Pressure reveals who you really are as a leader. Brian Aquart, Vice President of Workforce and Community Education at Northwell Health, shares how a defining moment during the first wave of COVID reshaped his understanding of purpose, responsibility, and ethical leadership. Deploying staff into high-risk areas forced him to wrestle with the weight of decisions that could either expose people to harm or help save lives.  You'll hear how Brian moved from chasing titles to chasing impact, why principles at the top prevent chaos across 100,000+ employees, and how values must be embedded—not just stated—to withstand pressure. From education initiatives that change life trajectories to his belief that compassion drifts first when guardrails disappear, this conversation will challenge you to examine how you show up when it matters most. Brian Aquart is a healthcare executive, advisor, and storyteller whose work sits at the intersection of leadership, workforce development, and human transition. He currently serves as Vice President of Workforce & Community Education at Northwell Health, where he helps design and scale education-to-career pathways that strengthen communities and future-ready systems.  He is also the creator and host of Why I Left, a podcast exploring the pivotal moments when leaders choose to evolve, and the founder of Storyline by Kingswood, where he works with executives and organizations to develop narrative clarity, strengthen leadership presence, and align how they show up with the impact they want to make. What's possible when you start with just a small bit of earth—and a love of flowers rooted in childhood stories? In today's episode, I'm joined by Fawn Rueckert, founder of Sego Lily Flower Farm, a thriving suburban flower farm growing on just one-third of an acre in Utah's Salt Lake Valley.Fawn's journey into flower farming began long before her first seed tray—from listening to The Secret Garden as a child to learning from generations of women who gardened before her. What started as a backyard cutting garden evolved into a farmers market business, a regional cut flower plug program serving over 100 growers, hands-on education for backyard gardeners, and leadership as a founding member and president of the Utah Cut Flower Farm Association. In this conversation, we talk about growing cut flowers in small spaces, knowing when to pivot as your business evolves, and why community matters so deeply in flower farming. We also dig into lisianthus—a flower many growers struggle to start from seed—including what it really needs to germinate, why it's so slow, and when it makes sense to grow from seed versus buying plugs.Whether you're growing on an eighth of an acre, dreaming of your first farmers market, or just trying to grow better lisianthus this season, this episode will leave you inspired to try what's possible—right where you are.Links Sego Lily Flower FarmWebsite: https://www.segolilyflowerfarm.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/segolilyflowerfarm/ Snuck Flowers at Snuck FarmWebsite: https://snuckfarm.com/pages/snuck-flowers The Backyard Cut Flower Garden Coursehttps://snuckfarm.com/products/backyard-cut-flower-garden-course-in-collaboration-with-sego-lily-flower-farm-spring-2026 Utah Cut Flower Farm AssociationWebsite: https://www.utahflowerfarms.comSign up for our podcast newsletter: https://bit.ly/thefloweringfarmhousenewsletterJoin Us At The Profitable Dahlia SummitThe first-ever virtual summit focused exclusively on growing dahlias for profit is here!Join us March 3–4, 2026 to learn from experienced dahlia growers who are selling bouquets, tubers, CSA shares, event tickets, and more — and doing it profitably. You'll walk away with real strategies to turn your passion into income, even if you're just getting started.Save your spot here: https://thefloweringfarmhouse.mykajabi.com/profitabledahiliasummit/

Transdermal estrogen in the form of a patch, gel, or cream is often the preferred delivery method for menopausal hormone therapy. Unlike oral estrogen, in addition to other advantages, transdermal estrogen does not increase the risk of blood clots.  But a new study, published in the journal Menopause, indicates that your transdermal estrogen… may not be doing what you think it's doing. Today, I am speaking with one of the authors of that study, Dr. Louise Newson.  My Substack post summarizing the study:  https://drstreicher.substack.com/p/is-your-estrogen-patch-gel-or-spray?r=740mq Link to article: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39689249/ We discuss: The advantages of transdermal estrogen The realization that blood levels of transdermal estrogen may be below what is expected What the study looked at Results of the study What factors may cause decreased absorption of transdermal estrogen Why decreased levels of estrogen are problematic Ways to maximize absorption Options if serum estrogen levels are low on standard doses of transdermal estrogen Concerns of using a higher than standard dose The pushback in the UK regarding Dr. Newson's work If it should be routine to measure blood levels of estrogen if using a transdermal product For more information on Dr. Newson, visit DrLouise Newson.com Dr. Streicher is on SUBSTACK      DrStreicher.Substack.com Articles Monthly newsletter All COME AGAIN podcast episodes Monthly News Flash Reports on recent research  Monthly Zoom Ask Me Anything Webinar Lauren Streicher, MD is a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, the founding medical director of the Northwestern Medicine Center for Sexual Medicine and Menopause, and a Senior Research Fellow of The Kinsey Institute, Indiana University.
