Misty (Moustafa Sheta), born in Madrid but with Egyptian roots, kickstarted his journey as a DJ and producer at the age of 15. Initially creating mixtapes for friends, he soon found himself immersed in the world of DJing, crafting a distinct sonic style that merges house rhythms with dynamic basslines and elements drawn from dance floor-ready disco and electro. This unique sonic blend not only positioned him as a prominent figure in Egypt's electronic music scene but also elevated his status as a regional DJ, with performances at various venues and festivals across the Middle East and North Africa. In 2021, Misty's EP "Things," released via Love Attack Records, showcased two original tracks and two remixes by Vhyce. The lead track, 'Things,' featuring Canadian indie vocalist Andrew Shier, swiftly climbed Beatport's top 10 Indie Dance charts, garnering support from acclaimed DJs such as Solomun, Dixon, Catz N Dogz, and Jennifer Cardini. Expanding his influence further, Misty initiated 'Transmissions,' a monthly residency at Cairo Jazz Club in 2022, aimed at spotlighting his indie house sound and shaping Egypt's dancefloors. This event not only cultivated a dedicated community around his music but also attracted renowned artists like Alan Dixon, Catz N Dogz, Storken, and Krystal Klear, underscoring Misty's pivotal role in nurturing a distinct musical identity within the local scene. The year 2023 witnessed the release of Misty's follow-up single "Figure It Out" on Love Attack Records, which received accolades from industry luminaries like Folamour and Cormac. Additionally, his collaboration with Alan Dixon on an edit of Amr Diab's classic club hit "Wala Ala Balo" emerged as the anthem of the summer, gaining international traction and resonating across dancefloors worldwide before its official release at the year's end. Through these concerted efforts, Misty continues to shape the electronic music landscape, leaving an indelible mark not only in Egypt but also across the broader region. In this special select, Misty guides us through an hour of extremely Misty-coded sounds, from house, dub, electronic, and reimagined italo-disco. A club-ready set, Misty journeys through various eras, blending different eras of disco and house into one. Notable tracks to look out for include Nairless' ‘Dazzling Fantasy' (Jex Opolis Mix) The Entertainer feat. London-based DJ/producer Nyra has been carving his own path on the underground since 2008, with his celebrated parties in hometown Sheffield, drawing guests including Ben UFO and Steffi. All City have put out some of Ireland's finest records of the last few decades including artists such as Krystal Klear, Art Crime, Dâm-Funk, FaltyDL, New Jackson, John Daly, Folamour and more. The label also oversee's and has helped grow sub-labels and other Irish labels such as Pear, First Second Label, Gurriers as well as a host of other imprints. The Dublin based record label now launches a more tongue and cheek label championing Irish producers but in a more incognito fashion. The record offers 4 dance floor ready cuts from 4 Irish producers with a sheer UK influence. We premier the first track from the VA from the surreptitious BWORNER which is entitled CRIPWALK. The music on my new mix, Colin Peters presents ITALO DISCO, can be described as: originally from Italy and mainly produced in the 1980s, Italo disco evolved from the then-current underground dance, pop, and electronic music. The genre employs electronic drums, drum machines, synthesizers, and occasionally vocoders. I've strapped on some modern day wonders from Krystal Klear, Purple Disco Machine, Josep Xorto and Mind Enterprises to complete my neon-coloured canvas. Sophie Bloggs (YMU Group), looks after the careers and manages Hannah Wants, Danny Howard, Kurupt FM, Krystal Klear, Pvblic Xccess, and is one of the most important voices in electronic music management today. Sophie won the Breakthrough Manager Of The Year at the 2019 after being in management for the best part of a decade, itself an interesting and empowering point she brings up. Recorded in July 2020, we talk her approach to the pandemic with her artists, her scepticism on the proliferation of live streams, as well as promoting some of the positive outcomes. We discuss her moves through various company partnerships where she has brought and build her roster over the years, Sophie talks us through the specific partying and mental health pressures on electronic artists and DJ's and both Sophie's explore experiences in, what is still an extremely male-dominated area of the music industry. There's conversations about taking on an act (Kurupt FM) who might seem right out of your comfort zone (on paper) and approching that with confidence. We talk the remix business, gaming partnerships and how she fell into management by forging connections and getting a start on the label side of the legendary Fabric venue and business.
