In this powerful episode of Sex with Emily, Dr. Emily sits down with Jeffrey Marsh, the first openly non-binary public figure interviewed on national television, author of "How to Be You," and a Zen-trained meditation teacher who has helped millions embrace self-acceptance. This conversation goes deep into identity, authenticity, and the radical act of loving yourself exactly as you are. Jeffrey shares their journey from childhood feelings of not fitting into traditional gender roles to becoming a leading voice for non-binary visibility and self-compassion. We explore the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation, the importance of using correct pronouns as basic respect, and how Jeffrey's 20+ years of Zen practice has shaped their approach to self-love and helping others break free from shame. This episode addresses the real challenges of coming out, setting boundaries with family, and the courage it takes to live authentically in a world that often demands conformity. Jeffrey offers practical wisdom on moving from self-criticism to self-acceptance, why asking for what you need is essential for healthy relationships, and how their work helps people - especially parents - learn to support LGBTQ+ loved ones. Whether you're exploring your own identity, supporting someone in your life, or simply want to understand how to love yourself more fully, this conversation offers profound insights on breaking free from societal expectations and embracing your authentic self. Despite a desire to stop talking about the trans agenda, we must continue to point out the absolute absurdity and danger of this mental pathogen that is invading so many aspects of our society. At one time, they just wanted to be left alone, but now they're demanding fealty to a rainbow crown. For example, America's favorite trans activists, Jeffrey Marsh and Dylan Mulvaney, continue to put out content aimed at children. It's exhausting to talk about, but important to remove the facade from this act that seeks to destroy the next generation. An LGBT pastor released a video declaring drag to be holy! That's right, the trans agenda has invaded the church. Chad breaks down why this interpretation of scripture is wildly inaccurate and intended to manipulate people. Leigh Finke, the Minnesota speaker of the House, was named Minnesota “Woman of the Year” by USA Today. Only issue with that is Fink is a biological man. This ideology is so intertwined with the left that Kamala Harris is writing letters of support to Dylan Mulvaney, thanking him for his activism. Worry not, Karine Jean-Pierre brought in the cast of “Ted Lasso” to discuss mental health, so surely everything will turn out just fine. In this episode, Nyeckro and DJ Crobo discuss concerns about Jeffrey Marsh targeting children on (their) his/her platform, it is important to first understand the nature of the content Marsh is sharing, which many people deem it to be inappropriate or harmful for children. A rival Tik Toker, Shumirun Nessa thinks it may be necessary to take action to protect the safety and well-being of young viewers from Jeffrey's content. In general, it is important to have open and honest discussions about online safety and to encourage responsible use of social media platforms. Parents and caregivers can help children understand the potential risks associated with online interactions and can work to monitor their children's activity on social media. Eating habits are important to Chad and Sara, so it's time for Chad to go full-on keto. While Chad wants to change his eating habits, the world is making it difficult, especially after his incident at a Whataburger drive-through. Sara Gonzales, BlazeTV host and health nut expert, joins to discuss how important it is to have a healthy diet in order to live a better life. What's in your diet that's killing you faster? The majority of young Americans believe there is NO absolute truth and say that “people determine their own truth.” This is a VERY dangerous way of living in 2022, especially when you have people like trans activist Jeffrey Marsh, for whom targeting those young Americans is a priority. Jeffrey has a series on TikTok for kids ONLY and is creating more gender confusion in the next generation. Parents, are you paying attention to your kids' social media? Why is the Left brainwashing our kids? "Florida man" takes a whole new meaning after a dad sues the school because his son's teacher was flying an LGBTQ flag inside the middle school classroom and promoting “homosexual lifestyles.” Does the dad have a case against the school? When kids come out as trans, there is often, but not always, a progression to it.It is not at all uncommon for kids–particularly adolescents–to start with coming out as gay, and then progress into a non-binary identity, and then to a re-binary identity. But not everyone takes that route. And a lot of kids and adults discover the concept of non-binary or something similar and go, “Yes! This is me - finally.” There are so many labels in the gender universe, and because it is continuously evolving, it makes continuous learners out of all of us.My hope is that as people hear more gender journey stories like today's guest's, an awareness will be built and that more and more people will feel confident going on a journey of gender exploration.Today's campfire conversation is with Jeffrey Marsh. Jeffrey is a viral TikTok and Instagram star, nonbinary activist, and LGBTQ keynote speaker. Jeffrey was the first nonbinary public figure to appear on national television, being interviewed on Newsmax in 2016, and Jeffrey was the first celebrity activist to use they/them pronouns. Jeffrey Marsh: This podcast will focus on the collision between self-esteem and gender identity- especially for children who don't have the support they need to truly embrace who they are. For kids who identity as LGBTQ, they don't need a “perfect” parent who knows exactly what to say, but rather, one who will ask the questions, stay curious, and above-all-else, be a supportive advocate for their child. Dr. Robyn Silverman interviews nonbinary author, activist and social media star, Jeffrey Marsh. On this final day of June, we're celebrating this final day of Pride Month with a look back at three of our favorite conversations from trailblazing voices in the LGBTQ community. Amit Paley, the executive director and CEO of The Trevor Project is doing life-saving work leading the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. Rosemary Ketchum made history when she became the first transgender person elected to a public office in West Virginia. Jeffrey Marsh is a non-binary rights activist, speaker, and author who is best known for making inspirational videos that have been seen more than a billion times, teaching self-love and acceptance. Each of these conversations invites listeners to learn and understand the LGBTQ community, to celebrate the progress in this space, and the opportunity for continued support ahead. -------- Imma keep some healthy space from social for a bit and am bringing it on email. Feels right, and actually a little more personal, tbh. My guest today, Danica Roem, went from fronting a Death Metal band by night while building a career as an accomplished journalist by day, to being the first person to be elected and serve in any U.S. state legislature while openly transgender. When you hear that story, you might think, “wow, that's amazing, but I don't really relate.” Not so fast. When you zoom the lens out, Danica's story is really about the quest to live as the truest expression of yourself, to not stifle or deny who you are, and to find a sense of home for all parts of you within a community. Which is something nearly all of us often struggle with. I know I do. This is why I was so excited to be in conversation with Danica Roem. My chat with Danica takes us back to her teenage years, where she first found her community in (what may sound surprising now, but won't later) metal music. We talk about the struggles of masking the authentic parts of yourself in order to fit in, and how she's been able to use her experiences to relate with people from all different backgrounds on a human level. Danica's new memoir-meets-manifesto, Burn the Page: A True Story of Torching Doubts, Blazing Trails, and Igniting Change, deconstructs the many, sometimes outrageous and deeply isolating and offensive stories her doubters and opponents have thrown at her and shows through brutal honesty how she's turned her identity, values and experiences into her greatest strengths. She brings that same honesty and authenticity to our conversation today, so know that you're in for a real treat. You can find Danica at: Website | TwitterIf you LOVED this episode you'll also love the conversations we had with Jeffrey Marsh about living into your own sense of identity, unapologetically. On today's episode of "The Language of Love," Dr. Laura Berman sits down with Jeffrey Marsh. Marsh is an LGBTQ+ activist and social media personality known for their uplifting videos on TikTok. The genderqueer, genderfluid nonbinary author was dubbed "the internet's most beloved anti-bully," and on this episode, Marsh lives up to their reputation as one of the most inspiring and educational voices in the LGBTQ+ community. Marsh is a visionary who coaches people to learn to love and accept themselves, especially the parts of themselves that might feel wrong or flawed, or unlovable. Dr. Berman sits down with Marsh to discuss everything from gender identity to pronouns to what it really means to live a fully authentic life. Marsh explains how they are able to live so bravely even in a world that can sometimes feel so filled with hate. As Marsh discusses their traumatic experiences with bullying as a child, Dr. Berman digs into the topic of childhood bullying from her perspective as a mom who struggled with watching her own kids being bullied. Dr. Berman asks Marsh how parents can better support their children when they're enduring bullying, as her own efforts to intervene were often not successful. When school can feel like a warzone, it can lead kids to make tragic choices that can have devastating consequences. Marsh explains what they think parents should do to protect their kids and also how to teach kids to stand in their own power even as they're being judged and mocked for their differences. Don't miss this inspiring episode that will educate, uplift, and empower you on your journey to wholehearted living.Website:http://www.jeffreymarsh.com/Social Media:https://www.instagram.com/thejeffreymarshhttps://twitter.com/thejeffreymarshhttps://www.facebook.com/jeffreymarshofficialhttps://jeffreymarsh.tumblr.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKDBJO1KAhAHroi44gRqyFQhttps://vine.co/jeffreymarsh

I'm Nelsie Spencer. I'm a writer, performer, writing teacher/mentor/coach. And a podcaster. I have over 30 years of experience as a writer: I produced a playwright (My Heart Belongs to Daddy), an award-winning screenwriter (Valley Inn), and a published novelist (The Playgroup). My writing career began when I wrote myself a role with my best friend Laury Marker. Our play, My Heart Belongs to Daddy, premiered at Lucille Lortel's White Barn Theatre in Westport, Ct. And had 3 more sold-out and critically acclaimed productions! Along the way, we worked with producer Dash Epstein and director Morton DeCosta (both Tony-Award winners). Since My Heart Belongs to Daddy, I've written stand-up, become a published novelist (The Playgroup) and worked as a radio talk show host with comics Cory Kahaney and Maureen Langan. Nora Ephron called my first screenplay, A Girl's Best Friend, "a brilliant premise and a wonderful screenplay." When she took the script to Sony and they passed on it, it, she told them, "You're idiots! Read it again!" God bless you, Nora! In 2015 the award-winning indie film, Valley Inn (co-writer with Kim Swink), was released. My time as a radio talk show host, stand-up comic, and actor made podcasting an easy, fun, and inevitable next step. Last year, I created Losing It! with Nelsie Spencer, life lessons from some of my favorite losers. After taking a few decades off from serious acting, I made my way back to the stage last year when I wrote and performed Day of the Dead Daddy, my solo show. It premiered in NYC at The Chain Studio Theatre. This year, I was honored to be invited to perform my show (via Zoom) at The Marsh Theatre's International Solo Show Festival where Day of the Dead Daddy won an Honorable Mention. I plan to bring the show to Edinburgh for their Fringe Festival next summer. Throughout my unorthodox career path I've met and worked with many interesting and influential people such as super-agent Ari Emanuel, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, and Oscar winners Jane Fonda and Mary Tyler Moore.I've been helping other writers find and hone their stories and their voices since 2006. My current mission: to create community, support, and inspiration for the writer.

Phase One of the podcast continues. For the next several weeks, I'll be sharing conversations with guest stars and crew members from Seinfeld. This week I'm talking with John Apicella, one of just 13 actors who appeared in both the Seinfeld and Twin Peaks universes. We talked about watching the Seinfeld team work their magic in the episode The Tape, his role as Jeffrey Marsh in season 2 of Twin Peaks, and working with David Lynch in a scene that was cut from one of his films--I'll let you listen to find out which one. John shared his unique perspective on what made both shows work so well. He's an avid Lynch fan, a seasoned comedy veteran, and an all-around great guy to talk to, and I think you're really going to love hearing from him. Happy Pride Month! Parenting is never easy, and there's no real template for those raising kids in the LGBTQ+ community. Sometimes, the best resource is hearing directly from others walking the same path. For this episode, we're delighted to share an interview with the amazing Anna Held, a personal friend and overall rockstar. When her teenager, Sam, came out as non-binary over a year ago, she hit the books, talked to others, and relied on some of her knowledge from previous parenting best support them. She has a lot of wisdom: from how she and her husband created a safe space for gender expression in their home, to the questions she asks herself (and Sam) about when and how to best advocate for them. We're also thrilled to soon feature a follow-up episode where Sam will share their perspective, as well. In the interview, we discuss: - Who is in Anna's family and why it was important to her and her husband to cultivate an open conversation about gender and sexuality (see recommendations below) - How she responded when Sam first came out to the family over corn on the cob :) - The question of balance; when and how to step in on when others misgender Sam - Generational differences in how much the concept of binary is engrained in our culture and how it is changing - Challenges communicating with individuals or institutions about changing pronouns - The benefits of having non-binary adults who can share their story with Sam - How some struggle when they “can't understand” or “don't recognize” gender identity outside the binary Some of the great resources Anna mentioned in the interview, and a few she shared afterward, include: - Jeffrey Marsh on Instagram — "Gender delightful” and non-binary rights advocate, author of How to Be You - Sex Is a Funny Word - Non-gendered book that covers body parts, gender identity, and sexuality - The ABC's of LGBTQ - Described as “essential reading for questioning teens, teachers, or parents looking for advice, or anyone who wants to learn the language of respect.” - Two books on trauma-informed parenting from Dr. Bruce Perry - The Boy Who Was Raised a Dog and What Happened to You? (with Oprah) Thank you so much to Anna for sharing her perspective. We'd love to hear from other parents who can relate to Anna's experience. Reach out and let us know your thoughts. We'd also love to share an organization that was not discussed in the interview, but is doing the good work of reaching out to LGBTQ+ youth: The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25. If this is a cause that is dear to your heart, we encourage you to donate at www.thetrevorproject.org. OTHER EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: - Katie got into grad school (woo-hoo!) and is ready to fork over her money and soul - Lee Ann's hair is not behaving and she apparently she wears her pants inside out - NEW SEGMENT! HIGHS + LOWS (or ups and downs) of parenthood — share with us either a high or a low this month for you in the never-ending crazy that is raising humans. Katie kicks it off with a tale of her four-year-old turned fourteen-year-old. Send us a voice recording at hello@raisincascadia.com, or leave us a voice message telling us your story by leaving us a voicemail at 503.893.5608. We may feature you in our next episode. - SOLICITED ADVICE We share our thoughts on the awkward question of travel now that restrictions have eased up. Are you comfortable traveling? Do you have hesitations? We chip in our thoughts and would love to hear yours. Phone lines are always open.

On today’s show, I am joined by activist, author, and queer commentator Jeffrey Marsh to discuss all things gender. Regardless of how you identify, Jeffrey’s radical self-acceptance will help you to gain a new perspective, have a different understanding of yourself and allow you to stop any negative self-talk. Jeffrey breaks down the difference between confidence self-acceptance, how fearlessly demanding respect from others frees you up to fully be yourself, and their experience as the first openly non-binary person on television. We share the basics of gender pronouns, the difference between being trans and non-binary, how gender differs from sexual orientation, and how parents can support their children regardless of their identity. We also dive into Jeffrey’s book How to Be You, what happens during meditation and self-care journeys, and why learning to ask for what you need is crucial for healthy relationships. We are now down to the last installment of the Inner Work Series, where we dive deep into our inner self for healing and understanding. In the past few weeks, we learned to pause and untangle our triggers, meet our inner critic, become the confident leader of our internal family, and find joy through our inner child. And as we wrap up this inner work, I am giving one more episode (Actually, there is also a BONUS live coaching episode coming too! See details below.). In this episode, we are going to focus on self-compassion and self-acceptance, as these are the prerequisites to conscious parenting. And what better way to help us on these topics than bringing in a radical self-acceptance advocate and my personal hero, Jeffrey Marsh!!Jeffrey is the first openly non-binary public figure to be interviewed on national television and was also the first non-binary author to be offered a book deal with any "Big 5" publisher. It is their lifelong mission to help individuals learn to accept themselves for who they are, and we share the belief that if we hope to accept our kids unconditionally, we MUST start with ourselves. They rose to prominence with inspirational viral videos, first shared on Vine and now on Twitter and Instagram. For many LGBTQ people, the internet is only place where they can find acceptance. Jeffrey Marsh talks about the pros and cons of that, and how Tumblr was the first place that they learned about gender-neutral pronouns. They talk about how their gender has been something that people have had to "deal with" all their life and that while growing up, the only role model they had for any form of gender nonconformity was Christine Jorgensen. Jeffrey also talks about their 20-year-old Buddhist practice, gaining fame in an "illegitimate" way (online), and learning to love their body.
