I've always loved learning. In high school, I would even leave my friends while we were partying to do homework as they shouted out “stoner nerd!” In college, I'd bring my books with me to the beach and spend most of the day reading with occasional dips in the ocean. I went on to go to graduate school (not just once!), including getting my doctorate. As a mom, I don't dig playing with dolls with my kid, but I'll spend a whole day exploring nature and taking field notes with her - easily.  You could say I'm a bit of a nerd. My obsession with learning was also accompanied by a desperate need to be perfect. To get all A's. To be the best. And while I enjoy learning (can you say FOUR graduate degrees?), it can be seriously exhausting to feel the need to be perfect about it at the same time. My nerdiness, along with a dollop of perfectionism, was actually the perfect recipe that kept me from learning and experiencing everything I had to do in my life to the fullest.  I didn't do anything unless I was virtually guaranteed not to fail, whether it was adventure sports, academics, careers, or which lover I pursued.  And just some hard truth here - perfectionism is for people who are scared. And I was scared. Of failing.  This contributes to classic perfectionist procrastination. When we think we have to hold back until something is perfect, we get an (often) unconscious bonus: If we “have” to wait for it to be perfect, to guarantee success, we never “have” to take action.  And therefore, we don't have to risk failing.  But living like this is ultimately exhausting and unsustainable. And it keeps us from growth and learning which - for us nerdy rebels, at least - is a major part of what makes life fun and meaningful.  So what are our options, rebels? Well, if we don't want to let go of perfectionism, in my opinion, then we need to change our definition of perfection. When we can see the imperfection as just part of the deal of being human - an inevitable part of the deal - then we can continue. We can keep moving towards our goals.  It's also important to remember that when we are creating in the world, what is important is that we are putting our gifts out there - not that it is perfect or that we were gloriously busy doing it. So, rebel, this week, what is that thing you've been putting off?  Pick a timeframe to create a result.  Then, be ok with it being perfectly imperfect. It ALL is anyway.  If shit isn't perfect (spoiler alert: it won't be), ask, “What did I learn? What will I do differently next time?”  Then move on to the next thing.  In this episode, you'll learn: // Accepting our perfectly imperfect nature // Shifting from temporary external motivation, (instant results/praise from others) to internal motivation and inspiration (kind of like what my mom was saying about the $20 for an A) // Seeing failure as a chance to learn - and not a signal to give up (like J.K. Rowling and my friend who couldn't get into medical school...the first four times) // Realizing that imperfection and failure are part of the deal of being human // Waking up to the fact that nobody cares how hard you worked or how long or how much you stressed over it...they just care that what you've done is out there!// Tips for being productive while being ok with the B work  Resources: // Check out my blogpost on How to Get Shit Done // If you're new to the squad, grab the starter kit I created at RebelBuddhist.com. The Coffee Run Ep605 - Pricing your programs Online programs and trainings have been around for a LONG time…but for some it's a brand new frontier for some. Perhaps you've been doing what you do in person, 1:1 or even in groups and events….. yet, what we know, with the latest lockdowns, cancellations and instability when it comes to doing things in the same ways you've been doing them…. the online options are looking better and better every day! The thing is though, is that many feel daunted. Should you do a 1 day online event. A week-long event. Shift to individual sessions online. Run a full program. An annual thing. What about zoom fatigue…is it a thing? What about running things on FB… even that seems unstable at the moment. Most resolve to do something online and in fact, welcome the thought of it. There are SO many platforms that make life easier to them these days…. And so you outline a course. Or an online event. You nut out the topics, the detail, the modules, the duration, the slides or the imagery. You work on the infrastructure, the key learnings, the outcomes. You work on who you want in there. You work on IT ALL. Ask me how I know this!!! Go on ;) Ok. I'll tell you (you knew I would!!). THIS WAS ME. In 2010 I had notebook after notebook of online courses, books, ideas, immersions, workshops and events (in person and online) that I wanted to run. AND THEN…. when it came to promoting it, I hit what felt like a huge wall. It wasn't that I wasn't confident about running them. I was. It wasn't that I was procrastinating… I didn't feel like I was. It wasn't that I didn't believe there'd be people out there who would buy. I believed it. I had NO IDEA how to price them. I mean, a book. Easy peasy. somewhere between $1 and $30 you're in the ballpark. But an ONLINE COURSE or an online event. Should I price it the same as an in person? (But my costs are less, so surely I ‘should' pass those on?). Early bird? Payment plan? Installments? HOW???? Price expensive? Offer 1:1's as part of it to increase the perceived value. Ugh. It was a mine field of doubt and uncertainty back then. And, for those o you who I've spoken to … it's still a topic fraught with doubt and uncertainty! We don't want to appear greedy but we want to ‘charge what we're worth'…. but how do you determine WHAT that is? How do we quantify it? Because we are WORTH A LIMITLESS AMOUNT OF FINANCIAL ABUNDANCE!!!! Limit.Less. No limits. So where do you start? 1. Ask yourself how much you WANT to charge. And then charge it :) hahah! That simple. 2. What feels ALIGNED for you to charge? Sometimes it can be $47, sometimes $5000 and sometimes more and sometimes less. You can charge whatever you want. 3. Do you BELIEVE, wholeheartedly that the value is in there at the price you want to set? If not, increase the value. If it is, WOOT! There you go. That's your price to start at. 4. This is going to sound weird… but do some muscle testing on the pricing. (you can google how to do it. It's simple and all you need is your body!!!!). 5. Don't worry about what anyone else in your industry is charging. They will have done the above steps for them, and that's their price. Not yours. Hope this helps! I shall see you tomorrow and of course, if you have questions let me know! Otherwise, get yourself out there, have fun doing it…. and Remember: The World Is Ready For Your Brand of Awesome!!!! Nic x We have the 4 week: IMPLEMENT LIKE A BOSS Challenge open for rego's. Every week day we get clear with your plan for the day. Make sure you know what you're working towards.. and then you get to the end of the day having achieved that! I've had tons of clients go through this and without exception every single of them tells they get MORE DONE. They have more clarity. They're more motivated….. and they actually have more time off!!!!

Kill Your Idols was an American hardcore punk band from New York, active from 1995 through 2007 and were signed to SideOneDummy Records. The band released many 7" EPs, splits with other bands (including Full Speed Ahead, Fisticuffs, Voorhees, Good Riddance, and Poison Idea), compilation tracks, and full-length LPs in their 11-year run. Most of their records were released on vinyl as well as compact disc. They cite Poison Idea, Negative Approach, Sheer Terror, Agnostic Front, Minor Threat, Warzone, Sick of It All, and 7 Seconds as some of their influences. KYI was very fast and had a loud, dirty, dual guitar sound with shouted vocals. They employed hints of melody in their song structure. Although they derived many of their influences from California and D.C. style hardcore, they were considered a New York hardcore band. I got Andy West on the Skype and this is what we chat about: Starting off as a Dead Head Was he a songwriter prior to starting the band Who started getting their tattoos What does he think about playing Long Island Playing every small town that they could Dealing with depression Always writing a ton of songs What are his thoughts on their new songs Their last show when they broke up The Webster Hall show And a ton more If you market aggressively on Instagram Stories and want custom stickers then go here to get custom stickers or just email mike@drive80.com and I can send you samples. Today's guests are Wendy and Tiffany, two sisters with a podcast called “Life After Fat Pants” talk about powerful transformation. Fat Pants is a metaphor for anything that we need to work on, transform, or let go of. Other people can want something for you, but until you're ready to work for it, it won't happen for you. Yes, they are sisters by blood, but they define sisterhood a little bit differently. For them, sisterhood is the female relationships in your life that stand the test of time. Tiffany and Wendy themselves went through a period of estrangement, but they were able to forgive and move past it. Wendy wrote “The Weight of It All”, which was inspired by the sisters' real-life experiences and celebrates the bond that they have. The women dive into the subject of powerful transformation, and how true transformation goes far beyond the physical. During a time of transformation, relationships expand and contract. It changes how you see yourself and the worth that you feel. Tiffany shares a lot about her surgery and weight loss. She has done therapy to work through what brought her to be overweight. It wasn't always easy, but she kept her faith in the process. During her weight loss journey, she weighed herself only once a month. It's important to remember that losing weight doesn't magically solve someone's problems. For Tiffany, it's been a process of dealing with what got her there. The message that Wendy leaves us with is about availing ourselves to change. We must be open to learning new things. Everything is a process and an evolution.  Life After Fat Pants Podcast: https://www.lifeafterfatpantspodcast.com/ Life After Fat Pants Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lifeafterfatpantspodcast/ My Balance Program: https://wellandworthylife.lpages.co/balance

And The Writer Is...with Ross Golan

Today’s guest took the world of country music by storm in 2015 with her critically acclaimed full-length debut, Untamed. The record not only bowed in the Top 15 of the Billboard Top 200 and registered at #2 on the Top Country Albums Chart, but it also yielded her double-platinum GRAMMY®, CMA and ACM-nominated smash single, "Burning House," which remains the bestselling country song by a female solo artist since its release in 2015. Since then, our guest has continued to thrive as both a songwriter and musician. She recently released her sophomore album, The Otherside and she’s lent her writing voice to Miley Cyrus' 2015 album, Bangerz, and co-wrote "Palace" with Sam Smith for his 2017 album, The Thrill of It All. She broke boundaries with her bold and empowering 2017 lead single, "Diane," and further showcased her range when she teamed up with Diplo for the genre-bending Thomas Wesley 2019 debut single, "So Long." She has consistently sold-out shows across the globe, cementing her status as an international powerhouse on stage. She performed alongside Sam Smith for 4 sold-out shows at the O2 Arena in London and joined him on his 2018 North American tour, opened for Harry Styles at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, delivered standout festivals sets including the coveted sunset slot at Stagecoach in 2019, headlined top venues across Europe and Australia, and performed a "game-changing" (Rolling Stone) debut-headline gig at The Ryman Auditorium. By taking risks and standing up for herself, our guest has continued to hustle and pave her own way. Today's episode is a revisit to a previously recorded episode from last year.Did you know that the way you see things can change in a split second if you are willing to change your perspective? Today's message - It all comes down to Perspective!HOW we see things affects WHAT we see Comes from what’s inside - what we “feed on” (faith vs fear; positive vs negative) Can depend on how close we are (is it a mountain or a molehill?) We can easily change our perspective by deciding to see things differently: Be willing to change our perspectiveStep back and see the big picture Look at through the eyes of another Look at it through the eyes of Jesus Same can be said for those things we face on the daily:job school a particular responsibility a relationship emotions - (frustration with someone) Making lifestyle changes going for a 5 mile walk Coronavirus isolation How are YOU looking at things? - It ALL comes down to perspective!Colossians 3 1-2 MSGSo if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. To get more information on the new Ready & WILLING! Season Three, Episode 1: Suicide, Silence, And What Comes Next In today’s episode I get to reconnect with R.R. Campbell, also known as Ryan Campbell. I can honestly say that this was one of my favorite conversations I have ever had while podcasting, and Ryan may very well be quickly becoming one of my favorite human beings. Our conversation starts with the power of words and what we should and shouldn’t say when discussing suicide and mental health issues. I am not a fan of tip-toe-ing around word choice and diction, because I believe intentions matter more. Ryan and I discuss what happens in the aftermath of a parent’s suicide attempt, the power of humor to get us through tough situations, and how to move forward after someone you love takes their own life. Spoiler alert: throwing yourself into your work – no matter how passionately you feel about your work – is just another form of escapism and/or addiction. Ryan (R.R.) Campbell is an International Book Awards finalist, the Craft Development Chair for the Wisconsin Writers Association, and the founder of the Writescast Network. His published novels include Accounting for It All and Imminent Dawn, which debuted as the number one new release for its genre on Amazon. Its sequel, Mourning Dove, is now available in print and ebook with most major retailers. Ryan has also been an instructor for the University of Wisconsin Continuing Studies in Writing program. He has been an invited speaker at conferences and seminars including the University of Wisconsin Writers’ Institute, Write by the Lake, UntitledTown, Lakefly Writers Conference, WisCon, and Great River Writes. His short-form fiction has been featured in Five:2:One Magazine’s #thesideshow, among others. Ryan lives in Stoughton, Wisconsin with his wife, Lacey, where they co-own and operate Kill Your Darlings Candle Company, which makes candles for the wordsmiths of the world. Author, researcher, mom, wife, inventor, coach, CEO…these are just a few of the roles my friend, Annie Grace, plays each day. You may have seen Annie on Good Morning America or in People Magazine because what she does is really revolutionary. And that’s why I asked her to speak at my 2 day event for boutique photographers, Go Boutique Live, last February. I wasn’t surprised when her program was one of the highest-rated, so I asked Annie if I could share some of the highlights on the podcast today for those of you who weren’t there with us in Texas. Of course she said yes! Annie’s best-known for teaching people how to have freedom in their relationship with alcohol. And her techniques will work to free yourself from ANY limiting belief and head trash you’ve built up. She actually learned to rewire her brain after she hit a serious bump in her otherwise fantastic life. She had a great career traveling first-class around the globe. A great marriage. Wonderful kids. She had IT ALL. But she had become a serious alcoholic. Like, a “screwdrivers at 6 a.m.” type of alcoholic. And she didn’t know WHY. So she spent a year diving into the SCIENCE behind WHY she was drinking and she uncovered a lot more along the way that can help YOU in your photography business. So press play if you want to learn how to grow your brain to be a better marketer using the same techniques she’s taught hundreds of thousands of people around the world. This stuff really works!
