Peter Sterling moved to Sedona, Arizona, drawn to its energy vortices, its natural beauty, and its powerful connection to a higher purpose in life. It was in Sedona that Peter discovered his affinity for, or more accurately, his mystical connection with the Celtic harp. It was 1993 and he took to the instrument, without any formal training or lessons, like the proverbial fish to water. His playing talent sprung forth in an almost organic manner, surprising Peter most of all. As part of this emergence of his muse, and tapping into the positive energies that swirl around Sedona, Peter decided that it was time to rethink much of his life. Making changes to his diet, engaging in energy healing, chiropractic medicine, herbal treatments, and shamanic workshops, Peter “came out of the shadows,” as it were and emerged a wholly changed person. His career as a recording artist began in 1994 with his first album, Harp Magic, released on the World Disc label. Success came almost immediately as the recording was nominated for the Best Instrumental Album award by NAIRD (now A2IM), an organization for independent musicians. His acclaim continued and grew exponentially in the 2000s with multiple nominations from the prestigious website New Age Reporter/Zone Music Reporter, including several nominations for Album of the Year. His albums consistently charted high up in their top 100, including grabbing the #1 spot for his 2012 release, Patterns of Reflection and 2013 Twilight Serenade.. His most recent recognition came in 2020 when he won the Hollywood Music and Media Award for Best New Age song. And also in 2022 winning the Gold COVR Visionary Award for his album The Winding Way. His latest single and video The Long Cold Winter released in march of 2022 has won several awards in international film festivals including the Los Angeles Cinematography Award,Swedish International Film Fest, European Cinematography Awards to name a few.Websiteharpmagic.comBooksHearing the Angels Sing
Terry Currier grew up in Seattle and took a liking to music in school, playing the flute-o-phone in 4th Grade. The following summer he took up the violin with the Suzuki method. Three months into the 5th grade his father Lando, noticed a slide in the enthusiasm about the instrument while he did his daily practicing. “Are you not happy with the violin?' Terry said “the sound the other violins make hurt my ears. They screech.” After a serious conversation, his father found out Terry would rather play the clarinet and woke him up a month later and presented him with a new clarinet. To make up for being 4 months behind on the instrument, he took private lessons to catch up. By junior high it was apparent that Terry would go to college after high school and pursue music. Between music and his participation in Boy Scouts, that pretty much took up most of his free time as a youth. When he was 16 he decided to get a motorcycle versus a car and he learned to drive in the yard. At 16 ½, he realized a motorcycle was not the best mode of transportation in the Northwest, where it rained and snowed in the winter, so he bought a ‘66 Mustang. It had a radio in it and he discovered recorded music for the first time. A week after he turned 17, he went to his first concert. He saw Nitzinger opening up for Leon Russell and the Shelter People. 2 weeks later he applied for a job in a record store (DJ's Sound City). He was hired solely on his enthusiasm and not for his musical knowledge, which was close to nil. HISTORIC MOMENTS IN CARRER. - Pioneered live music in a Record Store. In 1989, while deciding what to do for Music Millennium's 20th Anniversary, he turned to his then partner, Don MacLeod and stated “Let's have 20 straight days of live music in the store,” After looking at renting a system, they decided to buy a system and put a permanent stage in the store. Since then Music Millennium has hosted over 4000 live performances including Soundgarden, Steve Earle, Cyndi Lauper with the only ever instore performances of Randy Newman, Joe Strummer and Keith Emerson. - Currier and Music Millennium dubbed “modern day folk heroes” for their role in the brilliantly effective crusade against used CD policies. Discontent with policies instituted by 4 of the 6 major distribution companies, Terry fought to overturn the policies. After Garth Brooks announced his new album would not be available in stores that sold used product, Currier immediately responded with a “West Coast Bar-B-Q For Retail Freedom” tour – actually roasting Brooks CDs, VHS, Posters and cassettes to dramatize the retailer' plight. The tour started in Bellingham, WA and hit 9 stores between there and San Diego, CA. The protest captured the attention of TNN, CNN, Forbes and People magazine, and resulted in a repeal of the restrictive polices. - In the aftermath of the Bar-B-Q For Retail Freedom, Terry realized the common concerns and interests in the 9 stores on the tour as well as stores that reached out about the issue from around the country. He presented a proposal to Mark Cope, Retail Editor of Album Network and arranged for a meeting at the NARM convention in Florida. The idea was to create a group of retailers who could work records together and make a difference as well as act as a support team. This germinated into a meeting in San Francisco at the NAIRD convention in May 1995, with 25 retailers from across the country meeting in a room for a day to see if they could find commonality to work together. CIMS was born. - After a several year germination of an idea to support local unique businesses and talking multiple times to John Kunz of Waterloo Records about a new slogan in his city, “Keep Austin Weird”, Currier created “Keep Portland Weird.' at the suggestion of Kunz. It has organically become the city of Portland's motto and most used phase. All production by Cody Maxwell. Artwork by Cody Maxwell. In todays episode, I speak with Peter Sterling is one of the world's premier harpists in the genre of new age and contemporary instrumental music. His book, Hearing the Angels Sing tells the story of Peter's remarkable encounters with the angels in the canyons of Sedona Arizona in the early 1990's which ultimately lead to his discovery of his talent for playing the harp. We talk about letting go of the trauma of the past, celestial guidance…music…Angels, cherubs, telepathy, out of the plagues comes burst of renaissance energy, oneness and how music has the ability to open hearts. Peter Sterling's career as a recording artist began in 1994 with his first album, Harp Magic, released on the World Disc label. His albums consistently charted high up in their top 100, including grabbing the #1 spot for his 2013 release, Twilight Serenade. While his recent works are released on his own Harp Magic label (including his 2018 album, Magic Kingdom), Real Music, one of the giants of new age music, released his Shadow, Mist and Light album in 2005. His most recent recognition came in 2017 when he shared the Hollywood Music and Media Award for Best New Age song. Besides his music, Peter is also a stained glass and visual artist and has been since before he began playing the harp. His beautiful art work decorates the interior of his Sedona house (including a gallery of his Portals of Light crystal alchemy paintings) which he shares with his son 7-year old son Micah (Peter is a stay at home father and loves it!). In the little spare time he has, he also conducts Jeep tours of Sedona's canyons for private clients and he is also heavily involved with the growing CBD hemp industry. Even with such a full plate as he has, Peter found time to write a book, Hearing the Angels Sing, and he also conducts workshops on the science of sound healing and sacred geometry. www.harpmagic.com FB. Instagram. YouTube. Music itunes Book Hearing the Angels Sing takes us on a journey with Peter. As he says, he was constantly amazed by the miracles and good fortune that continued to show up for him as he continued to play his harp. He connected with celebrities, teachers and artists. This time, the Force Fed Sci-Fi team binged so we could bring you our own Netflix's Space Force review and rating. While watching the latest Netflix comedy Space Force we asked ourselves how is Mark Naird different from Michael Scott, is John Malkovich the new everyman of Hollywood and did Netflix somehow defeat the US Government? Let's dive in…. Space Force Cast -Steve Carell as General Mark Naird: Carell has made his career in comedy after a long stint as lead character Michael Scott on the US version of The Office and in roles in films like Anchorman, The Forty Year Old Virgin, Get Smart and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Carell is also credited as a creator and executive producer on Space Force along with co-creator Greg Daniels, who also created the US version of The Office. There are noted similarities between the former show and Space Force, especially the use of a single camera, the deadpan comedy and various workplace hijinks. As Chris and Sean note during our podcast episode, Carell's performance as Naird is more believable than Michael Scott as a General Naird-like individual that can be found in just about every workplace imaginable. -John Malkovich as Dr. Adrian Mallory: Malkovich's film career extends back to the late 1970's and has appeared in films like Empire of the Sun, Of Mice and Men, Being John Malkovich, Burn After Reading, Secretariat and RED. In recent years, he's developed a reputation of portraying manic characters like in RED where he plays a paranoid, ex-CIA assassin who's convinced of a major conspiracy to eliminate him and his former colleagues. In spite of his stellar resume, he has yet to receive an Academy Award for his efforts, but hopefully that may change in the next several years. He's truly able to show off his range with the character of Dr. Mallory in Space Force as we see him and Naird have a lot of friction due to Mallory being a true scientist and Naird being military. However, in the end, they have truly tender moments among being colleagues / friends. -Also Starring: Ben Schwartz as F. Tony Scarapiducci Diana Silvers as Erin Naird Tawny Newsome as Captain Angela Ali Lisa Kudrow as Maggie Naird Fred Willard as Fred Naird (His last credited role prior to his death in May 2020) Is Space Force Real? While the Space Force as we know it gained traction in late 2019, its actual history extends back to 1982 when it was known as the Air Force Space Command and its mission didn't exactly have war-like objectives. They were primarily responsible for launching satellites, ensuring the friendly use of space, weather forecasting, missile warning and navigation. This was originally a division within the United States Air Force and not its own separate branch as we now know it to be. The Air Force Space Command was dissolved on December 20, 2019 with the signing of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2020 and was formed into its own branch that became simply known as Space Force. The mission of the new Space Force is wildly different from that of its predecessor. Its primary missions include space superiority, domain awareness, control of space, missile warning and defense and nuclear command. In essence, this branch is responsible for the militarization of space in spite of the International Space Treaty that discourages nations from utilizing space for these purposes. While its first mission was successful in March 2020, it remains unclear what the future of the Space Force will look like and how they could shape future battlefields. Space Force Satire Obviously, Netflix's Space Force is inspired by the real world decision to create a new branch of the military along with the sometimes farcical quality of the Presidential administration. There are many allusions to POTUS, but he is never directly named along with POTUS' propensity to tweet about anything and everything. Even the First Lady is not safe as her fashion sensibility is dragged in one e...

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency this week as two dams collapsed following days of exceptionally heavy rain. Thousands of residents had to be evacuated and the floodwaters were comingling with containment ponds at a Dow Chemical plant near the town of Midland. Parts of Midland and other areas were under 5 feet of water. The company that owned the dams - Boyce Hydro - was chronically noncompliant with the State’s demands to maintain and update the dam. On the other side of planet, Super Cyclone Amphan devastated parts of India and Bangladesh. The storm was the strongest cyclone ever recorded in the Bay of Bengal with sustained winds of 165 mph. The Indian city of Kolkata was devastated, killing at least 84 people as of last night. At least six fruit packing worksites are on strike in Yakima County, WA. The county has the highest rate of COVID-19 cases on the West Coast and workers are striking over safer working conditions and an additional $2/hour in hazard pay. As we’ve seen in the meatpacking industries, immigrant workers work at high-speed, shoulder-to-shoulder in less than adequate working conditions. The companies have not addressed testing issues or safety conditions. Oregon Republicans nominate Jo Rae Perkins as their candidate for U.S. Senate. Perkins is a QAnon conspiracy theorist. In her primary victory speech Tuesday night, Perkins said: ““We’re in this together. It’s all for one, so let’s make it happen. As all of us Q people like to say: ‘Where we go one, we go all.” Perkins beat her closest opponent by more than 50,000 votes. She’ll face Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley in November. In a video posted to Twitter earlier Tuesday, Perkins looks into the camera and says: “I stand with President Trump. I stand with Q and the team. Thank you Anons and thank you patriots, and together we can save our Republic.” That tweet is now removed. Georgia Republicans cancel election for the state Supreme Court. Now, Republican Governor Brian Kemp gets to take his pick of right-wing justices to fill the seat. The VP guessing game has begun! We’re glad cable news will have something to obsess over and give them a little break from having to cover the impact of COVID-19 and our decimated public infrastructure. Cambridge University won’t return to face-to-face lectures until summer 2021. On the flip side, NYU is all gung ho about getting back on campus this fall. With COVID-19 as cover, Kean University will eliminate majors in music, sustainability sciences, theater, and economics. Ohio University announces it will cut 53 faculty, 94 administrators, and about 140 AFSCME workers. And Trump says he’s taking hydroxychloroquine. Who knows if that’s even true. Sean took some pictures last week. ReOpenPA was reenacting Sweeney Tood outside the Capitol. Daryl Metcalfe was pretty busy this week. First he continued his storied tradition of introducing impeachment resolutions against any Democratic official he hates. This time it’s Governor Wolf. And he is promising to hold his yearly gun rally on the capitol steps on June 8th with or without Wolf’s permission. This year’s theme is to Stand Your Ground Against Socialism. Governor Wolf vetos a bill that would have stopped any new regulations in PA until after his COVID-19 disaster emergency declaration expires. The bill was proposed by Republican State Senator David Argall seemed designed to stop any environmental regulations impacting the oil and gas companies and other corporations. Some good news coming out of Harrisburg! Republicans living in competitive districts are warming up to the idea of legalizing marijuana in the Commonwealth due to the impending budget shortfall. Kutztown Univerisity is plowing ahead with plans to return in the fall. As details of the plan begin to leak, it’s that much more important to pay attention. Wait until you hear one of the administration’s student housing plans. We’ll get to that in a little detail. A faculty union task force is developing an alternative plan that would take students, faculty, and staff’s health and safety into account. Imagine that. In the best space news of the week, someone at the National Museum, of the U.S. Airforce at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, taped a picture of Steve Carell over the official picture of Chief of Space Operations Gen. John Raymond. The trickster also replaced Raymond’s bio with that of Gen. Mark R. Naird, Carell’s character in Netflix’s new series “Space Force,” which premieres May 29th. A little over a week before Space X is scheduled to launch two NASA astronauts from U.S. soil for the first time since the Obama administration scuttled the Space Shuttle program in 2011, the head of human space flight at NASA, Douglas Loverro, abruptly resigned. According to reporting in the Washington Post, apparently the resignation came after Loverro broke a rule in the process of awarding contracts to Blue Origin, Space X, and Dynetics to get humans back to the moon. Special Guest: Celebrated Harpist Peter Sterling’s life is a reminder to all who offer themselves as an open vessel for the Divine, that there’s no stop button once Spirit unleashes its creativity. Peter’s response to his heavenly calling 25 years ago, blossomed into an endlessly-creative multi-media career, spanning 16 studio albums, numerous Music Awards, a book called Hearing the Angels Sing, and an impressive series of crystal- frosted Mandala art prints enough to fill a gallery. Peter also creates sacred geometry Stained Glass art, and presents dynamic workshops on the science of sound healing & sacred geometry.Success came quickly for Peter, when the music label “World Disc” released his first album Harp Magic which was nominated in 1994 for NAIRD’s (now A2IM) Best String Album Award. In 2004 Sterling’s album Hap Dreams sat at the top of New Age Radio’s Top 100 for 8 weeks and garnered a Album of the Year nomination. In 2005 peter signed on with renowned new age music label Real Music to release his Shadow,Mist and Light cd. Peter’s self released 2008 effort The Sands of Time earned a nomination for a Hollywood Music Award for Best New Age Album. His 2012 release Patterns of Reflection soared to #1 on the ZMR 100 International Radio chart, also grabbing a nomination for Album of the Year. The very next year his album Twilight Serenade ascended to the #1 position on the ZMR Chart, while the track entitled “Isle of Light” recently earned a Bronze medal in the Global Music Awards for 2016.With thousands of worldwide fans, Internet-radio airplay streaming constantly around the globe, and a Vibrational Healing series of albums, Peter says his 16th studio album Sacred Visions is a different kind of benchmark: it encapsulates his life experience in the legendary red rock paradise of Sedona,Az. The album also celebrates the coming together of familiar talents on this rhythmic contemporary gem, bursting with danceable world beats and infectious multi-cultural grooves. Blending the accompaniment of studio whizzes Bruce Becvar, Robin Miller, and Fitzhugh Jenkins, along with popular New Age / Smooth Jazz artists Hans Christian, William Aura, and Third Force, it is every bit healing and reflective (as Peter’s fans have come to expect), as it is pure joy. Sacred Visions will likely make your body irresistibly move and groove! While some musicians are classically trained from childhood, others are guided to their destiny later in life. It took 33 years of living before Peter heard the still small voice while working in the high altitudes of the Rocky Mountains as a ski instructor in Aspen. Soon Peter couldn’t shake the notion that he was meant to devote his life to art and become a creative channel for Divine inspiration. Sedona beckoned, and Peter heeded the call without hesitation.Exploring Sedona’s remote canyons daily, and living out of his trusty van, Peter followed every Divine hunch and inspiration as a free-spirited seeker. The Celtic Harp serendipitously entered his life on a fateful day in Sedona as an answer to a prayer on how best to fulfill his unique life purpose. Now toting his harp with him everywhere he went, Peter surrendered himself completely, allowing Grace to unfold through him amidst Sedona’s epic scenery and energy vortices. Having only a few lessons under his belt from the seller of the Celtic Harp, the Angels took over, guiding Peter’s hands and causing them to move masterfully within a few short months. No one was more surprised than Peter, whose skill-level demonstrated that of a virtuoso rather than a mere beginner.Peter felt inspired to make drastic changes to his diet and lifestyle, switching to vegetarian “living” foods and immersing himself in healing treatments to upgrade his physical and energetic bodies through shamanic, chiropractic, energy healing and herbal treatments. With his newfound inner attunement, the Angels continued to reach Peter’s inner ear with heavenly sound transmissions, a sound which many mystics have called “the Music of the Spheres.”Little did Peter know that one day his angelic music would garner testimonials from around the world for its miraculous healing effects: softening the hearts of the dying at the moment of their transition and used by mothers at the time of birth and to ease their autistic children’s suffering. For many, it has become the quintessential healing soundtrack for meditation and massage. “My mission is to create music that can create an experience of transcendence in the listener; strike a chord on their heartstrings, and remind them of Home – a feeling of Oneness,” Peter commented.A favorite on Internet radio such as Pandora, Sirius, XM Satellite, and Soundscapes Radio as well as United and American airlines, Peter scarcely dreamed that his music would have a massive worldwide audience back when he was recording his first 8 tracks on a cassette tape in Byron Bay, Australia and marketing it on foot around Sedona with its hand-drawn cover art. Now, through Internet Radio, CD, DVD, his website, and countless other forums, Peter’s angelic music will continue to reach the masses, heal lives, balance brains, open hearts, and connect people to their innate spiritual essence.A walk into his beautiful West-Sedona home will find dozens of his canvas and wood-mounted “Portals of Light” Mandala art prints, glossed and shimmering with finely-ground Quartz crystal specks. Peter’s stained glass pieces adorn much of the house as well, which are the inspiration used to create the Mandala design for the “Portals of Light” series. When not in the studio working on his next album, Peter is often found working in his organic vegetable and herb garden, ensuring fresh, high-energy food for his family, which now consists of his partner Crystal, and their 5-year old son Micah. Peter also enjoys guiding out-of-towners on Sacred Land Journeys to Sedona’s spectacular vortex sites that have captured his heart and inspired his art and music.Hosted by: Joel Ayala AyapanaProduced by: Joel Ayala Ayapana Disclaimer by: Tiffany Renee Ayapana Introduction by: Rahman Ali Podcast Radio Network: Real Revolution Radio 2.0Network Link: http://www.realrevolutionradio.comArchives: http://www.realrevolutionradioarchives.comNOTICE: By accessing this Podcast, I acknowledge that the entire contents and design of this Podcast, are the property of Quantum Mindfulness Radio LLC and REAL REVOLUTION RADIO X.0, or used by Quantum Mindfulness Radio LLC (QMR) and REAL REVOLUTION RADIO X.0 (RRRX) with permission, and are protected under U.S. and international copyright and trademark laws. Celebrated Harpist Peter Sterling’s life is a reminder to all who offer themselves as an open vessel for the Divine, that there’s no stop button once Spirit unleashes its creativity. No one was more surprised than Peter, whose skill-level demonstrated that of a virtuoso rather than a mere beginner.Check out all of Peters music at www.harpmagic.com And his Portals of Light Art at www.mandalamagic333.com
