Welcome to Eyes & Teeth The Worlds Greatest Variety Show, Season 15 edition 6 with the one and only Harry Hill.Harry is about to embark on a new UK Tour with his new musical Tony Blair the Rock Opera. So today we catch up and talk about his work as a stand up comedian, musical producer, admirer of ventriloquists and their dummies, Sean Lock and much more. Harry's success on television brought him awards and millions of fans but it was his decision to end the TV show that made him a household name as the schedule was gruelling and besides he is now able to tour his Stand Up show, write more books, collaborate with Steve Brown on exciting projects as well as be at home with his family instead of watching 12 hours of TV dramas and soaps for little comedy nuggets. Until I read his biography FIGHT I didn't know how much hands on harry was in putting together these clips but that is the main reason he wanted more freedom after a good 10 years on ITV. My wife Nina & I loved the show so much we went along to one of the recordings to see the magic happen and he had us in hysterics as usual. One thing Harry does have as well as his successful career is that he has his charm laid back nature and I was delighted he agreed to our chat on Eyes & Teeth and its just in time to mention that the Tony Blair Rock Opera is now on sale at the Leicester Square Theatre and is on from April 15th to my 21st before going on a National Tour.Oh while I'm here my theatre Tour Ventriloquest – A Life in the Day of Arthur Lager continues April to August and can be seen in Hunstanton, Southampton, Hastings, Bungay Norfolk, Saddleworth, Verwood Dorset, Eastbourne, Chelmsford, Stafford, Axminster, Shanklin IOW, Ivybridge, Bromyard midlands, Haverhill Suffolk, Paighton and Ilfracombe in DEVON.Got to www.thestevehewlettshow.com for dates. Now its time for a special edition of Eyes & Teeth with Harry Hill

The World Buskers Festival is underway in Christchurch and one of the headling acts is UK ventriloquist Nina Conti. She's performed around the world, appeared on Live At The Apollo, and her and her puppet Monkey were in the cast of the Christopher Guest mockumentary series Family Tree. As well as having a host of characters she regularly returns to, she somehow manages to persuade audience members to get involved and become her living ventriloquist dummies.
Nina Conti is the only child of actors – her father, Tom, is a Tony Award winner and Oscar nominee. As for Nina, she began …

Dan and Nina Conti discuss what it's like improvising an entire ventriloquism show with up to 11 audience participants at once for an hour; something Dan can only imagine, but Nina does every night, in her show "In Your Face" at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
In this episode Gearoid meets ventriloquist Nina Conti the morning after her sold-out show for the Galway Comedy Carnival. She is mid-way through her largest tour to date. She chats about her start in ventriloquism, her puppet Monk and why she never wants to be an actress. Nina is a prolific comedian and documentary maker. She received a BAFTA nomination for her film “Her Master’s Voice” in which she took the puppets of her deceased mentor Ken Campbell to Vent Haven in Kentucky. Nina has won a British Comedy Award, stormed Live at the Apollo, Russell Howard’s Good News, Sunday Night at the Palladium – all without even moving her lips.

The complex relationship between a ventriloquist and her puppets is brought to life in mind-expanding detail in this live episode, as comedian, clown and filmmaker Nina Conti lays her creative process bare! Startlingly innovative and imaginative, Nina traces her development via mentor Ken Campbell (and criticism from Daniel Kitson), and why she feels she's "more Monkey than Nina"... A startlingly creative character comic, Nick Mohammed produces utterly silly work with a rigorous technical backbone. We talk about his most enduring creation Mr Swallow, and how he has cultivated that act from a casual sketch to a rollerskating operatic Dracula. We also discuss his role in the new Ridley Scott film "The Martian"... 2012 #8: Advice for Flashers - Nina Conti and Christian Reilly. Richard has just seen an 80 year old man running for a bus and it's his highlight performance of the Fringe so far and he's a bit overexcited because his latest DVD 'What is Love, Anyway?' is now available from www.gofasterstripe.com (including the first ever videoed Me1 vs Me2 snooker match - which will annoy purists). But he's also a bit in awe because his guest is Nina Conti who has just released the fantastic documentary 'Her Master's Voice' and has worked with (and more) with his hero Ken Campbell. So he's keen to ask some serious questions about self and portraying different aspects of oneself and whether Stewart Lee has ever tried to get close to her ventriloquist dummies. You'll learn about the thinking (if any) behind Rich's snooker podcasts, Vent Heaven and what animal Nina would have sex with if she had to. Plus there's an appearance for Richard's second favourite ventriloquist dummy (that hasn't masturbate him) after Naughty Keith, Monk. And Richard does his best to cure his sex pest listeners step by step. There's music and laughter from the AIOTM (aiotm) star Christian Reilly.
This week Libby Purves is joined by Nina Conti, Anne Downie, John Stewart and Ann Martin-Davis. Ventriloquist Nina Conti returns to London's Soho Theatre, following a sell out run at this year's Edinburgh Festival, with her new solo show, 'Talk to the Hand'. Familiar favourite, the incorrigible Monk is joined by a host of new characters, including poetry penning Owl, mischievous Granny and vodka swilling Lydia. 'Talk to the Hand' is at the Soho Theatre. Anne Downie is a Scottish actor and writer who has worked in many of the major Scottish theatres. She is currently performing in Ena Lamont Stewart's 'Men Should Weep', a moving and funny portrayal of impoverished 1930s Glasgow, written in 1947. It was voted one of the top hundred plays of the 20th century in the NT2000 millennium poll. 'Men Should Weep' is at the Lyttelton Theatre. John Stewart began his career in photography in the 1950s, having previously served in the British army during WWII, including three and a half years as a Japanese POW. His first ever portrait was of Picasso, followed by Matisse. His photographs have appeared in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Life and Esquire and in museums and major collections around the world. Now in his nineties, he has his first major retrospective in London at the Wilmotte Gallery at Lichfield Studios, Notting Hill, which will feature forty never before seen still life images, spanning his 60 year career. Pianist Ann Martin-Davis and her duo partner, soprano Susan Legg, discovered previously unheard, unperformed and unrecorded music by lost composer, Peter Pope. For the next two years they played musical detective, eventually discovering that Pope gave up his promising composing for love and religion. They've released an album 'Heaven-Haven - The Songs of Peter Pope' (on Nimbus records), and will be touring with Pope's song-cycle 'Five Landscapes'; a setting of the T.S. Eliot poetry of the same name, as part of their latest programme Landscape which they will be performing in extreme locations throughout next year.
