in your pocket, or are you just ready for another round table discussion about the month in pop culture? Either way, you're in the right place! The holiday season is right around the corner, but we've got some pop culture to be thankful for right now. There's a faint smell of turkey in the air, Christmas carols already playing on the radio, and the boys are here to share the pop culture items that they're thankful for this month. The conversation kicks off with the launch of Disney+ as well as the highly anticipated series, The Mandalorian (with some excitement for baby "Yoda!"). In video games, we explore Nintendo's new iteration of Luigi's Mansion, as well as Pokemon Sword & Shield. Plus there's more TV and movies to discuss with Mindhunter, Schitt$ Creek, and the mind tripping film, Midsommar. From there, the boys discuss the HBO/BBC co-lab, His Dark Materials (along with some rather disturbing possible porn derivatives...) and Pat even discovers what his daemon would be before diving into The Good Place which is in its final season!Sit back and get ready to FLAME ON! Growing up, Sally Wainwright visited Shibden Hall, a historic house and park in West Yorkshire. But she wasn't taught much about Anne Lister, who had lived there in the 19th century. Years later, Wainwright learned that Lister was truly ahead of her time: a businesswoman and a gay-marriage pioneer. Wainwright tells us about ‘Gentleman Jack,' her new HBO-BBC series based on the extraordinary life of Lister.
