There's never a dull moment when The Doc is on call at two hospitals. This week he takes us through two cases. The first is an early morning call from a patient in the ER with a torsion, or twisted testicle. Should The Doc rush over there or was it too late? Then he gets a call about a 93 year-old woman with a potentially fatal condition that is easily treated with a standard procedure, but she has a DNR. The Doc gives his advice but ultimately it's up to the family. All this plus the regular distractions and jokes from the peanut gallery. In the third part of their conversation, Gail Acaster returns to talk to Paul about the wonder of the world around us, and the concept of spirit - where it resides, and how it can be found inside us all. KEY TAKEAWAYS Spirit is the force that keeps us unique - that sets us apart - and that can be called upon as a resource when we need it. Communication is not just a one way street. We must pay attention and attempt to listen effectively, so that we do not misunderstand or misconstrue. We should always focus on the here and now instead of thinking too much about what might come next. We only get one ride out in life. We must think of life's journey with gratitude - we must reframe defeat as a lesson learned. We can produce positivity from darkness. BEST MOMENTS 'Spirit is all around us' 'Listen and be present!' That's when The Doc got the call. Turns out this was no easy task. The Doc takes us through it (and unfortunately for us shows us some pictures). As I was preparing notes for this episode, God reminded me that in many of the things we pray for there is a period of waiting. Even when God has spoken a word over our lives that will be sure to come to pass, it may not be as quick to come or instantaneous as we expect or want it to. Tony Evans stated that "waiting on God does not mean doing nothing. It means not going outside of his will while you do something." Even though we may know these things, it is hard especially when situations or circumstances occur (much like 2020) that we can not understand. It may appear as though God is not still working out his divine, perfect plan, or that God has gone back on his word. This week, God took me through the book of Habakkuk to remind me that it is okay to go back to God with our questions, concerns, and requests especially when we get to this place of confusion or doubt. Join me as I share what God has been uncovering concerning requests. My prayer is that you, too, would be reminded that God's word WILL come to pass despite what your eyes may see and perceive. I pray you recieve a fresh perspective from God!Visit podcast website (https://powerfulfreechosen.buzzsprout.com) for the links belowSongs:-Promises by Maverick City Music-A God like you by Kirk Franklin-Man of your word by Maverick City Music-Holy Ghost by Maverick City MusicVerses'Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.'1 Thessalonians 5:16-18'Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord . Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.'Psalms 5:3'“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 'Matthew 18:19'And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.'1 John 5:14-15'So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 'Hebrews 4:14-16'Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.'Proverbs 3:5-6

Lately, President Donald Trump’s speeches and tweets have become more pointed and divisive as he attempts to appeal to members of his base. There are four crucial months until election day and the president is spending them emphasizing racial divisions and defending symbols of white supremacy. The move is at odds with a cultural moment of awareness about systemic racism and police brutality. Maya King, campaign 2020 reporting fellow at POLITICO, David Nakamura, White House reporter for The Washington Post, and Clare Malone, senior political writer at FiveThirtyEight share what they've observed in their reporting on the President's reelection bid. The killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis sparked an uprising for racial justice and renewed demands for police reform. Across the U.S., calls to defund the police and reinvest the funds into schools and mental health services have grown louder as the mission of police departments is reconsidered. Daniel Nichanian, founding editor, The Appeal: Political Report, shares where these proposals are taking place and whether or not it’s just a liberal city phenomenon. Plus, Cincinnati Council Member Chris Seelbach and founder of the Cincinnati Black United Front, Iris Roley reflect on the state of policing in their city and how effective their community-based model has been since it was enacted in the early 2000s.
