This week a super special guest and we keep our free flowing vulgarity to a minimum... try to anyway. Sorta. A chance encounter leads a high school girl to an abandoned part of town, where she discovers a strange door in the middle of the remains of a spa. Next thing she knows, supernatural cats are running away from possessed chairs and a giant worm threatens everything. Makoto Shinkai's latest film about connection, loneliness, and mourning the lost places... Suzume (original title- Suzume no Tojimari, literal- Suzume's Locking Up). Prior to the founding of Seabrook, those seeking to settle there fought off Werewolves for control of a powerful mystical stone. The same stone that would be the strange source of energy for Seabrook Power that brought about Zombies. Now, after zombies have finally gotten a measure of equality, the powers that be decide to demolish Seabrook Power, the heart of Zombie culture, and Werewolves return to town seeking what was stolen from them. In the panic that follows, anti-monster laws are re-established. Can cheerleader Addison earn the place of captain as her bigot pandering cousin aims for higher office? Can Zed finally go to Prawn? Will Seabrook finally learn the lessons from the first film and welcome the Werewolves with open arms of equality, love, and kinship? Can the Werewolves do it like the... Zombies 2. 16 years after adventurer archeologist Lord Richard Croft disappeared, his daughter Lara has taken up the legacy and is without question the best in the world. Elsewhere, Manfred Powell and the Illuminati are desperately searching for a key to unite two halves of a mystical artifact before a once every 5000 year celestial alignment occurs. If you had any doubt, the key is definitely in the missing father's possessions and Lara will be immediately drawn into the shadowy shenanigans as soon as she finds it. Will Lara save the world? Obviously. Will baby Bond ever learn how to do a decent American accent? No, it's been 23 years and he is still terrible at it. Will there ever be a truly great adventure game adaptation? Based on the ridiculously popular and long running video game series- Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In the thousand years since the Institute of Elite Knights began protecting the kingdom, following the teachings of the legendary hero Glorith, there has never been a commoner brought into the knighthood. All of that is about to change with Ballister Boldheart being the shining hope for the future... or he would be if he wasn't the fall guy in a plot to maintain the status quo by murdering the queen. Instead Ballister loses an arm and finds himself on the run with no one to turn to and no way to clear his name. Enter a mischievous shapeshifter who has faced persecution for her powers and knows all too well the pain of being rejected by everything and everyone. Declaring herself his sidekick, the duo set off to find the truth and maybe cause a little trouble for the powers that be along the way. A current Oscar contender that started production at Fox with their animation powerhouse Blue Sky, continuing for a couple years under Disney's hesitant eye, and finally being finished by Annapurna as their first animated feature. Based on the webcomic and graphic novel by ND Stevenson- Nimona. All that and did I mention that there's a super special guest this week? Join us, won't you? Episode 349- All Killa No Filla

Suzume (Japanese: すずめの戸締まり, Hepburn: Suzume no Tojimari, lit. 'Suzume's Locking Up') is a 2022 Japanese animated coming-of-age fantasy adventure film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, produced by CoMix Wave Films, and distributed by Toho. The film follows 17-year-old high school girl Suzume Iwato and young stranger Souta Munakata, who team up to prevent a series of disasters across Japan by sealing doors from the colossal, supernatural worm that causes earthquakes after being released. The film features the voices of Nanoka Hara and Hokuto Matsumura, with the character designs by Masayoshi Tanaka, animation direction by Kenichi Tsuchiya, art direction by Takumi Tanji, and music by Radwimps and Kazuma Jinnouchi, making it Shinkai's third collaboration with Radwimps and Tanaka, after Your Name (2016) and Weathering with You (2019). It began production in early 2020, eventually being announced as completed by October 2022. A novel adaptation, also written by Shinkai, and a manga series illustrated by Denki Amashima both debuted prior to the film's release. It was inspired by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Suzume first premiered in IMAX in Japan on November 7, 2022, and was theatrically released nationwide on November 11. It received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its animation, characters, emotional weight and music, although the film's plot was criticized by some for being structurally similar to Shinkai's previous works. It has grossed over $323 million worldwide, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2022 in Japan and the fourth highest-grossing Japanese film of all time. The film received multiple nominations, including at the Golden Globe Awards and Saturn Awards.

Prepare to be floored as we tackle the unsettling sentencing leniency displayed in the cases of Capitol attackers Ethan Nordine and Dominique Pazola. We're shaking the table, discussing the blatant disparity in punishment between these individuals and Black people, irrespective of crime severity. Our indignation doesn't stop there - we're shedding light on the insufficient media coverage these sentencing outcomes are receiving and we're not holding back. We're also peeling back the layers on the Department of Justice's sway over public sentiment, and its role as a potential buffer against mass violence. In a world where Trump's accountability is often downplayed, we're dissecting the unusual case of Joe Biggs' pardon expectations. Mitch McConnell's puzzling inaction is on our radar too. Meanwhile, we're moving beyond the chatter about Biden's age and delving into a more telling aspect - his performance and track record in office. Who can forget the most famous chant in the 2016 US Presidential campaign: Lock her up! Tens of millions of hard-working, honest, tax-paying, patriotic Americans thought they finally found a leader in Donald Trump, who had the courage and strength to take down the crime syndicate that has controlled America for decades. Everybody knew that Bill and Hillary Clinton were the two most corrupt politicians in the history of the United States of America. The Clintons, however, have a Get Out of Jail Free Card. They are never investigated, indicted, or imprisoned for their multitude of crimes of political corruption. They don't even sweat over the thought of being accountable for dastardly deeds. Weeks after defeating Hillary Clinton in 2016, Mr. Trump shocked his supporters by announcing that his administration would not investigate the Clintons nor prosecute them.In hindsight, Mr. Trump must deeply regret not locking up Hillary Clinton years ago and going after the rest of the political mafia. Mr. Trump may have successfully conducted large business deals in New York City and Las Vegas, but he was not prepared to wrestle with the shadow government. They immediately went into action and laid the groundwork to label Mr. Trump as a Russian stooge of Vladimir Putin. Now, Mr. Trump is facing over 1,000 years in federal and state prisons.Rick Wiles. This Mother's Day weekend Dave, John, and Jeff gush about Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, the sensational second feature film by writer/director Kelly Fremon Craig, adapted from the 1970 novel by Judy Blume. Suzume (Japanese: すずめの戸締まり, Hepburn: Suzume no Tojimari, lit. "Suzume's Locking Up") is a 2022 Japanese animated fantasy adventure film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, produced by CoMix Wave Films, and distributed by Toho. The film features the voices of Nanoka Hara and Hokuto Matsumura, with the character designs by Masayoshi Tanaka, animation direction by Kenichi Tsuchiya, art direction by Takumi Tanji, and music by Radwimps and Kazuma Jinnouchi. Suzume is Shinkai's third collaboration with Radwimps and Tanaka, after Your Name (2016) and Weathering with You (2019), and was inspired by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The film follows 17-year-old high school student Suzume Iwato and Souta Munakata, who team up to prevent a series of disasters across Japan. We Watched A Thing is supported by Dendy Cinemas Canberra. We love Japan, and we love anime - so this month's episodes are soley focused around ones Sophie hasn't seen, and what we've to witness for the first time! To kick things off with our cleverly titled theme - that being 'Ani-May' - we went to the cinema to see the new Makoto Shinkai movie Suzume - or Suzume no Tojimari in it's full Japanese title (lit. Suzume's Locking Up). We talk about how well this stacks up to his previous works, the atmsophere at the screening, a recollection of a natural disaster, and another pokemon reference! ------------------------------------------------------- Don't forget to follow us on social media in the links below, and let us know your thoughts and recommendations for the future! instagram.com/sp_filmviewers twitter.com/SP_Filmviewers letterboxd.com/SP_Filmviewers Rating and reviewing the show is a great help too! The Toronto Maple Leafs magic number is now down to three after the Tampa Bay Lightning's latest loss. Mike DiStefano and David Morassuti look at the Leafs getting closer to securing home-ice advantage in their Round 1 matchup against the Lightning and why that remains crucial for the team. Sheldon Keefe continues to make changes to the lineup as the team prepares for their clash against the Boston Bruins and Ryan O'Reilly's return from injury. They go through the defensive pairings which change once again but will get one of their toughest tests against Boston. It seems like the forward lines are getting closer to being set as we get a chance to see what O'Reilly does on the third line which will be something to keep an eye on over the next few games. Phew! So much to get into this week during Part 2 of our discussion with New Mexico Wildlife Federation Executive Director Jesse Deubel.
