The 1st of August 1798 saw the British fleet sailing towards Alexandria into a land of classical history and mythology, the sun setting like blood over the River Nile and French flags flying over the city. The scene could not be more perfectly suited to the cataclysmic battle that would soon take place there, in which Horatio Nelson would guild his legend forever. Charged with leading a squadron of fourteen ships into the Mediterranean to find Napoleon Bonaparte and his vast fleet, Nelson had chased him all the way to Alexandria which the French had seized along with the rest of Egypt. At last, lookouts spot the masts of Napoleon's ships - a moment of near transcendent excitement for Nelson and the men of his fleet. At last, it seemed, the moment had come for their battle of total annihilation in all its gore and glory. Wary of this, the French commanders urged Bonaparte to withdraw, but in his hubris the French general refused. So it was that the greatest naval battle of the 18th century began, to the thunder of cannons, screaming sailors, and the chaos of gun smoke, soot, splinters and blood…. Join Dominic and Tom as they describe one of the most decisive and dramatic moments of both naval history and Horatio Nelson's life: the Battle of the Nile. _______ Twitter: @TheRestHistory @holland_tom @dcsandbrook Producer: Theo Young-Smith Assistant Producer: Tabby Syrett Executive Producers: Jack Davenport + Tony Pastor Learn more about your ad choices. My conversation today, is with advisory board member Essence of Africa Leanne Heigh.  Our chat today will explore the inspiration behind this exciting project, what sets it apart from other travel shows, and the key factors driving its success. Leanne shares her insights on the gaps in the market, the unique African business environment, and why quality meetings and global buyers are at the heart of Essence of Africa. Profile I arrived in Africa in February 1994 as a young backpacker, I stayed on as a Tour Leader and within a frighteningly short period was managing the largest overland truck company on the continent. In November of 2013, my husband James and I were asked to become joint CEOs of Tourvests operations in East Africa, Tourvest had just bought out the minority shareholders. It also coincided with the worst trading period in the history of East African tourism as the industry reeled from terror attacks and then ebola outbreaks.   Tourvest emerged stronger from these events and restructured. I remained as CEO for the Lemala and Adrift brands which have since evolved into a group of 10 properties operating in Tanzania and Uganda, and an exciting activity brand offering exhilarating adventures on the River Nile. We are all incredibly proud of the team members that make up the #spiritoflemala and the positive impact that our tourism work has on our staff, their families and the communities from which they are drawn. Lemala is a happy place and I am proud to play my part in its work.

Saved And Loved

In conclusion, in Genesis, the Israelites gave themselves to the Egyptian Pharaoh to become his slaves to survive the harsh famine in the land. We now begin the book of Exodus. The Hebrews lived in captivity in Egypt as slaves for 400 years. God heard the cries of Hebrew slaves and set a plan to free them from Pharaoh. Pharaoh became concerned that the Hebrews grew in numbers and multiplied exceedingly. He then decreed that all Hebrew firstborn males be killed while allowing their daughters to live. The midwives obeyed God and did not kill the male babies. God blessed the midwives with their own families. Moses' mother hid baby Moses for a little while until she could no longer hide him. She made a basket to put Moses in it and then placed the basket in the River Nile. Pharaoh's daughter saw the basket and the baby and decided to raise Moses as her child. She also called Moses' real mother to nurse him and pay her wages. God ordained this story to protect Moses from Pharaoh's death mandate and place him directly under Pharaoh's household. This amazing story and the book of Exodus are crucial for understanding our times and how to react when the elites enact unethical mandates.Video at https://youtu.be/KCJ4npvPFdYArticle at https://www.savedandloved.com/post/140-exodus-1-2-birth-of-moses***********Support MrE and his channel at:Apocalypse Watchman by MrE, https://www.bitchute.com/channel/apocalypse_watchman/MrE, https://odysee.com/@MrE:cDonate to MrE at PayPal.me/mrehistoryPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/mremedia***********Multiple ways to support my work:My books: https://www.savedandloved.com/shopDonate to my site: https://www.savedandloved.com/donateBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/savedandlovedDonate at Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SavedAndLoved31

Two Fishes from the River Nile by Prophet Allyson Michael D'Espyne  For families who have found out the truth of their past generations, Jesus is saying thank you to you, for now you will be able to rest in the soul of Jesus. Longer life will be given to you, so that you will be and will become a light that will burn for generations to come. The memories of innocence far outweigh the torments of this world. The love of Jesus grows deeper in your bellies, as your sufferings increase. To families who have to take their loved ones to and from hospitals, because they have lost limbs, Jesus is saying your fruit from the tree of life awaits you. The pain of love that is shared in homes that do everything to the limit of the love of Jesus in setting higher standards, your fruit from the tree of life awaits you. Your prayers may not have been answered in the time that you desired, but your fruit from the tree of life awaits you.The blessings of Jesus though rich and powerful will not elude you because of pitfalls. An impassioned heart is a fervent heart. To wear the face of an eagle, as the beast that stands before the throne of God saying Holy, Holy, Holy is to have tremendous power on the face of the earth. This gift will be one of great miracles, which have never been seen, since the habitation of Our Lord Jesus. The Glory of Jesus, whose garments were dipped in his blood by the Holy Ghost will be worn by him on his return to the earth. The coming of Jesus will be fierce.Prophet Allyson Michael D'Espyne is a non-denominational Holy Spirit Teacher.  He is a hymnist who sings and writes all his songs and lives in Shreveport, Louisiana.https://www.amazon.com/Fishes-Prophet-Allyson-Michael-DEspyne/dp/1953839789/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2AEN1OYFC4S8Z&keywords=9781953839787&qid=1668452226&s=books&sprefix=9781953839787%2Cstripbooks%2C268&sr=1-1https://workbookpress.com/http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/111722wbp1.mp3

Exodus 20:2-4 “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.” The Ten Commandments are remarkable in many ways but possibly the most amazing fact is that they are so short. Since they were delivered to Moses, governments have laid down tens of millions of laws, but these ten commandments offer us the solid foundation for any society which wants to build its life in a godly and sustainable way. Whichever way you say the word, ‘commandments' don't sound jolly! They sound severe and restrictive, so we need to remind ourselves of those words with which they begin. God reminds his people that he is their saviour and was the one who led them miraculously out of Egypt. It was because of his love for them that he gave them these laws, which would ensure that they would continue to be blessed. Any loving parent will put in place very clear rules and boundaries for their children, in order to ensure that they thrive and live safely. God is no different, and has given us these foundational rules so that we can enjoy life to the full. The first two commandments demanded that the people should only worship the one true God. There were plenty of other gods on offer in Moses' time and the people knew it. The Israelites had lived in Egypt for 400 years and would have been familiar with the many gods that were worshipped in that land. The Pharaohs were believed to the sons of the sun god, Rah. Indeed, every part of life was dominated by different gods. They worshipped the River Nile and honoured Apis, the chief god of Memphis, in the form of a sacred bull. They also worshipped Serapis, who defended the land against locusts. On all sides they were offered gods they could follow but God demanded exclusive worship. Our society is also full of gods. There are not only innumerable other religions and philosophies but our material possessions, ambitions, careers, hobbies or sports can be just as demanding in calling for our commitment and devotion. But God alone deserves our worship. We need to build our homes, communities and nations on this foundation principle. If we are to build our lives on the Ten Commandments, this is where we have to begin. Question: In what ways do these first two commandments shape your life? Prayer: Lord God, help me to give you the first place in my life. Amen

Elsy Wameyo - "River Nile" from the 2022 Nilotic EP on Music in Exile. Over the past few years, Nairobi-born, Adelaide-based artist Elsy Wameyo has made a name for herself in hip-hop, garnering both the Young Kenyan of the Year award in 2018, and the People's Choice Best Hip Hop Award at the annual South Australian Music Awards in 2019. Her debut EP, titled Nilotic, is a tribute to her indigenous roots to the people of the Nile Valley who speak Nilotic languages. In a press release, she explains that today's Song of the Day is an exploration of her newfound strength. “‘River Nile' was a revelation, a turning point that led me to understand who I truly am. I had been so weak, fighting a battle that was never mine. This song came about after I learnt how to strategically use the power within. I journeyed with this song to find a place of rest. I reached a level where I no longer had to work. Instead, I used the forces around me to gain altitude. The moment I found it, it was game over for everyone else.” Read the full story at KEXP.orgSupport the show: https://www.kexp.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Judith Bunbury on the shifting River Nile in the time of the Pharaohs

Think Sahara Desert, think intense heat and drought. We see the Sahara as an unrelenting, frazzling, white place. But geo-archaeologist Dr Judith Bunbury says in the not so distant past, the region looked more like a safari park. In the more recent New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, from around 3.5 thousand years ago (the time of some of Egypt's most famous kings like Ahmose I, Thutmose III, Akhenaten, Tutankhamun and queens like Hatshepsut) evidence from core samples shows evidence of rainfall, huge lakes, springs, trees, birds, hares and even gazelle, very different from today. By combining geology with archaeology, Dr Bunbury, from the department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge and Senior Tutor at St Edmund's College, tells Jim Al-Khalili that evidence of how people adapted to their ever-changing landscape is buried in the mud, dust and sedimentary samples beneath these ancient sites, waiting to be discovered. With an augur (like a large apple corer), Judith and her team take core samples (every ten metre sample in Egypt reveals approximately 10,000 years of the past) and then read the historical story backwards. A model of the topography, the environment, the climate and the adapting human settlements can then be built up to enrich the historical record. The core samples contain chipped stones which can be linked directly to the famous monuments and statues in the Valley of the Kings. There are splinters of amethyst from precious stone workshops, tell-tale rubbish dumped in surrounding water as well as pottery fragments which can be reliably time-stamped to the fashion-conscious consumers in the reign of individual Pharaohs. The geo-archaeological research by Judith and her team, has helped to demonstrate that the building of the temples at Karnak near Luxor, added to by each of the Pharaohs, was completely dependent on the mighty Nile, a river which, over millennia, has wriggled and writhed, creating new land on one bank as it consumes land on another. Buildings and monuments were adapted and extended as the river constantly changed course. And Judith hopes the detailed, long-range climate records and models we already have, can be enriched with this more detailed history of people, their settlements and their activities within a changing landscape and this will contribute to our ability to tackle climate change.
