(00:00-25:34) – Query & Company opens on a Thursday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison discussing the Indiana Fever's win last night over the Connecticut Sun. They also wish Jake's girlfriend a happy birthday and have a discussion on Chris Ballard's comments about the cornerbacks that are on the roster right now for the Colts. (25:34-43:36) – J.P. Shadrick from Jaguars.com joins Query & Company to share the overall thoughts on how training camp and preseason went for the Jacksonville Jaguars, assesses where Trevor Lawrence's confidence is at right now after getting paid a large amount of money in the offseason, states that the Jags have a lot of #2 receivers in the offense with no real WR1 on the roster, and highlights the pass rush and the interior offensive line as two areas that the team will struggle this season. (43:36-46:11) – The first hour of the program concludes with Jake, Jimmy, and Eddie reminding people on how they can join The Fan's Pick ‘Em challenge! (46:11-1:13:37) – Radio voice of the Indianapolis Colts, Matt Taylor, makes his weekly appearance on the program with Jake Query & Jimmy Cook to discuss his takeaways from the initial 53-man roster that was released yesterday, believes that Shane Steichen is going to put Anthony Richardson in positions weekly to win games and not focus directly on developing him in specific areas as a passer, and comments on the way he envisions Steichen using Jonathan Taylor to compliment the weaponry around Richardson. (1:16:22-1:32:58) – Following their conversation with Matt Taylor, Jake and Jimmy bring up the discussion about the cornerbacks from earlier in the show after Chris Ballard's comment yesterday. Additionally, Jake asks Eddie two hypothetical questions that he wants to revisit later in the year. (1:32:58-1:37:35) – Hour number two concludes with Jake and Jimmy discussing some of the things in Mike Sando's piece that they will talk to him about next segment. (1:37:35-2:05:03) – The Athletic's Mike Sando joins Query & Company to discuss his latest piece on ranking the QB's in the NFL in a tier system based off of the 50 NFL coaches, GM's, coordinators, etc. had to say pertaining to each QB. Sando elaborates on what people had to say about Anthony Richardson, does believe that people in the NFL legitimately think Shane Steichen is one of the best offensive minds in the league, and reveals how the other AFC South quarterbacks ranked. (2:05:03-2:20:47) – NHRA driver Matt Hagan joins Query & Company to preview the NHRA Nationals that are this weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway to explain what type of experience that fans get when they attend, explains the importance of reaction time being what can make or break your race, and shares some statistics that blow Jake's mind away when it comes to how fast the cars are going, the force it generates through the ground, and then how quick they have to react to the start. (2:20:47-2:28:27) – Today's show ends with the JCook Plays of the Day and the guys discussing the start of the college football season tonight!Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Phil and Josh come back for E183 of the GSP interviewing the 2017 ARCA Series Champion and Maine House of Representative Member Austin Theriault. The guys talk to Austin about his racing return at the Oxford 250 super late model race and his results at Oxford Plains and his involvement with the Travis Mills Foundation and how this race will assist in fund raising. Phil and Josh also ask Austin about his driver development program and connection with Team Hornaday, his NASCAR career in all three major series and his thoughts on the differences in how drivers behave in and out of the race car today relative to when Austin was a prospect himself. Josh asks Austin about his other role as a House Member for his local district and what how the responsibilities there coordinate with racing. Phil and Josh then get into the Cup and XFinity events at Watkins Glen, which saw dominant performances for William Byron and Ty Gibbs respectively. However, the XFinity event had an interesting finish due to the ongoing rivalry between Gibbs and eventual race winner Sam Mayer. The guys get into the issues with the Next Gen Car and how it has affected the product, the pace of the race itself and what they saw between the two young guns. Other key players and points are discussed heading to Daytona. The crew gets into their drafts for the FallBrawl fantasy football league and how they both got the worst grades based on analytics but definitely aren't out of the mix. Josh discusses injuries and key battles for the Jaguars while Phil laments the continued QB saga behind Brock Purdy for San Francisco. A leaner GSP Roundup covers the SRX season finale at Lucas Oil Raceway, NHRA at Brainerd, MotoGP/Moto2 at Austria, Supercars at The Bend, Indy NXT at Gateway, F2 at Zandvoort and IMSA GT at Virginia International Raceway. Formula 1 returns from their summer break for the Dutch Grand Prix, with Phil and Josh previewing and picking whoever will finish behind FL. IndyCar has their last oval race of 2023 at Gateway, so the guys pick whether they believe Josef Newgarden will sweep all of them or not along with wild cards. NASCAR Cup and XFinity race at Daytona, which means the Tate Fogleman Algorithm makes a return. The crew make their picks and wild cards while Josh lets us know who TF believes could win at the World's Center of Racing. The Craftsman Truck Series returns to the Milwaukee Mile for their second playoff race, so can Ty Majeski make it 2-2 or will one of the other contenders advance? Josh lets us know about all things gaming and iRacing in the Sim Segment before Show Close.

Welcome back to another episode of Chasing the Apex. Today I'm sitting down with Ernie Francis Jr. Ernie started his professional racing career in 2013, racing with the Breathless Racing team run by his father in the Trans Am series. With 7 consecutive series titles under his belt in the Trans Am series, Ernie also competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with MBM Motorsports in 2017 and in the Formula Regional Americas Championship in 2021. However, one of Ernie's most significant career moments thus far was bringing home a race win at Lucas Oil Raceway in the SRX series. He credits this win as one of the reasons he received his latest opportunity, racing in the Indy Lights series with Force Indy, a team established with the goal of bringing greater diversity and inclusion to motorsports. Hope you enjoy this episode! Social Media Links: https://linktr.ee/chasingtheapex

You may have been introduced to Ernie Francis Jr. this past summer thanks to SRX, but there's much more to his story. The seven-time Trans-Am champion joins Davey this week (13:30) to discuss how he got into racing, his father's origins in the sport, sanctioning bodies bending the rules to let him race, the dynamic working for his dad and why he likes to tinker and work on cars. He gives a primer on what the Trans-Am series is about and it's importance, why it's lost popularity over the years and winning his seven titles (in a row!) at such a young age. He also dives into his time running SRX this summer, how he got the invite from Ray Evernham, influence from Willy T. Ribbs, his victory over Scott Speed at Lucas Oil Raceway and how it feels to see fans wear his merchandise. Plus, why he stayed with Tony Stewart in his motorhome during the Knoxville Nationals, how it felt rubbing elbows with racing legends, how he adjusted to running short tracks with a road course background, his time in NASCAR with Rev Racing and why he thinks things didn't work out, whether or not he'd still like to run in stock cars or IndyCar and what his 2022 racing prospects may look like. Davey also briefly recaps Kyle Larson's Texas win, weighs in on the playoff vs non-playoff driver debate, previews Kansas and Papa Segal gives an ode to the man named Mikey.

Mitchell Vincent represented team Byron Dragway at the 43rd Annual NHRA North Central Division Finals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis where he drove two cars deep into eliminations. Vincent reached the fifth round in his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro in Pro Eliminator and reached the final round in Super Pro driving his rear-engine dragster. Mitchell took some time out of his day to talk about his racing roots, the joys of racing two different cars, and his successful weekend at Indy.
Episode 9 Christian Rasmussen, Driver of the #6 Jay Howard Driver Development entry in the USF2000 Series on the Road to Indy joined The Earl from Orlando Florida following his weekend of racing at Portland International Raceway. Christian currently sits 5th in the season championship standings heading into the final two races of the campaign at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. We recap the two races in Portland which saw Rasmussen turn in a podium finish in race 1 after starting 5th and rally back from a tire issue in race 2 by setting fast lap of the race on lap 18. In 2018, Christian finished third in the F4 US Championship with the most victories by any driver during the year. He has followed up his stint in F4 with a strong showing in USF2000. Christian is backed by the Danish Federation and Dansk Metal and is excited to see what 2020 has in store for his racing career. He started in go-karts at the age of 5 in Denmark. It was a natural step considering that his father was involved in the automotive industry. We talk about the opportunities that he had in Europe and how he has made his racing budget stretch in the United States and how he enjoys living and competing stateside. Part of that allure stateside is the Indy 500. Christian got to experience the race first hand this year and it was a spectacle that he will never forget. https://youtu.be/RHpdMzHN5Hs Now that Christian has finished his business degree in Denmark he is dedicating more of his time towards racing and fitness and preparing himself for not only Laguna Seca, but the racing that is available after that race and heading into next season. Take away a few, as Christian put it, unlucky incidents during the 2019 USF2000 campaign and he would be right in the hunt for a season podium finish position of 3rd. Instead, he will have to focus on trying to catch Colin Kaminsky for 4th in the final 2 races. It will be interesting to see him make the progression through the Road to Indy ladder. I hope we see him in 2020 stateside, either in a USF2000 car competing for the season championship or progression to the Indy Pro 2000 or Indy Lights level. PS - In the interview, I talk about Lucas Oil Raceway - formerly known as IRP. I have the pleasure of seeing DAVE STEELE win at that track in his early days of racing. I also was fortunate enough to see him race and win in Richmond, VA, Maryland and at DeSota Speedway in Florida on the same track that his lost his life on 4 months after I saw him. Dave was always fast. If you would like to find out more about DAVE (I apologize for his name slipping my mind) then I encourage you to visit this site: http://www.steeleperformance.com/davesteele.html
Ron Capps is the current NHRA FC World Champion in the NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger R/T! A crown that eluded him 4 times before 2016. One of the only titles he has still not claimed is the US Nationals Title. This year, 2017, I sat down with Ron in the NAPA Auto Parts trailer in the midsts of his very busy pit and we talk about “the big one”. Even with a World championship under his belt, he wants Indy! Ron shares his love of a sport he was literally born into. Dad was a driver and worked on cars not only for himself but friends. Ron grew up hanging with his Dad and helped to work on cars before he ever became a driver. If you have never been to a drag race in person it is something to experience. Even as a spectator you can feel the power. The ground shakes, the air smells of burning nitro and the sound! For a little under 4 secs your heart skips a beat and you hold your breath. If you are the driver its magnified by throwing in G forces. 6 g’s on the start and 7 to 8 g’s when the shoot pops out to help stop you. Ron walks us threw that feeling and what happens when your parachute doesn't deploy. A scary scenario that happened as last years US Nationals. We also find out about Ron’s love for other forms of racing, heroes, UFC fighting and Rock n Roll. When we recorded this interview it was the Saturday of race weekend. On Monday afternoon Ron lost in the Final Round at Lucas Oil Raceway at the 2017 US Nationals to J.R. Todd by .026th of a second. We will be watching and cheering for Ron the rest of the season as the Countdown to the Championship begins… For more info: shoeracing.com Twitter: @RonCapps28 Facebook: @RonCappsFC
