This week, we are celebrating the release of the new revised and expanded edition of Everybody Matters: The Extraordinary Power of Caring for Your People Like Family, Barry-Wehmiller Chairman Bob Chapman and Raj Sisodia's book on Bob and Barry-Wehmiller's journey to Truly Human Leadership. On today's podcast, we want to share a story of Bob and the book's impact on one particular leader. Jason Lippert is the President and CEO of Lippert Components, a global supplier of a broad array of highly engineered components for the leading manufacturers of recreational vehicles, automobiles, watercraft and prefab homes. They also operate in adjacent markets, including hospitality, transportation, construction and agriculture. Lippert and Barry-Wehmiller are very similar in size, both are on their third generation of family leadership. And they both have similar values when it comes to stewarding the lives in their span of care. On this episode, I have a conversation with Jason about his leadership journey. How he became a Truly Human Leader and what that meant for Lippert Components. How they approach leadership and personal development. How they approach community service and why that's important to their company culture. We also talk about the impact Bob and Everybody Matters had on his leadership and his company.

Today I am speaking with a representative from RV supplier Lippert Components about opportunities for Workampers to make a difference wherever they travel by helping non-profit organizations. Michilah Grimes is the director of corporate and community impact for Lippert Components. The company is well known for the plethora of products it makes for RVs. Today, the firm wants to give back in a big way. The company started seRV With Purpose in the fall of 2022 to help civic-minded RVers give back to the communities which hosted them for a season. It's an ideal program for Workampers who are often in the same area for extended periods of time. Working with its brand ambassadors, Lippert reached out to non-profit groups across the county to supply volunteer labor for a variety of projects. Volunteers engage in big projects, like building nature habitats, to smaller activities like making encouraging cards for service members and people in nursing homes. The group also organizes blood drives and opportunities to support local food banks. The company's brand ambassadors, who are often full-time RVers, reach out to local nonprofit organizations in communities they visit asking if there was a way RVers could help. It could be for 30 minutes to a few hours, or all day or multiple days. Each project is different. Once an opportunity is identified, it is posted on the seRV With Purpose website indicating the date and time and any other requirements or special information RVers need to know. There is often plenty of time for Workampers to coordinate travel and days off to be able to participate in the project. Projects that involve working around kids require participants to complete a background check, but most projects do not have that requirement. So far this year, more than 1,000 volunteers have donated 2,300 hours of their time to assist with 45 events. More events are planned for the rest of the year. There is no cost to participate, and some events allow children and teenagers to serve with their parents. Workampers who may not be able to participate in the on-site events, can still take part in monthly challenges, which are different every month. For example, in July, individual volunteers are challenged to collect donations for local thrift stores. In August, they are asked to volunteer at a local animal shelter. For more information about the monthly challenges and seRV With Purpose volunteer events scheduled to take place around the country, visit www.servwithpurpose.com. There Workampers can find a map of planned events scheduled along with the dates and times. Lippert Components also set up a special seRV With Purpose Facebook group to promote the opportunities. This sounds like a great way for Workampers to connect with other RVers as well as local residents. Be sure to check out the website to see how and where you can help. Today I am speaking with the staff of a resort in northern Washington State about Workamping opportunities near North Cascades National Park. Anthony Katsonis owns Silverline Lakeside Resort near Winthrop, Wash., and Mary Schardein is the manager this summer. The 83-site campground also features an apartment, several rental trailers and a glamping tent. The campground is looking for Workampers, especially a couple, to work immediately through October. Typically, Silverline Resort hires six Workampers a year, and they are cross-trained to do multiple jobs. Workampers hired to do maintenance water the grass every day, handle plumbing and electrical issues, bundle firewood and keep the mowers and golf carts operating. They also serve people who rent the campground's equipment, such as kayaks, jet skis, canoes and powerboats. Housekeepers ensure the rentals are cleaned after someone stays in them, then make sure the restrooms and showerhouse remain clean and tidy. Inside the office, Workampers help with reservations and staffing the camp store. On Saturdays and Sundays, Workampers help serve all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausages in the restaurant. Photo of the Katsonis family, who owns Silverline Lakeside Resort in Winthrop, Wash. The 40-year-old campground attracts a lot of families, as well as people who love outdoor activities, like boating, fishing and hunting. The jobs usually start in April and continue through October, but Silverline Resort has an immediate opening for a Workamper this summer. All the jobs are paid at a rate of $16.82 per hour, and Workampers are considered W-2 employees. At the end of the season, Workampers who complete their agreement receive a $1 per hour bonus for every hour worked. That can add up to a nice sum. Workampers typically put in 30 to 40 hours per week, per person. Depending upon experience, an RV site may be provided free of charge, otherwise, Workampers would work five to 10 hours per week in exchange for an RV site. The campground is in a remote part of Washington, however, Verizon cell phone service is often available. Workampers have access to internet service, but it may not always accommodate the ability to stream video content. The closest Walmart is one hour away in the city of Omak; however, there are more shopping and entertainment options available two hours away in Wenatchee, Wash. The historic Bavarian-themed city of Leavenworth is a short distance from Wenatchee. Seattle is about four hours away, as is Vancouver, British Columbia. Anacortes and the islands of Puget Sound are about three hours away. But, North Cascades National Park is only an hour away, and Anthony said it is not a really busy park, so there are lots of outdoor things to do there. If you love to fish, have fun on the water, and be outdoors, then this will be a wonderful opportunity for you. Anthony said he's especially looking for team players who like to come up with ideas to increase revenue, cut expenses and improve overall guest experience by making the resort more efficient. This is Mary's final season with Silverline Lakeside Resort, so Anthony will be looking for someone to step into the management position in 2025. He is also open to talking with Workampers who would like to work during the winter helping to keep the apartment available to rent. For more information about the park, visit www.silverlineresort.com or call 509-724-9924. To apply, send a resume to info@silverlineresort.com. Today's episode is sponsored by Workamper News. Today I am interviewing a couple from California who retired from the U.S. Navy and hit the road in search of adventure. Along the way, they found unique ways to serve people in the communities they visit. Kevin and Tabitha Maser have been RVing for almost three years, and they have been Workamping the entire time. The couple loves to serve as camp hosts. They have worked for county parks, large resorts and they really enjoy working for private, family-run RV parks. However, they have also held other jobs, such as working for the beet harvest in Michigan. They tend to pick a location they'd like to visit, then look for suitable jobs in that area. Many times, those jobs come with pay and a free RV site. Yet, the Masers also create opportunities to serve others wherever they go. They work with a group established by Lippert Components called seRV With Purpose. It creates meaningful opportunities to connect RVers with local non-profit organizations to engage in purpose-driven volunteerism. During their first event, Kevin and Tabitha joined other volunteers to help create a nature trail at the RV park where they were staying. They enjoyed the experience so much, the Masers became seRV With Purpose ambassadors and orchestrated two events last month in the Carolinas. At those events, the Masers worked to pack up food for a local food pantry in Wilmington, N.C. Then, in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple helped to run the ShamROCK ‘N Run half-marathon. They will soon be headed back to Traverse City, Mich., to finish work on a nature trail project they started in 2023. Kevin and Tabitha also plan to make cards for kids suffering from long-term illnesses as well as working with a group which provides equine therapy to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. Being in the U.S. Navy for many years, the Masers traveled around the world and lived in Hawaii, but discovered some truly spectacular places to visit in the United States, especially in Michigan, where they were never more than six miles away from water. Kevin and Tabitha took time off from their schedules to compete in Season 2 of RV Unplugged, which premiers May 29th at 7 p.m. Eastern. They will be hosting weekly watch parties at the Holiday RV Park in Traverse City, but also plan to attend the finale Aug. 5 to 8 at Camp Margaritaville in Auburn, Fla. To prepare for boondocking for an extended period of time, the Masers installed two Ecoflow Delta Pro battery packs and a smart generator to create 7,000 watts of power. They live in a 38-foot Alliance fifth wheel because of all the living space it offers. Although they have faced challenges on the road, they learned to fix many common problems with their rig by attending an RV Fundamentals class offered by the National RV Training Academy in Texas. People can connect with Kevin and Tabitha on Instagram and Facebook by searching for “he she and a husky.” Today's episode is sponsored by Workamper News. I'll have that interview on the next episode of The Workamper Show. Thanks for listening!

In Episode 106 Eric Stark reminds anyone who owns a motorhome to make sure they are maintaining the Engine and Chassis and not neglecting it because the focus has been on the house portion. Eric also points out that at least an hour a month is a good amount of time to set aside to maintain your RV. Then he and Alexis in The Next Stop highlight the activities for RV'ers in Hocking Hills Ohio. Living the RV Life: How long should you spend on RV maintenance? RV ownership comes with many responsibilities, one of which is regularly maintaining your RV. How often you need to perform maintenance tasks will depend on how often you use your RV, but as a general rule, it is a good idea to dedicate at least one hour per month to RV maintenance. This will help to ensure that your RV stays in good condition and does not develop any serious problems. During your RV maintenance session, you should check all the fluid levels, test the batteries, inspect the tires, and clean the exterior and interior of the RV. By taking these simple steps, you can help to keep your RV in good shape and extend its lifespan. Staying On The Road: Motorhomes need maintenance too, All too Often We Forget About the Engine and Chassis The chassis and engine of a motorhome are all too often forgotten about and neglected. In this episode, Eric reminds the Smart RVer to pay attention to the chassis and avoid repairs that are caused by neglect. Taking care of the house is great but the chassis and engine need some love too. The Next Stop: Hocking Hills. A serene, natural, and peaceful getaway! If you have seen a boat rising out of the water as it gets on plane and seemingly gliding above it, you have seen hydrofoiling in effect! Hydrofoils have been used in high technology applications like the Americas Cup races for years and have recently been applied to recreational craft including smaller runabouts and even surfboards! I have been interested in learning more about foiling on the water, why they are used, what benefits they provide, and how they work. Luckily, I had a chance to speak with Tom Ward, founder of Epoch Boats. Epoch Boats is helping usher in a new era in boating by building accessible hydrofoiling boats that are efficient, eco-friendly, and high performance. Their first class of boats is a skiff series that will be introduced in the middle of 2022. Tom broke into the marine industry as an engineer for SeaStar Solutions where he rose to Director of Engineering and managed a fleet of test boats. He transitioned to Lippert Components where he also held the role of Director of Engineering before deciding to strike out on his own. Tom has also served on the ABYC Tech Board and is a wealth of knowledge about everything that makes boats work. We talked about growing up around boats and sailing, his experiences at SeaStar and Lippert, I got a great education on hydrofoils, and we discussed what Epoch is coming to market with. Enjoy!

Learn how to mentally restructure your life events so you can interpret them in more adaptive ways. This will help you navigate and persist. Championship Mindset Training | MidWeek Mental Rep Activate those three Cs of hardiness in your life. In those moments when you feel like quitting or when it feels insurmountable, press pause and write down those three Cs and activate a sense of control, a perspective of challenge and a desire of commitment towards who you are, what you're doing and why you're doing what you're doing. STANDOUT QUOTES “I feel like that's a recurring theme. All these studies that we're talking about often leads to better mental and physical health.” -Dr. Amber Selking [05:06] “Let's not pretend like nobody ever gets hurt and make people feel bad when they do get hurt and tell them to suck it up. That's not what we do in sport. We send them to the training room. They have surgery. They go to the doctor. They do rehab and then guess what, they're back at it. That's what clinical counseling and psychology can do when we get beat up, because we need that. But how do we continue to train and wire our brains like being in the weight room as an athlete? To cultivate the elements that we know drive high performance? And hardiness is one of them.” -Dr. Amber Selking [07:42] “When these three Cs in some combination come together of control, of challenge, of commitment, we're able to be hardy even when it's most difficult in our lives. ” -Dr. Amber Selking [13:18] “Success means having the courage, the determination and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. That person doesn't become when things are always good and easy. Most often, that person becomes in the light of challenge, in the midst of difficulty, in a season of pain and despair.” -Dr. Amber Selking [15:51] Please get on iTunes to rate us and write a review for us!
