They also met with instructors Ruth, Craig, Dylana, and Sarah, who bring passion, experience, and approachability to everything from kayaking to archery, helping make the outdoors accessible and fun for everyone. Bean — And Why More People Need to Do This You don't usually associate archery safety talks with jokes about Sasquatches or see your kid aim an arrow at a tennis ball in the rain and absolutely light up. But that's exactly what happened when we spent a day with the L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery Programs at Lake Nockamixon. This wasn't just a video shoot or podcast episode. It was the kind of day that sticks with you. Not because it was perfect (it rained), but because it was real. And more people need this kind of real right now. Listen to the Episodewww.lehighvalleywithlovemedia.com/podcast/llbeanoutdoordiscovery Explore the Programshttps://www.llbeanoutdoors.com/quakertown-pennsylvania “We want to give you the best first experience you could have.” That's what Lindsey Johnson, Program Coordinator and ACA Level 1 Kayak Instructor, told us early on. And it's not something you'd expect to take seriously — until you spend time with the instructors she works with. People like Ruth, who's been doing this for 15 years and still lights up when she talks about getting people on the water.Or Craig, who took a kayak class in college and came back to it in retirement, just because it made him feel something.Or Dylana and Sarah, who took our family (and a camera crew) through the archery basics without a hint of condescension, even when we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. This is what makes this program work: not the gear or the branding — but the people. These instructors aren't reciting from a script. They believe in this stuff. And they're patient enough to help you believe in it too. The Outdoors Is Not a Vibe. It's a Reset Button. We talk a lot about “disconnecting” these days. But for most people, that still means standing around staring at your phone with a different background. This wasn't that. Out at Lake Nockamixon, even with raindrops on the camera lens and a soggy hoodie, things felt clearer. Dahlia learned how to shoot a bow. Crystal got advice on safety lines and string tension from someone who could probably teach blindfolded. We paddled. We laughed. We dried off. We reset. You don't have to be “outdoorsy” to do this. That's the point. These programs are built for beginners. You don't need to own anything. You don't need to know what you’re doing. You just need to show up. “Even if you’ve never been to a lake before,” Lindsey told us, “we want you to feel like this is a place for you.” It is. Why This Stuff Matters We asked about accessibility. They talked about the ADA-accessible boat launch and helping kids from the Boys & Girls Club feel safe getting in the water for the first time. We asked about skill levels. They said they welcome people who've never touched a paddle and also offer sea kayaking, rescue courses, and night paddles under the full moon. We asked about groups. They've worked with Girl Scouts, bachelor parties, corporate team-building retreats, and even entire families who want to do something different for their reunion. So yeah, this is recreation. But it's also something bigger. This is how you build confidence in kids. This is how you reconnect with your spouse. This is how you remember what it feels like to be out of your head for a while. And if all you take home is a few mosquito bites and a blurry photo of your first bullseye, honestly? That's still a win. On this week's episode, Ariel is joined by the duo behind Weezie Towels, Liz Eichholz and Lindsey Johnson. Launched in 2018, Weezie Towels is not only our favorite brand for gorgeous towels, but also a true embodiment of a modern, luxury direct to consumer brand with a big heart. Weezie's origin story is the stuff of lore: Newly married, Liz had a lackluster experience looking for embroidered towels. She approached her long-time friend Lindsey, and the two agreed that there was a gap in the market. They hit the ground running to modernize this niche space, eventually introducing the world to Weezie. Liz, Weezie's Creative Director, was born and raised in Austin, Texas. After receiving a BFA in graphic design from the University of Georgia, she spent five years in New York working in creative, including at Uncommon Goods and Bustle before moving to Savannah, GA with her husband and three children. Managing the business side, CEO Lindsey spent her childhood with stops around the US, before attending Vanderbilt for undergrad, and then Columbia Business School. She spent almost a decade in New York City, before planting roots in Atlanta with her husband and three children. With fifteen years of friendship, and over five years at Weezie (plus six kids between the two of them!), Liz and Lindsey constantly inspire us here, and hopefully you too, as you listen in on the conversation about entrepreneurship in the design world.—Start your own collection of Weezie Towels: https://weezietowels.com/ and use the code TALKSHOP15 for 15% off your entire order.   I am so super excited to share my most recent podcast with Lindsey Johnson, co-founder and CEO of one of my most favorite brands - Weezie Towels. Lindsey tells us the story of how she and her co-founder Liz built Weezie Towels into one of the fastest growing luxury towel brands and has won the support and like from people like Gwentyth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon. But just like any start up story, it took an incredible amount of hard work, grit and perseverance to get to where they are today. In our conversation, we start at the very beginning where Lindsey tells us about her career in the financial industry in NYC where she was on track to end up in venture capital. However, while at Columbia Business School, her best friend Liz approached her about starting a towel company. Lindsey was skeptical at first but after a year and half of customer research and product development, Lindsey agreed with Liz that there was a hole in the market. They officially launched Weezie Towels in 2018 and were off to the races. Fast forward almost 5 years, they have hit several major milestones such as opening their first brick and mortar in Atlanta, growing their team to 60 people and expanding into other products such as bath robes, baby towels, and beach towels. I can't wait for you all to learn more about their inspiring story. And before we dive into the interview, Lindsey was kind enough to provide the listeners with a 15% discount off weezie towel purchases – you can use the code HighFive15

The company, which makes luxury bath towels along with other bathroom-related products like bathrobes and bathmats, has seen year-over-year growth and said late last year that it was on track to hit eight figures in revenue in 2021. "The bath towel is the hero product of Weezie, and we are going to stay in that world," Johnson said. According to Johnson, what has helped Weezie grow is the company's relatively conservative approach to growth. Other than a seed round, Weezie has remained bootstrapped -- and it's been very intentional about every expansion or new sales channel into which it's dived. Some of that is because of the very nature of the business. Weezie offers custom embroidered towels -- all of which are made and fulfilled in its own U.S.-based facility. Scaling such an operation is difficult, to say the least. "[Wholesale] is something we've always struggled with... because customization is such a big part of the business," she said. "While, of course, our products are wonderful on their own, it doesn't tell the whole story." Now, thanks to growth from the last few years, Johnsons is trying to figure out how to grow these channels while remaining true to Weezie's roots. Meanwhile, she's also trying to figure out where to expand to next geographically. Weezie currently has one store in Atlanta, which she says has been a successful sales driver and brand booster. With that, Johnson is also thinking about opening more stores, but added "it's not in the near-term roadmap." Put together, Johnson has big plans for the next few months -- but is also trying to make sure Weezie stays by its North Star. "I think it's a big year of just investing in the future," she said.

Is there a strategy that members commonly bring up? Your very own Sales Maven, Nikki Rausch, is here to offer tips, techniques, and strategies to master your sales conversations. Discover methods to place yourself in the position to thrive in business and produce true value for your audience. Today, understand which strategy gets the most pushback from the Sales Maven Society during this episode of the Sales Maven Show. Sometimes a business strategy or structure is flexible enough where you can customize the approach to your own business, but other times it's best to simply follow the recipe given. Naturally, there are scenarios where entrepreneurs aren't fully doing the requirements of a strategy while claiming it doesn't work. This is the case for the Three Times technique taught by Nikki. This process is used when you want to move a client or prospect from communicating through email to getting on a live call. In today's episode, Nikki explains the pushback she commonly hears towards the Three Times technique, and showcases why the technique works. Basically, the technique requires entrepreneurs to send three time suggestions to a client or prospect. Listen as Nikki talks about why it's important to send specific suggestions rather than a calendar link, how not following the technique could push clients away, and what cases it's okay to rely on a calendar link. Our last episode of Augustation Libation is: As Luck Would Have It! This is our most Mc-Serious episode which is fitting since it's set in Ireland. This episode stars the lovely JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Lindsey Johnson and the Irish Eyes of Brennan O'Brien played by Allen Leech. Lindsey is an American real estate developer who's trying to purchase a historic castle in Kilabbey which is Brennan's hometown. He's not going to make it easy for her and neither is the town council (who bear a strong resemblance to a bunch of high school mean girls )! In this episode we cover alleged goat shenanigans, overuse our favorite Irish catchall phrase and discuss what we think about speed dating (a little bit yes and a little bit no).  We also channel our inner Lucky Charms Leprechaun with a bunch of bad accents and hope you forgive us because As Luck Would Have It, we have the best listeners and that's also the name of this week's movie.
